I stopped by here this past Sunday with my family for our morning coffee. Every weekend we try to hit up a new local coffee shop, and on this morning it happened to be Tous Les Jours. This shop is part of a larger chain but currently appears to be the only location in the Pittsburgh area. It's located in East Liberty and is really more of a bakery than a coffee shop. The inside is split about 50/50, with half dedicated to seating and the other half serving as a self-serve bakery. You grab a tray and tongs before walking around selecting whichever baked goods catch your eye. They also have display cases filled with cakes and other pastries that need to be kept refrigerated. For my coffee on this morning I went with a 16 oz hot honey lavender macchiato while my wife chose a 16 oz iced tiramisu latte. I have to admit that the name of my drink confused me a bit at first, but it ended up being a latte macchiato as expected. With that being said, I thought it was quite good. The lavender was light enough to be noticeable without overpowering the drink, while the honey added just the right amount of sweetness. The espresso was also present, especially on the finish, where it added both flavor and body. My wife also enjoyed her latte and appreciated the tiramisu flavors throughout. Outside of the coffee, we ordered a number of pastries. My wife chose the Crookie, which is a cookie baked on top of a croissant. My son picked out a chocolate-covered Belgian waffle, while my daughter chose the strawberry soft bread. All of them enjoyed what they ordered, and I think my wife especially loved the Crookie. As for me, I went a little overboard and chose a garlic and cheese croissant, a curry croquette, pork-dusted bread, and a sweet taro cream bread. All of them were delicious in their own way. The garlic and cheese croissant was a nice savory option, with plenty of garlic flavor and a crispy cheese crust. The curry croquette had wonderful warming spices that made it especially flavorful. The pork-dusted bread was definitely the most unusual item. The pork topping reminded me of Wild Bill's Beef Jerky, and somehow those savory flavors worked really well on top of the crunchy laminated bread. Last but certainly not least was the taro cream bread. I was impressed by how light it felt despite being packed with an impressive amount of cream filling. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I'm a sucker for bakeries like this and clearly ordered far more than my waistline needed, but everything I tried was enjoyable. While the coffee was good, the pastries are the real reason to visit, with the coffee serving as an excellent complement. read more

We had heard the bakery was phenomenal and they were right. Wow! They have tons of amazing pastries to buy. Everything we got has been amazing. The best thing is the chocolate croissant. I love coming here and being able to select my own desserts. The display cases are always full. The desserts are always fresh. I have yet to come here and work but I always see people here working on laptops. So it's pretty peaceful and quiet for the most part. I have been here a couple times and wow. This place is incredible. All of the baked goods always look so fresh and beautiful, you can tell a lot of time and effort goes into them. The inside is super cute, always extremely clean as well. The workers are kind and very quick to answer any questions you may have. But the real reason for this review is the ube croissant. Oh my gosh this was one of the tastiest things i've ever eaten! The croissant was so flaky and buttery and the ube filling was so good, i want a gallon of that alone. The hard shell on the outside was such a good textural addition too. I also love their filled chocolate chip cookie but didn't get a photo of it. Tous Les Jours was a much needed pick-me-up in the morning! Right when I walked in, I thought it was so cute! There are so many different food options and I honestly wanted to buy it all because it looked so good! I ordered the Tiramisu Iced Latte and wow, it was delicious! The cold foam was amazing and it was so refreshing to have a latte that I could still taste the espresso! The sweetness did not overpower the espresso at all!! Although it was busy, the drinks came out so quickly too! The other latte was also delicious and my friend mentioned the same thing about how the espresso was not overpowered by everything else! I have driven past here for a year now not knowing what they serve. Finally decided to come in and I love it. Heads up there's a process. When you walk in, grab a platter and tongs. Grab whatever item you want, place on the platter and take to register. They will then ask you if you plan on dining in or if it's to go. However the ambiance is nice. Not overly quiet, not too loud. Enough space for you to bring your laptop and work if need be. However the pasties are very delicious. I can't even say what to get first. I liked the variety of items that were available. They had both savory and sweet danishes, pastries, donuts, etc to choose from. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese danish. I don't remember what it was called, but I also got some kind of sugar donut bites filled with Gouda cheese and corn. I do wish the items were warm. They were frequently refilling items throughout the time we were there which was nice to see. I got an iced tiramisu latte which was recommended by the employee at the register. She was very patient with me as it was my first time there and answered my questions! The drink was AMAZING! It is pretty big inside but not a lot of seating and the seating that they do have is very close quarters. I thought this place was really cute. Now I wouldn't say it's appropriate for children that are young. It took a lot to wrangle them because it was very exciting. But with two adults you should be fine. We got a few things to try the one thing that I like the most was the croquette with the curried vegetables inside of it. It was super easy to figure out you just got your tray and then you picked what you wanted from the display cases. Nothing hard about it. I will say that opening the cases and getting things out if you need an accommodations I bet the staff would help you. They also have breads that you can pick up outside of the cases. I also got a unsweetened iced tea and it was delicious. I immediately sent a picture to my friends and I said that we have to go because I wanted to try more of the croquettes that they had. And having an entire plate just for yourself