Everything here is freshly made and good. I ordered the honey chicken biscuit. It wasn't a wow factor it tasted a little too plain to me but it was fresh. The ambiance is chill, the service was decent, and it's worth trying out for brunch. 4 stars is me being nice I'd put it at 3
Leeland House is a swanky brunch spot frequented by many by the looks of it. Featuring a small but straightforward menu, an outdoor area with a big screen, and good bites. We got in despite there being a wait by using the back outside area. This does seem like a very busy place so plan around potentially waiting. They have customer parking out back but if you can't find a spot there then you'll have to settle for street parking or the pricier lots across the street. Ordering is quick and the service was good, bringing our dog a water bowl and refilling water very quickly. We ordered their fried French toast, plain cheeseburger, and Cobb salad. The food came out at a decent time despite the server saying they were backed up and it was pretty good. The Cobb salad was refreshing and savory, the fried French toast very sweet with a nice crunch, and the cheeseburger was good but came with spicy house sauce when we specifically asked for no sauce. The fries with the burger are also very peppery but the flavor and texture are good. When we went to close out we were all very happy with our meals. One thing to pay attention to was when we were tipping they only had 3,5, and 7% as options unless you custom tipped which was strange. We're unsure if they auto charge gratuity or not so check your bill, don't seem like they did though. Honestly, Leeland House is pretty good as a casual, fun brunch spot that feels very communal and alive. It was a lot of fun and we think you'll feel the same way when stopping by.
I came to Leeland House with a party of 8 to celebrate a friend's birthday. I was a little hesitant after reading some earlier reviews, but to my surprise the experience was great. The food came out in a timely manner, and our waitress Brianna was prompt, attentive, and made solid recommendations. Service stayed consistent even with our larger group, which I really appreciated. I did have a small issue with being charged for grilled chicken on my salad since it already came with it. The team handled it the right way and made it right by offering me a shot that I selected, which was about a 2.5x price difference. That kind of customer service goes a long way. Overall, good food, good service, and a well-handled issue. I will definitely be back.
Leeland House used to be one of my favorite brunch spots in EaDo with chill vibes, solid food, good service, and drinks that didn't feel like an afterthought. Sadly, those days are gone. What was once a hidden gem has completely lost its charm. The service was painfully slow and indifferent, the food was mid at best, and they've added an automatic 20% gratuity for the privilege of being ignored. It feels like they're trying to keep up with every other "Instagram brunch" spot in Houston... they're just missing the fake grass wall and neon sign. Really disappointing to see a once-great spot slide into substandard mediocrity.
This rating is particularly for the food, not meeting expectations. Reece was amazing as a server and took very good care of our table of 8. The vibe was really great as always, which is why we came. For the food, timing was decent from ordering to the table, but my order was for the Bananas Foster Dream Pancakes. What attracted me to this dish was from their actual Instagram page. The image and description definitely made me want to order but I was disappointed because I thought I was getting these delicious caramelized banana pancakes. The issue is I received regular pancakes with syrup barely drizzled and regular pancakes. Just look at what I received vs what I ordered red from their page.
My cousin and I visited this spot after hearing about their "elevated breakfast," but while the food looked good, the overall experience didn't quite live up to that label. When we arrived, the hostess let us know it was open seating--so we grabbed a spot on their spacious patio, which was lovely. There's also a small indoor area if you prefer to dine inside. However, the setup was more casual than expected: after claiming a table, you place your order at the bar, and the food is brought out to you. That's totally fine for a relaxed café, but it didn't match the "elevated" experience we had in mind. That said, the bartender was very friendly and made us feel welcome. We ordered the Sweet Potato Hash, Leeland Benedict, a Honey Lavender Latte, and a 'Stachio Matcha Latte. My cousin enjoyed her latte and Benedict--especially the bacon it came with. My dish, on the other hand, fell a bit short. The avocado mash didn't taste fresh or homemade, and I would've much preferred fresh sliced avocado. The sweet potatoes were inconsistent--some were delicious, others undercooked. The lavender latte was very light and didn't leave much of an impression. Also worth noting: parking is street-only, so it's a good idea to arrive early to give yourself time to find a spot. Overall, it's a cute place with friendly service and a relaxed vibe, but the food and setup felt more casual than elevated. Nice if you're already in the area, but not a must-visit.
I've passed by the place a few times and wanted to give it a try. The food is pretty decent but it is WAY too overpriced. We paid $56 for 2 drinks and 2 lunch items. The brisket hash and the honey chicken brisket was decent. The iced coffees & matcha had more ice than liquid but they did have other milk options which was nice. But my biggest gripe is, every order has gratuity added in which is outrageous. You pick your own table, scan a QR Code, walk inside to the bar, stand in a line, order your food and all they do is bring it out to you. You can't even ask for more honey, to go cup or even more napkins. Why charge gratuity if you Arn't even going to serve us? Does the gratuity go to the bartenders standing back behind the bar or the cooks? This is also not posted anywhere visible where you order, the bartender told us this after we ordered and charged our card. THEN they ask for a tip on top of the gratuity. If we knew this beforehand we would not have came because why am I paying a gratuity if we have to do all of the work for you.
