Honestly, I think it's my fault for not trying their ice cream. It looked appealing, smelled appealing, and probably tasted amazing. But of course I had to get bubble tea. There is a self service kiosk if you do not want to talk to people. Either way, service is incredibly fast. Tea didn't taste anything special to me, and I think I am just being a negative nancy, but it was too sweet for my appeal. It was not worth the price. The milk did not taste exactly fresh as well, and had an odd aftertase. I want to come here again, because I am sure there is so much better than the experience I had only today. read more

The "ice cream roll" is very similar to Chinese frozen yogurt. It was my first time trying it, and it was better than I expected. Perfect Pair: Judging from the picture, I thought it would be very hard, but the bottom was actually quite smooth and creamy, similar to regular ice cream. The sweet and sour mango flavor and fruity aroma were the dominant notes, perfectly complemented by strawberry pieces. The mango pieces as toppings were quite sweet, but the strawberries weren't very fresh. Avocado: The avocado flavor was naturally clear and not too sweet. Popular for its rolled ice cream. They mix in the fillings with the cream and then spread it as a thin layer on a cold sheet and then roll it up. It tastes like ice cream but the presentation is nicer and it's a lot more work for the employees. They have a lot of fun flavor combinations. We have tried a couple of different ones and had the dragon fruit and mango on our most recent visit. I remember there used to be a line down the block during the Covid days. Now they've reopened the dining area and the line didn't look so bad since people can sit while they wait. This is one of our favorite stops for dessert whenever we're in the area. read more

Wow! This was our first time trying rolled ice cream! We stopped by a shop in Chinatown, it's right next to another rolled ice cream shop but we chose this one. Once inside you can order from a machine in the order or at the counter. There is a small bar to sit or several tabletop options. The menu is extensive including a variety of rolled ice cream choices, some with fresh fruit. The shop also has boba tea. The prices were more than $7 but the serving size was large, so we decided to split one. We chose the Oreo ice cream dessert. Once ordered, the employees had a cup of cream and Oreos and put on a frozen block. They chopped and spread the ice cream many times until it reached the perfect consistency. It only took about 2 minutes. Then when ready, they spread it thin and rolled it into lines and put in a cup. I expected regular ice cream but oh my, it was so rich and creamy! A much deeper rich flavor than regular ice cream. We're hooked! A must try and would recommend this shop. read more

Very cramped takeout spot, but I can see why everyone was in there! A ton of options for rolled ice cream. There is just one size for everything, so make sure you really want ice cream. The service was incredible. The system they had was amazing from the ordering to the prep in the back, to the rolling and topping. Everyone worked so harmoniously and efficiently. Stopped by here after dinner in Chinatown. They have a bunch different flavors and combinations and you can even make your own. Nice ambience and you can watch them make your ice cream as you can at most of places like this. Once you figure out what you want, you can order and pay and then pick it up at the end of the counter. You can change anything you want in your selected flavor combination as well. We ordered Starry Sky (dragon fruit and passion fruit) and two Strawberry Love (strawberry vanilla) without any of the toppings instead added mochi and gummy bears. They were a big hit. The ice creams were creamy and soft with excellent flavor. The store was very clean and the staff were very helpful and professional. The average price for an ice cream was around $8 which seems on par with other ice cream places. The kids really enjoyed their ice creams and if you are in the area and want some rolled ice cream, I would give this place a try. read more

Love this place!! They have a large variety of rolled ice cream flavors at a fraction of the cost (around $6-8). So affordable!! I got the Oreo rolled ice cream, and they completed my order within a few minutes! They are incredibly efficient and have a lot of chefs behind the see through counter, so you can watch them making your rolled ice cream in action! This spot was amazing!! We all moved back from Shanghai a couple years ago so naturally we had to meet at a Chinese spot and this one did not disappoint. We got soup dumplings, beef braised Taiwan noodles, pan fried dumplings, wood ear mushrooms, baozi and crab rangoons. We left nothing behind and even ordered more. Love that you can order at the kiosk and then sit down and wait for your number to be called. Highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area! read more

Came after dinner and it was the perfect sweet treat. They have plenty of flavors and you can mix up the toppings that are on it if you'd like. Waited a bit for the rolled ice cream, but because the employees are creating 2 at a time and it takes a bit to roll. They have tables around where you can sit and enjoy. This place was recommended by our waiter from lunch. He raved about the fresh fruit options. There's street parking outdoors, depending on the time of day (it gets crowded on Wentworth!). I have been here a few times since it opened and the quality has gone down. Back then, they would only use fresh fruit and cream, but now they barely add fruit and just use flavoring. It's not the worst though, and would satisfy if you're craving a cold sweet treat. read more

