Knowing this barber shop recently moved to the new location at 10090 Adams near Brookhurst (next to the Stater Brothers), I gave them a try and found their work to be as stellar as ever. I have come here periodically over the years, finding that their hair cutting, ear waxing and nose waxing skills are one that leave me looking clean for any environment. I have chosen to come here because their service is different than others, because it is consistent. Both Lilian and Vivian come from a long line of barbers, and have an eye for varying cuts that I try to learn about every time I'm here. They understand what is relevant, popular and possible with the type of hair that you have. I do think there is a lot that can be done, depending on the length, and they kindly advise on what you can drum up and what they can drum up. This place!!! What can I say about Lilian and Vivian (the owners). They are MASTER barbers and extremely talented in what they do. They have an eye for the best type of cut if you need help deciding, or will listen to what you desire if you know what you want. This is the ONLY place I will go to have my hair cut and styled. Lilian is simply awesome in the way she does hairstyling. She is the ONLY person who has ever figured out to cut my cowlick correctly. Lilian takes tremendous pride in her work and really cares about making you look your best. If you explain about the look that you are trying to achieve, she gets it, and will exceed your expectations. Well, she exceeded mine, anyway. By the way, I wear a beard, and I got the best beard trim ever from Lilian. Incidentally, Vivian, her sister, who also works here, is fantastic also. It's been a long time since I've been this amped about a haircut! I've been going to that "Super" place just because it's convenient and more often than not, I'd walk out thinking, "well, it'll grow back". I had tried another quality barber shop in Long Beach, but being the only guy in there not all tatt'd up wasn't the most reassuring feeling in the world. I finally got down to Legacy yesterday and it was one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten. Lilian's attention to detail and careful manner (no rush here) were a refreshing change. And I loved the straight razor shave to clean up the edges and neck. As the other reviewers mentioned, there's a huge flat screen TV to watch while you wait and there's a sports bar next door, too! Warning, it's $40 cash and I regret leaving a $5 tip. Thats the most expensive haircut I've ever paid for. Even the place across the street will wash your hair, give you a scalp massage and shoulder rub for cheaper. Meh, Ever since my Dad took me to old Marine barbers I've always picked my own haircut and most people do a decent job. This lady at this place recommended a haircut to me which my wife had already given me for free. I asked for the normal haircut I always ask for and got the worst choppy nonsense haircut in my life. They spent a long time giving other customer all kinds extra perks but she just played edward scissor hands with my hair. Great place. I used to go there and get a straight razor head shave on a weekly basis when I was in the marine corps. They do face shaves too. I've had them clean up my goatee before a job interview. Can't stomach the thought of paying "salon" prices for a haircut and sick of the drive-thru stylings of the SuperSams and FantasticCuts of the world? Then make a pit stop at Legacy. The short story is - Legacy rocks!! Tucked in the back corner of a non-descript crappy strip mall, flanked by piercing and tattoo parlors, Legacy is a hidden gem in Huntington. All of the staff is amazing, thoughtful and attentive. Though I didn't get Lilian, like most of the reviewers, Vivian did a great job taking care of me. This is an old time barber-shop, minus the grumpy old dudes, and sub in 3 amazing women. (From the looks of the other reviews she's grown from being just a solo spot. Not surprising at all.) Vivian did an awesome job, she paid attention to what I wanted and made recommendation for things that I wouldn't have known to ask for... all for about $25. Plus they do the eyebrow/ear waxing and straight razor shaves, with the warm shaving lather, and the whole thing. If you haven't tried a razor shave . . . fix that, trust me you'll get addicted. So what's not to love? Okay, the only reason that I'm not giving Legacy 5-stars is their brutal hours of operation. Trying to get in for a haircut between 10am and 5pm, is simply a Herculean task. I really can't justify leaving work early, they're closed on Sundays, and Saturdays are simply a zoo. When I arrived at the Shoppe (admittedly 5 minutes late), I was confronted by the owner and one other employee who informed me they wouldn't be able to cut my hair because they decided to close the shoppe early. They didn't even have the common decency to give me a phone call to inform me they randomly decided to close the shoppe early. After this horrendous customer service experience, I chose not to reschedule and give my hard-earned money to this business. It's not Lillian's fault I have bad hair. She had nothing to do with my genetics, nor is she responsible for me being ugly. But I just got sheared. Clippers all the way around. My conservative business haircut is long gone. It's ruined my day. Other than that I love everything about this place. She's beautiful. Her mom was there and she's a doll. The place is immaculate and you forget you're in a strip mall. Lillian knows everyone and people wait for as long as they need to in order to get a haircut. But they all seemed to have good hair. I only had to wait 45 minutes after my appointment time (I'm slowly falling into the zen of Southern California and not letting little unimportant things like time get in my way of being balanced) and I watched TV with her mom to kill the time. She's really soft and gentle with you, practically whispers when she talks. Clips eyebrows and waxes your nose and ears, the wax being a new feature for me. Good: Growing up with friends moms working at barber shops, I have an appreciation for a quality cut (shh... I also have an appreciation for some of the local places that'll cut your hair for under $15). Vivian is great barber that takes her time, and has great attention to detail. I love that they clean up with a straight razor. Coming here consistently will get you a sharp look. Bad: They have steady business, so do them a favor and make an appointment. $30 for haircut is really hard to stomach unless you are used to pomp and circumstance. This place is cash only, so it always makes paying a little odd... Ugly: Paying IS odd, especially when tipping. The last time I was there I paid with a $50 and was given a $20 as change. I asked if they had smaller bills (for tip) and they only gave me $10 back. It took me an awkward moment to realize that she was tipping herself $10... I asked about the $20, but she made it clear by recounting that she understood she was only giving me $10. She even asked if we were square. Look, I was a walk in, I know... (that waited 45 minutes, btw), but I didn't think it was right to not let your patrons tip you. Whatever. Too bad, because it has kind of soured me on the place. I hear there are other barber shops that at least hand you a beer while you get a cut... maybe it is time to find another local shop. read more