If you like eggs Benedict even a little...GET THE LEELAND BENEDICT!!! Best eggs Benedict I've ever had, and I've had a lot. My husband got the jam burger and said it was amazing as well.
This is my second time here for a group brunch situation. I believe it is Black owned so it's a popular destination. The first time I didn't have the food but it was a nice atmosphere. This time there was 20ish of us so I know that can be chaotic. They seemed to have a system down where they came to take our order instead of the usual order at the counter and got our names for the orders so it could be separate checks. Ir was still a mess with wrong orders, misplaced orders and long wait times even for tea. I ordered the sticky chicken biscuit and it left much to be desired. They put honey in too of the outside of the biscuit making it near impossible to actually pick up and enjoy as a sandwich. I was really looking forward to the pimento cheese in the sandwich but there was only a drop so I asked for more. The chicken itself wasn't flavorful to me and the potatoes were the best part of the dish. We were outside and it was 50° and due to the permanent canopy there was no sunshine. We had to request multiple times to get heaters which still didn't help much. Long story short they tried to accommodate us with the service but it was still lacking, food was unremarkable and outdoor seating was inadequately heated. I'd be willing to give them another try with a smaller party but I didn't see or hear anyone raving about their food. Parking is limited behind and in front of there is paid street parking and a few adjacent streets with free parking. The lock in the first bathroom doesn't work and seems like something easy enough to fix but hasn't been.
This was my first time trying this restaurant for brunch. I heard of this place via TikTok. There are only a handful of parking spaces in front of the restaurant. So we resorted to parking on the street. We parked behind the bbq restaurant across the street and there is free parking on Sundays. Inside seating in both buildings is small. All tables inside/out are first come first serve. All tables have a number and QR code menu. Have someone stay at the table so you don't lose it. You have to stand in line to place your order. They have two separate ordering lines, one inside and one outside. We decided to sit outside. They had two large screens of tvs playing sports. One was closed captioned. They also had a DJ outside and he was playing great music, mostly R&B. When placing your order, you have to give your table number. There is an 18% gratuity charge automatically added to your bill. If you order a mimosa or alcohol drink they give it to you upon ordering. Specialty coffees are delivered to the table and so is the food. We waited about 15-20 minutes for our food to come. I had the honey chicken biscuit, my friend had the sweet potato hash, and the biscuit basket. The honey chicken biscuit was good. The chicken was flavorful and the biscuit was soft and buttery. The dish was served with diced potatoes. The potatoes were okay. I wish I substituted the side. My friend enjoyed her dish/biscuits. We ordered a pineapple craft mimosa. I didn't taste the pineapple, but it was decent. My friend said, "they put a splash of the pineapple and majority of the drink was champagne." I'd be open to trying other flavors of the drink. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and food here. I will definitely return to this restaurant soon and recommend to others.
Came to Leeland today after run club! Always pleasant and quick service! I had the cheesy classic today and it was a pretty plain burger I would've wanted a little more but overall still good. The ambiance is very causal and laid back, great spot to chill and hang out with friends
I really enjoyed my brunch experience at Leeland House. I visited for the first time after Sunday service looking for a chill brunch vibe that didn't have all the extra activity that comes with other Houston restaurants. The Honey Butter Chicken biscuit was AMAZING!! The chicken was nicely fried on a homemade biscuit. I appreciated the fact that I could add bacon and they had a good mixed berry jam to balance out the savory with sweet. Of course I did the mimosa carafe and the choice of fruit juices (Mango) instead of only plain OJ was a bonus. What I ended up appreciating the most was the service model. All orders - food and drinks, are placed and paid for at the bar upon ordering and you're given a number to take to your table. There are multiple bartenders so you don't have to worry about a long wait or having to go look for your server which was refreshing. Only reason I'm not giving it a 10 is because of the limited indoor seating and lack of free parking which is expected for this part of town. There are fans on the porch and in the patio area so it's not unbearable during the meal. Overall 9/10!
While I did enjoy my food and the vibe of Leeland house, I have no choice, but to feel like I went on a bad day. It took 40 minutes to get sat even with the reservation, and and the restaurant seemed severely understaffed. While there were lots of available tables, our righteous struggled, making regular rounds to visit us. In addition, the restaurant was out of burgers, and biscuits, which really put a damper on our larger group who was seeking both breakfast and lunch options. This is such a cool place, with great drinks and an amazing vibe, I am hoping that my next experience will be better.

