Went there this past Sunday for a family dinner. Service was great, thanks Rachel! The food was super flavorful.

Friday night. West Village. Felt like I time-traveled straight to the South of France Hit up Le Petit Village with a friend and immediately knew this wasn't your average "let's grab dinner" situation. Corner of Perry & 7th Ave, leather utensil holders, two floors, packed house -- real grown man ambiance. Started responsible... with East Coast oysters. Fresh, mignonette on point, lemon squeeze, and the world's tiniest Tabasco bottle. Felt personally attacked but respected it. Then the duck confit pulled up. Slow cooked in its own fat for hours. Translation: tender enough to make you emotional but still act tough about it. The beet salad? Game changer. Didn't expect to be impressed by beets... yet here we are. Branzino with olive tapenade, green peas, and enough garlic to protect me from vampires through 2030. No regrets. Cocktails? Dangerous. Creative. Smooth. I considered speaking French after two. And shoutout to EVELINA -- elite level service. Attentive, warm, made us feel like VIPs in a place that filled up fast. Window seats looked romantic... and slightly freezing. Food: very good (eg, the branzino, the pate, the mussels) Service: very good Atmosphere; charming, modernized old school French building and decor. Vibe: nightclub -- this killed it for us. So, so loud club music thumping which then drives those around you to talk loudly and, lucky us, we had someone very very loud next to us. To be fair to her she dropped her volume when the ambient volume dropped so I very much blame the restaurant, not her. I've passed by here a couple of times, and finally tried it out on a late Sunday evening. It was nice that they were open so late, and maybe because of how late it was, that influenced how the food turned out. My first restaurant where I ate escargot and it was not in the shell which was a new experience. Their French onion soup tasted like it was missing something. Props to their bread though, that tasted great. Their drinks are fun too. Again, I went pretty late on a Sunday, so perhaps you can take this review with a grain of salt. However, quality should be the same no matter the time of day, so something to consider too... TL;DR not a great spot for some late night French food but maybe it's good during the other hours. New-ish French restaurant from the team behind Loulou Petit Bistro & Speakeasy. Celebrated my girlfriend's birthday there. We were upstairs. There was our table and another 4 seater next to us. There's a bar there so it's easy to get drinks. We were a large group. The waitress was attentive and friendly. The drinks were not in your typical glasses so the presentation was good. I only do mocktails and they had 3 on the menu. I opted for the just a feeling. Unfortunately not somewhere I'd recommend or go again. Really really cute vibe and ambiance. Service was good. But the drinks weren't great and the food we had was sub par. I had the smoke in Edinburgh and it was Smokey in all the wrong ways. The cheese plate was giving discount grocery store and the bread service had to be yesterdays rolls. We've lost count of how many restaurants have occupied this space over the years- but we were thoroughly impressed with how it's been transformed this time around. Not sure what the other reviews are all about but we had a great experience dining at Le Petit! Me and my friends shared appetizers and the flat bread was okay- nothing out of this world. Oysters are oysters. I ordered the steak for my main and it was delicious!!! I am still thinking about it right now. For my drinks I had a couple of espresso martinis (sooo yummy) and a glass of wine w my steak. Dining here felt like eating at someone's house- it was intimate, quaint, and warm (literally and figuratively). We went for dinner but I'm pretty sure brunch here is definitely beautiful too. My friend and I stumbled upon here last night, when we were looking for somewhere close to Mezzrow before the set started. I am so happy we did! We did not have a reservation on a Saturday night, but the host was super friendly and we were lucky to have a table, as the place was busy. The light was very low so we needed our phones to look at the menus. Our waitress, Evelina found us a good bottle of wine and explained the menu very well. The food was amazing and we simply could not be more impressed. The interior was so beautiful too. Sitting by the windows on a cold evening with candlelight was wonderful. When dining at a French restaurant, there's a certain level of expectation. While the ambiance was nice and the staff attentive, the overall experience fell short. It was a very cold night, yet the dining room itself was uncomfortably chilly. Guests shouldn't have to keep their jackets on while eating. Comfort should be a given. We ordered the escargot, which was just okay, and the soup, which was fine. Unfortunately, the steak frites was extremely disappointing. I genuinely tried to like it, but it was swimming in sauce and overly salty, making it difficult to enjoy. The sauce and seasoning really need to be reconsidered. The restrooms were also poorly maintained. One had a broken toilet seat cover, and the hand soap dispenser was broken as well. For the price point and location in the West Village, this was unacceptable. Given how much we paid, we left very disappointed. This restaurant has a standard to uphold, and unfortunately, it missed the mark. read more

I went to Le Petit Village with a friend. The host was friendly and attentive. We were seated promptly (we had a reservation). The food was yummy (we got burgers). The service was stellar. Our waitress EVELINA was the perfect mix of attentiveness and friendliness. She really made us feel like we were special as she always took the time to check on us and the food etc. She really made our dinner experience top of the line. The restaurant is very lucky to have such a warm and wonderful waitress. The place got packed very fast and eating by the window was probably a bit chilly as we saw many patrons who kept layers on. A theme through the night. She sat us down next to a table of six screaming women: the server couldn't hear our order. We got it in, and watched as three tables who were seated after we were got their food before us. Our food got to us: thrown on the table, and lukewarm. "How's your food?" the server asked when we were finished. We told her . Her offer was free coffee. On the way out, we told the obnoxious hostess. She started going through her desk to "find a card so you can get priority service next time you come." I had to break it to her: keep the card, we're not coming back. read more

