Greystar is a terrible corporation and since their takeover, we have not had any amenities, working elevators, working key fobs. they added a door system with a premium membership. It's been like this for months, construction all hours of the day, clueless staff, the only good reviews coming in are literally from people who have come for a viewing. Also water shut offs, random false fire alarms, alarms going off in the lobby for days on end. Also chicken bones (yes, chicken bones) all over the place and a general lack of maintenance. And they raised and are raising the rent!!! read more

Lived here for 2 years with my husband in a 2 BR (and he lived here in another 1 BR apartment the year prior). This was also during the time of change in management from Legacy Partners to Security Properties. Overall, the building and apartments are fairly nice and rent is reasonable. Also a good location in a quiet part of the city surrounded by good restaurants and easy access to public transportation. Good amenities as well -- common room, office, gym, 2 rooftops, community garden, and a media/movie room. We had friends over (pre-COVID) and reserved the common room for gatherings which was very convenient. The elevators constantly break down, about every other month, and sometimes it takes several days to fix. We lived on the 6th floor which was only accessible by one elevator, so very inconvenient if it was down. The worst part was definitely the residents who showed complete disregard for others' safety during the COVID pandemic. Management put up signs for only one household/person per elevator. These signs were almost immediately removed or defaced by residents. Several times, people (sometimes unmasked) would try to get in with both me and my husband. Once, we asked if a man and a woman could wait since we were already in the elevator. The man looked frustrated and then punched/kicked the elevator door after it closed. I reported this to management and heard nothing. They also informed residents not to gather in the common areas, but I witnessed several large gatherings of unmasked people on the rooftop. I recommend against living here during the COVID pandemic. read more

Decent apartment, but overall not worth the price. I recommend signing only if there's a great deal on offer. Pros: - Nice common areas, especially the lobby, rooftop, and community room. Fitness center is small but good equipment. Plus one for having an AirRunner, but minus two for having a rower a bike that only work with a monthly subscription (which the apartment doesn't provide) - Good neighbors. There are some friendly people that live here, especially those with planting plots on the roof. Facilities guy Sam is awesome; really friendly to talk to. - In-unit amenities. Really nice counters, cabinets, and (in some units) industrial-sized fridge. Cons: - Trash collection. It's a perennial issue. Garbage rooms and chutes are regularly backed up and stuffed. - Domestic disturbances. It's not uncommon to overhear loud tenants or to happen upon a homeless person outside the gates (once they even made it inside the hallways). In the park nearby there's regularly a budding homeless camp. - Management. They're not terrible but not great. Sometimes things get done well and others times it feels like a mess. I would NOT recommend living here. Ever since the change in ownership it has gone from a great community to anything but. As soon as they changed ownership/management doing things as simple as getting a package became something they'd be short/rude to you about. Along with anytime you had a question it felt like you were intruding by even going into the office to ask. You could pop into the office to ask a question and the staff would huddle by one computer in an office, see you, not acknowledge you and continue whatever they were doing. No one seemed really friendly or knowledgeable. You can get a much nicer apartment for equal or less rent - we couldn't get out of their fast enough. read more

My wife and I are currently living in Legacy at Pratt Park. Pros: Nice neighbors Staff is friendly Great apartment layouts Cons: The hallways (and sometimes my apartment) smell of people smoking weed You hear everything from the apartments above you. really the noise from the neighbors above and the lack of enforcement of the smoking rules ruin much of the appeal of living here. I guess this is more of a review of the neighbors than the building itself, but with some more aggressive management this place would be 5 stars all the way. read more

Do NOT move here! I can't echo the previous reviews more. If I could rate this place half a star I would. The staff at this apartment building act like you are living at the Ritz. The apartment building is in the central district and your rent WILL be increased every time you think about renewing your lease. How can you warrant continual rent increases when the apartment is in the central district?? I can't tell you how many times I heard gunshots and fighting in Pratt Park. Also, I never noticed building or landscaping improvements being made to account for these rent increases. Oh wait, maybe there was some painting done on the tiny metal balconies and some smelly spray-bark in the flower beds at one point. I lived here for 2.5 years, which I must say was 2.5 years too long. The staff will treat you terribly. For instance, I had a fridge that buzzed the entire time I lived there. I went to the office and made multiple service requests and the fridge was never fixed. I was actually taken aback when the staff member asked me "What did you do to it? Did you try to move it or something?". Even a request to change out bulbs in the track lighting seems like an inconvenience to them. You are treated like an annoyance by the leasing staff, or as if they are doing you a gigantic personal favor by changing a light bulb. The actual maintenance staff is quite friendly and I have absolutely no issue with them, they were always very nice gentlemen. You will be nickel and dimed to death here. I have never had to PAY money upon moving out of an apartment before and I paid over $500 when I moved out of Legacy. Was my unit in terrible shape? Absolutely not. I shampooed the carpets every month, scrubbed it clean when I left and had minor damages to the walls. Was there normal wear and tear after 2.5 years? Absolutely. That is to be expected. I couldn't believe I was writing a nearly $500 check when I moved out. My rent check when I first moved in 2.5 years ago (including parking) was $1150 a month for a one bedroom with a den. If I had renewed my lease again after 2.5 years, my rent check would have been $1580 per month!! An increase of $430 in 2.5 years.....IN THE CENTRAL DISTRICT!! No improvements were made to my unit in that time. Also, this does not include any utilities (which were also expensive). Someone in the office had told me the rent kept increasing because Legacy's competitor is the Chloe, which has similar units and amenities. Um, last I checked the Chloe is right next to the Pike Pine corridor and doesn't have nearly as many gun related incidents. The Chloe is paying for location, I have no idea what the ridiculous rent increases are for at Legacy. The units are very nice and the amenities are good, but you will pay through the nose for it and be treated like a nuisance if you enter the leasing office once you are a tenant. They will make no concessions for you regarding rent increases, even if you are a tenant who was never once late with rent and didn't have any complaints from her neighbors. There are no good restaurants surrounding the building, just a small convenience store across the street and a half decent vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant. Save your money, live elsewhere where management will treat you well and you won't be bled dry of money. The original management team was fantastic (Glenda and Dustin were fantastic!). The management team that took over afterward is terrible. I've actually had people roll their eyes at me for making basic requests (like picking up a package). Get this, the manager actually had a flip chart on her desk that stated her current mood (ie: "Grumpy" or "Angry" for example), which was on display and facing you when you sat down in her office. I'm sorry, but regardless of what mood you're in, you should treat tenants well. I'm sure a cookie cutter apologetic response from the manager is to follow..... read more

