I'd definitely recommend buying an iced peppermint mocha coffee here too, they could give coffee chains runs for their money. Visited the new building for the first time and found it very noisy and impersonal. My breakfast, the Lumberjack, was just ok. The potatoes were stale tasting and hard. So rude at the reception desk! We ate there last week and waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to eat. Not a problem we had reading material. Came in today and told 1 hour 45 mins. Again we can wait but the staff rolled their eyes and made a big deal about our large party. We called Pikk's Tavern downtown who takes reservations and had a much more pleasant experience. I think with the new remodel, they have too many customers to handle. Serving staff come across as rushed and short. I ordered the "fresh squeezed orange juice" and paid extra for a large. I have had fresh squeezed orange juice and it has a specific taste: FRESH ORANGES! If you've ever had fresh orange juice, you know what I mean. What came to my table was no mistake, Minute Maid or Dole. I know it takes a long time to squeeze oranges, so if they were out of the fresh orange juice, just let me know instead of lying and making me pay $5 for something I could get a whole gallon of at Walmart. Was there today April 10 at 1125. We were seated right away at 11: 47 we had still not been waited on or even acknowledged we got up took our menus to the hostess said we are leaving apparently no one wants to wait on us. No apology from hostess just a deer in the headlights look. A long haired blonde lady walking around we assumed manager didn't seem to care either. We recently watched a comedy special with Aziz Ansari and part of his commentary talked about how after the pandemic, everything is just a little bit sh*ttier. :-) This stuck with us because it's funny but also because it's true! Companies are short staffed and much of the staff they do have is new. The problem is seemingly everywhere. Not so here at Le Peep's though! We were absolutely delighted- mostly on account of the service. The host stand opened up the patio just because we asked. The server (Crystal) was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The service was incredibly fast (had our food in about five minutes) and it was hot, perfectly prepared to order (multiple special requests) and delicious. Sitting alone on the patio on a nice July morning with this level of service reminded us of service one might get at a Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons. Definitely an elevated, premium experience. Maybe we were just lucky with the folks we interacted with but nonetheless, we would come back again and again if we lived closer by. read more

I was up in Indiana visiting my Mom and Dad, and they took me to their favorite brunch spot. They eat here several times a week-- thats how much they love it. I have been here a few times, generally around 10-11am, and it isnt too busy then. Parking looks like it could get hairy- depending on what time you go. They share a parking lot with the Social Security office. We are always greeting warmly and taken to a table right away. There is a seating area if you'd have to wait. This time we sat near the window, which was nice because I am always chilly inside buildings with AC. We reviewed the menu, and I ordered the veggie omlet with egg whites and toast, my Mom the Spinnaker omlet, and Dad ordered pancakes. I loved my omelet, but I forgot they cover the toast in butter(too much in my opinion) and they switched mine out for some with no butter with no problem. They have several healthy options other than toast--such as fruit or oatmeal. They put water on the table so you can refill yourselves as well as a coffee pot so we could access it whenever we needed more. Our server, Carla, was super friendly and took care of my family. The interior is beautiful with high rafters and big windows that let a lot of light in. My only structural complaint was the bathroom-- it was only one bathroom for each male and female. There was a line at each bathroom. For a restaurant that size, I'd hope for more. I'll definitely be back! read more

