After many recommendations, finally came by around 3PM on a Saturday. It's usually busy during brunch with huge lineup outside, but with their new extended hours, it was quiet with no wait. Had the Bloody Marys, which were great! They were balanced and well-made. Ordered the French toast and the Waffles Melody with peameal bacon. Food came out fast and fresh. Waffle was light and crisp, bacon and eggs were cooked just right. The apple slaw was a nice surprise, fresh and tangy with a light mayonnaise dressing. The french toast was rich and filling. Loved this place! I've always walked by this place but never really knew what it was so I ended up searching it on Google and read reviews they served amazing brunch. And amazing brunch they did serve! I ended up getting their waffle and eggs Benedict. The waffles tasted different than what I thought they would taste like. They were very light and had the texture of bread. When you dipped it into the maple syrup, it was quite nice. I also got the bottomless coffee. LPD is an old favorite of mine when I used to live and work downtown. We had a chance to revisit with some out of town friends a few weekends ago, and it was still as delightful as ever. The restaurant is on the small side and they do not take reservations, so keep that in mind if you plan to brave it during peak times or in inclement weather. We were a party of 5 and had to wait in the rain until the rest of our group arrived. It still took some time to get seated (overall about 30 min in the rain) and they were nice to enough to offer us an order of waffle house on the house, no pun intended, of course! Their waffles are light, airy and delicious. Our friends who both ordered the breakfast crepe, one with peameal and the other with sausauce, both loved their meal. My spinach and brie omelette came with their signature apple slaw with a side of whole wheat toasts and also very satisfying. I've always seen huge queues outside le petit dej, and wondered what all the fuss was. But I totally get it. Luckily we got a good day and managed to get one of the last two tables, but I would definitely be prepared to queue up here. But it's worth it for sure. I love the interior. Dimly lit and cramped but so quaint and unique. It definitely sets you into one of the busy cafes of Belgium amongst the roaring streets of Toronto. Opted for a waffle after hearing how good they are, with a eggs benny. The egg was great and salmon was fresh, served with an apple slaw it just made it. Every flavour was different but went together. But the star of the show was the waffle. The flavour was so unique, I never had anything like it. Not sweet at all and a little like bread, but so soft and melt in the mouth. Paired with the syrup it made for a perfect breakfast that definitely doesn't feel like you need to wean off sugar for the rest of the day! Finally happened! Many a time I'd drive by on a weekend and see a massive line up. Toronto is notorious for line ups, especially when it may well be worth it. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case here. I give it a 3.5. The food gave me mixed opinions. The claim to fame is the Belgian waffles swapped out for your traditional English muffin for the Eggs Benny and we tried both the Melody and the actual poached egg. I liked the apple slaw - crisp and fresh. However, the waffles were a bit of a bummer. Not sure because they were cold but they didn't taste like they were made in-house, or anything special. Time: Visited for brunch on a Thursday morning and we were seated without any issues. There were a decent amount of people there for a weekday morning and although there was just one server, it didn't feel too busy. Menu & food: A good mix of dishes and choices - it made it hard to choose for sure! I got the croque madame ( with a sunny side up egg rather than a cheesy outside ) and then shared the strawberry waffles. I was looking for a spot near St. Lawrence Market for breakfast and multiple websites suggested Le Petit Déjeuner. I'm glad we went! When I arrived I saw a sign that said to wait behind it but since there wasn't a line yet I went in. I think their policy is usually the full party needs to be there but since it wasn't busy I just waited for the person I was eating with. We were seated and brought water right away. The vibes are great but it's a little darker than I'd expected. It's probably great if you're showing up hungover lol. It took a bit longer than I thought for the food but it was goos. The eggs were great but the pancakes were okay. The French toast was a little burnt but was good. Our routine Saturday brunch exploration took us to Le petit-déjeuner, meaning "breakfast". We arrived technically around lunch time, when there was already a long line. 30 minutes wait and we were let in- lucky to be seated in the window sofa seat, arguably the best seat in the store! Ordered two iconic waffle sets: one with smoked salmon and porched egg and the other with bacon and scrabbled egg. I would personally vote for the Apple slice dipped with maple sauce and hollandais. We have been meaning to try this place for such a long time but I always see the long lineups on the weekend and then we backed out. So when an opportunity came to try this place on a weekday we didn't hesitated to go there. We came before 10 am on a WEEKDAY and THERE. WAS. NO. LINEUP. Once we were inside the restaurant, you can tell the place is already busy. We were seated immediately by the hostess and given the menu. This is where the waiting game starts. Since we only saw 2 people working both as a server and barista, we have to wait for 20 minutes before our order was taken. Another 15 minutes before the food came. So word of advice - don't come here if you're starving and expecting a fast service. But through it all, the servers were very nice and pleasant. And the food - OMG they were so delicious! Whenever I go to any breakfast place, I always try the Eggs Benny. This is somewhat my test to see if a restaurant is a FAIL