For a "just a diner, I give it 5 stars.... you walk in to a feeling of the 50's and the friendliness of "Cheers", where everybody knows your name. My parents live in Pigeon (the next town over from Caseville), on Sand Point and I am roughly 2 hours south of Pigeon so we often find ourselves eating Leftys. The menu has several options like an omelette, burger, pulled pork sliders or meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The service is great, if the servers are busy and running around they likely breeze by to check on you, but they still do.... I have been in the business for years, one thing I notice often is cleanliness. The building may be old and about to lean over, but it's clean from what I see. I also know that their food is fresh and I've never had a bad meal there. The flatware/China are meeting the same fate as the building & some menu items come in a red basket, the prices are reasonable, so for that my daughter can eat her chicken fingers out of a basket for now. Lefty's is a great diner. Their hand-dipped onion rings and burgers are both fantastic, they are known for both, and their milkshakes are still made the old fashioned way. The decor is delightfully cheesy. As far as I know, the original Lefty's Drive-In is still open on M-25 south of Bay Port during the summer months as well. EDIT: The original Drive-In is still open during the summer months and the food is better than the Caseville location. read more

My family has gone on vacation to Caseville for over 60 years. Lefty's is one of our favorite restaurants to stop for lunch or dinner. I have stopped for breakfast once and that is equally delicious and very affordable. The decor is pretty outrageous for some, but it adds to the charm. It has a lot of '50s Sock Hop decor, but I will forever love it. Don't judge the food based on the outward appearance. My husband and I have gone several times and we are always are happy and full when we leave. He's a burger lover and I prefer the steak fajitas and look forward to it every year. The fried pickles are by far the best ever! I've never been to the drive-in one on the corner of M-25 and Colwood Rd. (It always looks closed anyway) - I always go to the one downtown Caseville. Seriously, do not pass this place up! Personally, I think Lefty's has not only the most delicious food in Caseville, but also the most broad menu selection. It's also very affordable. read more

Visiting Caseville for the first, and last time. What a weird town, and it didn't stop with Lefty's "Drive In". First off, it's not a drive in. They have a few tables out where you would normally park for a drive in, but they don't serve out there. We came in, sat at the bar to place an order for outside when we were informed that they didn't serve outside. The waitress seemed annoyed that were were even there, as if she was doing us a favor with us coming in to buy food. We both ordered the "2012 Burger Winner" which was average at best. For a town supposedly know for their "Cheeseburger Festival", none were any special to me. Took 25 minutes to get our food. Prices were NOT cheap for a diner. Two burgers, fries, cokes and 1 shake was almost $40. If i ever happened to drive through this god-forsaken town again, I definitely would NOT stop at lefty's. If you want somewhere good, try the Roadhouse. GREAT pizza. read more

I was traveling through the 'thumb' of Michigan, and my guidebook recommended a stop. This was a beautiful slice of Americana. Lefty's fried fish sandwich and hand-breaded homemade onion rings were quite worth the stop. Make no mistake-- the place is dated, complete with tacky facade and all-- but don't let this fool you. I also found the staff to be quite friendly. The owner's daughter chatted me up, and told me a bit about the history of Lefty's. Lefty's OK, so I was less than enthralled with the cheesy pink & turquoise, faux tropical decor (fitting for Caseville's yearly Cheeseburger in Paradise fest, I suppose...but for a cheap, fried meal, it fits the bill! Lefty's earned a full point from me for the fact that it had fried pickles on the menu, and the milkshakes are classic (your straw will stand straight up in this large class of thick, creamy goodness). Portions are massive. I had the fried clam dinner and it was too much for me to finish (although that may have had something to do with the clams coming to the table after I'd eaten the pickles and was well in to my vanilla milkshake!) Good for tourists, although it also seemed pretty full of locals...and priced right to draw a lot of the "early bird dinner" crowd. read more

We came from Detroit to visit a friend in Caseville during the cheeseburger festival. The service was ok the young guy gave us place mats fast . But we waited for a waitress for 10mins. The food was just food it didn't excite me one bit. But the chocolate shake was better than the food. So if you're starving go here but it's got to be better places in CaseVille. read more