The other negative reviewers are right: this place will bleed you of money and treat you like crap with loads of oppressive, arbitrary bureaucracy. The only positive review hasn't been there long enough to know better. I had to break my lease to leave town and it cost a fortune. When I went to check out and give them their check for around $2000 in penalties, the manager refused to accept it because it wasn't a certified check... if I wasn't going to pay, why would I give them any check? Anyway, the manager insisted, even though she knew I would have ruin my moving plans and stay in town in a motel that night so I could go get the certified check in the morning. I was only saved by a nice employee who caught up to me on the street and took me back in to accept the check. Then, they took my security deposit citing "dog hair everywhere". There was a little, but it was well-swept, and cleaning the floor was supposed to be part of the standard cleaning anyway. The kicker was that they charged me an additional $3.95 beyond the deposit. Their first and only demand letter insisted I pay with certified check within a few days or else they would trash my credit and sic collection agencies on me. Ridiculous! Finally, the title for a vehicle I purchased in Utah was accidentally sent to them via Fedex a couple of months after I left. They accepted delivery and did not notify me, which I believe is illegal. By the time I figured out what was going on and where the title was, I only had two days left to register before I would be driving illegally with no plate. The manager refused to Fedex me the title, even if I were to reimburse her, citing bureaucratic rules. I ended up arranging to pay for it here via a mailing place and have it picked up... even then she could not be bothered to fill out the air bill by hand, and insisted that the mail guy fax her a pre-printed bill. Handing a guy a piece of paper is the most she was willing to do. Do business with a giant corporation like the one that owns LAPP and their soulless bureaucratic minions and you will regret it. Do yourself a favor and rent from a property owner or a smaller local outfit. read more

The building has great extras: roof top decks, a gym, party room (fee to rent), and theatre room (fee to rent). The prices are considerably higher than other buildings in the area and if you life on the sixth floor, there are a lot of challenges as there is only one elevator that goes to 6 (it is located in the parking garage, does not open to the lobby where the mail boxes are, and can be locked down when people are moving). None of this was explained to me when I was shown the 6th floor apartment (I chose) that I actually pay a premium to live in. The water/sewer/gas charges are also quite high. Mine average $65 a month for one person. It never changes no matter how much or little water I use. I agree with the rest of the reviews in re guards to the nickel and diming. There is an additional charge for everything, including the ability to pay rent on-line. The on-line system itself is a joke. It never seems to be accepting payments and if you want to set up a recurring payment with your debit card there is an additional $30+ charge per month. (crazy!) You can not see a ledger, so you never really know what your balance is without going to the office (which as mentioned above, I can not directly get to from my floor, I have to either walk across the roof or the parking lot). I would have moved at the end of my lease, but the timing was not great, so I have had to find a way to absorb a $100 rent increase (in the CD?????). At that rent rate, it is cheaper to own in the area. read more

Legacy at Pratt Park has by far been my worst renting experience ever. This is from someone that always pays their rent on time and is a quiet, clean, and courteous tenant. First, at Pratt they have contracted with a third-party utility billing company that will charge you an unreasonable amount for your water use. In my new location, I pay about $60 per month for water to a similar third party company. At Legacy, it was typical to receive a bill of $150 or more for water. I am sure Legacy received a cut of the billing collection and it was clearly a way to get more income from their renters by "disguising" it as a utility cost. Further, I gave over 90 days notice that I was planning to move out at the end of my lease term. Because I had a plan on where I was going to move, I offered to move out earlier if they would like in light of the fact they had increased their rates substantially and it would be beneficial to them. Legacy did find a new tenant for my apartment and asked me to move out early. I accepted and they thanked me in writing for being willing to help them out. We therefore modified the terms of my lease to have an earlier end date. What did the management of Legacy do later? They said I broke my lease with them and forfeited my deposit, sending me to collection for payment of the money they say that they are due. This is ridiculous and unprofessional behavior. DO NOT TRUST LEGACY AT PRATT PARK! Even if you have a agreement in writing they will not abide by it. Very shady business and leasing practices! read more

I just moved out after spending 1 year at these apartments. Upon the move out, they decided to charge me $400 for cleaning and painting because it was not "normal wear and tear." There were some tiny holes from hanging pictures, and a few scuff marks from furniture rubbing etc. There was nothing damaged in the apartment and some paint (which they have to do between tenants anyway) would fix it all. After fighting this, they decided to cancel the painting charge, but are keeping the cleaning charges because there is "an apple in the fridge and some dust and specs in the cabinets." As a result of this, I informed the manager that I would be taking them to small claims court. I spoke to my mother (CFO of a real estate company) and my current apartment manager about this and each of them agree with me on the issue. I was urged to sue for 5 or more times the amount of charges I was given. What I am trying to say is: DO NOT MOVE HERE. They will nickel and dime you through everything. It is not in a good location - I was legitimately scared when I walked out of the back of the building. This was the final straw. What a disappointment. I do not go on here to badmouth companies UNLESS they are unfair to the consumer. read more