Fresh, flavorful, and easily one of the best burgers I've ever had--so juicy and perfectly cooked, it's unforgettable. The warm cozy french bistro vibes with prime people watching is such a bonus of this place. It truly romantic and adorable. You cant go to a french place and not try rhe french onion soup- and this one didnt disappoint. It was hearty and had almost an umami flavor to it. We also got the beet salad which was fresh and delicious. We split the oven roasted chicken which was good but I wish it came with a potato, the plat felt a little bland and lacking. It needed a side other than carrots and string beans. All of this aside- it was great, but its super expensive. What to give a place when food was a 4 close to 5 stars but service was a 2 if being generous as they did correct there mistakes. Place is new so at moment they are either overstaffed or all the owners were there. They stated it was busier than normal due to a birthday party for what appeared to be a low level model and her friends that was atleast 20 people. None of the issues by themselves was too big but combined made experience not so great. I generously giving 3 as mentioned they in the end rectified the mistakes and food was good enough. Started as table not set for our reservations. Then when brought glasses for water mine had a huge chunk missing that almost cut my lip. Manager stated would comp us another bottle of sparkling which had to remind them of this at end. The busboy then poured tap water into both of our sparkling water glasses though we had a bottle of Saratoga on the table. I ordered boulibase which is a soup without bringing a spoon. At end of meal asked for wine list and given cocktail menu. The food though was very good. Hard to screw up Foie gras but did like the jam and fresh fruit that came with it. The bread on the side was also good. The steak frites came out perfectly medium. The mushrooms could have been more browned like get at steakhouse but then this is a French restaurant so expected more of a cream sauce like a fricasse should be. My bouilibase was fresh tasting with lots of seafood, There wine list is a bit limited with only a few choice per color but then most places more focuses on cocktails. Five for food, one for service. The food was very good. The rest of experience was disappointing. The cocktails were mediocre. The wine list is small, mediocre and overpriced. The service was not great. For example, our main courses came while we were still eating our appetizers. The server simply picked up the apps and put down the main courses without asking. There seemed to be only one waitress for the entire restaurant. They definitely need a sommelier and have to improve their wine selection. What is good French food without good wine? Not a great experience. On positive note, room is very nice and vibe is good. Great food is an excellent start, but in Manhattan you need the entire experience. The inside of this place, though tight spaced, was absolutely beautiful! It had the nicest dim ambiance and made for a cozy atmosphere. The service was wonderful and everyone was pretty attentive and quick to give recommendations! We kept it simple when going and got their bread service, oysters and drinks and everything tasted great! The Tabasco on the oysters really topped it all off and the drinks were so creative and unique, they were amazing! A fun place to grab some bites and enjoy amazing company and conversations. My wife and I are on vacation in NYC and we stumbled into this place waiting for the Village Vanguard show to start and we are so glad we did. From the minute we walked in, everything was top notch. The host seated us right away at the bar even though we didn't have reservations. Julian, one of the bartenders, took amazing care of us. He gave my wife the excess of a cocktail he had made for a taste test and she loved it so we ordered one. We had the chef's choice cheese board for an app and shared a NY strip with fries for the main. The steak was cooked perfectly and the beef was great quality. It was seasoned perfectly, not over done to take away from the beef flavor, and it had a great lightly smoked flavor from the grill. There was a sauce on the plate with the steak that gave it a great umami flavor. The fries were so good. Light and crispy, very similar to a McDonald's type fry, but piping hot and cooked perfectly. They also had an aioli sauce that came with them that was so flavorful and fresh. As we were wrapping up eating our meal, the manager, or owner, came over and let us know dessert and some wine was going to be on him for the delay on our steak. Honestly, we didn't even notice a huge delay. There was maybe 15 minutes after we finished our cheese board before our steak and fries were sent out. The crème brûlée was fresh, creamy, and light with a perfect flavor. It was a great way to end our meal. The fact that the dessert and wine was comped was a great touch to an already stellar experience. I cannot say enough good things about the staff and the food here. The best meal and service we've had in NYC and probably anywhere else. They were also doing a toy drive for their neighborhood and giving toys away for charity. Do not miss this restaurant! They haven't even been open and year yet and I am confident they'll be around for years to come. Fantastic service, great ambiance with stellar music and excellent food. The baked Camembert in pastry was divine and the ratatouille was wonderfully presented, and was simple but tasty. The aioli of the pomme frites also had a nice kick. Our server was very thoughtful in providing drink and food recommendations when we weren't sure. The bus people were great about making sure we finished our dishes before clearing, and the hostess had kindly arranged some space for us at the end of the bar when we showed up early. I went here last night with a group of friends for a birthday and couldn't have been happier with the level of service we received and the overall experience. Our server was fantastic, he was charming, gave good recommendations and had a great attitude. The host/possibly manager(?) was also very attentive and friendly. Our drinks were all absolutely delicious and the food matched, we all thoroughly enjoyed everything we got. The steak frites were cooked perfectly and the mussels are now in my top 10 I've had.
