This place is something unexpected in Kentwood but it's a must go! The naan bread with garlic paste is heaven. The wraps are so affordable and filling. My favorite is the falafel wrap. Also don't forget to try their fresh squeezed juices! I recommend the cobra! read more

I like Le Kabob and we get carry out or go there periodically. Both my wife and I love the hummus chicken. It's a very large portion and comes with salad or soup plus choice of fries, rice, and veggies. You can do half veggies half rice ect which is also nice. The ambiance is somewhat diner like if you dine in and sometimes the service is slow, so I don't recommend going there if you're in a huge hurry. They have a juice bar which is very delicious, and that can be a nice way to pass the time while you're waiting for your food. If you eat in, they make really tasty, fresh pita bread and give you some sort of garlic spread to go with it. This garlic spread....it's tasty but it is fairly lethal in terms of its garlic-ness. You would not want to eat that stuff before a date!!!! Which brings me to my only issue with Le Kabob; it's incredibly garlicky! I know that Middle Eastern cuisine does feature garlic heavily but my goodness, I will be tasting garlic for at least two days after eating here! However it is always delicious going down and if you love garlic you are in for a treat!!! read more

This is a great place to go if you are craving good Mediterranean food. I have to thank my fellow Yelpers for this one because the reviews are right on point. First of all, before our waitress even took our order she stopped at the table and gave us a fresh basket of hot out of the oven pita breads. They come with a really great garlic spread. We ordered the stuffed grape leaves with meat as an appetizer. It arrived quickly but this was a miss. It needed some acid to complete the dish. I ordered the lunch special of Shish Kafta which is ground lamb meat with parsley, onions & spices. It comes with your choice of soup/salad and fries or rice. My wife ordered the Shish Tawook which is Marinated & charbroiled chicken breast cubes with onions. We both upgraded to the Greek salad for $1.00 extra and I am glad we did. This is an excellent salad with fresh feta, black olives, sliced beets and very lightly dressed. When my lunch came to the table I found I two large pieces of Kafta with a large order of fries. I used one of the hot pitas and placed the tahini sauce on the pita with a piece of the Kafta and ate it like a gyro. I was only able to eat about half my lunch because the portions are LARGE. I loved my lunch but when I finally looked up at my wife I could see she wasn't enjoying her Tawook. The chicken really didn't have a great flavor -- just kind of plain. I would gladly come back to Le Kabob because I thought the price point was good and I enjoyed my lunch. I recommend. read more

It was better than I expected. Reviewers are right that the service is slow but the food is fairly good. The toum (garlic paste) was the best part definitely strong but if I wanted it weak I would just make aioli. They brought out fresh pitas. My lamb was tender, fattouch lightly dressed with sumac. The hummus was too fluffy for me and needed some more tahini but it was still good. The portions were large for the price. It's no La Shish on Michigan circa 1999, but definitely worth a repeat visit. Update: went back and basically same conclusion: the service is still slow but the food is good. Tried the lentil soup and it was spiced by someone who knows what they are doing! Also my spouse loved the ice tea, actual tea was involved in producing this, not just a mix from Sysco. read more

I come here literally only to eat their pita bread and the hummus. Their house made garlic dip is absolutely amazing. I don't recommend their falafel sandwich. It's not very authentic and leaves a lot to the imagination. But like I said, PITA BREAD is amazing. read more

I had been to the other Le Kebob on Alpine several years ago and liked the overall atmosphere a little better, but that one is now closed. Today, the pita bread wasn't warm and fresh out of the oven as was the case with the Alpine location. I had the chicken shawarma, the house salad and baklava, which were all excellent. The baklava was downright superb. The only disappointment regarding the actual food was the room temperature pita bread. Pita bread is far better fresh out of the oven. The non-food oddity was regarding the piped in music. I used to eat in Dearborn regularly, so I have more than a passing familiarity with mid-eastern restaurants and the music found within. Today was special, however. There was about a 15 minute passage at fairly high volume where it sounded like the singer was getting tortured by some means. It was distracting, frayed my nervous system and pulled my attention away from the excellent food and otherwise fine dining experience. I'd go back again, but I think only if I had ear plugs. Actually, my favorite mid eastern food in the Grand Rapids area is a Turkish restaurant in Ada called Zeytin. They have piped in music there as well, plus a full bar. However, at Zeytin, I've never heard the singer sound like they were in the process of getting flogged as was the case today. read more

