She said because it hasn't been busy and the price of everything has gone up. We come to this bakery every other week depending on our schedule. There is usually a line but nothing crazy. Prices are reasonable and I love that it's a local business. There are so many pretzel varieties from stick to bun to a pretzel croissants. I will miss this place, it's been open for at least 10 years.

Unbeknownst to me It came sweet and asked to see if it could be remade. The tea barista said that I didn't ask for it to be unsweetened. I Mention I wasn't aware iced green tea was sweetened (otherwise i would have). She remade it but, was visibly annoyed, and kept telling me the next time to order to ask for no sweetener and all their drinks were sweetened. I already mentioned twice that I wasn't aware that it was sweetened. Interaction was a little uncomfortable as I felt tea barista kept implying fault on me based on an assumption that I should have known. On a hospitality note... a simple "yes all drink including plain ice teas do come sweetened, sorry you weren't made aware, happy to remake it" would have made a better experience. Think again. I got through the line quickly. Placed my order and watched everyone around me receive their food, dine and leave within 30 minutes all while I was still standing at the front waiting for 1 gluten free crepe with fruit. There was a sign up front that asked guests to be prepared to wait longer times so I really tried to be patient. I waited. After 40 minutes still standing up front I still had no crepe. I asked the cashier if she remembered me and she said my order would be ready momentarily. I took a closer look at the order and noticed that the gluten free crepe was buckwheat batter of which when I ordered they didn't make mention of this. Due to my allergies and sensitivity I had to wait again to speak with someone else who appeared to be managing, perhaps the owner. He claimed they make their own batter and brought out the bag of buckwheat flour. Then read on google the ingredients. I really thought a gluten free crepe was mainly made of alternative flour such as coconut flour--not here. I also pulled up this information however I did not want to take a risk. He told the cashier at the counter to issue me a refund and he turned back around to make more coffee orders. I overall felt like I had wasted my time here. I used to take my kids here and haven't been here since they remodeled and expanded. I was by myself and really just wanted something to eat but was not offered anything else. That part upset me the most. Then my refund took a week long. Really thought the refund should have been immediately. The cafe is really cute! They were out of curry buns in the case but the ones in the oven were ready in a couple minutes. Torture waiting for it to cool enough to eat and- oh my! Worth the wait. I didn't receive a response until the end of day on Tuesday. I also called her bakery multiple times and had no answer or response-- for 4 days! By that point, I already found another bakery to handle the cake, but had I waited, I would have been left in a very bad position. As a fellow business owner, I don't say this lightly ~ the level of communication here is pretty unacceptable. It takes legit, less than a minute to acknowledge an inquiry and set expectations. A simple "I'm totally booked out" or "I'll follow up" would have demonstrated basic professionalism and respect for a potential client's time and energy. When someone goes out of their way to find your business, fill out your form, and actively try to give you money ~ silence and negligence send a very clear message about how that effort is valued. You haven't earned a client here-- and maybe that doesn't matter to you, but word of mouth is the best form of advertisement, and that matters. My response to Christy's response: It takes less than a minute to fire off an email, or simply answer your phone. There's no such thing as "Easter Monday"-- it's just Monday. When someone reaches out with a clear deadline, a quick acknowledgment isn't optional-- it's expected. Even a one-line response would have been enough for me to plan accordingly.