probably looks a little bit crazy so it would be good to go with a few people so we can all try them. Four of us stopped by around 5:30pm yesterday to hang out and catch up for a couple of hours. Tous Les Jours was the perfect place to do that! Most of the tables were taken when we got there but we managed to get a table with chairs for us. We set our stuff down and went to grab trays and pick up pastries from the cases with tongs. We got nine pastries and four drinks total and that ran us a little over $80 with 20% included. The pastries themselves were pretty good! The newer ube donut was full of filling which I liked a lot. I got my birthday treats from this bakery and I am now obsessed! I got the chocolate cake, as well as a variety of different pastries. I was able to receive my order through delivery which is an awesome service option. The desserts had just the right amount sweetness and I appreciate the creative twists in their desserts. Especially the chocolate chip cookie / croissant. Now I have not had a chance to visit the bakery , but the quality of the dessert created the perfect ambiance for my at home birthday celebration. So many great items here! My favorite has to be their strawberry filled croissant sandwich. Everything is self serve (gloves, tongs, and tray directly to your left when you walk in). They have plenty of cafe seating if you want to stay and enjoy. They also have a coffees, teas, and specialty drinks. I can't find anything wrong with this place! It's truly so delicious and such a fair price point. The croissants were so flakey and the chocolate tasted unreal. This place literally made me a sweets person. I also like their large variety of drinks from coffee to tea to matcha. I got the honey lavender matcha, which was DELICIOUS. New favorite bakery! I finally found the one that partialy replaces what I was so used to in Seattle. Items consumed: 1) Croquettes: I had the curry and also the kim chi variants. Soft with crispy, crumbly crust and each had a savory bite without being overly seasoned or salty! I was super surprised about the subdued nature of the kimchi one was as kimchi normally is quite pungent and I expected the worst. 2) Almond croissant - Been looking forever for this one! The outer layer isn't too hard, just the right amount of filling and the perfect balance. Best almond croissant in town! I used to get them all the time in Maryland, but after moving away, it was hard to find Korean baked goods. I am so happy to find TLJ in Pittsburgh! I highly recommend getting salted butter rolls! Such a cute shop! A friend and I wanted to grab a quick bite and she suggested we go here. When you enter, you grab a tray and some tongs then walk around to explore the options. I came in just after 1 pm on a Sunday. Tous Les Jours had opened recently and this is the first time I've seen it without a line out the door. I popped in hoping I've lucked out. Unfortunately, the cases and baskets were pretty empty. The labels suggested more sweet items and cakes were what I missed. There wasn't quite the selection I had hoped. I ended up with a premium red bean bun and jalapeno croissant. The line moved slowly as I made my way to check out. A few patrons gave up and left. As I was checking out I scanned to see if I could quickly eat in, but alas all the tables were taken and more people seemed to be waiting for a spot to open as they waited for their drinks. Good bread. Highly recommend just getting some flavored milk bread and just breaking it down with some buddies. Strawberry drink very strawberry. Didn't take a photo inside the place but the inside seating is really nice and spacious. This was my grandpa's favorite bakery back in Korea and I'm glad that it is here. Love that we finally have a TLJ in town!! This location is pretty big and they have a good selection of breads and pastries. I really love their milk bread loaves since they're so soft and good for sandwiches. The sweet breads are also delicious! They had this honeydew cream bread that I've never seen before and it was pretty good! The cafe is big and good for working while you have your pastries and coffee/tea. It is so difficult to walk in here and have the restraint to not buy everything displayed in these cases and behind the cake counter. Everything looks and smells delicious. The employees are continuously bringing out fresh items to replenish the cases all throughout the day. On a Sunday afternoon around 3pm, I was surprised to see a good amount of people enjoying coffee and pastries in the seating area, working on their computers, catching up with friends, etc. I think there were maybe 4-5 tables still available. The "shopping" area where you navigate between display cases with your cafeteria style tray and tongs is a bit narrow and with a good crowd on hand, it's difficult to really take your time in deciding and selecting items. We didn't have that problem, luckily, as only one or two other people were picking things out at the same time as us. I chose the matcha cream donut and a pain au chocolate. Both were amazing. I paid around $9 before tax and tip. The donut was light and fluffy, stuffed with matcha cream, and was not too sweet at all. Honestly, I would say it was very lightly sweetened. The pain au chocolate was flaky, fresh, light, and had nice chocolate chunk pieces inside. Can't wait to stop back in. read more

Very, very nice pastry shop! They combine numerous different cultures under one roof -- both Asian and French pastries can be found at this place, and both are expertly made. I got to try out their cocoa hazelnut croissant and mango cream donut. Both were very delicious. The croissant was perfectly buttery and flaky, but not excessively so. The inside was packed with a great amount of chocolate. The hazelnut flavor wasn't very strong (I would have liked a bit more), but still, very nice. The mango donut was absolutely delicious. Served in fancy packaging too. Stuffed with an incredible amount of mango cream. I wish I got a photo! It was very tasty, and the dough itself was light, covered in sugar, and delicious. My girlfriend and I checked it out one Sunday for breakfast and tried some of their pastries like the Chocolate Avalanche, Strawberry croissant (her favorite), corn cheese doughnuts, & blueberry sweet cheese danish (my favorite). The corn cheese doughnuts were interesting; we recommend it if you don't mind that combination. I enjoyed their Honey lavender macchiato while Aisha had the Honey lavender matcha latte and we finished with their Green tea cake.
