Service was friendly, quick, and welcoming; ambiance was warm but a little darker for some tables than others. We came here to try their restaurant week menu and ordered the escargot, salmon risotto, cassoulet, crème brûlée and chocolate cup de creme. We also ordered the deviled eggs from their regular menu. Escargot: 2/5, like other diners have noted, the flavor is on the blander side, which could be improved to your own liking with some salt. My wife's plate came with lots of sauce whereas mine barely had any, so there's also inconsistency in terms of its preparation which is unfortunate. Deviled eggs: 1/5, overly mustardy which overpowered the entire dish, where there's no other flavor present; no sweetness, no savoriness, just the burn from the mustard. Salmon Risotto: 2/5, the salmon at first arrived pretty raw in the inside, which is evident in the picture. They fixed it for us kindly, which we appreciated it. However, the risotto were also quite tough and not soft like it normally would be. Flavor was also on the blander side and we had to adjust it to our liking by just constantly adding salt. Cassoulet: 3.75/5, not your typical cassoulet which is often served with breadcrumbs, and came with some beans, 3-4 pieces of sausage, and a duck leg with some pancetta bits. The duck leg was perfectly cooked, juicy, and tender. The rest of the dish felt small, like half the bowl it came in was empty when they could've added more beans just to make it more hearty. Definitely had better but it's not bad. The creme brûlée and chocolate cup were both 5/5 for us, for they were both perfectly crafted, big in portion, aesthetically pleasing, and just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess! I would definitely get them both and I promise you won't regret it; whoever made the desserts did everything right! Overall it was a decent experience for us; though we have high hopes Le Paddock can definitely improve and reach the 5 stars I know they have the potential of achieving! I came here for dinner with my friends and had a reservation. The restaurant was mostly emptied when we arrived but they sat us in the middle where the fan was really strong and blowing our hair in our faces. Not a great start. We asked if we could move to the booths further away but they said it was reserved. We asked if they could lower the ceiling fans a bit and they said they would but I'm not sure they actually did it. Hair ties it is ladies! We ordered a good amount of food for a table of 6 to share. While the meal was ok, we were not blown away. The escargot was rather bland, kale ceasar was ok but didn't taste like a ceasar, the fried calamari was ok, the shrimp pastis was good, I didn't like the Pate de Campagne, La Windsor pizza was really salty from the blue cheese, the mussels was good, the beef bourguignon was ok and my friend ended up adding the skirt steak because she wanted more meat and they forgot to make our risotto. The steak was cooked medium rare as she wanted and was good. They did allow us to cancel the risotto since we were done eating and they didn't make it yet. Our server was really nice though and let us try different wines because we were not sure which bottle we wanted to get for the table. It's a small place inside so can get crowded. I highly recommend making reservations if you want to dine here. FYI: They only take CASH or AMEX.

Le Paddock is a great gem in Windsor Terrace. The family did brunch one late Sunday morning and overall it was a solid experience at this equestrian themed restaurant. I would 100% recommend you check it out if you're in the neighborhood. Pros: + Delicious burger + Chill outdoor, intimate neighborhood vibes + Friendly service + Exceptional fries. Perfectly crispy + Close to Prospect Park + Great for friends, family brunch Possible Cons: - Amex or Cash only - Burger cooking was a tiny bit off - Rare burger came out too rare and medium was a bit too well done.

Wow, last night just seemed to be a perfect evening. Wanted to try a place that was close to my friend's house and ended up finding a gem. We both had worked later than usual, and we both arrived about 8pm. There were a couple of tables available and we took the table on the far end of the restaurant. My friend had a huge and expensive bag and did not want it on the floor nor on the radiator next to us. The 1st person could not find 5 when the owner came over. He grabbed one from the closet without a fuss. He even made a few jokes about it, and I was laughing my head off!! That's how you start a great evening. This place is so cozy and romantic, and the staff is super attentive. It was the right amount of attention we both needed after our long day. Barry was our waiter and had such a good demeanor. He shared the specials of the night, including oysters, for a lower price!!! There was no way I could resist oysters! The other special was Cod and shrimp with a hint of curry on a bed of mashed potatoes. Let me tell you how good this dish was!! Although we shared that main, there was nothing left, and my friend eats very little food. We also indulged in a fried calamari appetizer prior to the Cod dinner. Totally forgot about our drinks!! My friend had the muscadet, crisp and dry, while I had Cardero Maduro brown ale on tap, which was quite nice. The reason why I went 5 in rating was all the above.; good, service and the ambiance! It is certainly a place to revisit. Btw, the bread is so fresh!!!

