    Best Vietnamese Iced Coffee
    Trinh T.

Lee's Sandwiches is a popular Vietnamese Banh Mi Sandwich chain located in Garland. While you can find Lee's all over SoCal, you'll have to plan your visit to check out this convenience & grocery store/sandwich & coffee shop. This review is going to focus on Lee's amazing Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Deli Manjoo freshly baked cream cakes. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Located in the Saigon Cali Mall, Lee's Sandwiches is a convenience store and sandwich shop rolled into one place. Heads up, very little English is spoken here, but if you can point to what you want, you'll be ok. There are plenty of tables and chairs for seating, and you'll line up and snake through shelves of snacks and goodies to entice you as you. There are also drink fridges that contain Vietnamese desserts and Iced Coffee (details below), and a huge room where you can see how the bread is baked. 1 Star. Service - Service is fast and efficient but check out is awkward. If you are buying items from the store, you bring them to the checkout counter which has a chest-high windowpane that separates you from the staff. Now, if all you're doing is placing a sandwich or drink order, this is no problem. But if you've been shopping for items you're holding, you must pass them over to the staff to check out. Like I said, it's awkward. 1/2 Star. Food - I know "Sandwiches" is in the name, but I don't get my Vietnamese Banh Mi here. But Lee's is my GO-TO place for Vietnamese Iced Coffee. You can order from the staff, but I also like to grab a bottle from the drink fridge to take home. Lee's Vietnamese Iced Coffee has the perfect amount of creamy condensed milk that makes the coffee go down so smooth. It may be on the sweet side, but if you buy a bottle to take home you can control the sweetness by adding more ice. I also always take home a box of Deli Manjoo. Occasionally, a staff member will make these soft, vanilla crèmes filled cakes fresh - which is the best time to buy. But if you can't buy them fresh, you can buy a box to take home. Just pop in your microwave, cover with a damp paper tolel, and after 30 seconds you'd think it was fresh out of the oven. 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. Full Transparency - I'm not a fan of Lee's Vietnamese Banh Mi. But I absolutely will come back for their Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I'll even take some home since I live far away. See you next time, Lee's. 1 Star.

Y'all, as a self-proclained Sandwich Connoisseur, please know this sandwich owed me NOTHING! Simple, but on point. With the first bite, I knew I was going to have to try other sandwiches and add Lee's Sandwiches to my regular rotation.

It's been a while since I last stopped in to get a sandwich here at Lee's. I usually get their #1 which is the combination banh mi. Same good taste but I think there are mom and pop banh mi places around especially in Garland that are better In my opinion. They also sell other Vietnamese rice cakes and treats that I haven't had the chance to try since I'm not very familiar with a lot of them. The line can get long here around lunch time but I didn't have that problem during this visit. Keep your receipt after paying to keep up with your order number. They usually call out the number in Vietnamese so sometimes it's hard to figure out. I just stand by the pick up area and kinda show them the number on my receipt when they are calling one out. This is extra important when they are dishing out one sandwich after another. Their signature coffee is the one that stand out the most. It creamy, sweet, and very strong. It's definitely the drink to try here.

I love coming here I always get the grilled pork bahn mi with the iced coffee. Super tasty and fresh ingredients for a very reasonable price! I usually just go through the drive through, but this restaurant is attached to a huge market full of goodies so I would definitely recommend going in to shop around before or after picking up a delicious sandwich at Lee's!

    #1 combination, Vietnamese ice coffee

The Lee's sandwiches are not very good in my opinion. There is a banh mi #1 in the same food court just a few steps away that is better with more variety and softer breads. I got the traditional combination #1 the bread hard and whole sandwich super drying, the ice coffee has very little coffee and mostly ice.

I've heard a lot of good things about the coffee here, but didn't find it "all-that". Overall, decent experience and not much to say! Hoping to try it again soon sometime for a better experience.

    #81 Bacon, Egg, and Cheese

Picky eater approved. Great for all of you who love breakfast anytime. I ordered the #81 Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. It comes on a fresh baguette, which was soft, flaky and delicious. I washed it down with a Thai Tea, no boba.

Do you sell your in-house pate and butter?

I have seen the pate there; however, I'm not sure about the butter. Check the refrigerator cases by the counter.

    Are you open Christmas Day?

Yes! Lee's will be open on Christmas Day (12/25) from 7am - 5 pm

Well, talk about a hidden gem. I had this place bookmarked but could not tell you where I heard…read moreabout it. It is basically a little luncheon oasis dropped right in the middle of a gigantic industrial park. On the drive over I was seriously questioning my Yelp choices. It is that kind of location. But trust Yelp and sometimes you are handily rewarded, which we absolutely were. We came after a few hours strolling around at the Botanical Gardens, so we rolled in around 1:30 and there were still plenty of people there. I can only imagine at noon this place is packed, and honestly it should be. My biggest complaint is the menus. There is one above the counter that does not include everything, and then a different, more complete version if you scan the QR code at the table (But 2 different navigations even on the website with slightly different menus). Do yourself a favor and look it up ahead of time so you are not standing there making panic decisions. There is a half sandwich and half soup combo (Not on the board but online menu), which is definitely the move. I got the pozole, which you should absolutely order, and a half grilled cheese on their housemate sourdough. Normally not my go to, but I was trying not to be completely stuffed since we had dinner plans. And they bake their own sourdough, so I had a strong feeling it would be great, and it delivered. Toasty and melty, American and cheddar. My husband got the southwestern wrap, and my friend went with the half club and half tomato soup. She immediately regretted not getting the pozole and the half birria sandwich, which tells you everything you need to know. Also need to mention the snickerdoodle. Not much to look at, kind of humble, but it completely makes up for it with flavor and that perfect soft texture. Go ahead and get the cookie. You are not here to make responsible decisions. Bottom line, it may feel like you are driving into the middle of nowhere, but keep going. This place is worth it.