so, I'll be 100% honest. I feel like a bastard, because I've been coming and seeing these beautiful ladies for months now, but haven't bothered to write a review; which Lillian and Vivian are completely undeserving of. I'm a picky guy, from where I go to the doctor, to the optometrist to where I get my hair cut. I always take great care in paying attention to all the small details of where I go. I come here like clockwork, and I always schedule an appointment to go here. As long as Vivian and Lillian own/work at this shop I won't go anywhere else. They are very polite and kind, and take great care of their customers. Last weekend they even had an event for father's day where they had beverages, snacks and additional services like facials. I'm not sure how I would exactly categorize this place, because I almost want to call it a salon for men. It's definitely a barbershop in the fact that the clientèle consists primarily of men. What's nice though is the fact it's all women cutting the hair, and the shop is significantly nicer and cleaner than any standard barber shop. At the same time though, you won't feel awkward as you would if you were getting your haircut at a salon for women. read more

When I need a good trim I USE TO come here. I got a great haircut here a few years back, but they've lost their inspiration.I can't speak for Vivian's skills, because she never cut my hair. She turned me over to her sister upon being seated. Here was my most recent experience - I felt a vibe of unfriendliness as they gossiped in Arabic or whatever as I was being seated. I tried to explain to Lilian how I wanted my hair trimmed (trimmed more on the edgy side) and even brought pictures, she just set the pictures down without even glancing at them and went straight for the clippers and proceeded to whack off all my hair. By the time she was done I looked like a rooster! (Seriously, I wish took pictures). I had her try to fix it and she eventually gave up. I left so pissed because the hair cut isn't even remotely close to what I had in mind. I ended up cutting my own hair, and now I'll be wearing a hat until winter. Here's why this place gets all the five stars.. They give high quality generic haircuts. The cuts are always too short and archaic, like going to your lame grandpa's stylist. If you're into the clean cut look your great grandmother from the south would approve of, you'll be a regular. I suppose this advice is relevant to getting a haircut anywhere- never book your appointment at the beginning of the day and avoid the end of the day at all cost, because by that time they just want to get your hair cut and go home. read more

I have been going to Legacy for the past 11 months. I have never been the type to stick with a barber or stylist for long, because I just didn't care what the result of my cut was. Until now. I was gifted a shave by my best man the day before my wedding and was thrilled by the entire process with Lilian and Vivian. I have gone back for all my haircuts since then. Without fail, my experience has been positive. These two professionals are third generation barbers trained in an exceptional manner. They understand the process of barbering from its classic roots and infuse modern elements to make the experience well-rounded and highly satisfactory. The impact they have on their clients and surrounding community is amazing. Evidenced by local business owners stopping by just to check in and make sure they are well. I've even had occasion to be in the shop when out of state (former HB residents) come in because they haven't been able to find better quality and service in their new state. Any negative comments below or above are most likely impatient or rude patrons who get the kind of feedback they give. This place is hoppin' if you don't have an appt, expect to wait because once you're in the chair, Vivian and Lilian make you feel like you're the only client they have. P.S.