This place has quickly become one of my favorites. It's got this really cozy vibe that makes it perfect for a relaxed meal. The staff always makes me feel welcome. The food is always solid and looks just as good as it tastes. I've been back a few times now, and it's one of those spots that just never disappoints. It's the kind of place where you can count on good food and a great atmosphere, so I'll definitely keep coming back.

Dinner food and service is great: lunch is another story. The service was indifferent (I had to get my own salt and pepper inside) and the food was awful. The calamari was coated with oil (probably because the fryer oil was too cool or old) and the "kale Ceaser" didn't even have Ceaser dressing on it. The server was apologetic. Clearly the management doesn't care about serving a decent lunch. It appears the owners don't monitor these reviews, so I don't expect anything will change.

This is a lovely stop in Brooklyn--a French café with a horse theme and heated outdoor seating area. We went for weekend brunch. The food was fantastic but I had to remove a star for service. Our party of four was seated immediately indoors and within a few minutes, we ordered our drinks and food. I had a fresh, lovely mimosa that wasn't too sweet, and my husband had a Bloody Mary that was spicy and delicious. Usually, I don't like them but this one was enjoyable. My kids ordered fresh mint lemonade that would be wonderful on a summer day. We had to wait about 20 minutes for our drinks. 45 more minutes passed and I asked our waitress when we could get the deviled eggs we ordered for an appetizer. She said she forgot to put them in and that our meals were almost ready, so we never got them. This was disappointing. After almost an hour overall, we finally got our food. I had an omelet with a little too much cheese, but the roasted potatoes it came with were delicious. My husband had Merguez, which was a lamb sausage and lentil dish topped with egg. He enjoyed it but it was a small portion for the price. My daughter ordered quiche but it was bland and mushy, with a soft wet crust. She loved the fries, and my son enjoyed his burger. We noticed that other tables got their food faster, and other tables were served bread. We were not. If we are in Brooklyn again, we will give it another chance since most of the food was good, but I'd rate it a 3.5 due to the service and a couple of issues. They make it very clear that they only accept Cash or AmEx.

Loved the vegetarian couscous dish. Perfect for an unexpectedly cool, rainy evening in Brooklyn ~ I'd enjoy it in nicer weather too. The base tastes great. Crème brûlée was Très magnifique :) Staff were helpful and spirited. Appreciated the outdoor seating. I'll be back!

Tuesday night had a great special. Mussel's, glass of wine and fries for $15- you can't beat that! The service was fast, decor is mellow and this place is a little dark and sweet. Great food, reasonable prices and great service. I will be back. A great little neighborhood gem! read more

Just enjoyed a great evening at Le Paddock. While it was cold and rainy outside, it was warm and cozy inside. The entire experience was relaxed, unhurried, and friendly. The food was great: simple, well-made, unpretentious. The menu is not overly wide but has a lot of variety, and reasonably priced, even for the budget conscious. We will be back. read more

Was initially very hopeful, even enthusiastic about this French influenced but casual restaurant off the beaten path in Windsor Terrace. Dishes were very savory, both small plates and mains, drinks just right, and the service was friendly, if not always the most efficient. But after four times visiting the restaurant, we're done. Why? Kids. Somehow, the adult restaurant buzz-killers from Park Slope found out about Le Paddock and swarmed in with their screaming, tantrum-throwing toddlers making it so that I couldn't even hear my wife speaking right across the small table from me. Not sure what can be done. Raise the prices? Don't serve dinner until 7 PM? Make the menu more French? Too bad. The fire roasted shrimp are indeed delicious, but we won't be back. read more

