We did the room Dynasty Chapter 1: Library. Everything was well decorated and fit the theme appropriately; we didnt even notice the speakers and cameras until later on in the game. The business is family-owned and they are on par with some of the escape franchises, if not better. Puzzles are straightforward; just dont't overthink and make sure you check every nook and cranny. We finished with enough time to do the bonus puzzle at the end, which is also a blast! We didn't get the name of our host, but he was very helpful. We will definitely be back for their second room, Dragon Tower, and any other future rooms! read more

This is really getting to be the Summer of Escape Rooms for us, to the point that we are beginning to think giving ourselves a permanent group name is in order ... Today, we tried out the Royal Library at Legend X - and we *loved* it. Here's why: 1. We had originally planned it for Chinese New Year, because we wanted to do an Ancient China room then, and Legend X is the only place we knew of that actually does rooms with a Chinese theme, but it worked out today as well - we are fresh from Netflixing Princess Weiyoung and a dimsum brunch ... 2. One of our challenges is always to find a private room for a smaller group, and Legend X fulfilled this requirement for our group of three. 3. We arrived at the location almost three hours ahead of time, but our game-shifu was most accommodating. It was really, really nice not to have to wander the mall for half the afternoon before we could immerse ourselves in the experience. 4. The room was perfect for our group: the clues were original, the artifacts authentic (Chinese locks! More, please!) and the theme just right for our book- and library-loving family. It didn't matter if you can't read Chinese, but if you do, you'd feel so much smarter ... :-) 5. The bonus room and mementoes - the "reward" and hard copy print-out of our time there was such a nice touch - best souvenior we've ever had from any escape room. What would have made this room an 12/10: 1. The lobby was not as cohesively decorated as the room itself was, and water was not free. We've been to some other places where we were offered free coffee as well. It's a minor point, but Rowland Heights in the summer gives new meaning to dry heat ... 2. Loved that we were given new identities for the role-playing, and how we were given them, but there was a bit of an identity crisis in the names themselves. Same with our special powers: better if they were actually fitted to the theme. A minor gripe, easily improved. 3. The modern locks in the room were a little out of place in a room so thoughtfully put-together. Again, minor gripe, also easily improved. So, if Legend X served boba and made a few cosmetic touch-ups, the Royal Library would be hands-down the best starter escape room for any small group looking for a Chinese-themed or library-inspired room in all of ... Southern California! We can't wait to try out Dragon Tower when we get enough people together! read more

Needs 5-10 people and you start in different rooms but can see each other and need to help everyone escape their own room. Highly recommend! read more

My cousin and I wanted something fun to do on a Saturday afternoon and chose this escape room to burn some time. One of the BEST decisions we ever made. 10/10 escape room, the codes, the locks, the hints, the amount of intelligence needed to complete any of the obstacles made for a great time. The sweetest guy running the place made the experience so much better. Honorable mention: when asking for hints, he didn't just tell us exactly what to do to progress, but instead indirectly hinted at what we either forgot or hadn't yet gone over to get us to the next part of the escape room. The Dragon Tower at Legend X Iteration Room Escape takes you deep into medieval times in a way that other escape rooms cannot. You and your group have found a mysterious matter in the Tower of Origin. Uncover the mystery to unlock the secrets of the tower. Production Value The production value is superb. From the outside of the escape room you could never tell what kind of treasures are hidden within. Plenty of parking here, it is an outdoor facing store in the Puente Hills mall. No bathroom here yet so you have to use the one in Macy's next door. The escape room itself is magical. There are 5 small rooms that you are all locked into by yourself and have to work together to get yourselves out. There is so much thought and planning that went into every little detail of the room. The music to the sound effects and the lighting. All wonderful. Immersion Factor This room is highly immersive. You all have to pick a "role" that you will play. Depending on what role you have, you will go into a designated room for that role. Of course no character is complete without a costume that you will have to wear. Every room has a different feel to it and it just adds so much more to your experience. Puzzles The puzzles are difficult. They are very intricate and there are a lot of them. You should have at least 5 people in your group if you want to be able to escape. Since you are all locked in different rooms from the start, the puzzles start off as non linear but towards the end of the room you start working towards the same goal. It blows my mind with the amount of work that went into these puzzles. Customer Service Our game master is like most of them out there, very nice and polite and helpful when we needed it. The Dragon Tower is a mystical adventure that immerses you heavily into medieval times. Everyone has their own role to play and there is always something to do. Although music and design sometimes make people feel a little scared, when I play Legendx, I can feel the designer's intentions many times, and I can feel some interesting logic in the process. First off, the owner is super nice and very accommodating to my special request. I was planning to take my boyfriend to an escape room on his birthday, and I reached out to the owner asking if I could have my gifts to my bf hidden in the game. He gave some great suggestions and even went beyond to include a nice birthday note card that we discovered in the game. Our group of 4 people played the Royal Library room, which is very well designed and has a lot of well crafted clues that I have never seen at other escape rooms before. I would definitely come back when I have more people in my group to play the Dragon Tower room! read more

Our group have done many escape rooms including Crossroad, Fox in the box, Exit game, Exodus, 60 Out, Enigma... just to name a few in the Los Angeles Area. And Legend X is definitely one of the tops on our list! They are located in the Puente Hills Mall next to HWY 60 and their entrance is right next to the bus stop at Macy's. There's a big sign on the top of their building so you literally can't miss it. Don't go into the mall because their entrance is on the outside. You will not be able to find it in the mall. We played their dragon tower game where the 5 of us dressed up and starts in our individual rooms. (HINT HINT: If you are afraid of dark, try to avoid being the sorcerer!) There are many creative puzzles that I have never seen before! I can't disclose too much information because they ask everyone to sign a contract to not spoil the game for others. But what I can tell you is... you actually have to use your weapons, like bow and arrow. And will be given the power to summon creature to transfer item! There are many puzzles for each person so it is very important to work individually and as a team. Our team almost failed because at some points we all decided to work on the same puzzle. But our friendly host gave us a little nudge to put us on the right track. This is not the game that you can just have one person do everything! And sharing information is so important to keep the game moving. I was the archer and can't wait to go back to play other roles! Great job Legend X! The reason I enjoyed this game so much was because there were a ton of puzzles (many that required multiple people to work together). The story made sense and played out well. My character started off in a situation that caused me to face my biggest phobia, so that part I didn't dig, but the fact that there was always something to be working on, made up for placing me in a situation where I had to face my inner demons. read more

Went here on Sat, Dec 8 for the Royal Library; definitely a great decision! Booking a room was easy, and half of our party showed up about 15 min late but the game master / host (?) was very kind and accommodating. He explained the rules, especially since this was our first escape room! The room was challenging for us but not to the point of exasperation or frustration; it was the perfect level of difficulty for us newbies. This room has a secret "bonus room" as well, which was pretty cool! We made it out and we definitely want to try the Dragon Tower next time. Overall, I highly recommend this place! Very friendly and nice staff, challenging rooms and a convenient location (easy to find parking and located at a mall, so can eat/shop after). Try it!!! read more