So I went there for breakfast and we got a custom omelet and customized number one breakfast. Can I just say, I was impressed with the service and most importantly the food. Everything was spot on! I love that everything is handmade to order. From having real bacon slices, to having hand chopped onions in my eggs and hashbrowns. The pancakes were also amazing! A lot of people complain about a wait. All I got to say to that is I placed the order and the lady said 20 minutes and it was at 22 minutes later I was out the door with my order. Also, the waitress who took my order relayed my order without looking at what was written down prior. She's got skills. So yes, the place is gold for breakfast. I will come back for sure. One regret. We came to Caseville for an afternoon of fun by the beach. Unfortunately for us it started to rain and thus our outdoor fun was now a search for local cuisine. My father in law remembered a pizza place that he use to go to as a kid--Joe's he called it but o think it is now called Giovanni's. We tried it but it wasn't open for lunch! Then we saw Lefty's and was like "there are a lot of people there, it must be great!" Unfortunately, it wasn't great. It wasn't bad either. It has a quaint atmosphere and looks to be a local diner. If I could give this dump a negative star I would. We were in caseville camping with our two teenagers when we decided we wanted to go out to lunch before some shopping in town. I ordered the turkey bacon wrap. Well I needed my turkey warmed up as I'm pregnant & that seemed to be an inconvenience for the waitress. I also asked for well done bacon ( pretty sure I'm not the only one), regardless I received my wrap & it wasn't cut. No biggie, however I was extremely confused how o was going to be charged $10.00 for a wrap with literally 1 slice of bacon... ONE! So I kindly waited for the waitress to return to our table which she didn't so I asked when she had a minute I had a question. As my family continued to eat I continued to wait as she forget that one of her tables needed assistance. Finally she returned and once I notified her of the "one" slice of bacon, she said " oh I'm sorry!" I heard the cook yell "it only comes with one piece!" She returned to relay what I already heard however she said they would remake it. Perfect. Well 5 minutes later my plate was basically tossed in front of my by another waitress who rudely said "sorry!" Then walked away quickly. Well I realized pretty quickly that the cook shoved another ONE piece of bacon in what was remaining of my wrap... at this point i was in awe. None of us were offered a refill on our drinks and as she returned she asked how the food was. I debated in saying anything but since we had already determined we were not coming back I decided I'm going to tell her about my "returned" wrap. She took the wrap off the bill reluctantly. As we were getting up to leave, another patron cane up behind us and asked if we had ever been here before ; I told her no, nor would we be returning! She spoke with us outside and apparently she asked for a pop to go in a cup. The same waitress we had took the lid off the foam cup tossed it in front of the patron and poured her pop from the plastic cup to the togo cup then said "here!" For. $45.00 bill for 2 adults & two kids... save yourself the hassle & eat somewhere else! read more