So they automatically add a 18% tip to the bill, without telling you. I'm unhappy with this place I personally will not return. At the end of paying your bill they ask for additional tip for the service. The biscuit are homemade, the gravy it not you're normal type.The service was nice. The music is nice, the tables are a bit crowded. The parking spots are horrible, and you have to pay to park. read more

Brunch at Leland House this weekend? Yeah... this one was a whole vibe. They've made some updates to the space--more tables and added covering--which I really appreciated. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and we chose to sit outside. The process is a little different now--you're greeted and seated, and then you can either order with your server at the table or walk inside to the bar to place your order. I tried ordering at the bar thinking it might be quicker... it wasn't It actually took longer than just ordering with the server, so next time I'm staying seated and letting them come to me. Now let's get into it. The drinks were solid. I had the Strawberry 75 (their spin on a French 75), and it was really good--light, refreshing, and easy to sip. My partner had the white sangria, which was just as good. For food, we went with the Bananas Foster pancakes with bacon and the brisket hash. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. I will say--I'm very particular about how my food is prepared, and I asked for the cilantro aioli on the side, but it came on the dish anyway. Normally I would've sent it back, but I decided to try it--and honestly, once everything was mixed together, I couldn't even taste it. So it didn't take away from the meal at all. But the real standout here? The vibe. The DJ was playing an eclectic mix of neo-soul and R&B, and it created the perfect brunch atmosphere--groovy, relaxed, and just the right amount of energy. The weather was perfect, the crowd was right, and the overall ambiance made it one of those places where you could sit all day and not feel rushed. One more thing I loved--they have a large screen TV that you can see from pretty much anywhere in the restaurant. They were showing sports while we were there, and it was perfect. If you want to catch a game but still enjoy a great brunch spot, this is definitely the move. Just know--they close at 4 PM since it's strictly a breakfast/brunch spot, so plan accordingly and get there early if you want the full experience. Great food, strong drinks, good service, and an unmatched vibe. Definitely in my regular brunch rotation. read more

The food was really good! My wife and I came for Sunday brunch. She got the honey chicken biscuit and I got the biscuit and gravy with a fried chicken on top. Great combo! The drinks were great too. Would recommend coming here on a good day. read more

Love this place!! If you previously used my review for reference sorry! This is the Texas Benedict, not the Leeland, and it is still my fave! The cool the egg to perfection and I never leave anything on the plate. There super accommodating because I've ordered the wrong Benedict on at least two different occasions, and they still replace it for me every time. All the food taste very farm to table. The mimosas are fire. I most recently had the hibiscus mimosa and it wasn't as sweet as I expected it to be. The dress is very casual attire and a great place to go on a nice day outside. Make sure you pick a table that's not in the direct sunlight though because it will get hot. I will warn you if the weather is super nice get there early because they do get packed. The parking can be somewhat annoying, but I believe the street parking on Sunday is free. read more
Such a fun restaurant for brunch and friends! The brisket bowl was 10/10. So flavorful, filling, and satisfying. I changed the regular potatoes to sweet potatoes and it gave the perfect sweet and savory blend. The vibe was awesome also. Love DJ, free drinks sponsored by Aperol and the mimosas were bomb. I had a wonderful brunch here at Leeland House on a weekday morning. The inside of the restaurant is great, plenty of seating and a warm vibe. You order at the counter and then sit and wait for your food. The service was fast and friendly. Portions are big and the food was amazing. Very flavorful and well seasoned. They even have drinks to choose from. I had a blood orange mimosas and it was great, very generous pour and not too much juice! I really enjoyed my fried chicken biscuit. It's topped with syrup which adds a perfect sweetness to the dish. I would definitely recommend this spot for a great breakfast/brunch read more