I'm currently still a resident here but thankfully my lease is up in a couple months. We will not be renewing. The building itself is nice and for the most part the neighbors are great. I love that there is a park right behind the building so I could take my dog out there. The building is right by a bus stop so it was easy getting to work in downtown Seattle. The maintenance staff is great, Wayne is always so very nice and helpful! Now for the bad. The surrounding neighborhood is pretty shady, we actually had someone pull a gun on us when we were out walking the dog one night. The building in the summertime gets very hot (our apartment measured 90 degrees one day) and there is no air conditioning except in the lobby and leasing office. After our first year's lease was up, we decided to move to a ground floor apartment, the office staff made it seem so easy, but after we sat down and signed a lease they started slapping us with more and more deposits and fees! Mind you we didn't get our first deposit back either. Then after we moved in to our new apartment, they sent us a bill for over $100. All these things were not communicated to us until after we committed to the new apartment. It was like a bait and switch. Then every so often the office staff likes to come up with new rules on what can and can't be done. We had a bike stolen from the bike rack in the P3 parking garage, where supposedly only residents can get in, but the garage door is broken so often anyone can get in. I also heard one of my neighbors had a bike stolen and several storage units were broken in to. They say they are no responsible for this kind of thing, which I understand but if we are paying money for it they should at least take steps to keep our things safe. Overall this place is overpriced for what you get. You can live in South Lake Union for almost the same price. The only good thing was some of the fantastic neighbors I've met. I'm not saying don't move in but you can get so much more elsewhere and be treated better. read more

Two years ago, when my life changed, I knew I wanted to live here. From the moment I walked into the office to this very day my expierence here has been AWESOME! There will always be people who are not happy with something. I'm not one of those people. No one and no organization is perfect. However, the complex is as close to perfect as we can find. Period. I currently live here and I will be renewing my lease. It's a great location and it's all upgraded. The building is solid, you can't hear your neighbors and it is controlled access, so it's about as safe as you can be in Seattle. They also have a private security guard to patrol the building at night. I will agree it is poorly managed but they staff, well Dustin anyway, is awesome. Glenda and Cameron are no longer here and everyone else in the front office is new. They are slow to respond but if you are persistant they will help. They are perhaps just understaffed and with the volume of residents they have, I'd think it would be hard to get everything done immediately. If you ahve an issue stay on top of it. Ask for expected times for a resolution and follow up. Rent is reasonable for the amenities and location. Yes, there have been issues with dog popp in teh hallway or other trsh but they always clean it up when it's reported. If the office isn't open, it'll sit there but WTF if they're not here - they can't pick it up. Dog crap in the hallway is really the issue of the resident who left it there. You can't blame mgt for a few irresponsible dog owners. I've only noticed it twice (in the same week) but never again. It's a nice place to live and despite the bad reviews I will be continuing to stay. I do wish they were more responsive to issues you bring to their attention and I do wish I didn't have to follow up on EVERYTHING I request (keys, parking spot, move in date, other apts in the bldg avail) but it's a minor price to pay. Every apt bldg will have issues, this one isn't all that bad. Update; I finally moved out of the building because I couldn't handle their continued non response to issues. The front office staff has turned over more times in the five years I've lived there than any other building I've seen. No joke, they have had 14 different staff members coming and go in the very short five years I've been there. They also continue to raise rent every year at the maximum, 10%. By the time but I left, I found much cheaper apartments that are maintained to a higher degree with better management, much closer to the desired amenities nearby neighborhoods like Capitol Hill. This point, it's an overpriced building that thinks it's worth much more than it actually is. More of a concern, the elevators and garage gates are literally always broken, which means people off the street can easily breaking in the building... Which they have many many times. It seems like every week they were posting notices on our door to keep an eye out for suspicious people. A Homeless refuge tent camp moved in three blocks down the street, and while I can't say with any certainty that they are the ones breaking into the units or stealing bikes, the timing is very consistent. read more

I have had all great experiences here and I've lived here since the building opened over 4 years ago. The management is made up of a great and caring team of people who really want to make this an awesome community in which to live. It's crazy to think that because of the reviews here, I almost didn't give Legacy a look. Let me say, I AM SO GLAD that I didn't judge what is now my home off of what I read here. I LOVE my home --- Pet Friendly {my cat loves sitting on the window sill soaking up the sun and watching the birds on the patio}, Close Location to Downtown, Tasty Places to eat nearby {Cheeky's Cafe + the Pho Bac are DELISH!}, Gorgeous Units {I have a wonderful fireplace in mine that is perfect for chilly Seattle Evenings} + not only are the Amenities GREAT {the gym is a great perk + rooftop deck is my favorite --- where my husband and I grill out at least once a week}, but the staff is nothing short of FANTASTIC. From day one, they have been helpful, honest, and topnotch. I had a problem with my garbage disposal shortly after moving in and it was fixed the same day I filed a request. The girls in the office are always so welcoming + really make me feel I'm a part of this community. Not only that, but I am a small business owner --- just moved to Seattle from Iowa with absolutely no contacts to network with to help build my business from the ground up --- the staff has been so supportive and helpful with getting my name out there... from giving me a heads up about Expos + Shows in the area to telling other tenants in passing about my business. I am SO grateful for the support from the staff + have them to thank for getting my feet back on the ground. I would recommend Legacy to anyone. I haven't had one bad experience and have ZERO complaints. I look forward to calling Legacy home for years to come. read more