Probably the best breakfast I've had in a long time. I ordered the breakfast burrito and I wouldn't put down my fork. When you define diner this place is it with it's fun colorful themes and coffee pot always running it is your typical diner. It wasn't as clean as I would like it. LEFTY'S DINER-- 6937 Main st, Caseville, MI 48725. This place does not even deserve one star, but in order to write a review I have to give it one star. This is the worst place my family and I have ever eaten at. Yesterday, August 7th, 2014, my family and I decided to take a long drive to the beach for the day. We ordered our food and began eating. My burger did not have the sauce on it so I was waiting, and just ate my fries. While the waitress was at our table, my 7 year old daughter lifted a fry to find a spider crawling around in the basket. She was immediately sick to her stomach-- as was I. My husband had almost finished his meal and my 4 year old son was finished as well. I had ate my fries but was so sick to my stomach that I did not even touch my burger. I could not physically eat after my baby found the spider, and if that wasn't bad enough.... I looked up to find a huge spider web above the jukebox. The waitress immediately took my daughter's fries, squashed the spider as she apologized, and said they would immediately make her fresh fries. Neither my daughter nor I had the stomach to eat and we just wanted to leave this unclean establishment after paying for what we had eaten. I asked to speak to the manager and when she came out, she was very rude, saying she just wouldn't charge for the fries. I asked to speak to the owner and the very rude manager said she was the owner's daughter and refused to get the owners for me to speak with. The manager said that if I did not want to pay for everything, including the uneaten food that resulted from upset stomachs because of the bugs in the food, then she was going to call the police on me. I told her that was fine and we would wait to speak to the police. My 7 year old daughter started crying when the manager rudely told me she was going to call the police on me, and she coldly walked away as my daughter expressed concern about me being arrested (I haven't ever had any encounters with police so this was very foreign to my daughter) through her tears. I reassured my daughter that we were just going to speak to the nice officer about what had happened, and we waited. Once the officer arrived she greeted my family and I, and I explained to her what had happened. She had experienced a very similar experience and she saw the spider webs herself. The officer went back into the kitchen to speak to the manager and with their voices elevated to compensate for the kitchen noise, the entire restaraunt could hear the conversation. The "manager" was asked by the officer to come out and speak to me in order to reach an understanding of some sort and she refused. Repeatedly the officer asked her to come out from the kitchen and this manager refused. The manager lied to the officer saying that we refused to pay for the entire bill; that was never even said. The officer told her that we would pay for what we had eaten prior to finding the bug in our food and seeing the webs on the ceiling, and that is exactly what we did. The waitress was nice so she did receive a good tip from us; I felt bad that she was in that awkward position. What happened to customer satisfaction being the most important priority? Had this happened anywhere else I am sure our entire meal would have been comped. I haven't ever had a bug in my food anywhere before, but I was a waitress at a restaurant that comped food for hair in it. Every customer was always treated with respect and kindness and if someone was upset about something, we would do whatever we could to ensure their satisfaction and repeat business. I EXPECTED to eat a nice meal with my family after a fun day at the beach, in a clean restaurant, while being treated nicely. The exact opposite is what my family and I received. Our bill was not expensive, it had nothing to do with the money, the principle behind this entire situation is what upsets me. Lefty's Diner's COMPLETE DISREGARD for its patrons, veterans, and child customers is appalling. My family and I will NEVER step foot in this place again. My husband is a disabled combat veteran who served over 9 years active duty in the army, and we have never been treated this poorly in any of the states we have been stationed in, at any restaurant we have ever visited. I wouldnt even give this place one star but in order to leave a reveiw it was mandatory. This establishment was the furthest thing from being clean and sanitary. The level of customer service by the "manager" who is also the daughter of the owner supposedly is disturbing. Spiders found inside the food and when my sister mentioned it to the manager she was disgustingly rude. Not expecting anything in return but possibly new fries that were void of living spiders all that was received in return was hostility and rude comments. I am the operations manager for a multi million dollar customer service business and would never think about treating customers the way this "MANAGER" did, and if any of my employees did family or not, they would be terminated immediately. I guess the part of customer service this woman forgot or hasn't grasped yet is that without the customer you have no business. This is a personal review to share our experience. This way others are aware that the possibilty of ingesting living spiders, and bugs are very likely. Enjoy at your own risk. read more

I consider this a 5 star place. I always eat here when in town. They have a great menu and fair prices. If you have not been here in awhile you should see the remodel they did last year. I don't typically log on to write negative reviews, but Lefty's in Caseville warranted the time neccesary to do do. We should have seen the abrupt and abrasive approach of our waitress as an omen of things to come, but we were trying to be hopeful. Finding out that we couldn't order breakfast at noon on a Saturday was the next blow. Upon the arrival of the coffee, things were looking up. It actually had a bit of body to it, unlike most other places in town. Sadly, things took a turn for the worse once again when the food arrived. My SOM (steak onion and mushroom) sandwich looked pitiful-there it stood, an uneven pile of charred meat. Supposedly there was cheese, but even a dairy forensic team would have had trouble detecting it. Once I moved the meat in an attempt to even it out, I ended up with just under half a sandwich, so I cut off the remaining bun. Did I mention the meat was charred and chopped to oblivion? The mushrooms and onions were as well, rendering them barely recognizable. There was one more positive though-the french fries seemed to be fresh cut! My partners chilli cheeseburger left him cold as well. There was zero flavor to the burger or the chilli. And don't get us started on the fried appetizer combo of cauliflower, mushrooms, pickles and onion rings. This, the fine folks at Lefty's apologized for (it looked like a fried homicide of the above mentioned items) and took off our bill. There aren't a lot of dining options in Caseville, and after our visit to Lefty's, there is even less. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

This is not what it used to be at all! I have such fond memories of Lefty's from many years ago. My husband, son, and I ate at the location in town. Soooooooo disappointed that I will not be returning. First of all we were seated right across from the window where the waitresses pick up the orders. We could see that our food was ready to be picked up. After no less than 5 minutes our waitress picked up the salad (that was already cold) and took that to a gentleman where she proceeded to talk for another few minutes. (while our food became colder) She was not a young girl that might not be a seasoned waitress..... This was a mature woman my age if not older. Finally......she picked up our food and brought it to our table. Well let me just say... the french fries I ordered were a greasy,rubbery, cold mess! (I couldn't even get my husband or son to finish them) My son's coney burger had cold chili and a warm(at best) burger. My husband's BLT was just "ok" and the fries that came with their burgers were stale. I will not ever take my family to this place to eat. read more