There were so many rolled ice cream places in Chinatown. My friends and I decided to go to this one on a whim. The three of us decided to share one to satisfy our sweet tooth. We got the Matcha Queen. I really liked it! It wasn't too sweet and was strong in green tea flavor. There were small strawberry bits mixed in the ice cream. It was around ~$7 or so. This place is often intimidatingly packed with folks in Chinatown looking for dessert, but I'm really glad we stopped here to get rolled ice cream because I've been curious abt trying rolled ice cream at this stretch of places along Wentworth that usually boast a crowd and many rolled ice cream flavors. There was a line but I grabbed a table while my friend waited to order and I felt the wait was very reasonable / felt pretty quick. We got one of the rolled ice cream flavors with dragon fruit, and my friend felt that there wasn't a very strong dragon fruit flavor. The flavor is mostly milky and creamy despite the fun, bright color of the ice cream. I personally don't mind that - I loved the milky flavors and would go again, but warning anyone who is looking for a strong dragon fruit flavor that they will likely be disappointed. I'd def go again when I'm in the area and in the mood for a light dessert. I also love the mochi that came on top - so good. read more

I was in need of an afternoon pick me up. We walked by Legend Tasty House and saw that they had boba tea so I decided to stop in because I figured I could order a coffee milk tea. What I didn't realize is that Legend Tasty House is more of a rolled ice cream joint (no pun intended haha) that just also happens to have boba tea and smoothies. The line was extremely long and I thought about leaving because I wasn't sure how long the wait would be, but I decided to stay. The line to place orders moved relatively fast, but it was waiting for orders that took the most time. I browsed the menu and saw they had a Coffee & Nutella Smoothie (D21). When I ordered it, I didn't realize that it was a "smoothie" (more like a milkshake). It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was very good! I got the caffeine fix that I was needing. They had upbeat pop music playing, but it was kind of loud. You can watch the employees make and roll the ice cream and it is a cool process. It took 15 minutes to get my smoothie. My drink was tasty, but I wouldn't wait that long again for one drink. Since it's so busy, it's hard to get a table. You can order online, so that may be the way to go if you're short on time. read more

Omg! This place is a hidden gem in the bustling Chinatown. The combinations of icecreams they have are great! We tried the rolled ice cream and it was very flavorful, came with amazing toppings and was too cute to eat. The service is pretty fast! The ambience is that of a typical icecream store with bright lighting and lots of seating. We tried the mango tango rolled icecream, flower world rolled icecream and Hello! Taro rolled icecream. The flower world rolled iceccream just blew my mind. The combination of dragonfruit and mango was so good, I never thought those flavors would work well together. The Mango tango was great too! The place had a lot of variety for ice cream so it was a great option to pick. This place also made their ice cream into rolls which is fun to watch them make and unique. The ice cream I got was called "Your Smile!" which I personally didn't enjoy and was disappointed because it looked delicious. It was family night and we went to Universoul Circus. Then afterward I wanted ice cream. My Love said I'm going to put you on to a spot and off we went to China town.. This placed was PACKED but they moved expeditiously to get our orders prepared. The wait was not long at all. I had never seen rolled ice cream and I had never heard of this place. This ice cream parlor has a Cold Stone Creamery vibes with it being soft serve. But other than that totally different than any other ice cream parlor I have visited. Enjoyed the rolled ice cream. Fascinating, how they put several scoops on a freeze plate, smoosh it around, and scrape it into a thin sheet. This process gets repeated several times as they work to get it to the desired thinness. Eventually, they scrape it , and as it gets scraped, it turns into a little ribbon and eventually they put about four ribbons in the cup. From there, they top it with the toppings and away you ago. It's probably a good five minute or so process, to build your ice cream. Clearly, it takes some skill to do so. I had the Taro (#14) , which had some whip cream and chocolate chips, and cookies. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The interesting thing is , this is different than regular ice cream. It's not overly sweet. So don't be expecting a lot of sugar or sweetness to it because you will not get that. I actually saw several young people have a few bites of their ice cream while I was waiting for them to make my groups, and then throw it in the garbage. I honestly think , it wasn't sweet enough for them. My daughter had the Thai rolled , which she enjoyed. I really didn't see what toppings she had, but the whole process is fascinating. Place was mobbed, but that's to be expected, it was celebration of the lunar new year. Which made Chinatown extremely busy and yet, it wasn't even parade day. There was a fair amount of waiting, but it was managed in a somewhat orderly fashion. Lots of choices. I definitely would go back, and do recommend it. read more

