Very good Mediterranean Cuisine. The cabbage rolls were excellent. I had a chicken schwarma entree, and I thought it was delicious. My fiance has a delicious Mediterranean chicken salad, and she loved it. My fiance's parents had crushed lentil soup that was really good. Just had an amazing stuff squish this is the best place in Northville This is such a great place in Northville. The food is authentic Lebanese for the northern region of the country. The Kebbe (Lebanese steak tartare) is to died for it is that good. I suggest if this is your first visit, order for a party of 2 or 4 dinner special. You'll have a variety of meats and chicken; not to mention plenty of rice. Make room for the kafta and the Lebanese coffee made by George himself. Ask for George son. I was so excited to try this place after reading the reviews and the menu. We came to celebrate our engagement with our parents, and the place was empty--which is not a big deal for a Tuesday night. The food took FOREVER. After about 30 minutes we were told that a new chicken "cone tower" was cooking and that it would be a while. After about another 35 minutes, we got our food. Mostly everything tasted good (although the portions were quite small for a Mediterranean restaurant). However, my dad ordered lamb schwarma, and it was terrible. I'm now reading another review saying that something was microwaved--this makes sense. It was almost candied in spices, and was incredibly tough--didn't even taste like lamb! We sent it back and asked for chicken instead... fifteen minutes later we got it. I was ready for this to be a great mid-way meeting place for family--not going to happen. We paid full price for a very mediocre/bad dinner. This was disappointing! read more

George does a pretty nice business, but we've seen that instead of covering rising costs with small price increases, he has moved to the cheap. No complimentary pita bread and tahini anymore with your meal. No fattoush salad as a side, just a bowl of lentil soup. Mashed potatoes offered as a side with the meal instead of the much better cracked wheat. read more

I have been to this restaurant 5 times. Loved it every time. The food excellent, wine good, service good (except for one waitress that would not leave us alone.) I am surprised by Katie and Liz's review becuase this is not a fast food place, it is a sit down, dining experience. I found the food to be fresh, delicious and the portions ample. I always have to take home some of my food. It is delightful that the owner stops by and says hello and tells you about Lebanese dishes you may not know. I went here for lunch and I got the falafel wrap. The falafel was great, as was the pita, but I wasn't a fan of the pickles. They are a bit different than typical Arabic pickles. Service was a bit slow, but the owner was very nice and helpful! Stopped in today for lunch during the Buy Michigan Festival. Not a lot of people inside. Like the decor, a little French, a little Mediterranean and a little antique shoppy. Shelby was our server and she was polite and very friendly. She brought some bread and garlic spread to start us off. It was three pieces of small pita and the garlic spread is very garlicky .We ordered a couple of appetizers and a Falafel wrap. I had the stuffed cabbage and the pastry cigarettes. Both were the appetizers. The pastry cigarettes came as 3 stuffed with herbed cheese and 3 stuffed with spiced meat all in a thin pastry wrap. Rather small but tasty, herbed cheese was better filling. The stuffed cabbage was very different then what I have usually had. These came as 3 long rolls of cabbage, think foot long hot dog size, stuffed with a fluffy filling of spiced meat and rice. The kicker was the lemon mint sauce that was drizzled over it as opposed to tomato based sauce. Very tasty. The Falafel wrap was pretty standard. Service was good until the place got busy, inside and out, then Shelby had to do a lot of running with help from owner and other staff. She also seemed to be the bartendress. I would go back for lunch again but dinner prices may keep me from trying them. All in all this is a go to place in my book. read more

This is hands down the best Middle Eastern restaurant I have ever been to. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and surpassed my expectations. The service was impeccable and food absolutely delicious. I am Lebanese and live in Dearborn. I am surrounded by Mediterranean food at every corner and mom is an excellent cook as well. With that said, this is still my favorite. We ordered a falafel and a calamari appetizer. Our entrees were the chicken ghallabah and tenderloin skewers with grilled vegetables on the side. The meat was tender and seasoned perfectly. Even the coffee after dinner was great. I never leave reviews but I was so pleased with our experience, it would have been a shame not to share. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant. read more

What a marvelous meal! Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, the owner (George) was friendly and helpful, and the food was plentiful and delicious! Excellent place for Lunch. Two of us ordered chili (beef and lamb), lentil soup, artichoke pie and chicken kabob. All were excellent. Not sure what people mean by portion sizes and prices. More than enough food, much better than average Middle Eastern fare... total bill was less than $19 for 2! Hope they keep lunch on Sundays, cannot think of a better gourmet deal on a Sunday. read more