I am not sure why the reviews are so bad here. I was worried when I moved in, but the staff is really nice, the hallways are always clean and the building is maintained. I looked at several apartments before I moved, and this one was the only one with a leasing agent I actually liked. She wasn't scamming me, and she was helpful in getting all the paperwork through. Any maintenance problems or questions I've had have been tended to. Surprisingly, I rarely see my neighbors. Like most buildings, you don't hear your neighbors next door but you do hear stomping from upstairs. Gym is fine, has a clubroom and a media room, plus parking and a business center. The individual apartments vary, but from what I've seen they are pretty cute and in good shape. Washer/dryers in unit, big bathrooms, huge closets. The hallway decor is not my favorite, but the upkeep is great so I don't mind. Only downside is the neighborhood lacks many restaurants but that is slowly changing. Within walking distance of Red Apple Market for groceries. read more

Overall, I enjoyed living here. That's not to say we didn't have issues - but I have yet to find an apartment building that's perfect! Pros: Brand new building (we were the first to live in our unit), underground parking garage, close to downtown / bus route 14, rooftop deck, allowed to BBQ on our own balcony, in-unit laundry, police arrived within a couple minutes of calling. Cons: Witnessed several major crimes from our balcony, not a lot of nearby business to walk to (though a couple started sprouting up), garage door broken half the time, rent payment / parking pass miscommunications, unreliable security (new company may be better)... The main pro/con of our unit was that we were directly underneath the Wonder Bread sign. While it was cool to show off to friends "hey look directly above you" and use as a night-light, it also meant people jumped onto our roof almost nightly (LOUD), and pigeons sitting on the sign pooped all over our balcony, rendering it useless for anything but grilling & quickly running back inside. People seemed to calm down after we got new security, however, our repeated requests to get those nail things to scare away the birds were ignored. Also, my request for a key from the P3 lot into the stairwell was also ignored for two years. read more

Attn to detail with the property and how the residents are best suited. Reasonably priced for the amenities, cleanliness and location. Jamilla (property manager) rocks. I really enjoy it here at the Pratt Park Apartments. Very knowledgeable staff, great maintenance guy and security staff. The building offers secure parking & entry which makes me feel better about my car. The media/movie theater is a blast!! Huge projection screen and comfy bark-a-loungers! Plus a party/entertaining room which works well for me when guests come over for dinner and games. So far this building, apartment and staff have been a Wonder! Ha, just like the bread sign on the roof. Which reminds me, the roof is THE place to be in the summer! gorgeous views of SODO, downtown, The Puget Sound and capitol hill. There are BBQ's for grilling and chairs for chilling. Basically this place is great. In closing, I have yet to meet a neighbor that wasn't pleasant, a staff agent that wasn't helpful and a maintenance problem that was not resolved with in 24 hours. I moved to Seattle from Phoenix for work. In my hunt for a quality place to live, I came across Legacy at Pratt Park and its iconic "Wonder Bread" sign atop the roof. now almost 8 months later, I am in LOVE with my apartment. Studios have beautiful hardwood floors throughout, ample closet space, in-unit stacked washer and dryer for convenience, and plenty of space to truly make my apartment my home. Rent is very affordable, especially for a Downtown Adjacent and Capitol Hill Adjacent neighborhood. Secure, controlled access garage parking at an affordable monthly rate, dramatically cheaper than anything Downtown, and both guest parking and ample street parking available, makes access here and visits from friends and family easy. The staff here, is wonderful! A joy to work with. Sarah and Rachelle in the office are courteous and very hospitable. Both work very hard to ensure that every tenant truly feels appreciated and at home. Wayne, the buildings Technician and Engineer, is a genuine "Mr. Fix-It"! You will always see him running about the building touching up, cleaning up, and ensuring everything is spotless and pristine. When it comes to maintaining your apartment such as when you get a sock that gets stuck in your washing machine drain, he's the best man for the job and the one you want to call on every time. My lease is going to be coming up in June...and trust me, I will be sincerely considering renewing my lease versus moving anywhere else. If you are looking for a place to rent in Seattle...you would be doing yourself a favor by coming by Legacy at Pratt Park and seeing exactly what makes this building such a wonderful place to call home. read more

This 5 star review is for the manager Jamila, staff, and maintenance crew of Legacy at Pratt Park. My boyfriend and I moved here in June 2015 and stayed for one year. LPP was a great introduction to Seattle for us. Ultimately we decided to move on to another area, but we felt compelled to express our gratitude to the wonderful staff. From the first day we moved in, when Jamila stayed after hours to meet us with our keys, to our last when Jamila did a courtesy walk through with us to show us exactly what clean-up was expected to receive our security deposit, the staff demonstrated a rare level of professionalism, courtesy, and thoughtfulness. Wayne's crew was always friendly, and responsive when we needed a small fix in the apartment. Overall, the people running LPP were the best part of living there. Thank you all! read more

