We came to Palm Desert shopping for a birthday present,we decided to eat before starting to shop. We did not have a reservation but were at the business right at opening. We were seated right away by Ally who was also our server. I ordered the Sciue Scuie spaghetti and my wife had the veal piccata I ordered the Chianti and my wife had an iced tea. The food was simple but the quality was excellent. I would recommend them highly and I can't wait to go back in for dinner. The ambience was that of a classic Italian restaurant, unassuming and it felt homey.

Mom, puppy and I had a very enjoyable evening here last night. We have never been here because it's sort of hidden. Yelp reviews were right about having an older crowd but the service was good and so were the prices for what you get. We got an ad in the desert Sun paper and decided to try it. After reading the reviews on Yelp I decided to order the spiciest dish because most people thought the food lacked flavor. I loved my pasta which had lots of flavor with the spicy sauce and sausage. Mom liked her raviolis well enough but would try something else next time. The bread they served with the olive oil could be better but all and all we enjoyed our meal and we will be back. Our server did say they close in June for summer.

I made reservations for a party of eight and we were seated promptly. The whole place was packed, which was a good thing, but a little noisy. Our waiter was knew his name was Christian. But other staff servers came by and helped him and made sure everything was going smoothly, which it was. The prices for the meals were very reasonable and so were the prices for the wine. We had three bottles of wine, all red Italians. My ravioli radicchio was pretty good. It was stuffed with spinach and lots of cheese. Someone had eggplant Parmigiano, I also had caprice he and my husband had a wedge salad. I shared the caprese and the calamari. No desserts. We were too stuffed.

One downside was the server who took our order, forgot to put it in the computer which caused a 45 minute delay. Taking it in stride he immediately offered to comp the whole meal and drinks, taking the blame upon himself. Stand up guy! I offered to at least pay for the drinks and he wouldn't let me. Regardless of the time delay, we had a great time and the food was outstanding. We will be back.

You might call it "hidden," though, because it is such a small, unassuming kind of place. You might walk right past it, if you're deep in conversation. This is such a pleasant little café, simply decorated, with clever table separations and a happy vibe. It seems a bit like one of those "ladies who lunch" places, although there was a nice mixture of folks, when we stopped in. The owner/chef/servers all have a great energy, provide outstanding service and are happy to discuss recipes, if you are so inclined. (We were). Then, there is the food. Oh my gosh. Delicious. The Tomato Basil Bruschetta was, without doubt, the best one I've ever had. We loved the Chicken Curry and French Dip sandwiches. The wine list was concise, but well selected. Nothing, by the way, was too terribly expensive. In fact, for El Paseo, the prices struck us as a particular bargain. Highly recommended.

Unlike so many other parts of trips out here - the oppressive heat, dodging careening buggies driven by seemingly lost and possibly inebriated golfers, and the discovery of sand in eyes / nose / shoes / liver - it's a tradition that sits very well with me. I'd even go as far as saying that the food here makes all of the above worthwhile. The restaurant has a car park to the rear and limited street parking in front. The interior has a lovely ambiance, quietly refined by subtle lighting and a gentle arboreal theme. I've seen it busy and our party has also had the place to ourselves on late visits, but I'd definitely recommend a reservation just in case especially with a larger party. The staff provide attentive and genuinely caring service, and the portion sizes are substantial and easily justify the more-than-reasonable cost. The food itself though is the reason this place is always a highlight reel spot for me. Every dish is a feast for the eyes as well as the palette, beautifully presented and packed with flavor. My personal go-to is the perfectly seasoned and healthy Harvest Salad, usually with an added protein (the blackened chicken adds a real flavor kick and the variety in texture that I love in great food). Fortunately my partner happily defaults to the opulent and delightful Lobster Lasagna, as I'd be loath to miss out on a bite or three of that too. Appetizer-wise, I'm yet to regret any soup-of-the-day choice. The Zucchini last night was... well... yep, perfect is no overstatement. Sweet Basil is an absolute gem, and a must-visit for any visitor here. The only even remotely negative things I can think to mention is to be aware of the rather early closing time for at least part of the year.

Upon arrival, we were informed that happy hour is only available in the bar area, which we understood completely. When I explained this and requested a low-top table as an accommodation, we were told that no alternative could be provided. I want to respectfully but firmly note that failing to provide accessible seating options for guests with disabilities is not only a gap in hospitality -- it may also raise concerns under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which requires places of public accommodation to make reasonable modifications for individuals with disabilities. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and make the necessary changes. We drove down the street to another establishment who gladly made the accommodations.