or SUCCESS. And I must tell you that the Eggs Benedict here is one of the best! Perfect poached eggs with creamy hollandaise sauce, a WINNER! And since we also want to try their Waffles, I ordered their Waffle Benny which is Eggs Benedict without the English Muffin and 2 Authentic Belgian Waffles plus a choice of Peameal Bacon or Bacon Strips. The Belgian Waffles is so light, airy and fluffy - sooo good. It also comes with an apple slaw which is also delish. My SO ordered the Eggy Fried Bread which is Caramelized French Toast and he raves about it and since he's picky this is a huge compliment! We also got a side order of Potato Rosti that everyone liked and were wolfed down in seconds. Final Verdict - I should have tried this place long time ago regardless of the lineups coz it's really worth it! This little restaurant on king east gets 3 stars although I'd like to give them 2 stars, however it seemed that they were really trying. I was really craving an eggs benny and something sweet so I got both. An eggs benny with crispy bacon, potatoes and apple slaw and their French toast. I'm not sure which dish was the bigger disappointment. The French toast was crispy but the toast was so thin, it had no substance to it. The eggs benny was probably one of the worst I've ever had. The bacon was super crispy just as I had ordered, however with an eggs benny it's all about the hollandaise sauce and this was such a weird hollandaise sauce. First off, it was SOOOO buttery but not in a pleasant way, there was a rich heavy smell coming off of it. The consistency was so thick, it almost resembled a custard. My thoughts are it was sitting there premade and they didn't keep it over a double boiler so it just got really thick. I wasn't a fan at all. I came around 11 something on the weekend with my husband, and already saw a line up outside of the restaurant. We thought this place must be really good so without second thoughts, we went in line. Luckily, the wait wasn't too long. To be honest, I feel that the name doesn't quite fit the decor of the place. The seats were a vibrant Christmas green in shiny plastic. It's like an old school diner in the 60s but the name sounds like a cute Parisian cafe. We were seated across the bar in a small booth for 2. We ordered the Brussels' waffle benny and a cup of sakura tea. The Brussels' waffles were pretty good. They were different than the typical American wafffles which are denser in texture, instead they were very light and crispy. Overall, the dish was alright. We came here for breakfast this morning to recover from a bit of jet lag after returning from England yesterday, and were very pleasantly surprised by Le Petit Déjeuner. We arrived just after opening, and everything about our experience was absolutely perfect! The music selection was soothing and ideal for the setting, and was at a very comfortable level for conversation. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, with some very eclectic UK stylings. Service was friendly and prompt, and our food was quickly in front of us. I had the Brussels' Melody, and my wife had the Hungry Gal. I have never had a better Belgian waffle, even in Brussels! It was light and airy, with a perfect crispy texture. It was delicious with maple syrup served on the side. Compliments to the chef! We found the prices to be very reasonable for the quality and proportions offered. And after exploring their menu, we were delighted to see that they do a UK style Sunday roast dinner too! Petit Déjeuner is a small restaurant that basically has a diner format - a mix of booth and table seating with a very small bar. Heading there on a Saturday morning, you'll see that the line is likely quite long, rain or snow be damned. Looking at these long lines for a diner-like ambiance, it's clear that this isn't a place people come to for the service - it's for the food. Not to say the service can't be good - I've had both amazing and mediocre experiences there - but if you aren't going to try the waffles here then what are you doing? Hands down, best waffle in the city, period. Easily. The other dishes? I've heard they're okay - I wouldn't know, because I literally get two waffles each time I go. I enjoyed the apple slaw it came with as well as it balanced the super rich and butteriness of the eggs benedict. The hot chocolate was standard and could possibly have been a powder mixture but the Chantilly whipped cream on top boosted its value. Now onto the waffles, they were thick but so so light and fluffy. It definitely had a unique flavour that I couldn't put my finger on but it was a good flavour. Worth the wait. Came here with two friends on a Rememberance day Sunday at 11:00am. Waited about 40 minutes to get in. Small space, very comfortable and clean. Eclectic decorations. Super cute and trendy. I got the Sakura tea (with cherries and rose petals) and a mint baileys hot chocolate. Both delicious. My friends got coffee, a lemonade and hot apple cider. All amazing. For brunch I got the waffle benny. The waffle was deep pocketed and crunchy - not dense at all. The egg benny was okay. I would suggest they change their hollandaise personally as I found it too creamy and bland (but I prefer a lemony tangy hollandaise and not a bearnaise). The apple slaw was interesting. My one friend got the same as I did but with smoked salmon. The other got the eggy bread with a side of potato rosti. I have marked all the places that serve Delirium Tremens and intend to try them one by one. Finally had a chance to try one on my list. This was an easy pick considering the positive feedback it has here on Yelp. My friend and I showed up at 7 and the place was almost empty. After ordering our Delirium Beers we went through the dinner menu which surprisingly is not viewable online. My friend settled on the fish and chips and I went for the seafood crepe. I guess I was expecting a more French menu as the sauce for my crepe was asian inspired. Not bad and considering the price we paid I think it was good deal.