Located on Wentworth Avenue, this cozy ice cream shop normally has a long line of customers on hot days. They offer a variety of flavors including dragon fruit, avocado, green tea, or passion fruit. The menu shows colorful photos of different flavor combinations. This trendy shop offers an interesting live show of preparing your rolled ice cream. After spending the afternoon around Chinatown and seeing so many people walking around with these cups of rolled ice cream, we had to give it a try! Be prepared to stand waiting in line for awhile because each ice cream is custom made, but it's well worth it! They have 5 employees all working behind a device called an Anti Griddle (it's freezing cold, unlike a hot griddle, like you'd make pancakes on). They pour the cream onto the icy metal plate, smooth it out into a square, crush up your ingredients and then mix it all, spread it out, and then scrape the ice cream into rolled up coils. You get about 6 coils of rolled ice cream in a cup and then your toppings are added. I had the S'mores Galore and my boyfriend had the Chocolate Party. Mine came with chocolate and whipped cream and graham crackers and a toasted marshmallow on a skewer. His came with chocolate and M&M's and some other stuff. Cost was about $15.00 for both of our desserts. If you're coming to Chinatown, this is one very cool place to come for dessert. I think there are a few other similar places like this throughout Chinatown too. read more

Fun experience. I've seen the rolled ice cream on social media and have been wanting to give it a go. The line was super long but moved very quickly! They offer both ice cream and smoothies! When we politely asked about the missing item, two different employees rudely insisted we'd already received it, told us to go wait at the end of the long line again, and one of them actually snapped, "You're not getting it for free." Mistakes happen. What shouldn't happen is refusing to correct your own mistake, being rude to customers, and accusing them of trying to get something for free when they've already paid for it.

The ice cream is the highlight. It's creamy and rich, and it's got a really nice flavor, too. The hot fudge was less impressive, but that might be because I had already eaten a Ghirardelli sundae earlier in the day and their hot fudge just can't be beat. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere was kitschy and fun. It's a cool place.

This is similar to a Taiwanese Lu rou fan. It was slightly sweet with the savory. It gets kind of fatty/greasy after a while but once you add some chili and vinegar from the basket it's all good !!! Longanisa breakfast sandwich ($12)-- didn't add the hash brown but that was an option! Soft bread, fluffy egg, cheese and longanisa... again so simple but sooooo good! The Longanisa in this was like a meat patty vs the sausage in the breakfast plate. Same name but different enough I promise! Didn't feel like I got a duplicate or anything like the textures are different! For pastries... forgot the price-- Salmon danish: Weekend only! Wish we got more!! It was perfectly light and savory. Doesn't have that strong fishy smell and the flavor was so good. Smoked salmon, cream cheese, fish roe... how could it not be good!! Cheesecake: SOOOOOOO GOOD!!! Again, should've ordered more!! The crust was thin and crispy, with a large air cavity, making it very soft and fluffy. The salted egg yolk has just the right balance of sweetness and saltiness, and wasn't too cloying. Garlic Cheese Brioche Bun蒜香奶酪麵包: Perhaps its more Taiwanese name is "八蒜包" (Eight Garlic Bun). Its appearance and taste were very similar to those I've had at Taiwanese bakeries in mainland China. The cheese and garlic flavors were very strong, but the bread itself was slightly coarse. Hojicha Latte: The whole milk was very milky, but the hojicha flavor felt a little weak. However, it's already great to find a tea latte that's not very sweet.

The lanes where long inside and outside. The atmosphere was calm. The experience was great. So, I found this place on Instagram one of the friends on there had instasnap there experience via pics. One the pics this place looks so awesome and I could believe how the ice cream was being made so I had to see for myself. My girlfriend, daughter and I came here yesterday afternoon. Lanes long so, you know what that mean? That the ice cream has to be good right? The lanes was out the door. But the staff who works here are fast and diligent. Great customer service and it's clean. But to top it off the ice cream was different and good!! I had the strawberry and extra hot chocolate my girlfriend had the Oreo. The strawberry was great. I tasted my girlfriend Oreo which was one of the best sellers my opinion it was good but not great lol. But overall we had an awesome experience for sure.. will go back and it's seating by first come first sit if you know what I mean. Meaning that you sit yourself, if tables are available. I stopped by Legend Tasty House this weekend with my husband and sister-in-law while exploring Chinatown, and wow... what a gem! As soon as we walked in, we noticed the crowd. The place was packed, and now I completely understand why. They have a huge variety of flavors to choose from, something for every craving. I went with the coffee-flavored rolled ice cream, and my sister-in-law chose mango. The team took our order right away and despite the line, we only waited about 5 minutes. Super efficient! What makes this spot truly special is watching them craft the rolls right in front of you, it's mesmerizing. The technique, the freshness, and then... the taste! Absolutely mind-blowing. The flavors were rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, just right. The prices are super reasonable, the staff is friendly and fast, and the quality is unbeatable. If you're in Chicago and anywhere near Chinatown, do not skip this place. One of the best ice cream experiences I've had. Can't wait to come back and try more! read more

For products five stars, for cleanliness five stars. Staff should be a little more engaging with customers. Even the people making the ice cream could look up once in awhile and smile. It feels kind of like an assembly line and I had someone make my husband about looking at me once. But I've been here several times and I will come back several times again. The line used to be outside for this place. But you now have competition right down the street so customer service is the only place he will forge agead. read more
