Patrick and Laurie are absolutely wonderful to work with. My wife and I had a mess in our back yard and had no clue where to start. Neither of us have a green thumb and we weren't sure what could go where. Laurie worked with us to set up a time for Patrick to come out and look at the situation. He quickly developed an idea and explained it in easy to understand terms. We never felt like he was pushing us to put in plants or irrigate just to add to the estimate. After he wrote up a proposal, we were astounded be the reasonableness of the estimate. We put down our deposit and got ourselves on the schedule. I recommend everything about Legacy Landscape! I was looking to refresh my front/back yard and was tired of sweeping bark from the sidewalk and needed a way to keep it from sliding off the slopes. I was thinking cement curbing around the edges. I'd contacted a few other places from the recommendations on Nextdoor and never heard back from anyone. In fact, one I reached and he said he'd call back and didn't. I was looking for someone local and came across Legacy and sent a message via Facebook. I was surprised to have a reply within 30 minutes (this was a weekend) saying he'd have the office contact me Monday. I talked with Laurie on Monday and she scheduled a estimate. Patrick came out and suggested adding river rock, flowing it into the landscape and I loved the idea! The weight of the rock would hold the bark back...wish I'd thought of it! I also wanted the bark refreshed, a cement walkway torn out and widened with DG, a leaning fence post repaired and the start of where a fountain will go. Laurie scheduled the work and Patrick showed up with his team to get them started and it was done in a day. Charles, Bryan and crew were friendly, professional & very hard working! (reasonable prices too!) They all did a great job and I can't thank them enough for the updates to my yard. What a change the river rock made and I feel like I live in my own park now. My husband and I had to cancel an unsatisfactory landscaper and feared that - because it was summer - our flag stone project for our front yard courtyard might not be finished for a couple of months, but such was not the case! In rode Patrick Smith on his white horse, and literally, saved the day! There was something about Patrick that was impressive from the get-go. He was undeniably open and congenial, and my intuition told me that I could trust him. He immediately began to measure our space and rattle off the various ways that the flag stone could be installed. He quoted me a price that I knew was reasonable because I'd done my homework beforehand. I felt relief that my search for a landscaper was over and the icing on the cake was this: At first Patrick told me that he'd schedule our small project in the next week or two but, surprisingly, he ended up calling me that same afternoon and said he'd be over the next morning with his crew. Papa Oscar, his grandson, OJ, and Bryan were super nice and arrived right on time. I, immediately , I could tell that they were very experienced with laying flag stone. And...my husband and I love the way that Papa arranged the flag stone in such a natural way following the curves of the courtyard. There was one unexpected occurrence, however. By the time we got home that day, the men were gone, the flag stone was in place but gator dust was left on the face of some of the flag stone and it had already dried. To remove it, my husband followed Patrick's instructions by using a soft bristle brush/wire brush with a little water, but the gator dust would hardly budge. Next, my husband used a chisel in some areas but after much elbow grease with little reward, we called the manufacturer. They suggested using a pressure washer and solvent. But...before going to that trouble, my husband tried one more thing; he poured boiling water on the gator dust and then used a brush and straight edge to scrape it off, and that did the trick! Obviously, the secret is to remove that gator dust before it has a chance to harden. Bottom line: Legacy Landscape is awesome, and we would use them again in a New York minute! read more

I obtained seven bids for my backyard landscaping on new construction at McKinley Village. Charles Shipman's quote was the best and originally I was concerned that the quality might suffer, but this was far from the case. Everything turned out amazing and it was done very fast even with some rain. Mr. Shipman's team was professional from the estimate to completion. He was able to make both simple and relatively major changes even while the project was underway. He handled water, gas and electrical excellently. I'm personally not very creative, but Charles was able to fill in my creative blind spots and even deal with my HOA. We are all so happy with they way Patrick and his crew completed our backyard project, We had some concerns entering into this process, a new pool with almost 3000 sq ft of stamped concrete to maneuver an excavator around, a custom gate the workers and equipment would be passing through daily that we did not want damaged, and the piece of mind we needed when hiring someone to come into your home and do this much work. Where do I even begin?!?!? These people are amazing not only at what they do but also at customer service! We hired Legacy Landscapers, based on word of mouth recommendations, and was more than pleased with the final product and every step of the way including with my non-stop "will this plant grow okay up here?". We moved here from San Diego. This was our first yard. I'm was super nit-picky about what I wanted and had a whole color scheme going through my mind. I love hydrangeas. I WANTED hydrangeas. Without laughing at me Patrick, the owner, reminded me it gets blazing HOT up here and that they most likely won't do well. With his expertise he determined the area of our yard that would give them the best shot at surviving, and needless to say they have done very well. I may not have gotten the hydrangeas placed in the corners of my backyard but we did get some out front on the side. Legacy Landscapers is def.'ly on the pricier end in comparison to others companies. But you know the saying 'you get what you pay for'. With all the heavy rains last year we had a flooding issue at our home and property. We called Patrick and he came out and assessed the issue and informed us that he could resolve the problem by installing a drainage system. LLC installed the system in early summer (after we dried out). Of course, we had to wait for the rains to test the system, well yesterday and today was a real test with the torrential rains we've had - the system did its job, no flooding, home and garage dry. I contacted Patrick Summer of 2015. Hurrah to Legacy Landscape and Patrick for a job well done! My back yard had been a bunch of "nothing" since I moved in three years previously - a small lawn, two small bushes, and a lot of dirt, some of it sloping down to a wooden fence. I'd always wanted to level the yard and have it landscaped, and the prospect of El Nino was a good motivator. Knowing that I couldn't put dirt against a wooden fence, it was determined that I needed to put in a cement block retaining wall with the fence above that. Sounded simple enough to me...except that it wasn't. Patrick spent hours talking to the City (a permit was required) and finding a willing contractor/engineer to draw up the necessary plans for approval. After several months (literally!) everything came together, thanks to Patrick's "we won't give up" mantra. Then the work began, which was complicated by the fact that a major utility line ran right through the area where digging was needed for the wall. Since the utility couldn't be precise about where the line actually was buried, the crew had to dig a long trench BY HAND, which wasn't easy in the warm days. But they persevered and got the job done. The wall went up, the wooden fence went up, a sidewalk was added on one side of the house where there wasn't one before, and the ground was all leveled and ready for landscaping. I gave Patrick permission to pick out all the plants and arrange them, and he did a great job - a few small "mounds" here and there to be more scenic, some big rocks for contrast, a variety of plants spread throughout, and beautiful rocks for a ground cover. Throughout the whole project, Patrick kept me informed, his crew was amazing to work with, and our requests for changes were willingly accommodated. I can't say enough for these professionals, and their knowledge and work ethic. I became friends with Patrick as a person also, and he is someone that will do whatever it takes to do things right. Thanks to Legacy Landscaping I have been enjoying my back yard for the past two years...love it! Great job guys! read more
