They do custom cakes at super affordable prices as well, and have a cake book to look through. Sometimes we grab food to go and eat at the downtown square. My son likes to come with me and grab a treat My warning for lunch on a weekday is that parking is insane/difficult. Weekends are fine, but Unless you have a good chunk of time to grab lunch you are going to end up doing some walking, so it doesn't end up being a quick bite. Mornings are better. read more

I went for the first time Saturday and it's a nice bakery with a lot of options for baked goods with cheesecakes, cake slices, quiches, scones and sweet bread slices along with coffee and other beverages. It has a nice bakery/cafe ambience with multiple tables to dine in and a case of baked goods to choose from you can see when you get closer to the registers. The staff was nice and friendly and we didn't wait long for our order. We ordered a jalapeño cheese quiche, strawberry and blueberry scone, and a cupcake. The quiche came warmed out and had good flavor, just wanted the crust to have a little more crunch. Those scones though are the best I've had hands down, so good we went back the next day lol. So I came here with my mom, my sister, and my brother-in-law. We stopped by for some coffee and breakfast. It was my first time here; my sister's been before. When you walk in, you're welcomed by a beautifully decorated café/bakery. It feels very welcoming, and the energy is amazing. I don't know how to describe it--very farm-like and adorable. Right next to all the baked goods, they had so many delicious pastries I'd love to try. I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese croissant, which was delicious. I also got a coffee, which was very good. Overall, I had a great experience there and highly recommend it. Wow what a hidden gem. This great spot is only a few minutes drive from the Harley Davidson dealership in town. I could see myself taking a nice ride and stopping here for lunch. We could overlook the poor customer service if they were busy, but it wasn't busy and even if that wouldn't excuse the bad attitude. My wife ordered s slice of the strawberry bread but we got home and she was upset to see strawberry cake. The cake was stale and hard. My cinnamon bun was definitely old and not fresh, noticeably stale as well. I didn't have a 2nd bite. The slice of banana walnut bread was the worst, i had to spit it out. What a cute little bakery/cafe in downtown Garland. I didn't get to try any of their food, but I did grab an iced coffee and some of their sweet treats. Their coffee was good, but basic. Nothing outstanding about it, but I have to rave about their sweets. The moisture and texture of their cookies were on point! And their cheesecake was great as well. Upon pickup, we weren't notified that there had been changes, so when we got to the venue - we were a bit frustrated by the order change without our knowledge or consent. I've been meaning to check out Latham Bakery for a while. I tried a slice of German chocolate cake and a coffee. The bakery is right off the newly refurbished downtown Garland Square, across from a hemp shop. It's clean and spacious with a lot of cafe table seating. They have a full menu of breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Their customer cake prices are reasonable. The cake I had was deliciously sweet and moist with an almost fudge-like frosting. A bit sweet for breakfast, but I have no regrets. This place would be perfect for working except the Wi-Fi connection was a bit spotty. The barista was friendly and kind. My first chance trying them was when I did the downtown garland tour. The city had some pastry's from Latham and they were so good I am glad I finally had time to go in the actual shop. I'm so happy Latham bakery is in garland! It's a must stop whenever we're in canton. This place has some of the best pastries I've ever had and is quite the cute space. We came in after a day on the square and luckily they still had quite a few pastries left even though it was later, the service is prompt and you order at the counter. We got the pecan sticky bun and the strawberry cheese danish. Both were excellent as expected and even tasted better the next day. The portions were really good, especially for halves, and they don't skimp on ingredients! Where most places use blue cheese crumbles on their salads that can be dry, the blue cheese on this salad is fresh and creamy. Their poppyseed dressing is not too sweet and the salad itself is very fresh. Granted, there's nothing overly creative about a club sandwich, but fresh ingredients on fresh toasted sourdough bread make it delish and that's all that matters The sweets were taken to go for the boyfriend, so I don't know how good they are but everything looked so good it was difficult to choose! I ordered blueberry danish, strawberry shortcake and spinach and goat cheese quiche. Blueberry danish was the best- The filling was very good and not surprisingly too sweet. You can really taste the blueberry! It even has streussel topping. The quiche was very heavy on the pastry, and the pastry bread itself was good. It was PACKED with spinach and you can really taste it. However, it could have used alot more salt or some kind of flavorful sauce as it tasted really bland by itself. No seasoning at all! On to strawberry shortcakes.. first of all it has beautiful presentation. The cake it self was moist and sweet, while the frosting was not very sweet and marshmallowy. But I could taste that it was frost bitten and not fresh. And as someone else in the reviews said, the frosting did taste heavily like Crisco (shortening) which was not pleasant. As a fellow baker, I would rather have them use real butter and cream to make the frosting rather than use crisco just for stability! read more
