This vendor never once explained her policy. Never once asked for a deposit. Never once asked me to sign a contract or talk in the Shoppe. She claims that because the cake was simple she didn't see the need. She decided to cancel my cake 3 weeks before my wedding because I asked to pay a deposit and and the rest the day of. Never once did I say I wasn't going to pay her for the cake. But just as it's in her right to be paid it is well within my right to ask that the cake is what I wanted before spending money on it. Again I would of signed a contract, paid a deposit, given her a credit card to hold. But she did not ask for any of that. This is an example of poor communication.

    Mini cupcakes and naked cake

After many hours reading reviews of bakeries in Pittsburgh- I decided that this was the one. I was planning a baby shower from out of town and wanted a naked cake- I received a phone call back within 24 hours and was very confident that the cake would turn out just as requested. The cakes are made by hand and the variety of filling options were amazing. I initially requested a naked cake but they took their time explaining the difference between naked/some frosting etc to achieve the look I was going for. The pricing is phenomenal considering all of the time and effort that goes into each cake. My cake turned out even better than I imagined and all of the guests were complimenting on the great flavor. We also picked up a few dozen mini cupcakes that were dressed adorably and perfect bite size snacks! Amazing boutique bakery!!!

Note: CASH ONLY! Last week, I spotted a new business on Capital Avenue, and at first glance it appeared to be an ice cream parlor. However, it turns out that someone decided to open a cupcake specialty bakery a few doors up the cobblestone road from the famously overrated Fiori's Pizzeria, and the interiors are akin to a pink poodle; small and excruciatingly cute. Women will most likely love the place as well as the keen designs of the cupcakes themselves which range in size from regular to miniature. Le Cupcake Shoppe also sells cookies, cakes, and other assorted pastries, but aside from some cake pops that the person behind the counter (the owner?) threw in for free, they only had cupcakes for sale at the moment. I took home bountiful baker's dozen of the micro cupcakes and a few of the normally-sized variety. They included the following: Red Velvet, S'more, Chocolate Potato Chip (!), Hot Chocolate, French Vanilla, and I cannot recall what the others were called at the moment. All of them were adorned with either a cream cheese icing or a buttercream. Some of the cake portions were a little on the dry side but most were up to the usual par of richness, and each of the icings of course made the cupcakes sing, hitting every sultry, velvety, dulcet note. The Hot Chocolate, my personal favorite of the batch, had a chocolate buttercream with sprinkles and a small marshmallow on top, evoking wintertime comfort personified, solidified. Although none of the others were duffers, an honorable mention must go to the expectedly brilliant salty/sweet smash-up of the winged Chocolate Potato Chip cupcakes. Aloft on golden wings of deep fried, ridged, mass-produced tuber, they fluttered into my beak like moths to a smoldering campfire after sunset. Cake Pops, like cupcakes themselves, are not typically something I crave, but the chocolate one had an irresistibly fudgy quality (was that fondant?) to it that had me wishing for more. Let's pray to the confectionery gods that Le Cupcake Shoppe sticks to the neighborhood like their treats did to my palate.

Super cute cupcake shop! Stopped in for a treat on my way to get pizza, the owner was friendly and helpful. I decided on a half dozen of the mini cupcakes. Every bite was moist, delicious and flavorful. Not to mentioned the cupcakes are perfectly portioned to help those of us who have no control when it comes to sugar

You know you want to try more than one !!!

After a not so great lunch down the street we stopped in here to make up for it ! So happy we did, the woman (the owner) was so nice and personable. The cupcake selection was pretty decent. Chocolate for me and even non chocolate options for my boyfriend!! I like how the cupcakes are mini, just means you get to try more :) so worth a try !!!

    Yum!

I stopped in here Friday for the first time and it was so cute! The woman that helped me was kind, personable and friendly. I purchased cake pops in both chocolate and vanilla to have as an afternoon treat and were blown away at their freshness and taste. I also purchased 2 dozen mini cupcakes. There were so many different flavors to try that I had a hard time narrowing it down! I try to host a family get together regularly and am always looking for a fun dessert to add to the menu and these were perfect! They were so cute looking and were tasty too! I loved that there was such a wide selection of flavors to accommodate everyone's preferences. It was a perfect way to end a really enjoyable evening and I look forward to using them again in the future.

This shop is part of a larger chain but currently appears to be the only location in the Pittsburgh area. It's located in East Liberty and is really more of a bakery than a coffee shop. The inside is split about 50/50, with half dedicated to seating and the other half serving as a self-serve bakery. You grab a tray and tongs before walking around selecting whichever baked goods catch your eye. They also have display cases filled with cakes and other pastries that need to be kept refrigerated. For my coffee on this morning I went with a 16 oz hot honey lavender macchiato while my wife chose a 16 oz iced tiramisu latte. I have to admit that the name of my drink confused me a bit at first, but it ended up being a latte macchiato as expected. With that being said, I thought it was quite good. The lavender was light enough to be noticeable without overpowering the drink, while the honey added just the right amount of sweetness. The espresso was also present, especially on the finish, where it added both flavor and body. My wife also enjoyed her latte and appreciated the tiramisu flavors throughout. Outside of the coffee, we ordered a number of pastries. My wife chose the Crookie, which is a cookie baked on top of a croissant. My son picked out a chocolate-covered Belgian waffle, while my daughter chose the strawberry soft bread. All of them enjoyed what they ordered, and I think my wife especially loved the Crookie. As for me, I went a little overboard and chose a garlic and cheese croissant, a curry croquette, pork-dusted bread, and a sweet taro cream bread. All of them were delicious in their own way. The garlic and cheese croissant was a nice savory option, with plenty of garlic flavor and a crispy cheese crust. The curry croquette had wonderful warming spices that made it especially flavorful. The pork-dusted bread was definitely the most unusual item. The pork topping reminded me of Wild Bill's Beef Jerky, and somehow those savory flavors worked really well on top of the crunchy laminated bread. Last but certainly not least was the taro cream bread. I was impressed by how light it felt despite being packed with an impressive amount of cream filling. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I'm a sucker for bakeries like this and clearly ordered far more than my waistline needed, but everything I tried was enjoyable. While the coffee was good, the pastries are the real reason to visit, with the coffee serving as an excellent complement.

Few tables line the walls, but if you're lucky enough, you can claim one right before the lunch rush, when PNC employees raid the place and the soup sells out. It's particularly loving and feels like home. There is free Wi-Fi, and no better place to get work done while enjoying lunch Downtown. My only complaint: be sure to say whether it's for here or to go when checking out. According to an employee, a small paper cup holds more coffee than a small ceramic cup. But coffee tastes much better in ceramic; I hate when it's mistakenly poured into paper.
