Chicken quesadilla (they were out of pork)
    Madeline E.

Brunch was okay. Price for the food is a bit high and not the best quality. Our server was very nice!

Salmon Benedict. Regular 'ol salmon, not smoked.

The two stars are for our lovely server. She has her work cut out for her. Imagine being on the front line serving mediocre overpriced food. Poor gal! We waited almost an hour for our meals - not her fault. She comped us drinks and apologized profusely, bless her! Party of six: tostada was flavorless, salmon Benedict was just regular salmon - not smoked (should have been a different price point!), two ladies left their salads untouched. Only items that appeared promising were the chicken bacon sandwich and the waffle. Try it once at your own risk. Maybe they are working out the kinks? Restaurant is brand new to town. But the chain is well-established so I'm not sure what went wrong.

I really had high hopes for this place, realizing that amongst all the choices in West Lafayette or…read moreLafayette, this was definitely a cuter smaller probably ma and pa owned place rather than the other big conglomerate of chains. I don't like giving out low or poor reviews. However, this visit was really unfortunate. Upon walking in there was no one who greeted you and when she did emerge from the kitchen, there was nothing along the lines of high welcome or good morning rather it was how many. Our waiter only came to our table once for a refill on coffee however never asked us how our meal was after it had arrived. He also did not give us the check on his little mobile machine, although we did see him give checks to other tables right next to us on his little mobile machine, if that is what I saw. they made us walk all the way back to the front in order to check out and pay. Our waiter did take the right order, which was my omelette with no cheese however, as you can see from the pictures, there was definitely cheese in this omelette. That was also disappointing. My partner ordered toast which came with his meal, and the bread was not toasted at all in fact, it looked like it was just simply taken out of the bag. The eggs also were not fresh eggs. He definitely came out of a carton. The country fried steak he ordered was definitely not steak as well. The only thing that really went well were my hashbrowns because they were toasted on the top part. The coffee here unfortunately tasted like brown hot water. the place photographs well, with all the hanging florals this unfortunately really missed the ball and missed the point. It was a huge waste of money and they really need to work on service and food here. If you have other choices for breakfast, please go somewhere else because this is very disappointing. Our waiter was not attentive. When we saw someone cleaning a table that it really wasn't being cleaned it was simply being cleared out. No cleaning tools or cleaning fluids were used at all in the process of cleaning. I didn't think anyone could really ruin breakfast orders, but they definitely managed to do it.

We all got coffee, which was lukewarm when they serve it. Second cup was warmer, but never hot. When my food came out the fries were cold, but at least they were crispy and seasoned well. My burger had what seemed like 8 tablespoons worth of mayonnaise on it and I had to take more than half of it off. At first I thought it was cheese which I was so excited for but sadden to learn it was mayonnaise. Ask for it on the side of you don't want a lot. My burger was cooked medium well but it was fine, expected more well done. Flavor was good though. Plenty of parking. Lots of options on the menu. Nice cozy place to check out.

They put a generous layer of spiced seeds on top of the avocado, so there are lots of crunchy bits in every bite. I got the avocado toast with an over-medium egg on top, so my breakfast was a textural delight. I visited 8Eleven for a little brekkie, so I only know the morning menu. They have a pared down breakfast here, with a dozen or so options: a couple of omelets, a couple of toasts, eggs in different permutations. A parfait and an acai bowl and some steel-cut oats are also on the menu. They also offer fresh juice. The black coffee is great. The service is great. If you visit for breakfast around 7:30 or 8 a.m. like I did, there aren't too many people, so you'll probably get your food quickly. The restaurant itself is classy but not stodgy.

I have always loved this place, I visit often, mainly for breakfast, I have always found the…read moreservers very friendly and nice! , however this time I had a weird experience. First off, I have always picked where I want to sit, the part about "server is busy, and that table is served by a specific server" is nonsensical, they should really change or add a server to the seating area that customers prefer (near window, more lighting etc) rather than having the customer sit somewhere else for their servers convenience. Secondly, I picked up the glass for water and it smelled like an egg, I called out the server (who already seemed annoyed to change of seats) and told her about the glass and the response I got was "we wash our glasses in vinegar so it must be that", well first off, I know the difference between vinegar and egg smell, secondly, it was disgusting and I cannot drink water in it, instead of arguing, she really should have just changed the glass, it's not that hard.

The Eleventh House seemed like the perfect stop for elevenses, because they are a coffee shop that also sells sandwiches (bagel sandwiches). The food menu consists of basically just bagels and bagel sandwiches, but that's fine, because The Eleventh House makes a great bagel sandwich. They also offer random little nibbly things, like hard-boiled eggs with dijon mustard, kimchi, citrus slices and "half of an avocado with a crazy amount of Old Bay," which I'm going to have to try to make at home sometime. Some of their sandwiches have exciting things in them, like pickled daikon, burnt pimento cheese (why does that sound so appealing?) and onion jam. I opted to keep my lunch rooted in the quotidian, so I got a Ranch BLT (bacon, iceberg lettuce, tomato, avocado, ranch seasoning, Kewpie mayonnaise) and the Turkey & Havarti, which is mostly just that. Maybe my choices were a little basic, but sometimes the classics are where it's at. These sandwiches were very tasty! The coffee shop / restaurant feels very open, with natural light coming through a skylight window and plants everywhere. It's a nice place to sit and chill for a while. When you dine in, they give you a number on a tarot card to place at your table. My tarot card was the Three of Wands, which I've learned represents the threshold of adventure, a call to leave your comfort zone to seek enlightenment in the world. (And, perhaps, an invitation to live deliciously?) How appropriate.
