This is not a place to go if you are looking for the 'wow' factor but you will find a good wholesome meal. Hubby had a short Bellaire Brown draft beer and a Shawarma entree with side salad and rice. The meat was very tender and full of flavor. I wanted a salad and so our server convinced me that the Salade Le George was great. I ordered it with the dressing on the side (it came already dressed). Lots of romaine lettuce and slices of oranges but very scant on "distinctive mélange of fruits, légumes & nuts". I should have said something but quite frankly, I was hungry and didn't want to wait any longer. Plus my 3 dining guests had their food already. Oh....and for $3.95, I added chicken swarma to my salad. Let's just say the chicken looked lost on the small side plate it came on. It was good, no complaints on taste. Just a disappointing amount of chicken. I would not recommend this salad combo at $15.95 unless you really want those fantastic tasting oranges. Then it will be worth it. This is one of the best mediterranian restuarants I have been to. The service is really fast, everyone is so friendly and professional. I am huge falafel fan and I was impressed that they have baked falafels. I chose, baked ones (they also have fried) of course, and they were amazing. It came with tahini sauce, salad and pickles. For lunch special they also had soup (lentil soup) that comes with falafel dish (4 falafels). Have to say - the soup was not that good, I am huge Ollies lentil soup fan and making lentil soups at home, and this one was not the best (I make much better, adding lemon and making sure its not too much blended). I think they used potato in it, not sure, but it tasted sort of floury to me. They also have italian nights, when they have italian chefs, cooking italian dishes. This place is the definition of a restaurant that gets better with age. A feeling of personalized hospitality wafts through upon any visit here and the food has steadily improved. This should now be considered one of the 3-4 best Middle Eastern restaurants in an area inundated by them. I seemingly judge most restaurants in the category by their fatoosh and this is the best I've had. Radishes and prolific use of parsley is a must, as is that intensely citrusy and sumac infused dressing. Their version with the added feta and garlic roasted chicken is a dish I could eat 3 times a week. Falafel is also one of the 2 or 3 best iterations I've ever had. We came here for a nice dinner for my mother in laws birthday. She has many allergies and we called before we came in. She had an allergic reaction to everything they gave her, even tho she gave them her card with allergies. It was her birthday and she couldn't eat anything and had to watch us all eat. We ordered dessert and they were out of the one I wanted. Unfortunately we won't be coming back here. The waitress was kind, but the fact is that we called ahead of time about the allergy issue. We ordered the combo for 4 and they missed items on it and made it seem like it was our fault that they just got new menus today and their kitchen staff doesn't know what the new items are. Incredibly slow service. Like it's bad... If you go here clear your schedule... at least a 2 hour engagement. Bugs are bad in outside seating (hornets) making bad food even more unbearable. 100% will not be returning. I will admit I am biased because I do not like Mediterranean food, and was dragged here against my will. That being said even compared to traditional Mediterranean food it still falls below expectations. 2 and a half hours later I got my food.... yuck. Okay, based on what I ordered, this is some of the greatest food I've ever had the luxury of experiencing. A friend and I decided to try this place the other night and ordered the chicken artichoke dish(which came with mashed potatoes and was a hearty meal) and the falafels( which come with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and the best tzaziki dip). They also serve warm pita bread with all the food which we saved for the falafel dish so we could make little stuffed pitas. The chicken dish was literally the finest cuisine I'd ever tasted and the falafels were amazing-crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. We loved our food and the manager came to the table to chat with us for a bit. He takes pride in his restaurant and I can see why. The only, only flaw I have was that the booths were completely wooden and a bit uncomfortable. read more

Took a hour and a half to have dinner. Wait staff was not organized and had to come back 3 times to ask us about the order. It is really over priced $17.00 for 4 grape leaves and one side dish. The quality of the food was below average. We had to come home and take a Zantac and still feel horrible. :-( The portions are really small. Think small plate, and cut that in half. We picked up take out on the way home because we were still hungry after spending $45.00 on the worst dinner I ever had in my life. Really would not recommend. Just had a wonderful dinner at Le George... not sure what kind of vendetta the other reviewer had tonight, but our experience was just the opposite. Everything was super tasty and delightfully seasoned. I always like to see local wine on the list and they had an excellent Semi-Dry Riesling from Grand Traverse. My husband tried the national Lebanese drink called Arak, which has a licorice flavor that he enjoyed. Pastry Cigarette appetizer was tasty as was the falafel, fatoosh salad, grape leaves & schwarma. Fantastic food, professional attentive service, and great atmosphere. I really like this place. First time here. Went with another couple, and for starts, we ordered up a plate of hummus and a plate of baba ganoush. Very fresh tasting hummus, light with a tinge of lemon - excellent. As you know, baba G. can be a bit random - Le George's is mildly smoky, yet has a full flavor - I don't like super smoky Baba's anyway, so it was perfect - and we received A LOT of the fresh house made mini pitas [don't quite know what the other reviewers were complaining about!]