Visiting Zinc Café and Bar in Orange once again after a while. I've always liked this restaurant and the vibrant Old town Orange. Modern rustic interior. Laid back vibes with good background music. The menu hasn't changed. Lots of good options. (See pictures for full menu) Everything is just as good as i remember it. Our waitress Yesenia recognized us and was super nice. Had brunch at Zinc Cafe & Bar on a Sunday with an 11 a.m. reservation. Would definitely recommend making reservations ahead of time since it gets pretty busy during brunch. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, though the indoor dining area is on the smaller side. The bar area is even more intimate, with only a few two-person tables and has a much darker, moodier atmosphere compared to the bright feel of the main dining room. I tried the Blueberry Scone ($5), Bacon Onion White Pizza ($20), and Truffle Mushroom Burger ($25). Unfortunately, the scone was the biggest disappointment as it was quite dry and I wasn't a fan of the walnuts. The pizza and burger, however, were both solid choices but nothing that stood out. My favorite part of the meal was actually the shoestring fries, which were perfectly crispy and well-seasoned. Service was just okay. After taking our order, our server never came back to check on us, refill our water glasses, or see if we needed anything else. One thoughtful touch was having sinks located outside the restrooms for anyone who just wanted to wash their hands. That said, the restroom layout felt a bit awkward. The doors were difficult to maneuver, especially with the toilets located immediately inside, and the toilets themselves were noticeably low. Parking can be challenging on weekends, particularly during the breakfast and lunch rush. The interior is an interesting combo of retro and modern feel. We chose to sit inside and I immediately felt relaxed and comfortable here. We came for brunch on a Monday and were seated immediately. Our charming waitress was very friendly and offered excellent recommendations when trying to make decisions between various options. I decided on the Bacon Gruyere Omelet and an Arnold Palmer to drink. The omelet was made with 3 eggs, so was good-sized, wrapped around gruyere cheese, avocado, and applewood bacon. A slice of avocado, a piece of bacon, and a large dollop of sour cream sat on top. It was delicious! If you love gruyere cheese you will be happy with this. It came with a side and I chose potatoes. These big, mouth-watering chunks of fried potatoes had a fantastic seasoning. I normally never finish breakfast potatoes but every piece of these vanished. The Arnold Palmer was a bit weak in both lemon and tea flavor but was still enjoyable. This is definitely in my top places to eat in the Orange Circle area. read more

Just visited zinc cafe recently with my girlfriend and it was a very nice brunch spot. Very nice inside and the outside seating was also a very nice spot to enjoy the weather and the atmosphere outside. The salmon Benedict was very good and well worth the price and our server was very kind and help with the menu as it was our first time. I Forgot to take a photo of the New York cheesecake but that's was a 10/10 as well. They had a lot of options when it came to desserts or bake goods that I would wish to try later on. read more

I'm always going on long walks around downtown Orange and I've passed this cafe numerous times. I finally decided to stop by and I'm glad I did! They have great patio seating and everything on the menu sounded so good it was hard to make a decision. We ended up going with the Zinc Club sandwich with a cup of the soup of the day. It was delicious and very fresh the bacon and fresh tomatoes were the star but the soup of the day was actually really good. If I remember correctly it was called California harvest or something like that, it was hearty and flavorful. My wife got the Thai chicken salad and that was also a great choice. Came for brunch today and had a lovely time! Zinc is located in Old Town Orange about a block away from the main circle in the old fruit exchange building. There's a bunch of street parking around the area (mainly paid via Park Mobile), but it can get filled up depending on when you come. The restaurant is really cute with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and you can make reservations online so definitely take advantage of that. Service was good, the staff was super friendly and quick to seat us, however the wait time for our food was definitely on the longer side. That being said, all the food was totally worth the wait. Their Baja fish tacos were delicious, with the fish being fresh, crispy, and flavorful. The French toast was great as well, and the Middle Eastern breakfast being another standout. The food is on the pricier side, but for the