Le Paddock is just what every neighborhood needs -- a solid, dependable, reliable stand-by restaurant that does yeoman's work serving basic brunches and dinners. We've been coming here regularly since it opened. We've always loved the food. While, at first, the service had some glitches to work out, we've found the service to have become considerably smoother. All in all, the place reminds me a lot of the no-nonsense, non-famous, workmanlike mom & pop bistros that you find in Paris -- comfortable restaurants that you're just glad to have in the neighborhood as your regular. Thus far, I've mostly had pizzas, which I cannot resist because they are so good. But I have also really enjoyed the charcuterie plate and the coq au vin. I'm not a particular fan of risotto, but I took a walk on the wild side recently and ordered a shrimp risotto, which was dynamite. I also recommend the pork loin on a bed of lentils, which pops up periodically on the specials menu from time to time. The lemon custard dessert is also outstanding. Le Paddock has also pitched the restaurant perfectly for the neighborhood. It needed both a restaurant appropriate for adults and one where you can take the kids. Because of the pizzas, they manage to pull off both, which is quite a trick. It's kid-friendly without going over entirely into kiddy land. You can have really good quality French food while feeding (really great) pizza to the rugrats. Another thing to note is that Le Paddock also has a bar. On the forgotten end of Windsor Terrace, there is now a place you can actually sit down and have a beer or a glass of wine on the way home from work. Such a needed amenity, especially since the untimely demise of the wonderful Nanny Goat Hill. read more

I can never seem to go to this place with a group of people and have everyone leave satisfied, but every time I go here alone, I have a grand ol' time...what gives? I personally dig on wood fired ovens and French bistro fare, so i suppose that explains my end. I enjoy the burger (both lamb AND beef versions) and find many of the appetizers delish as well. I've often popped in for just a glass of bubbly and the chocolate mousse because I like the vibe. Always great service. read more

Hi again. I'm on a roll with new finds. First of all, who knew something like this was hiding in a nook sandwiched between the Prospect Expressway, and a bunch of overpasses with one way in and one way out!! I love easy-going French bistro style food and these guys are in the perfect niche for me. Classic dishes at affordable prices, nice people -- Gregory, Aldo -- extremely accommodating and what a surprisingly friendly wine list. Good job guys. Can't wait to go back. read more

I live close to this resto and decided to pop in for dinner with my sister. The atmosphere is very cozy and the food is pretty delicious. Prices are not outrageous but definitely on the high end for this area. The staff accepted my preference for goat cheese over blue cheese on the fig and prosciutto pizza (La Windsor), which I appreciated. The potato gratin that came with the steak my sister ordered was amazing. The place definitely had a neighborhood vibe going on at the bar, people chatting and hanging out. I will definitely go back to check out their specials. read more

FOOD POISONING! (and no return calls from the manger or owners) I have been here a few times and enjoyed it. Pizza and kale was all I ever had. The last time I went I ventured and had the roast chicken and banana tart tatin for dessert. The food was delicious (though the tart was a little dry)...but I got violently ill within a few hours of eating it. I called the next day to tell them. The manager was apologetic but offered no compensation. (They only take cash. Had I paid with a card, I could have at least disputed the charge). The manager said he would have one of the owners get in touch within a day or two as they were out of town. Never heard from them again. $$ vomited down the toilet. read more

An amazing place with an amazing staff to go with it. I have been there multiple times and every time me and everyone I was with were satisfied. I highly recommend the lamb burger or one of the pizzas. All there drinks are one of a kind and taste great. Unpretentious, delicious, delightful spot. Got the $10.95 weekday lunch special--what a deal. First up, the app: fried cauliflower, made with some hot pepper with a squeeze of lemon to balance it out beautifully. The main: ample portion of plump mussels, crispy frites tasty enough to eat on their own, and extra crusty bread on request to sop up the white wine broth. A walk home through charming Windsor Terrace completed the perfect afternoon. read more

I love this place, it's super cute, the staff is SO nice, the food is delicious and is priced well. I like the brunch, for $15 they have a handful of great plates (all with appropriate grown up portions) a coffee or juice and a cocktail. Their bloody marys are nice and smooth and spicy with the perfect balance. I like the Norwegian Special, but their quiches are great too. I'm dying to come back and try the pizza. read more

Awesome restaurant! We went the other night for dinner for the first time. I had the lamb burger. My husband had pizza and my son had pizza. Their pizzas looked delicious. My burger was excellent. It had yummy onions on top. Despite being full, the restaurant was never too loud. The service was great -- really nice staff. The best part was the cocktail my husband ordered. It was sweet and spicy at the same time. I hope we can go back again soon! read more

