Service was amazing and very thoughtful. This was a fun experience where you get to see a short show and be served the dish. It's a unique food interaction that's appealing to all ages. They accommodate food allergies and preferences if you inform them ahead of time. They accommodated a no dairy restriction for our dinner. The food was tasty but it didn't blow me away. I was hoping for more taste but the projection is truly the star, not the food itself. I found the hummus avocado appetizer the best dish for the entire evening. I even liked it more than the Maine lobster. It's a bit odd dining next to strangers but luckily in Hawai'i everyone is friendly. Yes, you're seated next to strangers due to the seating arrangement. If you are in a group of four, you might be lucky and get your own table. My husband left dinner starving and ordered a whole pizza for himself at a different restaurant afterwards. I was just barely full after the Le Petit Chef dinner. Maybe we're heavy eaters but it would have been nice to have one more dish for this price point. Again, the show is the highlight. The seafood stew was just okay. The steak was also alright. But this could be due to no butter due to the dairy accommodation.

Kids soup is different from what la petite chef was making .

Took my 8 years old daughter and her two friends. Kids menu doesn't match with the presentation, 3 of the 5 courses were different, the girls point it out right away and they were bummed specially when tiny chef was making lobster and they got gnocchi instead. The show was cute, the kids love the concept, but the menu detail was bad specially when cost $90 per child. Waitress was very nice, couple of mistakes during service but is ok, accidents happens. Cute, very pricey, Gen Z and millennials will enjoy better than older guests or kids. Head up dinner takes 2 hrs+ you must arrived 30 minutes early so 2 1/2 hrs may be too long for kids.

Area was a bit small and tight. Price was high. Food was good but could have been better. Enjoyed the Show it was cute and different. Had issues with having an odd number of people! Finally was able to make reservations. I don't see how having an odd number of people affected the show, as I was first told. Overall it was interesting but once is good.

Five courses in roughly 2 hours. The servers were absolutely wonderful. They were quick and they were so kind. My husband and I went out for date night. The room in which the dinner took place was quite small, but it did not feel overcrowded. They had a limit an amount of tickets which made the experience very nice. The first course was the whipped ricotta and tomatoes, and that was amazing. The second dish being the seafood in the tomato broth was nobody's favorite, it was flavorless but also I couldn't get past the broth feeling like oil in my mouth. The third dish served was a lobster tail, which I did not take a picture of because unfortunately, I do not like lobster but my husband thought it was amazing. The steak was the star of the show, the grilled vegetables on the side were delicious and lastly, the dessert was perfect. All of this was enjoyed with a bottle of wine shared between me and my husband (not included in the dinner price). We were presently surprised that although each course looked quite small altogether, it was a filling meal. The projection show was super cute and I loved all the trouble the petite chef got himself into. I don't know that I would go to an experience like this again, but it was an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so happy I did it.

I love a good mystery, so I immediately reserved a spot to attend The Dinner Detective's first…read moreproduction in Honolulu last weekend. It turned out to be one of the best live entertainment shows I've been to in years. It was hilarious, engaging, and most importantly, there was murder, and lots of it. If you purchase a Groupon, you will need to choose which show date you'd like to attend and pay an additional admission fee of $12.48 to cover tax and waitstaff gratuity. You will also be asked to choose your entrée for the 4-course dinner included in your purchase price. The choices are sous vide chicken breast, fresh island fish, and penne pasta. The show is held at the Alana Waikiki Business Center of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Alana - Waikiki Beach. The free WIFI sign-in and password will be made available to you when you check-in. At check-in, you will be given a ticket according to your entrée choice as well as a name tag to write down an alias. My alias for the evening was Agatha Poirot. There is a cash bar available as well as free iced tea and coffee. An ATM and restrooms are conveniently located outside of the room where the performance is held. The actors and hosts are very entertaining and did a great job in making the evening a lot of fun. I won't give the story away, but I will say that this particular storyline will have multiple murders, and the actors make it tough to figure out who the real killer is. I thought the two detectives were the best performers of the evening and were laugh out loud funny. They need to be given their own show, perhaps a parody of Hawaii Five-0! The top sleuth who not only figures out the murderer, but writes down the best explanation as to why the murderer killed his or her victims, will win a murder mystery entertainment prize package. I was told that the mysteries will change, so there will be opportunities for audiences to attend future shows with new mysteries to solve. The Dinner Detective is one of the best entertainment options in Waikiki and a fun way to spend an evening for tourists and locals.

The staff and actors were great The hostesses were quite attentive and friendly and kept popping to different tables to check up on everyone. The hotel banquet staff was not quite up to par, maybe because they felt that they should be more "in the background" with everything going on. The mystery was well done, some twists and turns and not as easy as you think it might be to solve the case. It was easy to figure out who was acting in the audience vs. who the audience participants were so you could narrow down the suspects quite quickly. Since both my husband and a friend was "suspect", it even made my choices slimmer. For those who like to mingle, it's a fun way of interacting and meeting people but if you are on the introverted side, this may not be for you. Quite a few customers were in the "acting community". The food was so-so for me although my group enjoyed it. Both the chicken and fish were prepared well and was covered with a sauce that was tasty. Salad and dessert were good. Beverage choices were limited but expected with limited bar service, soft drinks and coffee. This is a fun outing for a group. If you really get into solving the mystery and talk to everyone in the room, you probably would be able to get more into the case. Expect some characters..... and I don't mean Mickey. Some people can really get into this sort of thing!