My family loves Le George! It's a slice of Europe in my own backyard. And as one who traveled quite a bit before we started a family, I often yearn for such a European fix. WELL, THAT WAS A FIRST...That's a negative star! George, the owner, comes to our table shortly after my wife and I received our food which was at approx. 6:40pm and tells us that the our table was reserved for 7 people at 7:00pm. 5 min later, George dropped off the bill. Another 5 min go by and George is back, paused at the end of our table not saying anything until I asked him why he was being so rude, amougst other thing. He went on to say that his hostess made a mistake and that there was people waiting for our table. THEN he complained that my wife and I shared a meal(a $19 shawarma combo and 2 glasses of wine at $7 ea) which George said was NOT allowed. We frequently dine at middle eastern restaurants and typically shawarma combo is a ton of food and plus my wife wasn't that hungry. We figured we would have our typical dinner with several glasses of wine and desert and call it a night. Instead, we have a Northville business owner that decides that to pick on me and wife so he can replace us with 7 other customers. I'm a 53 year old man that grew up in Plymouth and we've lived in Northville for 16 years. My wife and are both MIDWEST regional sales professionals. We go out to eat with client all the time and at least 4-5 times a week with just me and my wife and this was a first. We ended up leaving the place shortly after 7pm and after having a spirited discussion with George. As far as the food is concern, the servings are very small and it's overpriced. There are plenty of other great places to eat in Downtown Northville.. read more

I agree with Liz W below. This is overpriced for above average middle eastern fare. The wine pour is stingy, the portions of hummous and tabbouleh are scant -- and while tasty,,t the location doesn't command double and triple the prices at, say, La Pita in Dearborn. The waiters are inexperienced and don't understand service recovery. The owner does, though, and seems like a gracious gentleman. They are experimenting with a guest chef on certain days of the week -- fairly expensive, but interesting. I think they should just commit to gingo in a different direction with their menu. -And re the wine, either charge less for the tiny pours, or charge more and pour more -- you have to excel at something-- either bar or food; preferably both.... and Le George does neither. Maybe turn it into a great Italian place? read more

My wife and I stopped in here at 6pm after viewing the excellent "Buy Michigan "event in Downtown Northville. It was a mistake. We both ordered the lintel soup which was ok. Then I ordered the meat Shawarma and my wife ordered the Crab Cakes. The waitress kept saying our order was taking a while because the crab cakes were made fresh. Twice she said this. Finally at 6:50 I got the managers attention and told him that if we did not have our order in three minutes I was leaving. He said the crab cakes took a while because they were made fresh. I told him if that's the case he should put on the menu that they will take 45minutes. Our order came in three minutes. The "fresh" crab cakes were a joke. A strange taste and no lumpy crab---looked and tasted like all filling. My Shawarma was room temperature and a little tough. The wines were costly for a small pour. The manager never apologized. The owner could not be nicer, actually serving us at the bar and providing my friend with a drink that she never had before. The wine was delicious and the hospitality was amazing. But we were unable to get last minute reservations that evening, understandably so. The next day I heard from another friend that the food is fantastic here and immediately made reservations for Friday night when my sister is coming in from the west coast. A menu with lamb shank and tarte au fromage is sure to be great! I can't wait to go back and will leave a review when I taste the food! read more

I will not go back......Owner came to our table rudely telling us that we needed to place our order now....we were drinking wine first.......he obviously wanted us to eat and leave so he could cycle more customers.....I ordered the Artichoke chicken which upon arrival had a pile of sliced onions on top with miniscule artichokes. Onions are not in the description at all.......when I asked if I could have the onions removed and have a bit more artichoke, I was advised that it would take a long time for them to get my meal back to me....so I may want to remove the onions myself.......okay did that and then the owner came to the table and told me NO you cannot have more artichokes that is the portion you get . I was very glad I ordered the grilled vegetables ..the chicken was delicious with them and on my way home I stopped at the grocery to buy marinated artichokes ($2.62 for a whole jar) and added them to my leftovers. Our waitress, Shelby was stellar.....I feel sorry for her however working for such a rude, pretentious owner. $18.95 for chicken breast...I think they could spare a few artichokes. Also I agree with the other review.....I have never seen such a small fattoush salad......the French flair is in the small but pretty presentation. read more

So me and my girlfriend sit down in la George to eat. I order the stuffed eggplant on special and she orders the chicken shawarma dinner. With our dinners we order lentil soup.... As I'm looking into the kitchen I see two plates go into the (MICROWAVE) we are the only people in the restaurant and I start to wonder..... A few mins later they bring us our soup out and I immediately ask the server if these just came out of the microwave and she panics and says oh no don't worry don't worry so I say what was in there and she replies that was lamb shank? I say why would you microwave lamb shank and she walks away from me???? I get up and we walk out! Horrible experience ... On top of it he's on average about 25$ per plate I don't need a 60$ lunch made of microwaved left overs NO THANKS read more

George has always been kind and eager to please whenever we visit his restaurant. The food is delicious French inspired Mediterranean. Try the ratatouille, it is awesome. He has recently made a change to his menu to include some more popular American foods, so I imagine that anyone could find something they like. read more

Must have been a bad day looking at the other reviews, because the soup was very watery, bread modestly served, and the main dishes lacked flavor and substance. it seemed that the restaurant was scrimping on everything.