It was a busy Sunday but that wasnt the reason, it was because of dirty dishes, though the table had already been cleaned. Shortly after we were told to wait, we watched a busser clean the table we were sat at, but instead of taking the dirty plates from it, they stacked the dirty plates in a pile and left them on it AFTER THEY WIPED IT DOWN. About 10 minutes after that we watched our server pick them up and take them in the back so we could finally be seated. I have never seen a worse group of bussers in my life. I came here with two girlfriends on a Sunday morning around 10:30am. Not our best idea, not our worst. The first problem we encountered was parking. It was so bad, I had one of my friends go in and put in our name while i drove around in circles and waited for someone to leave to open up a spot for me. It probably took around 20 minutes to find parking. From the time my friend put in our name, it was quote to be a 20 minute wait, and I would say they hit that time frame right on the nose. I was glad as they guided us to a table in the back, away from the overcrowded waiting area. We got a booth, so that was another plus. Once we sat down, we poured ourselves some water, which was already on the table waiting for us. It wasn't long before one of my friends spotted unidentifiable floating objects in her water. She promptly had it replaced with an orange juice, but still. Gross. Our waitress was back and forth to bring us drinks, food, extra sides or napkins. But she honestly seemed inconvenienced that we were there. Her smiles felt fake and overall, the three of us agreed she was not friendly. Between the service and the parking, I might be wary of this place... but OH MY GOSH, THE FOOD. Everything that came out looked delicious. My friends had gotten omelettes, but I had gotten a crab cake benedict plate and it was everything I could've asked for on that particular morning. The crab cakes had been fried and were hot and crispy on the outside and the eggs were perfectly poached. The potatoes that came on the side were yummy! My plate also came with a side of cinnamon apples, which I think would have been greatly improved simply by heating them up. Most of these casual breakfast/brunch restaurants are pretty much the same--the land of fancy omelettes, quinoa, and Hollandaise sauce. Not much originality here, and this Le Peep is no exception. That being said, this really is about the best place to go in Valpo for a good breakfast. Whether you're hankering is for loaded omelettes, fat French Toast, or scrambled egg creations, everything here usually is delicious. I have occasionally been disappointed in the quality of some of the dishes; I've come across overcooked roasted potatoes and the occasional gimpy sausage, but on the whole everything is prepared quickly and fresh. Le Peep does a good job of having a regular selection of creative specials--over the holidays they had a ridiculous Gingerbread stuffed French Toast. This adds a little variety to a menu that can get a little old. The restaurant itself is quaint, casual, and comfortable. They maintain a nice local flavor in the decor and ambiance, which I think is nice. The staff is always very nice, and the service has always been spot on. Generally, I'm pretty hard on breakfast places. It's hard paying $15 for a meal I can make just as well in my own kitchen. But, Le Peep does well to provide an excellent breakfast option in the Valpo area. read more

I definitely should have read the reviews before I ordered any food. I'm gonna put this out there. I have had Le Peep before in other towns (specifically in Boulder, CO), and I've always LOVED it. This restaurant doesn't have a clue how to cook potatoes, and it's baffling to me. I ordered the Desperado skillet, and the first bite I took was a delicious hunk of completely uncooked potato. MMMM MMMM gooood. I thought maybe it was a fluke so I took a few more bites. Nope, potatoes weren't cooked properly at all and lacked any favor whatsoever. I considered sending it back but then I took a little looksies at my mother and grandmother's plates, and I quickly came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it. Now some reviewers say that menu items not containing potatoes are actually good. I can neither confirm nor deny that statement. I will admit that my basted eggs were pretty good. But then I have to ask myself...what breakfast restaurant does not know how to make proper potatoes??? I don't want breakfast without some form of potato sitting somewhere on the plate. Anyway, the service was great, and the place is super clean, but my meal was a disappointment. Breakfast is quite possibly my favorite meal of the day, and this one was a major letdown. I am very picky about how my poached eggs are being done, and usually i'm not 100% satisfied. However, this location blew me away with EVERYTHING!!! Great food and coffee! My husband and I love coming here for weekend dates. One of us typically orders the Monte Cristo as is it our favorite! If it's a splurge day we get the County Fair French Toast or a French toast on special. Last time we went we both for the special flavored coffee and it was perfect; although I usually order espresso and my husband orders the cappuccinos. I wish that they had a dairy free option for cappuccinos as they are delicious! But on the plus side they just added goat cheese to the menu. All the servers are nice, but when we go we always ask for our favorite so if you have a bad experience with a server go back and make sure to get a different server. :) read more
