La Lechonera serves a large variety of different rice, meats, and traditional sides like Mofongo, Tostones, Plátanos Maduro (Fried Sweet Plantains), Ceviche, desserts and drinks. The cafeteria set up allowed us to see what we were ordering as we walked along and said or pointed at what we wanted. I tried using some of my limited Spanish vocabulary to order our food. We had three plates of food with Fried Rice style rice, Mofongo, Beef, Tostones and Fried Sweet Plantains. For dessert we ordered a White Chocoflan (I don't know if that is the current name) and to drink Passion Fruit Juices. The food was okay. Didn't taste bad but was just okay. The food trays were generously portioned and worth the price - approximately $14. The Passion Fruit Juice was delicious. As one of my favorite juices, I had high expectations. It did not disappoint. I love Chocoflan and only have eaten homemade Chocoflans. This White Chocoflan was delicious. It was not too sweet. Both sides complimented each other well and had a good balance of flavor and texture. We were able to order and pay for our food and drinks in a reasonable time. My friend took me out to eat at this restaurant for lunch. I asked her if it had good reviews and she said that she didn't know. She said she only checked what was on the menu. Upon entering this restaurant I knew that the food was going to be great, because it smelled so good! This restaurant is severed cafeteria style, where you go down the line with different dishes of prepared food on display before you, behind protective glass. A team member on the other side with the food, assists you be gathering together what you point to, as you go down the line. Then they put the food that you pick out into a "to go" container. At the end of the line, you pay for your food at the cash register. Just to make a sure you are aware, a tip is automatically added onto your check when you get to the register. This caught my friend by surprise, because she wasn't aware the tip was included in the receipt until it was too late, and she already paid. You are asked if you want a beverage with your order at the register. You can request a cup of tap water with a lid at this point, but if you don't specify that you want tap water, they may automatically charge you for a bottle of water. They give you plastic silverware with napkins with your meal container. After you pay for your food, you either seat your self at one of their available booths, or you take food with you to go. I got the chicken with white cheese, along with the beans and rice, and I also got some fried plantains. My friend got two dishes with pork and another dish that I can't remember what she called it. My food was so delicious! My friend loved her food as well! The atmosphere here is loud fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the music that they were playing. They also have several large TV's hung from the ceiling. that are playing shows, but I didn't see any closed captioning. The restrooms appear to be just one stall for men, and one stall for woman, and they were kept clean. After I sat down I did see a couple of house flys hanging around our booth. I did see on the wall a sign that said they deliver, but it also said that the minimum order cost for delivery was $300. I'm not sure if this restaurant also partners with meal delivery services. The restaurant is definitely a great place to go and have lots of delicious food! It is also a great place to escape the Florida heat for a little while, as it is kept nice and cool and comfortable inside. read more

We been here in the past and it was okay but we have come twice this month and there has been massive improvements. I especially recommend going in the morning when everything is fresh and well stocked. The staff is sweet and quick. The place itself looks great. A HUGE selection of Latin food to choose from. Maybe five different varieties of rice/morro to choose from (though they were out of plain white rice, fifteen minute wait!) We came mid-afternoon, and while I did see some fresh food coming out, some of what was there was looking dry (the chicharrones, in particular.) The lunch special includes a choice of rice, a protein (I got two large honey-glazed ribs) and a vegetable (mashed potatoes with cheese and bacon mixed in for me.) I added a scoop of pinto beans on the rice. The meal was so large, the to-go box containing it wouldn't close. (They have plates for those eating in (which we did), the lady didn't ask us which we wanted.) The ribs were well-cooked and tasty; rice and beans were good, the cheese and bacon didn't help the mashed potatoes much. My wife had trouble getting what she wanted in the pernil department: there wasn't any nice crispy skin left, just either flabby or hard; and she had trouble getting the lady to pick the nice fatty pieces of meat she tried to point out. I had the chicken, arose con dules ( pardon the spelling Spanish is not like by spell checker) and sweet plantain. The chicken had amazing flavor and was so moist. We also had pork with the same sides it too was very moist and very flavorful. You get so much food here that you can eat several meals off of one order. I finish my dinner with a treat to take home.Guava pastry is was light and flaky with a ton of guava inside and really hit the spot as a morning pastry since I was full from dinner! On another trip we got the beef and chicken empanadas they were flaky and were stuffed with filling. There are two kinds one was traditional and the other was made with a corn crust sticking to the fried beef would be my personal preference! The lady in the counter told me in advance that it will take 15 to 20 minutes, which I totally understand they were just opening. sadly, when they handed the sandwiches over, I could immediately tell that they were not properly done, the ham was cold. The cheese was cold and the bread was semi toasted so in other words, I waited almost 30 minutes and because they were in a hurry, they literally just gave me bread, ham and cheese without properly taking the time to ensure the food was hot. I placed an order through Postnotes of Uber. I ordered the Lechon, Ribs al carbon, Quajito, and Conch salad. I received the most disgusting food I have ever eaten in my life! I have never ordered a conch salad where the conch was brown and so soft it fell apart in your mouth. These people use canned scungilli! It tasted so nasty I just threw it all away, and I paid 18.00 bucks for that trash! Even if it was surrounded by onion, peppers and other condiments, it had no taste of seafood at all, and certainly no taste of conch! The Quajito was even worse, I have never tasted such a nasty-tasting tripe in my life, it actually made me throw up! I have eaten quajito all over PR and NY, but this is absolute trash! Even the Lechon, for which I paid another $18.00, was nothing more than pulled pork. All their food comes with an overdose of Cilantro and recao! This restaurant would not last a single day in Puerto This food is an insult to Puerto Rican cuisine! This food is nothing but an insult to Puerto Rican cuisine!
