The haircut was fine. I usually love chatting with a barber. It might be a good idea for the business to just stick a big MAGA sign in the window. That way patrons will know that instead of having a relaxing talk about the Giants there will be some guy yelling about conspiracy theories and immigrants while putting scissors to your head. If you are into that, that's great. For me it was most stressful time I have ever spent in a barber chair. Ugh. read more

The way a good ole' barber shop should be! It's walk in only and when I got there, he had one in the chair and another in line. It didn't take long before I was up and my haircut was solid and efficient. Friendly conversation about the history of the shop (started in 1933!) was a nice touch as I was in and out in no time. Do not go to this place. I would give it zero stars if I could. My son was looking forward to having his first barbershop haircut especially since things have been closed for so long, so we went yesterday. The guy did a total rush job, and before I could say anything, he had whipped the smock off and started sweeping his hair away. The back and sides were uneven, but since he had a customer waiting and we felt rushed, I didn't say anything at the time, which I wish I had. So this morning I call and get a different man on the phone, Andrew (run by two brothers). I start describing to him what happened, and he got huffy right away and said "I can't believe people who do this. What a way to start my morning with the customer complaining to me." Before I could describe to him why we walked out without saying anything, he hung up on me. After that, we got in the car and drove down there, and the guy who hung up on me had four customers in his shop (walk ins only). He had no idea who I was. A few minutes later, the other man who cut my sons hair walks in, recognizes us, and said "oh you guys are back". I asked him if he would be willing to clean up the sides and the back, and he did. The other guy who hung up on me kept looking over at us because he realized who I was, and was probably waiting for me to say something. Since I was with my son, I took the highroad and walked out of there not saying a word with my head high (believe me I wanted to say a few choice words), knowing karma will come back to him and I will never step foot in that shop again. I know people and businesses are struggling right now, so you'd think they would be gracious and respectful. read more

A very good place, a barber shop not a hair styling emporium. Also he's very nice and considerate to disabled folks. Plus I have seen him be great with kids. Recommended Update - the place is run by two brothers who really know how to cut hair. I had to wait this week (it's first come first served, as a true barber shop should be) and saw one of the brothers, sorry I forget their names, do four haircuts, all different, on men from 12 to 60. It was impressive. Plus they will, or won't (depending on what you want) talk to you ( not all barbers are so attuned to their client's wishes). Another plus, is the decor. I love this place (just a shame I no longer live in the Bay Area). These guys know how to cut your hair and keep an interesting conversation going. The cool thing is, they're genuinely friendly - one perk of going to a small barbershop instead of say, Fantastic Sams or something like that. There was one occasion that I had come in for a haircut and to my huge embarassment realized that I hadn't brought my wallet with me (this was after I had already gotten the haircut). They were super cool about it and didn't give me any grief when I had to run home and get it. The guy who had given me my haircut (I wish I could remember his name!) even suggested to "just bring it next time you come in" (being someone that would rather not procrastinate on issues such as money, I ended up bringing it back right away). Needless to say, they turned what could have been a massively embarassing situation into one that earned my repeat business right up until I moved out of state. Best baber shop in town. Had 2 cuts there by both brothers and I'm feeling the hair cuts. Super cool people, super nice and they got skills. Left happy both times. They're cool to talk with while they Michael Angelo your hair. One great thing they have a super nice dog that chills and you can kick it while you wait. They also have a dog that chills in the back and sleeps, more like a guard dog they said. That's cool with me too. I went to another barber shop in Novato before this and it was bad. I've been to a few barber shops in my life, but this place is one of few that does it right. The guy cutting hair (I'm embarrassed that I don't recall his name as he remembered mine) was friendly enough, he didn't muss around with all that fake excitement you get at a salon or other places. I told him what I wanted and he cut it the way I asked, no styling, no bs, just a clean haircut. What blew my mind is that it took him less that ten minutes using one comb, one pair of scissors, and a small clipper without an attachment. I was the only guy there he didn't know by name so I assume they get a lot of repeat business. Go there and see why. read more