I had heard really good things about Le Kabob, and really love Sheshco on the North end of town. The menu is nearly identical, so I didn't think we could go wrong. Unfortunately, it was terrible! To begin with, we did have an inexperienced server, and she did initially forget to bring the garlic spread out with our bread, but I'm not concerned about minor details like that. The server did fine. She kept our drinks full, and kept bringing more bread. She had little to do with our horrible experience. The garlic spread itself was the first thing I thought was a bit off. I've had the spread many times at Sheshco and am always amazed at how something made out of raw garlic and jalapeño can taste so smooth and creamy. It defies logic really. But not at Le Kabob. At Le Kabob it tasted how you would expect vast amounts of raw garlic would taste. Harsh and hot. Not very appealing. That was the first disappointment. Then I tasted the baba ghanouj. Now I understand that they use roasted eggplant, and that we should expect some smoky flavor to come through, but give me a break! That's not smokiness. That's burnt. It was gross. And apparently our 1st day server knew enough about it to tell me it was supposed to taste that way. I'm guessing someone had complained before us, and that's what the manager told her to say. Strike 1. These were minor issues, and I would have completely forgot about them had our entrée been satisfactory. We ordered the sample platter for 2. It's the same thing we've had many times at Sheshco, and we are always happy with it. There's falafel and kibbe, a few other interesting items we can't pronounce but certainly enjoy eating, and the meat. Chicken and Lamb shwarma. I dug into a kibbe first, and was pretty happy with it. My wife tried the lamb first though, and pointed out that it was cold. She wasn't exaggerating. It was actually cold to the touch. I touched a piece of chicken as well, and it was also cold to the touch. Now it's the middle of July, and one of the hottest weeks we've had in 3 years. It's pushing 95 degrees outside. Serving food that is cold to the touch means that you took it out of the cooler and placed it directly on the plate. And that was strike 2. What happened next made this one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. Our server got stuck on a phone call, so we sat there waiting for someone to come by our table for some time. Finally one of the other servers came and checked on us. We pointed out the things that weren't up to par. She initially apologized and said she would go talk to the manager. She came back a few minutes later. She relayed a message from the kitchen telling us that the garlic spread was made the same way as always, the baba ghanouj is smoked, so it's supposed to taste that way, and as for our cold shwarma, they were willing to give us 25% off. In other words, shut up you ignorant American. Strike 3. I've rambled on long enough. Basically, once our original server got off the phone and made it back to our table, we told her that she had done nothing wrong but we would like to speak to the manager. The gentleman came out and once again proceeded to make us feel like ignorant Americans who don't know what Mediterranean food should taste like. He argued with me about the baba ghanouj, amongst other things, before eventually agreeing to comp our meal. I've never rushed out of a place so fast. Will never go back. read more