Delicious French brunch and one of the best bloody mary's I've had in the city. It had a raw oyster on top! Epic! They serve breakfast pizza's and mine was incredible with gruyere, leeks and ham. Yum yum yum! I met some friends there and they were already seated with drinks when I arrived, which I liked. You know how some places are not that chill and say, "oh we can't seat you until your party has arrived..." not this place. :) Also there is an entire horse theme going on with all of the decorations. I was happy my plaid shirt fit right into the vibe. I hear they make a killer French onion soup and there's a raw $1 oyster happy hour on Thursdays...ALL NIGHT. Other nights of the week have fun specials as well. Great local place! read more

Love, love, love! Everything was delish! Yummy cocktails! Order the peach mojito! Mmmmm. Everything we ordered was delicious... Organic free range chicken, shirt steak, mussels in a cilantro sauce (and I don't love cilantro) but I loved these mussels, and a leek, bacon and...pizza. I'm in heaven! Came here a few times since it is so close to home. They have a dollar oysters special all night on Thursdays, which is great because most places only have it til 7. They have very good customer service, checking in from time to time to make sure everything is good. We ordered the escargot which is ok, a little bland for our taste. We also orders tapas and french fries with truffle oil. Both was very good. They only take cash. read more

Great food, service & ambience. Felt like rustic restaurants we've been to in France! You can even get a half carafe of wine like in France, & the manager (owner?) provided bien accueil. We hated the escargot in basil, & I got the duck salad--delicious! read more

This place is excellent for pizza and for a neighborhood lacking a restaurant presence this gem shines. It's cash only, but they have an ATM if you're comfortable using a nonbank one. This place is small so spare yourself coming during the dinner rush if you're starving or if you're trying to seat large groups. read more

Great atmosphere, very neighborly feel. Owner will often introduce you to the restaurant, a bit of its history, and explain in detail the specials and items on menu. One of my neighborhood favorites. Desserts are to die for and they often have a great pizza+beer deals on the weekdays. Burgers are pretty good and they have a great bartender named Gregory who is very creative with his concoctions. Service is warm and welcoming. I enjoy the lighting and it's never too crowded. Great place to check out. read more

Great food, and now that the weather is appropriate I recommend sitting outside the breeze flows perfectly along the street. I always have to have their truffle fries and the chocolate pot de creme. The service is excellent and the owner is friendly. read more

So I accidentally knocked into the host/waiter when my friend and I just came in. Despite my apology, he still seemed very hurt and seated us feet away from the bathroom. While he was prompt and thorough, he was obviously going through the motions and was not at all friendly. The daily quiche and salad that I had were delicious. My friend enjoyed her crab cakes. We would like to go back, and hopefully interact with a different waiter. read more

A group of six of us had dinner here and had a great time. Our omnivorous, not-picky table had calamari, tr-colored salad, burgers, mussels, charcuterie, pizza, pasta, escargot. Excellent coffee after. Our waiter was friendly and we all appreciated the tasteful, warm decor. If you don't live in Windsor Terrace, you can make a nice afternoon or evening of walking around the park and enjoying a good meal, or vice-versa, and feel far away from the frazzle of Manhattan. read more

I had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich, with grilled chicken, which didn't feel heavy at all and was absolutely delicious. The pork belly sandwich that my friend had was good, and he said that it had a spice to it that made it unique. We got a few rounds of the pigtail, and it was light refreshing and very summery. The wait staff was very friendly, and attentive.. and we sat out in the back and it was great. Would recommend if in the area!

Few have been able to replicate the experience, but Honeycomb Hi Fi Lounge comes close. That the space is narrow with just a few seats along the bar and a few tables mimics the Japanese experience best, where you can almost have it so the whole room is having one conversation together. The cocktail menu is rather simple, and my Stormbringer drink, with dark rum and ginger beer was not anything to write home about, but $15 is pretty low for cocktails these days so I'll take it. My friend and I each order a cocktail, and are catching up. I'm from Brooklyn, however I no longer live here, and this was precious catch-up time with my friend. Then I get interrupted mid-sentence by the old-timer DJ from his low seat in a corner behind the bar. I had bumped the bar with my wrist (bumped my wrist watch as well, not deliberately) and then placed my hand down (granted- more than placed but definitely not slammed), and he decided to warn me that I COULD HAVE made his record skip. It was the Eagles or Santana (far from eclectic, but that's just me). I'm also 99% certain he turned the volume up afterwards, making it even harder to enjoy the company. After that interaction, I struggled to pick it back up with my friend, because I found that distraction very effing rude. When this "4th wall" gets broken down with service, it is hard to then enjoy the space in an uninhibited state. I am all for the Tokyo Vinyl Bar vibe, and I'm also for also giving talent an outlet to share their collection, but this interaction colored my experience, and I closed out after one drink and went elsewhere. I mentioned this to the bartender, and he was kind to offer a buy-back of a rare whiskey, which I did accept. 5 stars for the bartender, but 1 for my experience. I don't like to be harsh or unnecessarily cruel, but this is what it is. I have visited in the past and enjoyed myself. Nonetheless, I certainly won't be coming back.