I moved here in Sept 2009. As one of the first people in the building I've loved living here. The administrative staff has been wonderful, the location is convenient and the price is excellent. Falling ~25% below prices of similar - smaller - units on Capitol Hill. I like grilling on the roof and enjoying the city view. There are some fun & useful building features: 1. Active building - it's like Facebook but for your building. Residents can talk to one another, send private messages and generally connect to your neighbors. 2. Online rent pay - I hate checks, and this has been a great benefit. Reminders arrive in my email with a simple link to pay rent online. My husband and I lived in a 2 bed-2 bath corner unit for a year and while the location, and apartment layout were great, the apartment itself definitely needed some updates and was not very clean when we moved in. Carpet was old, appliances well-worn, faucet nozzles grungy, gunk was at the bottom of the shower door and bottom seam of shower walls. They are making updates to apartments when vacated (laminate flooring, counter tops, appliances, back splash), but weren't enough to keep us there. (At move-out, we were charged $50 for carpet cleaning despite the fact that they would be tearing it up for the upgrades). They should consider upgrading to better quality interior paint, and low-flow toilets along with more efficient washers (plus dryers) to help manage the high water bills. A new residential/retail building is going up across the street so if Legacy wants to compete with that, they're going to have to step it up not only with a property refresh, but also with a stronger, more present management team who really cares about the property and residents. I honestly couldn't see how our rent was reinvested back in to the community. Pros: - Floor plan - Nice location (projected growth area for Seattle) - View of Mt. Rainier from our apartment (will be gone once the new construction is complete) - Bus stop is close, and the streetcar is a few blocks away - Responsive maintenance team Cons: - AirBnB's in the building which opens the door for safety issues. - Not very secure, key fob not needed to access the floors once inside the building. Anyone parking in the retail/public lot can easily piggy-back in to the building and access residential floors. An incident on the rooftop prompted a community meeting, but nothing was communicated out to residents who could not attend. - While the building is non-smoking there is a regular smell of pot and cigarette smoke from within the building, rooftop, resident patios, and from people standing outside. Many times the hallway reeked of pot as did our apartment interior. It took several emails to the office to have this issue acknowledged, however, it still continued. It became pointless to continue contacting the office about this as it obviously wasn't going away. - Dated common area interiors - hard to believe this place isn't even 10 years old. It needs a refresh to compete in this market, especially if they want to charge what they do for rent. Fresh coat of bright paint, brighter lights in the hallways along with nicer carpeting would be a good start to give it a more "clean" and modern appearance. Lobby area could be brightened up (paint, new furniture) to make it feel more welcoming. We never saw the windows or building exterior being cleaned. Hallway carpeting isn't vacuumed/cleaned regularly so debris and stains lingered; never saw any interior paint touch-ups on the many dinged and dirty walls. - Leasing office and team felt very non-existent, uninvolved with the community, and unresponsive. They failed to respond to messages sent through Active Building. They're separated from the main entry so there's no tenant interaction as you come and go, and having the parcel pick-up lockers (while convenient) seemed to lessen their involvement with their community as well. - Gym - cardio equipment is pretty worn, broken equipment will sit with no communication on when or if it will be repaired, Wi-Fi is hit or miss, treadmill TV's didn't work and those on the ellipticals usually didn't have cable. The gym itself could use a thorough scrub down and refresh. Users rarely wipe down equipment after use. - Apartment got very hot in the Summer. - Fire alarms were often triggered. - Elevators were extremely slow. - Neighbors unable to break down boxes, properly dispose of trash (some left garbage bags outside their door for days), or clean up after their dogs in the elevators and stairwells. Many aren't considerate in regards that they are sharing the space with others (dogs freely running in the halls, loud behavior on patios all hours of the night/morning, etc.) - If your neighbor above is a heavy walker, you will hear it. We could plainly hear our upstairs neighbors pacing around at all hours, sometimes it sounded like they were moving furniture at 2am. We understand people work different hours so we did ask them to be a bit more mindful overnight, but it was useless. Insulation definitely needs improved, especially now that they're putting down laminate flooring. - Can often hear music from the sports bar on the main level if you live on that end. - External noise warning - there is a fire station on S. Jackson at MLK Jr Way and it is called out multiple times throughout the day and night so most of their calls bring them down past the building. Outside noise is part of "city" living so an FYI for light sleepers. read more

Our family lived at Pratt Park for just about 2 months (while relocating from LA to our new Seattle home) and considered corporate housing there to be a great experience. Everybody in the office downstairs was always so friendly and helpful, offering us cookies, dog treats and coffee along with answers to our millions of questions. Our 2BR/2BA apartment was well appointed, in the Seattle heat of summer (which nobody warned us about ahead of time) we were comfortably air-conditioned. Our little girls loved their big girl beds and running around the carpeted, fully furnished apartment. Our dog loved hanging out under the beds. Everybody loved the great park in the back yard (including water spouting equipment, swings, slides, jungle gyms, even a log rolling exercise!) dog and kids alike. The park was a lovely setting for observing community gatherings such as early morning tai chi and gardening, as well as basketball. The adjacent art school has a glass blowing studio with windows all along the walls to watch the fascinating process. There are tons of things I miss about the neighborhood: the Buddhist church across the street, bargains from the Franz Bakery store (where they even sell milk and condiments!), The Cheeky Cafe, and the freshest tofu ever (for just $1 a block!) at Northwest Tofu, and oh my favorite - Lam's Produce!! (it was a hike to get there, but so well worth it we never had to bother with the high prices at Uwajimaya's). I was out walking the dog in the dark every day early in the morning and at night, and never felt at risk. read more

