I went in for a normal low fade and the lady didn't know what she was doing. I asked her before hand if she knew how to do fades. Instead of giving me a zero fade she left an inch of hair on the side. I didn't want to ask her to try and fix it because she obviously didn't know what she was doing and would have butchered it further. I would stay far away from this place. She also did my hair in under 15 minutes and gave no time to it. read more

Ann is excellent and highly skilled at cutting hair. She's been doing it a long time and you can definitely tell. I went in to get my haircut as I had very long hair at the time. I was growing it out to donate it. I didn't know you needed an appointment (they take walk ins but if they don't have room then you'll have to try later).m, but Ann was able to squeeze me in. She followed the detailed instructions for Wigs for Kidz per their website and I walked out not only with my hair donation but also with a fantastic haircut. She also uses a straight edge to clean up the lines which you don't see everywhere. Ill definitely keep coming to her even though we are moving out of Marin and over to El Cerrito. It's hard to find someone who can cut my hair skillfully. Definitely try them. Also she does curly hair which is hard to find, she has curly hair and understands it. Finding a new barber that you trust is always a difficult task. Like most guys, I hate explaining how to cut my hair, and I would just like someone to take my guidance and replicate time and time again. I have been to Frankie twice now, and she's done an amazing job. What impressed me the most was that after I got home, and certain aspects of the cut wasn't exactly how I envisioned, Frankie invited me to come back to fix it at no cost. Frankie has been cutting my hair for over two years now. I see her every 3- 5 weeks. sometimes I walk in and sometimes I make an appointment. She communicates well no matter the situation. I walked in on recommendation from a friend and was taken by Frankie after waiting for about a minute, after which I was treated to a full wash and hair cut that ended with some warm shaving foam that left me feeling relaxed and invigorated as I left, and all for a dollar more than the nearby Super Cuts. Excellent and reasonably-priced service all the way around. Frankie always cuts my hair, and I always get compliments a week or so later on how good it looks (not that it didn't look good when cut). If you get a shampoo, she'll massage your scalp, which is the highlight of the day! Took my son in last month for a haircut with Maureen. We had to wait 30+ minutes after our appointment time and the cut took almost 1 hour! I had a little one with me as well so this did not work out for me. Additionally the place is filthy. I know hair falls in Barber shops and hair salons but they never swept up once the whole time I was there and I could see clumps of dust everywhere - my little one was sitting and touching this mess - yuk! I have been to much cleaner establishments. Maureen herself was nice and my son liked the cut but we won't be returning. I wanted to check out a new place to just make sure we were getting a good deal - indeed we were. My son's prior barber did a similar cut for the same price (though I will say my son said he liked Maureen's cut a bit better). So one star off for gross premises, another off for being late and another for taking forever to do a simple boy's cut. Didn't work for me but might work for others who have more time and are less squeemish about lots of hair everywhere... read more

Walked in wanting to support a local business. There was no one ahead of me so I thought I'd get served pretty quickly. No one greeted me, took my name, or even acknowledged my presence. I waited 10 to 15 minutes, at which point another gentleman walked in who they knew and took right away. I'm sure he had an appointment, but am guessing because they still didn't so much at look at me.