An updated review here - I've been to Leeland House several times. On most occasions, I have a great time. During my last visit the experience was pleasant, however the food was underwhelming. Sweet Potato Hash was cold, poorly crafted, and not fresh. Swapped that for a burger and that was better, but it was messy. The biscuit basket was good though. Reasonable service. Outstanding patio experience and good mimosas. I'll return again for their happy hour. The patio is always a vibe and the DJ was jammin. read more
A consummate brunch place in the heart of EaDo, Leeland House is sort of akin to dining at someone's house. That is, if the house happened to have a staff, large menu, a big local following, and an extra large patio. During good weather days, it's hard to find a more ideal spot for dining al fresco and enjoying some quality fare in a dynamic neighborhood. For all first timers, there is a posted sign that reads: "We are 2 buildings on 1 property. Both places serve the exact same brunch menu. FIRST: FIND A TABLE. Each table has a number and a QR menu. SECOND: ORDER AT ANY OF THE BARS WHEN YOU'RE READY. Make sure to know your table number." My favorite part in this is under the "House Rules" which reads, "EVERYONE MUST BE FULLY CLOTHED. (FOR REAL, Y'ALL). This includes shirts & shoes, no bikinis (or tops that look like bikinis)" Suddenly, I'm regretful I wasn't a regular here years ago. Their all day brunch is popular which a number of dishes that range from $8-15 mostly with a few that are $16-19. The Leeland benedict ($16) is probably one of the best ones, along with the brisket hash ($15) and breakfast plate ($15). I think the burgers are a bit underrated, especially the brunch burger ($16), which thankfully come with fries. Another big draw is their vast selection of boozy brunch cocktails that are $11 each. Additionally there are mimosas, sangria, and bloody marys that are available by the glass or the pitcher. Personally, I think the hangover mimosa is the one to get and it comes in several flavors of pineapple, lavender, blood orange, or hibiscus. There are also signature coffee drinks ($7), and the honey lavender latte is is a big one, as is the brown sugar iced latte. Whether it's a brunch date or a group gathering, Leeland House remains a good option. They are cashless and parking is a challenge during their busiest days. They're only open from Wednesday-Sunday and their hours are limited till 2pm on weekdays and 3pm on weekends. read more
The service, food, ambiance all were a 14/10 ! Not exaggerating! I was in town for the weekend, I got the Honey Chicken Sandwich for brunch. It was amazing! I went back the next day and convinced my friend to get it as well. The waiters were amazing and very attentive while serving over 15 + people at a time (not a party, all in different areas of the establishment). The lavender mimosas were a 10/10 ( I'm not a mimosa person), I definitely recommend! Being big eyed, I got the grits as well. They were good as well! Compared to everywhere I've been this weekend, this is probably my favorite in Houston. read more

Sad about this. We used to love this place. The vibes were more relaxed, you could go up to the window and order. They've changed it, and now it's reservations only and the food isn't as great. Order the brisket hash (used to come in skillet) now it's smaller portion and served on a plate. Leeland Benedict was okay. Bread was super soft but not much flavor. Espresso martini, Bloody Mary, and lavender mimosa was very mid. I will say, my friend ordered the Caesar and said it was the best she's ever had. The lettuce was crispy and the flavor were blended perfectly. Overall, sad with the updates and probably won't be back. read more
The new changes are going to run this place into the ground. This was our every Saturday chill neighborhood hangout spot; perfect place to come after a morning workout. It was counter service and extremely efficient. I would have fully given 5 stars. But in the last few months they've added so many things, I'm not even sure I want to come back. Now they have hostesses, require reservations, and charge automatic gratuity. And it'd be fine if these things improved upon the experience, but it's gotten worse. You walk in and most tables are empty, but are still told you can't sit outside. It doesn't even have the lively vibe it used to. Everything is slower. You can just feel the energy is off. The DJs try their best, but even that can't save this. Only positive is the food is still great. I highly recommend the brisket hash or the sweet potato hash. But I'm leaving 1 star in hopes of getting the attention of management because I really want to provide constructive feedback. read more