It was very easy to find in the international marketplace and being in the mall was not a distraction like one may be hesitant to think. The setup was perfect in which you can hear and watch the entertainers with no distractions and they kept us very engaged. I came to the luau with friends and family and experienced the luau in the first row, middle table. This was a prime spot to experience the performances and worth it. Entertainment: In the beginning, they held interactive stations that allowed the guests to learn and participate in different cultural activities, like dancing. Everything was timed perfectly and participation was optional so no one is forced to do anything! Food + Drinks: We then proceeded to eat dinner which we lined up and they served you. They had tons of vegetarian options and their kalua pork + stir fry noodles were my favorite. They had a wide menu of signature cocktails which were all amazing. They served pineapple appetizers to munch on while watching the entertainers. Service: Workers were very attentive and interactive. They were great at reading the crowd and moving the crowd, cracking jokes, inviting participants to the stage, and inviting guests for seconds during dinner. Overall I would recommend this luau to my friends, family, and visitors who want to participate in Hawaiian culture. It's a great activity for all ages and can also see this as a great activity to do for those on business trips with their team or with family and friends!

Rain was forecast throughout the day, and since the company's website clearly states that the event operates rain or shine, I expected them to be prepared for the weather. Unfortunately, they were not. When we arrived, the tables and chairs were soaking wet. While ponchos were provided, there were no canopies set up to protect guests from the rain, and many people were left standing outside the venue trying to find shelter. The event felt poorly organized, and I was not the only guest expressing concerns. More than half of the attendees appeared frustrated by the lack of preparation and accommodations. We spoke with both customer service and the on-site supervisor during the event. Afterward, I contacted customer service to request a refund. Their response stated that they were unaware of the rainy forecast and that they eventually dried the tables and put up canopies. However, these actions took place approximately an hour after the show was scheduled to begin, which is far too late. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. Given the weather forecast and the company's rain-or-shine policy, guests should have been provided with a properly prepared venue from the start. Based on my experience, I would not book with this company again.

I later learned that she was a contestant on The Voice. In addition, my 2024 luau was my first visit to Hawaii ever and I was pumped to attend a luau and learn the traditions. Our 2026 host was a gentleman who had more of a flat stage presence. Flash forward to 2026, many components of the luau remained the same. The luau starts at 5 pm and there are various activities on the lawn such as lei bracelet making, some music, a man who climbs up a coconut tree, and a complimentary drink either rum punch or guava juice. There is the typical push for professional photos when your party enters the space with an opportunity to purchase closer to dinner time at $25 each. The show takes a touch to get going and has a strong focus on getting the crowd engaged. There are many songs dedicated towards anniversaries and celebrations which is nice. In addition, there is a big focus on military and those who have served this country being at a military hotel. The event is clean, staff is friendly, yet I do wish there was more performing as opposed to crowd shout outs. The show takes you through Polynesian history, New Zealand and more demonstrated via dancing, fire throwing and hula. There is an MC who hosts, live musicians and interactive crowd sessions. I've never been a big fan of the food but appreciate it all because it's a learning lesson about traditional food. The appetizers are pineapple, pickled onions, poi and salsa with fish that will get split at your table with pre-set plates. Servers will come around to serve the main dish. The main plate contains chicken, pulled pork, steak, fish, sweet potatoes and zucchini. Dessert has always been guava cake which pairs nicely with coffee. My favorite take-a-way from the show is learning how the men have always done the hunting, cooking and cleaning as the women are considered sacred since women can give the gift of life. This is such an honorable lesson that makes me smile. Thank you to the staff as I know it takes a village to put on a show like this especially 3 x's a week. Mahalo!!

Most are very similar but this one was sadly at the very bottom. We felt like we were on a Carnival cruise with a cruise director trying extra hard to get his guests involved. You start out having to sit on the grass on mats! You listen to music, watch some dancing and the main actor a young man climb the coconut tree as they all do. He kept trying and trying to be funny but just couldn't make it. The food was the typical so so luau food but this was plated and brought to the table. Some may like that but the big buffets allow you to get what you like and pass on the items you don't. Here, you get it all and in a big hurry with very little interaction by the over worked server. The "cruise director" did it all from Tiny Bubbles sing along to Happy Birthday songs and Anniversary celebrations. Almost thought there would be no Luau at all! Finally got into it but the dancers, some ok but most looked like they never performed together and had very poor stage presence. I could go on but this really just reflects on the management. The price is good I guess but I know there is better. Sorry to leave this but perhaps it could save you a few hundred dollars. Left two stars out of respect for the Hali Koa the used to put on a great show.

Upon arriving, they immediately handed out ponchos, which were definitely needed. Mostly light rain on and off throughout the evening, but that didn't spoil our time there. They took extra care to dry our seats ahead of initially sitting down at our table and when we returned from the buffet. We were also greeted with a fresh flower lei (booked the Royal Experience). At our seats was a lei po'o waiting for all. They immediately offered us a complimentary drink and a gentleman had fresh coconut ready to try. Just ahead of dinner, the men brought out the roasted pig. A blessing was asked in the native language, and then it was dinner time. All staff were kind and helpful. All of the food was really good, especially the kalua pork, which had a great smoky flavor. I'd dare to say it was better than any pork butts I've ever smoked at home.