. It was so good, I ended up eating way too much and was kinda full by the time my entree arrived. I selected the red lentil soup, which is indeed of a finer texture, but I found it to be hearty and very flavorful - comfort food city! The others ordered up the the yogurt based gazpacho, which is apparently an acquired taste. They didn't care for it that much. One of our party ordered up the Lamb Shank - very tender meat on the bone wonderfullness with a tangy tomato'ey sauce underneath, superb flavor and perfectly cooked. My wife really enjoyed the majadra lentil bowl entree [forgot the name?], the exotic spices therein had us wondering what they were, but all agreed it was a very tasty dish - and the lentils were cooked nicely, which most places don't manage to do. I ended up ordering the 'dinner for one' [of which another of our party also selected], which is a platter containing a broiled lamb kibbee "log" [?], and one lamb kabob, and one chicken kabob [on real metal skewers]. I've rarely had better - the lamb kabob was so tender and had that wonderful hot char-grill flavor. The kibbee log had a nice black peppercorn spicy snap to the flavor and was very addictive. The chicken also was cooked perfectly - juicy with nice char on the outside. All the kabobs reminded me of how many times I've gotten these things only to be disappointed by overcooking - these three were simply delicious - -Le George's has it locked down solid when it comes to the cooking. As for the service, no complaints here. Very attentive, friendly and polite. We asked for another bread basket of pita, and it arrived promptly. Water's were filled up regularly, and they made sure I had a replacement beer right as my first one ended. The dining room is nicely laid out, the L-shaped bar is pretty cool, and I enjoyed being able to see the chefs cooking in the open kitchen. Nicely done! Side note here: I originally ordered the stuffed Kousa [a baby winter squash stuffed with rice and lamb] and the Baby Eggplants stuffed Kousa-style. I'd never had this before so I was a little bummed out when Mr. Le George came over and told me that they ran out, and only had the vegetarian versions. After seeing how awesome my friend's 'dinner for one' plate looked, I requested that as my dinner substitute. The very gracious and apologetic, Mr. Le George nicely brought over four of their house made spicy cheese pastry rollup appetizers to make up for the inconvenience. It's nice to see an owner care about his restaurant like that, and I'd rather eat at a place that runs out of "made today" stuff, than a place that grabs another tub of pre-made out of the freezer, so win-win, in my book. Le George is not your typical steamy/greasy windowed gut buster Mediterranean-ish restaurant. Unlike some of the negative reviews, I found the portions to be a bit on the large side, if anything, so I'm a bit skeptical of the naysayers complaint. The prices are not cheap, nor expensive. I do agree that for what you pay, the quality of the ingredients and the care in which they are prepared and cooked, are well worth the price. However, there are much better Middle Eastern restaurants out there (Sheesh, La Marsa) that give you much larger portions for less money. I understand they are a new restaurant and was understanding about the length of time it took to get a drink, all three of our dinners being served ten minutes apart (and one person's order not being complete and arriving at the end of the meal). We did not complain about any of this. What I could not understand was ordering a child's dinner for an 8 year old and being charged for the adult portion. However, the waitress said she would take care of it but the owner proceeded to come over and ask us if the portion was large or small (how do I know?) and whether we "pointed" to the child's dinner. We all speak English so do we have to point? I heard him murmur that he would do something. He ended up taking a few dollars off. We ended up talking to him once more and he finally made the adjustment. Why would the owner risk future business over 5-10 dollars? I have been waiting for Le George to open in downtown Northville for a quite a while. Northville as a whole has very few good restaurants, and I was hoping to see something unusual and delicious. The decor is quite beautiful and nicely done. I ordered a carry-out: fattoush, hummous, and a lamb shwarma sandwich. My bill came to $23. I am a chef and do not mind paying a high-dollar for good food. What I do not appreciate, however, is paying over $20 for something that tastes as if it should have cost about half as much. The salad was flavorless and tasted like wet lettuce. There was no seasoning or balance to the dressing at all. It was incredibly under-seasoned. The sandwich was dry and I could only eat half of it because it was so tough. What tipped me over the edge, though, was the hummous that I paid over $5 for, amounted to LESS THAN 1/2 CUP of hummous. The layer that was spread onto the bottom of the to-go container was a shameful amount. As I mentioned, the decor was lovely, but the food was a true disappointment. I can over-look a "miss" once in a while, but I can't accept paying $6 for less than 4 oz. of hummous. It just makes a bad meal go from bad to worse. I felt taken-advantage of. read more

ooo... my....goodness!! I can hardly wait to tell my friends about this place! My salad was crisp, fresh, the dressing flavorful yet not overpowering. My colleague had the lentil soup and was so pleased to find it missing that "sandpaper" aftertaste that often accompanies lentil soup! Not a drop was left. The (warm) bread and garlic which preceded our meal was .. perfect. And I usually don't partake of bread .. this was worth it! Our entrees were ... perfect. So many flavors, so delightfully melding - we hardly spoke because we were SO enjoying the parade happening in our mouths. To be honest, I'm pretty difficult to please, restaurant wise - if it's not better than I can make, well ... why bother eating it? When we did speak it was to express delight in our meal. The manager was trolling to make sure everyone was content, but did so intelligently - the waitstaff were attentive, respectful, non-obtrusive. I eat out a lot, and this is the best restaurant currently in Northville, and one of the best restaurants in the area. The freshness and taste of all the items we tasted was what really stands out for me. Northville needs more higher-end restaurants like this. I will be back here often. read more