I moved here in June 2012. Each renewal brings rent hikes, but that's Seattle - the land of highly paid high techies who just keep pouring in. There are lower rents on, say, Beacon Hill, but my commute here is seven minutes by car or 23 minutes on foot. My living room with its floor-to-ceiling windows and big glass door opens on a little balcony, perfect size for my dog, that overlooks Pratt Park, four square blocks of grass, trees, picnic tables, a nice playground, and a covered outdoor basketball court which also gives pot smokers a place out of the rain. This place is soundproof. I have never had complaints about making too much racket and I've never had reason to complain. Aside from the high concentration of gun-totin' villains (the area around 23rd and Jackson has the highest concentration of felons in the state) and the sex offenders housed nearby, it's a pretty safe neighborhood, but I wouldn't walk far after dark without my dog. My neighbors on the first floor heard gunfire right outside their door, there was a murder on the street a block away, and a dead body in the basketball court within the past couple years. A security guard up on 23rd killed an armed bad guy. Good barbecue just across the park at R & L. Four blocks to the public library or a dog-friendly Walgreens. Here's a plus! This place, built on the site of the old Wonder Bread bakery, is haunted. The maintenance manager has been visited (and critiqued) by the man who took care of the building 'way back in the day. I live on the top floor and I often hear people and large animals running across the roof, and there is no access up there today. A lot of people have stories. The building and parking garage are "secure", but people sneak in. There are car prowls and bike thefts once in a while. Anyway, it's a very good place to live. I like it. All the employees are very friendly and caring and do their jobs well. Maintenance requests are handled immediately and cheerfully. The ladies in the office make me feel welcome every day when I bring my dog to the office for a paw in the treat jar. Bring your dogs and move in! read more

Leasing office staff are not responsive to questions or requests once lease is signed, even after numerous messages. But the main frustration with this property occurred when they let my partner and I know that our dog was on the restricted breed list after 2 weeks of living there. They told us that we violated the lease agreement and had to move out despite the fact that we disclosed the breed both on the application and the pet agreement. To top it all off, they gave our assigned parking spot in the garage to a new tenant before we moved out. read more

I'm writing this review today because I'm fed up with the service at this apartment. I agree with most of what the previous reviewers have written about in terms of upping the rent (I would understand if we were in a better neighborhood, but this is the CD--10% hike every year, seriously?), but my major gripe is with the helpfulness of the staff at Legacy. I will give you two examples: 1) One of the tiles in the floor cracked, so I put in a service order to get it fixed. Guess how long it took to make the repair. SIX MONTHS! I understand that it takes time to order the materials, but there is no excuse for a repair to take that long, especially since I checked with the office repeatedly about it. 2) My girlfriend was expecting a package from a friend over the holidays. Within the past two weeks, she checked with the office 3 times, and each time they said that no packages arrived. So my girlfriend notifies her friend that she hasn't received anything yet. Her friend checks with the post office, and she's almost in tears because there is no insurance on the postage, and she's afraid that the gift was lost in transit. Well, I go down to the office today and look in the back room for myself, and the package is there. WTF! This has happened to us multiple times, so if you do decide to move to Legacy, here is a tip: go to the backroom and check for yourself because some of the staff don't check carefully. There were a few employees back in the day who were very helpful and friendly, but they seemed overworked and rushed. I remember one employee in particular who I often saw working in the office past 9pm. Though they wanted to help me, I got the sense that their hands were tied because they were either too busy or they were not the right person to resolve the issue. When they passed the work to the correct person, I think it was neglected. In general, I get the feeling that some of the people in the office are extremely lazy and dump the work on others. The amenities and the units themselves are pretty nice (the reason I'm giving two stars instead of one), but for the price of rent, I expect less headaches from the people who are employed to help the tenants. Therefore, I'm moving out when my lease is up in July. If I get charged up the yin yang the way that other reviewers have mentioned, you can be sure that I'll update my review because I'm a meticulously clean person and I will leave this place in excellent condition. read more

I was going to be in town for just three days to look at apartments from out of state and made 3 attempts to schedule appointments with them with no return calls or emails. So I chose to show up and try to have an on the spot tour. The leasing agent (female) gave me pertentious attitude right from the beginning ad though this was the Four Seasons. She gave me a half laugh when I asked if I could see some apts with a "oh, you need an appointment, we are far too busy." After explaining I made three attempts with no return, she just kept looking at her walk saying, yeah we just don't have time. Then started listing the monthly price as though I was in Pretty Woman and she was trying to tells the dress is "really expensive" and probably out of my price range any way. Long story short, in the end I'm glad I didn't see the apt because I would hate to have a year lease with a group that treats their residents like this. If you're looking at apts, I'd go else where. Also, the location is not ideal, there isn't anything around but a liquor store on the corner. read more