I am so happy to finally have a go to place in this neighborhood to meet up with friends, to go with my parents when they visit or to go on my own and just sit at the bar have a drink and eat. before this i had to travel to Coretlyou or into Park Slope and other areas. the food is really good, Everything I have tried I enjoyed. the mussels are excellent, I really like the goat cheese salad. as others have mentioned the bread they bake in the brick oven is awesome! the staff is nice enough and remembered me the second time I went even though they seem to be pretty busy. I have stopped there on my way home for a pizza to go, crispy and i loved the fresh basil they put on the regular pie. the prices are reasonable. the desserts are delicious and big enough to share with another person. I have not tried the brunch yet but will soon and will update my review after. tried the brunch today, sat at the bar. I tried a bloody mary made with sake, LOVED it! My eggs were delicious as was the coffee. I decided to have a chocolate cake along with my coffee and it was also really good and was served with strawberries and cream - yum! the service was on the slow side but they were really busy and I was not in much of a hurry today. SPOILER ALERT )))) I obsessive re broiled salmon, MY way! I LOVED amazing pizza of awesome diversity, AND broiled salmon as main DISH. SADLY, that salmon dish has DISAPPEARED - camouflaged by weird flavors on top, which I could not eat! ---- So disappointing to turn a great staple into a loser! TRYING NEW THINGs is nice, perhaps dining alone, but management should always maintain the basic, sans souci, nothing but the basics, (butter, lemon, herbs). - NOTHING of color! I will SOON give Paddock another try! I am fortunate that I can get great broiled salmon at Joe Brancaccio's, 3 minutes away. But it is/was special when Paddock provided that same quality FRESHLY broiled, for a few dollars more, mashed potatoes, steamed veggies with normal butter/lemon sauces. THEN, of course, one can have wine!!! I think desserts are normal French stuff, cheeses, ie excellent! OUTDOOR SEATING! The pricing is great, given the always great quality! We were looking for an apartment in Windsor Terrace and kind of stumbled across Le Paddock. We found this restaurant to be charming. It really has the look of an old farmhouse. As for the food, everything we had was delicious. We started with the roasted garlic and flatbread. It was probably the best I have ever eaten. For entrées we had beef burgers. They were cooked just the way we asked (you can tell they use quality beef) and the french fries were crisp and delicious. For dessert we shared the chocolate mousse with salted caramel. It was devine. They have a nice selection of wine. We had a couple of glasses of Pinot Noir and the price was very reasonable at $6. We will definitely return even if we don't move into the neighborhood. read more

My family came for dinner on a Sunday evening and we had such a lovely experience! Service was timely, knowledgeable and friendly - but I was most impressed that even my 5-year old son and dog were attended to. The menu is creative and offers options for all appetites and budgets, from a $10 margherita pizza to $20 paella. I'm most excited about the picnic plates that offer a variety of meats, fish, cheeses and vegetables for reasonable prices. Great wine list, great beers and an extensive list of apertifs. Had a really nice dinner there. Wife had the salmon, which she loved, especially the creamy lentils side. I had a fish special, which was delicious. Kids had a pizza of course and my older son had the burger (dad tasted, really good and the fries actually were great). We each had two glasses of wine, which were good. The whole place just had a nice vibe. Very pleasant server and had a nice little chat with the host (manager?) while we waited for a table. Nice owners, needed restaurant in the area. Bad chef, kitchen needs to be taken back over by the owners. i was served raw eggs, they were not even cooked for one second. I was given a hard time when i returned them and then was delivered a cooked plate in 5 seconds that looked like it was from yesterday. Proper french cuisine with a Brooklyn twist. Went with a vegetarian date and she loved the couscous. I took the duck breast and we split the dessert.