I love the garlic sauce but its pretty strong and not for the faint of heart. The stuff is like Vampire Kryptonite! I've eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. I came here with a larger group for a "feast". The waitress was very accommodating and quick to attend to everyone. There were always refills when something ran out. The food was delicious. The bread was fresh and warm, the salads were green and dressed well. The meat was well prepared and served beautifully. The beef was tender and juicy, and the lamb was savory. So one of mine and my husbands favorite cuisines is Mediterranean! Like we absolutely love it regardless of the smell of garlic that seeps from your pours for days on end for indulging in the glorious food. This is our go to place here in GR kind of by default because there are not many Mediterranean restaurants in the city and those we have tried we are not impressed! We both grew up in the east side of the state and agree that the best Mediterranean food we have had is from restaurants around there. I think le kabob can run overpriced. This last time my husband got the beef shawarma and it was dry and I got a Shish combo. I would also agree that my Kafta and chicken were dry. It did come with a decent amount of food in the combo for one. However, I am still partial to the restaurants on the east side. We still enjoy their food and go there when we don't want to cook Mediterranean. So for sure give it a try because I would say it is the best if it's kind in GR. We go here every couple weeks. Tonight we went and my husband got the beef sauté like he always does. And like he always does he asked for extra mushrooms...normally we are either not charged at all or $1 at the most. Not tonight...tonight they charged $4.99 for extra mushrooms!!! And then the kitchen guy refused to let the waitress take the charge off or reduce it. I will be calling the manager and if it is not handled we will not be going back. Went here on a late rainy night. Excellent food and even though we were late to dine here around 945 (closing time is 10) the server was very pleasant and helpful. We had the freshly baked bread with the garlic spread which was amazing but couldn't stop eating it due to the freshness of both the bread and the spread! Beware it might fill you up. Hummus was bland, tabbouli was soggy. We ordered the vegetarian combo for two. The platter was sparse. Vegetables lacked flavor and undercooked carrots/over cooked eggplant. Spinach pie was bland. Grape leaves were forgettable. Biggest offense was the blackened, charred, overlooked moujadrah rice that I was really looking forward to. Onions on moujadrah were like dust. WATCH OUT! Very Unfriendly, they don't care about your opinion and you may not get what you order... Had bad experience May 30th, 21 - placed order for 15 meals (over $200). Being COVID time, I needed the meals to be prepared individually as they normally do BUT, when I picked up my meals, it was in family style. The girl told me that THEY make large orders into family style and I should have stated that the meals need to be prepared individually. (I ordered individually so why would I state what is the obvious?) Also, I did not get what I paid for and the girl handling my order said to me, "you don't need it". Well, I paid for it so why can't I get what I paid for? She didn't want to talk about it and walked away. I was nice about my inquiry but also wanted an explanation as to why I didn't need something that was included in the meal ( it was salad dressing, need it for the salad). I tried to call a few days later - could not reach the manager or owner. I called the owner via the phone on their facebook - not response. So hence my warning... don't get disappointed. read more

We've been here many times. The beef and lamb kabobs are excellent. They always cook them to perfection. Rice very good. Salad delicious and huge. Lemonade is tasty. I highly recommend this place. Someone asked me if the place is fancy. I would say it would be similar to most sit down restaurants in this day and age such as Fridays, Coney Island, etc but with different decor. read more

This is an update based on our latest visit. My fiance' and I stopped in to grab a late lunch/early dinner. Because the portions are so huge, we decided to share the Ghallaba and Hummus and got an extra soup. The food was fantastic as always. I could write a whole review about the food. However, this update is about the vastly improved service that we received from the same server we had on our first visit. It's not that the service was that bad on the first visit, but it was definitely better this last time. The server came around multiple times, always made sure our drinks were full, and generally made it a more pleasant experience. Maybe she read the first review and recognized us (we are a pretty memorable couple), I don't know. Anyway, at this point I would whole heartedly recommend Le Kabob as one of the best restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Great food, great service, what's not to like? read more

The food at this restaurant is delicious and we eat there often. The surroundings are clean and the atmosphere is pleasant. The way the restaurant could improve is in the area of service. On several occasions, our servers have forgotten items and have not been attentive. The last time, we had to approach the counter twice and ask for items that she had forgotten to order. Drink refills had to specifically be requested. Also, we were eating one hour prior to their published closing time. Workers were already mopping the floors and turning the chairs upside down on tables right beside us. This feels extremely unwelcoming. read more