As many times as we've been here for brunch I'm surprised I haven't already rated them. Probably because I always have the best time and are to busy seat dancing or entertaining with friends to take pictures to post. They have a great outdoor space so when the weather is nice this is definitely one of the top brunch spots to be at. The food has always been fantastic here and they have great mimosa specials. Apparently they stopped serving champagne by the bottle as they used to or they don't have that offer this past weekend. But the mimosas are like $4. Unheard of these days. They select the best dj's that play a good share of any upbeat sound. Mostly house mixed in with another genre of music. If you want a more quiet vibe they do have seating in the front of the house that looks a lot more relaxed. The space is dog friendly and we've brought our dog out a few times. It's an order at any of the three windows and they will bring the food out to you, so it's pretty quick to order. They also have another window that's just for drinks. Between the three of us we had a mixture of a chicken Cesar salad, sweet potato hash and a standard breakfast plate. Everyone said their meal was great. I had the hash and it was fresh, light but filling. I did have to add an extra egg as the one poached egg wasn't enough. The only thing I would change about the hash is to add more of something else (quinoa, etc) to eliminate the vast amount of sweet potato you get. My first visit to Leland house did not disappoint. The shrimp and grits were sooo good. Love the outdoor patio seating for nice days when I went it wasn't too crowded and was able to sit at a table immediately. It is more of a self serve Model so had to wait in a short line to order food, but they brought it out pretty quickly after. There are a lot of projectors and screens to watch sports as well. Good vibes overall, especially with the DJ! read more
Really cute brunch place! Right in the heart of Eado and in the loop. They have 2 buildings and an outdoor seating area. I got the honey chicken biscuit which was pretty standard, nothing to complain about. My favorite dish I've gotten from here though is the brisket hash. Brisket is perfect with the egg and potato. Food came out fast and service was good! Parking sucks on the weekends but there is street parking where you can pay on your phone. read more

This place is so cute! We enjoyed are meal but they were out of a few key menu items so we were bummed. No biscuits, no brisket, no coffee beans when we went. Maybe if you get there earlier in the morning all items are available? Not sure. We enjoyed the white queso, the BLT with an egg and the shrimp and grits. 10/10 for the food, taste and presentation. The service did take a little long. We went on New Years Day. The sweet bartender was bartending and taking orders. She did her best and we appreciated her, but they might have benefitted from one more behind the bar. The vibe was good, we will definitely be back on our next visit to the island! This is a great casual hangout with craft cocktails and brunch menu available throughout the day. Our happy group of alleged retirees all met up and wandering back to the second building on the property to find indoor service. Grab a menu and place your order at the nearest bar and it appears at your table moments later. I had the creme brûlée French toast which featured layers of bread in two cake sliced portions and plenty of sweetness. It did, however, lack the crunch typically necessary to claim brûléed but was still delicious and oversized. Bacon accompanied it and the smoky, meaty unctuous taste was a nice counterpoint. Came here on a Sunday for a birthday party. It was really a cool laid back vibe. They have the house area that is inside and you can eat in there and there is a bar as well. Then if you head to the back yard area there is ample outdoor seating, a big screen tv and bar area. It's really self service, as in you order food and drinks at the bar and they deliver it to you. The prices were good. There was an awesome DJ. The food was great. We really enjoyed ourselves. read more

I recently visited Leeland House for brunch. I will start off by saying the food was soooo good! We both had the Honey Chicken Biscuit. The chicken was nice and crispy on the outside, but still juicy on the inside. The spiced maple syrup on the biscuit was sweet and sticky. The biscuits reminded me of something my grandma would make. The potatoes that came with it were crispy and the perfect texture. We also had the hangover mimosa. Let me just say we felt good after drinking it. The perfect buzz. The service was quick and efficient. You place your order at the bar and they bring the order out to your table. They had plenty of seating, but most of it was outside (just FYI). I prefer to sit inside, but nothing was available. The vibe there was cool and casual. The music playlist was nice. The noise level was fine. It was busy, but I could definitely hear my boyfriend talking. I would definitely recommend and I'll be back! read more