Legacy has a good location relative to the city, the price is in the right range and they allow dogs. The apartments look nice when you move in. The european style windows are fun and keep the place pretty well lit. The roof has a good view of downtown. On new years you can see all sorts of fireworks everywhere. The maintenance staff is amazing. We'd read all the negative reviews, but getting a place in the city is hard enough and we were pretty much content to get cornered into Legacy. I lived here for 9mo with my wife and my dog. I would take him running every morning on a route up Jackson to Frink park, every evening I'd walk him around a few blocks. When you google "seattle central district" the third auto-complete option is "shooting", after "news" and "map". In the 9 months we were living there at least 3 people were shot within a 4 block radius. I don't know that any of them were fatal - and most of them were the type of story where everyone knew everyone involved; they weren't muggings or anything, just buddies getting their gun on. Although The Central District seems to be up-and-coming, the particular area that legacy is in (right next to the International District) doesn't seem to be included. While we were living at Legacy we paid the fee for the dog, the fee for the parking, the fee for the storage - and absurdly high [water/utility] bills. The bills are not managed by any actual utility, but by some sort of odd Legacy-hired corporate entity that can only provide you bills via snail mail, and if you insist on paying with a credit card there's a $10 fee or so, because you have to pay through western union. This is the only place I've ever lived that regularly lost my mail. Packages periodically disappear. Despite paying all the lovely fees regularly for storage - there came a time when I went to throw something into my lovely little closet - 2 doors down from my apartment no less (how convenient!) That I found the lock cut. I had loads of stuff in there. Most of the valuables were not obvious, and fortunately we didn't lose anything. But it wasn't just the lock on my storage unit that was cut - but the lock on every storage unit in the building. Many people lost bikes, several people lost jewelry - etc. It took a key to get into the storage areas, and a padlock to open a particular unit. The padlocks were cut - but the outer doors were not damaged. Someone who had the key cut all the locks. When we told management that our unit had been broken into I remember the response being something like: "..we recommend that you don't store anything valuable in those units." Apparently their advice is you just pay the $$/mo to store trash. How did they get in the building? - the building is locked! I'll tell you what. The building is almost never locked. People let people in, and periodically one of the outside doors will just not close itself proper for a few weeks, people come by and break the handles - etc etc. On new years, people just come in from the street to watch fireworks from the roof. I remember some folks walking through the hall on their way back down from the roof - remarking that people left belongings outside their doors (shoes, welcome matts, decorations.. ) and that they should steal them just because the people were so "stupid" as to leave them out. Also (although I've never heard of it) this building apparently celebrates a special holiday. As far as I was informed: in Seattle it's mandatory that all buildings get their fire alarms certified every year. I've been in a lot of buildings in Seattle, and never seen any of them shut down for a day for 'fire alarm testing' or what-have-you, but this place: yes. One day a year, they set the fire alarms off every 3 minutes for at least 12hrs. It's unbelievably awesome. On Christmas eve we had a special treat when our neighbor apparently had a drug addled hallucination and ran up and down the hallway at 2:00AM screaming that the building was on fire. That is until our single female neighbor stuck her head out the door to see what was going on - and he ran into her apartment still screaming. Eventually he just got over it pulled the fire alarm, and hopefully went to jail. Want to use the movie room? there's a fee for that. - the party room? there's a fee for that. The list goes on, but I'm out of room. So why am I taking my precious time to catalog all the wonderful things I remember about Legacy? We knew what we were getting into, because we'd come to yelp too. When it came time to move out we didn't expect our deposit returned. Several weeks after we moved out we'd heard nothing and thought that was the end of it. Now (one year later) a collections agency fell out of the sky and notified us we need to pay nearly $400 for 'cleaning' our studio apt. When asked for clarification the response was: "Your appliances were dirty". read more

This place SUCKS!!! Sucks all around and then sucks your money! After being a loyal tenant for the past 18-months, I just went in to turn in my keys and parking pass. The manager asked if I gave a reason why I was moving out. I told her that I bought a house. She started to explain the deposit I "might" get back. I paid a $500 deposit when I moved in and she said, "we'll take the amount of your last water bill out, plus we do a standard carpet clean ($50) so we like to tell folks that you may or may not see anything back from your deposit." WTF?!? I said, "we cleaned the carpets and they are totally clean and what about the $500 I paid?" "Well, $300 of it is non-refundable and like I said, we have to clean the carpets and take your water bill out so you may or may not see a refund. Folks usually see about $50 back." If you're considering moving here, think again. That is just one annoyance from this place but this biggest message I will tell you...they will suck your money in more ways than just rent!!! read more

This apartment has features that are ok but they are just distractions from not so obvious negatives about the apartment and surrounding area. For starters, there is nothing in the area besides cheap bahn mi and even that is sketchy at best. I don't understand how they charge so much, nickle and dime everything and how someone could choose to live there more than a year. The roof is nice, you can see every place you'd like to go, but have to drive to. The movie theater is a cool idea, except you have to rent it out a month in advance. The actual apartments are new but the lay outs are horrible, we had a useless hallway bigger than our living room. We just moved to Queen Anne and we pay less for more space, a nicer apartment, and we are finally near the action. There is a rotating staff that doesn't seem to have the same information so you never get useful information. There is a 300 dollar non refundable "administration fee" when you sign your lease and a 200 dollar "refundable" deposit. The 85+ dollar utilities per month are taken out of the 200 dollar deposit no matter what so its automatically kicked down to 120 or less right off the bat. These are shady people that don't have a nice enough place to rip people off. Everyone leaves after their 1 year jail term because there is no reason to stay. read more

I have lived here since April 2015, and absolutely love this complex. The amenities are lovely, units are beautifully updated and designed but the best part about this complex are the people in the leasing office. Jamila and her staff go above and beyond to make sure that needs are taken care of, and the maintenance staff is friendly and efficient. My microwave broke at one point and it was replaced within 3 days and there was no trace of the maintenance staff being in my apartment. Wynter even checked the tire size on my car for me when I took the bus to work so I could order snow chains while I was at work to prepare for my holiday travel. I like this place, great amenities, near to downtown and amazing view from the roof top, it is kind of expensive but I like that we have security and the personal is very friendly, the only thing that could make it perfect is make this place free of pets, some floors smell bad because of this. read more