vibes, quality, and flavor I'd say it was worth the treat. Definitely one of the better Zinc locations I've visited, and I will absolutely be back for brunch and dinner again. We were then offered a spot directly in the sun, and they refused to offer an umbrella, so we declined. We were then offered a micro table in the Bar...so we opted to wait longer for a suitable spot. Thirty minutes later, we met our server, Leo who accidentally placed our drink orders to a different table, and got our food order wrong. We never saw him again. Had to flag down other employees for ranch, water, and the bill. We all agreed the coffee and matcha were the worst we've ever had. The $22 lox bagel was laughable -- my friend could barely eat any of it -- and to top it off, we were charged for a drink that should've been comped. I've ordered twice for pick up now. It's slowly becoming one of my favorite carry-outs. Their menu has a large range of items to choose from. Today, I fell in love with the tiramisu. The fact I was also able to order it with a burger and pizza. The burger is good, personally the truffle mushroom burger had a little too much mushroom for me, so I recommend the regular cheeseburger. This was such a terrible experience. I asked the kitchen if they could accommodate a seed oil allergy. I was told everything in the restaurant was cooked in either canola oil or a blend of canola oil and olive oil. Except one item on the kids menu- a grilled cheese with fruit. Ok, that's fine. As long as there's something. My daughter and I got the same dish, and the kitchen said it was allergen safe. The kids meal is $14. It's a sandwich, fruit, orange juice, and a dessert. The sandwich came out cold, and the cheese unmelted. The fruit was totally wilted, obviously leftovers from brunch (we arrived at 4:30pm). My daughter got the juice, but I let the waitress know how bad the fruit was. For that reason the waitress did comply the meal, but refused to give my daughter the dessert her meal came with. I got the same meal, for $15. They uncharged me but gave me the same meal. I have no problem paying an adult price for an adult meal but really? It was the only allergen friendly dish the kitchen was willing to make, and you uncharged me for a kids meal? At least toss in something to make it an "adult plate." Waitress had a major attitude that I asked her to check a few different entrees with the chef before we finally found one the kitchen would make with butter. The truffle fries were decent, but the pepperoni pizza had a thick layer of flour at the base (to prevent it from sticking during baking)...so thick of a layer that every bite had a mouthful of raw flour, not very appetizing. For my kids who typically LOVE pizza to not finish the pizza at Zinc...it told me that they didn't enjoyed it. The avocado toast is just strange. I just want a simple and delicious version. The pile of radishes were flavorless and did not add much to the appeal or flavor, and the smashed avocado had no flavor...shockingly sad. Service was friendly but a bit lacking in attention. Made reservations on Resy and dined here for breakfast. I requested an indoor table, which there were plenty available. Ordered the Zinc Benedict ($25), Bacon Gruyere Omelet ($18), Lemon Ricotta Pancakes ($15), and Truffle Fries ($9). The Zinc Benedict had two poached eggs on an English muffin, avocado, smoked salmon, and hollandaise with a side of salad or potatoes. The poached eggs were perfectly poached and gushed yolk when cut through. The english muffin was soft with slight crispy edges while the smoked salmon added the salty profile to complement the creamy eggs. I was also a fan of the salad, which had a light creamy vinaigrette. The bacon gruyere omelet had three eggs, applewood bacon, gruyere cheese, avocado, sour cream with choice of potatoes or greens. The omelete was huge, enough to share with someone. The potatoes were fried with some crispy seasonings. I didn't taste much of the gruyere since there was a sparse amount and I wish the bacon was more crispy. The lemon ricotta pancakes had ricotta cheese, lemon zest, berries, maple syrup. These were stacked pancakes that tasted like regular pancakes. I did not taste (or see) any ricotta cheese and lemon. My guess is that they were mixed into the batter, but the flavors did not come through. The truffle fries were skinny fries that were quite crispy and aroma of truffle oil. Service was on point as well. Our server was attentive and friendly providing advice on the menu along with suggestions. The restaurant is hip and very welcoming and had kind of a trendy vibe to it. Overall we thought it was a great experience and look forward to being back to try other items on the menu. Turns out there's one near our home in Laguna Beach, so we'll probably try that out sometime soon. read more