Disappointment is my one word summary for Leeland House. I was very excited for the brunch at Leeland since their brunch menu looked so good, but I was disappointed with the service and the food. Our party of 3, which consists of a toddler, ordered 2 creme brulee French toast and 1 order of crispy chicken and biscuit. For drinks we got pineapple juice, and 2 lavender honey latte. 1st of for the price, the food portion especially for a brunch menu was small. Next, the biscuit was supposed to come with scrambled eggs and it didn't. When we asked the server she said she doesn't think it comes with eggs but will check. She never came back, we asked a 2nd server, he said the same at which point we showed him the menu and he got a side dish of scrambled eggs which was basically flavorless. No salt as well. From our drinks order, one latte was missing which didnt arrive in spite of asking 2 servers. We finally had to go inside where we placed the order to get the drink. The attitude and service of servers for raising legit concerns was as if we were wasting their time. Never coming back here again. read more
My run club meets near here every Saturday and I finally had the time to make it in. There's indoor and door seating, with a nice patio. Seating is open but you may have to wait for a staff member to clear the table. There's two places to order food from: inside at the bar and outside window. I was not aware until my companion told me. I ordered the brisket hash, avocado toast and pistachio matcha latte. All were good but the toast, particularly the avocado were a little bland. Food came quickly and was reasonably priced. If you're in the area, stop by! read more
1/13/2024- Came here for breakfast with a party of 9 after the "We are Houston 5k" race. This place was highly recommended by Houston locals and ambassadors to the race. This place is the cutest! We sat outside, it ended up being a beautiful chilly morning. They have an awesome outdoor space. You order inside and they just bring it out to you. The inside is just as adorable. The menu looked amazing. A lot of different options. Some savory, some sweet. We came pretty hungry, and everyone seemed to be super happy by their selection. Some ordered avocado toast, hash, egg sandwiches, etc. I went with the basic breakfast but there was nothing basic about it. Everything on that plate was delicious. The eggs, the bacon, the bread, the potatoes! all of it. The one thing that stood out to us was the fantastic service by the staff. Highly recommended! read more
My gym partner's and I Saturday brunch spot. Love sitting outdoor on their patio. There's a DJ always playing a good mix. The Chicken Biscuit, Avocado Toast and if you drink, the Espresso Martini is so good. But I pretty much order the same thing which is the Brisket or Sweet Potato Hash with the House Coffee. You have the option to order inside or at the window outside. There is usually a line but once your order is submitted your food comes out quickly. read more

Came back to this place with friends after 5 years and it's still so good!! Everything was very flavorful, well seasoned, and the food came out fast! Service was really good as well, our waiter came to check on us every so often. Interior is just like how I remembered it! I love restaurants that are made from houses, I think it's so cute. We also ordered a mimosa carafe and it was really good! Can't wait to come back soon! read more
Came here for breakfast after the We Are Houston 5K this past weekend and had a lovely experience. Leeland House was recommended to me by an Ambassador for the Houston Marathon who certainly knew what he was talking about - fantastic recommendation! The menu looked amazing but I wasn't that hungry so my friend and I opted to split the avocado toast which ended up being the perfect portion size for both of us. The avocado toast comes with a generous side salad and even two pieces of thick bacon! I really enjoyed the dish. I also LOVED the honey lavender latte - goodness gracious I could have drank like three of them - so delicious! I took away a star due to the whole order at the counter situation and that there are two restaurants that share the same space so I was pretty confused. Leeland House is always a go to for good brunch and a dope atmosphere. Order at the window and they bring your food to the table. We decided to eat outside on this day because the weather was beautiful. Seat yourself, barcode menu, large screen outside to watch games, and shaded areas. My go to is their sweet potato hash. Food was just okay, cold & plain for $17. My Bloody Mary was good, but tiny for $14. I have pictures. I was automatically charged 18% gratuity for me having to go in an order & get my own drinks. Ambience is good. I'm visiting Houston & will not return to this place. read more

Leeland House has become one of my favorite brunch spots in Houston. The brisket hash has me in a chokehold! Tender, flavorful, and just the right amount of food. The vibes are cozy, the staff is always kind, and the food never disappoints. Perfect spot for a laid-back weekend meal... Football season is right around the corner and I love their outside patio with megascreens. read more
