We stumbled on the Mandingue restaurant, we basically made a wrong turn but were glad me did. The restaurant is hidden and is open for take out. It is best to order ahead of time because you will wait a bit before you get your foid but you won't be disappointed. We ordered the jollof rice( the west african version of fried rice) Mafe aka peanut stew which is made with beef, some attieke a dish from the Ivory coast ( steamed cassava with either grilled fish but in this case the fish was fried.) The serving are large, this was definitely food for two days. If you like African food and live in the area where the eatery is give it a try. read more

Food isn't bad. The egusi soup and fufu is what I usually get. The jollof rice is not a favorite. The fried fish is well seasoned. I haven't been able to go to them at all this year because they haven't been open. I learned to make my own Egusi Soup. I may just get fufu when I don't want to make it. read more

Food is very good, very rich authentic taste. Staff is very nice and accommodating. Fish is good along with the cassava, peanut butter soup etc.. my go to is the cassava and the ginger juice. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

Great African restaurant. The food is well cook and very nice but they don't respect their own schedule they put out. I was surprised several times to go there with some friends for lunch and they were not open. Accountability is very essential in restaurant's business. Everything will be perfect if they respect their own open and closing time. Check it out yourself, Just call first to make sure they are open before you go. read more

As an African living in MD you know there's SEVERAL African spots to choose from all over the DMV. I patronized this restaurant for the first time at the begining of the 2019 and had a pretty decent experience with the food (ordered grilled lamb with jollof and attieke with fish) The wait time was pretty long but that was ok bc good food takes time. I wanted to order chicken 2 other times on seperate days but called before hand and was told both times, they were out of chicken?? Fast foward to the next time I was in the area, end of July,2019 I wanted to try chicken again so I called and was told they DID have chicken. Finally I thought lol. 2 hours later I arrive. Walked in, no one came to the front for about 5 mins. Next thing I know a young lady comes from behind the curtain with gloves on( I'm thinking, is she about to take my order with used gloves on?) Her attitude was like I was bothering her at her personal home. So I proceed to order and shes like we don't have any chicken. Huhhh? I proceed to tell her how I just called and shes like " oh well we don't have it now, that's what happens we sell out of stuff if u don't come in time" I was so caught off guard by her "are you done energy". I told her I wasn't interested in ordering at that point and she rushingly dismissed me from the restaurant. Took everything not to slap her bc she was doing wayyy too much. First things first. This is the only African restaurant in the DMV that boasts the Best Acheke hands down! Don't believe me? Ask the folks who come all the way from Philly for it. Have your tried the Jollof rice and fish with plantains? Now this is a number one recommendation for non-Africans venturing into the African food space... Do yourself a favor and just try it ... one time! . If you are the adventurous type or just want to experience African cuisine, then try the Cassava and potato leaves dish... I would rant and rave or tell you about the health benefits of these African dishes but I'd let you be the judge of that. Now, beware of naysayers crying the place down and do your own diligence... But also, appreciate the fact it is a family business in the true sense of the term where you must understand you are neither walking into, nor is the place advertised as a fine dining restaurant... Period. ‍ My advice ? Focus on the quality of the food and it's value... and wait on the soon-to-be opened fine dining experience of this establishment... coz within the next two years, don't be surprised to find Le Madingue among the likes of VOLT and refurbished into an African cuisine masterpiece ... After-all, they possess the first mover advantage.. and by then, you would have fallen in love with the ONLY Authentic African Food restaurant in Frederick... I love west African food but I don't like everyone's. I was a little skeptical about this place because it didn't have a lot of reviews. When you walk in it's a very small place and not much to it, but the food was delicious!! I was pleasantly surprised. I had the okra stew and my dad had the lamb. We both really enjoyed our meals and definitely would go again. I only have it 4 stars because the ambiance is a little lacking but it's a hole in the wall type place so it's cool. read more

Food was great. My husband and I order fufu and their version of spinach. It was great. We also ordered puff-puff (aka beigne) however it was not fried thoroughly - the inside was still very doughy. We were very disappointed-because we were looking forward to it. We ordered severa ginger beer and hibiscus drinks. They give u a teaspoon of pepper to go with ur food even though u pay $16 for ur meal. The tiny container for the pepper is not even full halfway. When I asked for a second teaspoon they want to charge me an extra 50 cents. Their serving is getting smaller and smaller everyday. What a shame. Poor customer service!! read more

Outstanding food. I used uber eats and the food got to me nicely packaged and still warm. The sauteed potatoes greens and rice, delicious. I am from Nigeria and to taste food from a different part of the continent that I've never had before. WoW. I also ordered their version of Jolloff rice with Dibi. I am so glad I will be able to frequent this restaurant regularly. When my brothers come to town I know where I am taking them.
