I go to this nail salon about 2-3 times a year. Went last week and the male stylist cut two cuticles and one bled quite a bit. The area still stings and slightly tender. The no-chip polish was done well but the nail techs were very unprofessional. They were having a conversation with yelling and laughing across the salon. I put my earbuds in and they were still loud. Pretty clean the staff is friendly but they're unprofessional in that they don't honor appointments. 4 times now I've made an appointment and end up having to wait sometimes as long as a half hour. I have no idea how to feel about this place. They have a $10 minimum on credit cards or something and since I usually just get a polish change (I workout every day and type a bunch for work so manicures often get ruined after a day and are therefore not worth it) it never meets the minimum. I'll usually be like "okay nevermind then" and then they say that they'll take me because they don't want to lose my business. Why don't you just remove the minimum then? They also don't allow tips on credit cards. I do not carry cash around so I don't tip them. I'm not going to carry $2 around so I can tip the woman who spends 10 minutes doing my nails if I'm so inclined. Take credit card tips. The quality of the work is so-so. Some of the women are super good and quick, and others are so sloppy it's not worth even the small amount of money I pay. I also come here on Mondays to get my eyebrows waxed. There is one woman who works there, I believe her name is Amy, that is AMAZING. Barely any pain and she takes no time at all. I never do reviews but I had to do one after my horrible no chip manicure. I went to get my nails done here after my sister suggested it. The place is really nice and inviting I will say that. But I would not go here for a no chip manicure. I got my nails done on Wednesday and by Friday my nails started to chip. I would have went in to get this fix but I was already on vacation... can you imagine my regular painted toes lasted way longer than my no chip manicure. Horrible manicure! My go-to place was full so I decided to give Lee Nails a try. They barely had any nail polish options for a regular mani. I tried 3 different color and none of them dried in the 25 min that I was waiting. Decided to play it safe with white. While getting my nails painted I asked the nail tech if the nail polish would dry as it was very thick and not painting smoothly, he reassured me that it would. I usually get my eyebrows threaded at Deva in Walmart on Touhy but they have closed. I have been growing them back out from a disaster threading 1yr ago. I haven't done anything since December so I figured I'd just get them waxed real quick to shape them up. So I think her name wan En, and the first brow was fine (the one that was jacked up previously) but once she got to the second one I felt her having a hard time getting the wax off and she says, "it's stuck". So now I'm like. "What's the problem"? Then she plucks one more time and days, I got it the glue was stuck". Now I feel a little sore around the eyebrow and she just says " it's better than before". I get the mirror and notice she done fucked up the good eyebrow! Thankfully the manager saw my frustration when I can back for a receipt. I was pleasantly surprised how AMAZING Lee Nails (in the Gateway Center next to Jewel) is! Under new ownership, it is a big, clean, comfortable place. The massaging pedicure chairs are wonderful and I had a relaxing experience getting a hot stone massage and a 5-star pedicure. I also tried getting a "nail-dip" manicure which is like a no-chip manicure, but a little stronger. I'm so thrilled about how great my nails look and feel and for my experience today. I will be back and I'm so glad I gave Lee a chance despite the older reviews on the previous owners. read more

She did the paraffin wax after the polish which initially made me nervous but turned out to be amazing. My color is bright and shiny and my heels (which tend to be very dry) feel soft and look great. This is a nice shop. It's very clean and they give polite care, but like all other employees in these spas they speak their language right over your head. I believe they have every right to speak whatever language they can and choose, but at the end of the day you should provide an honest and open environment for your client. You can't do this if you're not being transparent. This is the same reason whispering around people is discouraged. I wanted to give myself a few days before I wrote this review so I wouldn't make my experience worst than it was. My last full set was less to be desired so I went to this place since it was close to me and I had an event later that day. I set of up my appointment online (first mistake) and asked for a gel full set, nothing more, nothing less. I get there and the tech brings out a jar with powder. I've seen the back and forth arguments about if there is actually a gel product that is power. From my research there is no such thing. I was foolishly under the impression that they must have meant that the actual set was powder but the polish would be gel since there is no options to select regular nail polish or gel polish on the website. The actual application for the set was trash. I had to fight with the tech to cut the length of my nails the way that I, THE PAYING CUSTOMER, wanted them. He kept saying, "They will look nice that way." I should not have to explain why I, THE PAYING CUSTOMER, want my nails. JUST DO IT. I have a job the requires that I type all day and I cannot have my nails too long. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO EXPLAIN THIS TO A NAIL TECH. JUST DO IT! This was also the longest that any tech has taken to do nails. Do not come here if you're under any kinds of a time restraint. I get up to the desk ready to pay my $40 (too much for what I received) and leave and the person at the desk tells me about a rewards card and I say sure I'll get it, whatever. Then he tells me that the cost is $50. FOR WHAT?! He says because of the gel polish. I tell him that I never got the gel set I asked for. He says that the tech used GEL POWDER. I gave him back the rewards card and told him I will never be back. Ladies, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GEL POWER. THAT IS THE BIGGEST SCAM IN THE INDUSTRY. USE THE OPI GEL COLORS! I received my first gel color and had NOTHING but issues; it was the lower quality Kiara Sky and it peeled, chipped and four nails ruined within 4 days. I went back and had a new tech do my nails. He said to ALWAYS use the OPI. I did and my nails looked great for 3 weeks! Every time I go in, Michael does a great job and I ask for only him. And, Amy does a FAB pedicure. I highly recommend. Also, to note, they only take CASH tips. read more

I've gone to this place several times and must admit they are horrible with time management. I took my friend here while she was in town to get a nail fixed. I was able to get a pedicure polish and dried and she still hasn't even been called to get her nail fixed. Finally she spoke up after they let 5 others ahead of her to get it fixed. Later on that day the same nail broke again. They aren't that good at shaping and polishing. Every time I go there after a few days my no chip is chipped. As if they put a thinner in the polish to make it last longer. I started going to another place in glenview. Way better service and my no chip nails don't chip. read more

FYI $28 for a basic 15 min pedicure ONLY!!! And no clear top coat over color. NEVER AGAIN... All beauty no brains! The place is spacious and pretty but the nail techs are too uninterested in their work or the effort (not that my feet are in bad shape or anything). I do like how they are sanitary with the basins and tools. Sanitizing is the main reason why I came but I wish I could find a place like princess nails (I miss the tech named ICE!) who didn't mind putting in work that leaves my pedicures LASTING. Lee gives you a hot towel "massage" which was more like just wiping my legs down with it and a less than average finish (sloppy polish) that isn't worth the money. My feet were not throughly exfoliated. The overall quality is cheaply performed. Princess nails on Clark if only I wasn't scared you'd give me foot fungus we'd be the bff's I long for...sigh. I made an appointment for 6 pm for a mani pedi and was not seated until around 6:30. I really love this place because they do a really good job with my nails always (the men at this place do amazing nails), but I had to be somewhere so I was only able to get a mani. The front desk person was very apologetic and accommodating but I just couldn't give the time. I think that having an appointment is kind of important and they should not have let other people who just walked in without appointments in front of me... I believe they make up their own prices, i understand the place is clean and nice but what good is it if clients can't afford the outrageous prices you have.