We have lived here for 6 month now, and I love it here. We walked passed the building on a trip to Seattle and just walked in and got an amazing tour, including the P-patches on the roof and amazing panoramic view of Seattle (there is no better view of the city around). When we drove across the country to move to Seattle, Sarah from the leasing office (who is amazing!), stayed late to ensure that we got settled into our new home. Everything has been great since then: when repairs are needed, they're done that day or the next, parking is fantastic, and even when the office is busy, they always take the time to smile, chat with me, and help me. The neighborhood is great: close enough to Capitol Hill and Downtown, but in a quieter area. I walk to school easily, and there are tons of buses to get around on. There is a great atmosphere in the building, lots of great dog owners to meet, and really great apartments with modern style and have high ceilings. Since the place is dog friendly, they do charge you extra for hypoallergenic cleaning when you move out (they told us this upfront, which we were fine with), and like everywhere in Seattle: the water bills are high, just like they would be in any apartment. Overall, we are happy each day to be living here, find its convenience and great staff amazing, and nothing makes you feel better after a long day than seeing a sunset over the cityscape with Mt. Rainier the other direction, while drinking a glass of wine on the huge rooftop terrace. read more

Just moved out of this place. :-( I LOVED my apartment there but it was time to move out of the city. I have hardly any complaints at all. The staff was always great, the building is always clean and smells fresh. The amenities are great. My only complaint was my neighbor constantly complaining about noise all around him. I never heard my neighbors and I was rigt in the middle of the building with people all around me. The only noise I heard was outside but that comes with living on a busy street. Overall- I will miss this place. read more

Legacy at Pratt park is a scam in a terrible neighborhood. The apartments themselves are well designed and maintained fairly well. Admittedly, we knew the neighborhood was "up and coming" when we moved in, the problem is the neighborhood stalled. Despite the awesome Cheeky Cafe and the Immortal Dog there is very little in the area. And as far as walking, the reports of shootings in the neighborhood are frequent and among the most disturbing in Seattle. There is no reason to pay this rent in a terrible neighborhood, for the same prices central Cap Hill is feasible. Parking is also a rip charging a lot more than Welch Plaza up the street when street parking is readily available if you are okay with car prowling and all this knowing the garage never went over 60% full. Water and sewage are higher than we have experienced in Seattle by $15-$20, and our renters insurance was $70 more than our new Seattle neighborhood, the difference likely due to crime. My biggest complaint with Pratt Park didn't occur until move out. We had paid a pet deposit of $300 dollars which we were told multiple times went to cover replacement of carpets and pad because it was "unhygienic to rerent after a pet lived in a place, mess or not." We said fine. On move out, they are now charging us for carpet cleaning, and saying the pet deposit was a fee that was not to go towards move out cleaning, despite an immaculate cleaning job (we have never had to pay and actually gotten money back at all previous apartments). They are insisting on $160 in cleaning and won't explain why. The real kicker is they broke landlord leasing law in Washington state by not providing a written copy of leasing documents so we can't even confirm. DO NOT RENT HERE. We will be pursuing actions against the license of the managers in the leasing office and/ or Legacy Apartments, and we are debating small claims court. These greedy practices thrive on people not having the time to battle them. read more

My girlfriend and I have been living here for about a month now. The management apparently has had some turnover issues but they have been very friendly to us and helpful to our requests, though we haven't had anything terribly complicated: pick up packages, get a storage unit, fix some caulking in the tub. When we went to rent, we walked in with no notice or appointment and got a tour then and there. The process to get the apartment was a bit onerous, requiring a background check that took an excessively long two days. (We were in from out of town and had to fly home and just barely got the lease signed before we left.) The building is quiet but very friendly. We live directly beneath the rooftop terrace and near a door and the only time we've ever had noise that bothered us was on New Year's Eve, but that's to be expected. Generally it's very quiet but when you do run into people they are as friendly as one can expect; smiling and saying "hello", etc. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy. There was an armed robbery of a grocery store last week, so there's that. But the area is getting better and generally I'm not afraid to go out at night to walk the dog in the gorgeous park next door. And there is a Central District community that you can join to become more connected to those who live around you. The location is otherwise fantastic. It takes me 30 minutes to walk to work in the downtown Seattle area. If I took a bus, there is a stop across the street and one block west of the building that brings you directly to the 3rd avenue commute corridor. The rent is a bit more than we expected for Central District. But the parking and utilities are cheaper than most of the other places we looked for comparable units in other areas of town that were equally close to downtown Seattle. So this place is worth a look if you want something that isn't Belltown and can't afford Capital Hill or First Hill or whatever. read more

While our experience as tenants here was overall really wonderful - the shenanigans when we decided to move out were terrible. We ended up owing them money when we'd taken really good care of the apartment and lived there for 2+ years, checking and double-checking on what we were and were not allowed to do. I know the original management team (the ones who convinced us to move in!) would not have treated us the way we were treated. Water under the bridge and lesson learned, but proceed with caution. You will likely owe money when you move out and be hassled by management during the process. read more

My husband and I lived here for a year and a half. I have nothing but good to say about the place. First, location was very convenient - close to I-5 and i90, and rent was affordable. Also, Jamila and staff are amazing!!! They are super helpful and friendly. My husband and I were sad to move because they were like friends to us. read more

New apts, with terrible staff. Very fake, very inefficient. Will not help you, will try to screw you any way they can. The best apt complex is one that you really don't have to think about or worry about...WORRY ABOUT THIS PLACE. Secure Parking garage...broken. Front door entrance...can't buzz people in. Staff really only can sign for packages(if they really put their mind to it)...if you count on them for anything else: walkthroughs, follow ups on renewal options, overall help...don't waste your time. One of the worst staff's I've ever had to work with as a rentor. There are lots of places in Seattle, Pratt is in a bad neighborhood combined with terrible management. Look else where!! read more
