Red Lantern Escape Room: We opened the crown for our last soul to save with 2 minutes left!
    Lorri D.

My original review still stands!! Great fun!! We had done the Curse of the Bayou last time (2 teams in separate rooms competing to escape) and this time we went back and did the Midnight on the Bayou (everyone all together room) Escape Room and it was so much fun! Of course it was really challenging for the most part, especially since we aren't experts by any means and most of us have only done one room ever (and one of us had never). It is a very simple set up, not fancy, kind of looked like something you'd see in a local live theater set. Simple, but cute and did the trick for sure. Basically we had to save the souls of 5 students who didn't make it out of a fire during prom night. We had to follow through on their dreams for them. Possibly a little eerie, but not scary at all. Just a mysterious vibe. We did have to get some helpful clues a couple of times but we managed to escape and with TWO minutes to spare! Just in the nick of time!! Make sure you get there early to sign waivers and use the restroom. Parking is in an industrial complex, just look for the little red lantern. We really did have a great time in both of their experiences and continue to talk about it and spread the word about Red Lantern. Our picture was better this time too. THANK YOU!!!!

My experience at Red Lantern Escape Room was beyond great! It was a party of 10 of us. We were split into teams of 2, 5 in each team which made it even more exciting because both teams were determined to win. It's a bit spooky but, nothing that will give you nightmares or that you can't handle. I loved the theme & overall it was such a fun experience and a great way to practice communication and team work skills. It was fun! I would love to come back and try the bigger escape room. The staff is kind, on point with the theme, & very clear on explaining how the escape rooms work. The place is also clean. Plenty of parking outside. I 100% recommend especially if your a m*rder Junkie.

Super fun escape room. Unique puzzles with a great back story of characters and events. Roy, the host, added to the fun and was super personable. Highly recommend this memorable escape room.

Amazing!! The rooms are super creative and detailed without being overly difficult. Both rooms had great plots and kept us on our toes the whole time. Roy was so nice and made the experience very enjoyable. The Curse was our first head-to-head experience and we LOVED the competition. Bayou was so fun, and the large room was still so detailed and immersive. Thank you for a wonderful birthday!

Ask the Community - Red Lantern Escape Rooms

Does this place really not do private rooms unless I book for 12? All the other rooms we've done (15+) have been private.

All of our rooms are now private!

Um I'm easily scared is this a scary game because I don't think I can handle that ahehe 😅?

Midnight on the Bayou is appropriate for ages 13 and up. While it is dimly lit and slightly spooky, there are no 'jump scares' and it is not intended to be a horror escape experience. Also, there are supernatural aspects to the game.

My daughter is turning 12 ... she has requested doing an escape room with 7 of her friends, do you have anything for this age group?

The age limit for Midnight on the Bayou is 13 and up. We are, however, able to make exceptions in certain situations. Please give us a call and we will do what we can to accommodate you.

One thing tho, when you get told "clues/directions" you have to listen good. Like, no one should be talking/whispering as it's difficult to hear otherwise. I'd definitely recommend checking out this place! There was limited street parking in front, but there was a lot across the street. I'm not sure if you have to pay or if it was free.

This is an update to our review of Escapade Games, and we really lucked out in our choice of…read moreRockin' around the Christmas Tree. Almost all of Escapade Games' rooms have a horror element and are obviously targeted towards the colleges nearby, but not only was Rockin' adapted to accommodate parties of two; for this season, it was themed to fit the holidays. We also got a very pleasant surprise when it came time to pay for our online reservation: it was half the price of a standard room for a party of 8! This was a (happy) shock because we are used to paying for 3 or 4, even though we are a duo. The 2025 Pineapple Express had slowed to a steady trickle by the time we arrived at Escapade Games Christmas Eve after a music-less British pub lunch less than a two-minute drive away. The cavernous restrooms, located outside the lobby, were clean, and the lobby looked like it was in the midst of some renovation, but another game was going on, and since we already filled out our waivers, we settled down to wait for our game to start. And waited. And waited. And waited. When we finally started our hour-long game, after the technical difficulties were resolved and the game rules reminders given, all was forgiven very fast: as a bonus to playing a game that was getting ready to be put out of commission, we could take unlimited photos in the room! And there was so much to do in the music-themed room: even though not all the instruments were playable, and there were still minor glitches as we were playing, Joey was a terrific game host - he, too, made a quick recovery from the technical issues and was as determined as we were to have a phenomenal game. There was no timer in the room, but going by our photos, we were done in 52:48, with a lot of help. Our favourite puzzles had to do with the picks and bands, and playing the instruments to rise back up to the top of the pops as rockstars is such an original theme. The music played put us in the holiday mood - especially "The 12 Days of Christmas". That's probably not our favourite Christmas song, but it helped that I just got done with Susan Stokes-Chapman's holiday short story collection! Rockin' around the Christmas Tree is set to what we consider 3-G (Generation 3, with a lot of computer FX elements) tasks with G-1 locks, and, despite the late start, was very much the best Christmas present to set us off on our holidays! Joey, our heroic gamemaster, was a huge part of the fun game we had. We could tell he had started off not having such a good Christmas because the room's serious technical issues were clearly unexpected, but he fixed everything so that we could have a great time. We eventually realized the fantastic price we paid was not just because our game, unlike other Escapade rooms, did not feature a live actor in the room. Even more importantly, we only found out, after our game, that the room was being taken down to make way for a three-room movie-based horror adventure. We are so, so glad that we got to experience Rockin' around the Christmas Tree before it was dismantled, and keep our fingers crossed it gets a spectacular comeback in the near future (like the rockstars we were supposed to be!) That said, we are looking forward to checking out anything else Escapade Games has to offer - can't wait for more games in 2026! This review is duplicated on Yelp and Google.

I rarely leave reviews, but this one deserves it…read more I did Zoe v1 years ago and it was one of the escape rooms that originally got me hooked on the hobby. Coming back for the updated version, I honestly didn't expect it to top the first one -- but it absolutely did. The new ownership has taken everything that worked and elevated it, and the holiday Kruppes theme added such a unique twist without losing the spirit of the original. The set design, immersion, and overall tension are on a whole new level. Shoutout to Emily and Bree for making our experience incredible -- their energy and commitment made a huge difference. Already planning to come back in February for the Valentine's variant. If you're on the fence, just go. It's worth it.

Toria, our host was friendly and ensured we had a great experience, going above and beyond what I typically see from most gamemasters. The new games are Vampire vs. Witch and Black Hole. I would strongly recommend Vampire vs. Witch with a smaller group and have the roles swapped out afterwards so you can best experience both puzzle tracks. I would say that, for a 15 minute game, Vampire vs. Witch was pretty cool, definitely worth the small price and would work well if you didn't have too much time or wanted a warmup for either Fatal Invitation or Black Hole. For Chinese speakers, there's also the option to switch the language in the room, but when I played the default was English. There's also an integrated hint system which allows you to communicate through a tablet, which doubles as your timer for the room. Despite having some minor technical issues on a follow-up visit with a different gamemaster, we did have a backup walkie so make sure to keep that one close by as well. Overall, I thought that these were fun rooms that, without giving away too much, challenged the norms of typical escape game style puzzles in a way that was refreshing and cleverly entertaining.

I almost booked online but ended up calling because I had some specific questions, and she made it easy to book and pay over the phone. On the day we booked, Chad was our host and he was super energetic and brought all the right vibes. We had 8 people in our group and we did the Vendetta 80s room. Two people in our group hadn't done an escape room before, one person had done a few and most of us had only done one prior, so a fairly diverse group. Chad was great at explaining the rules and also giving the group a few tips and pointers. He also offered free water bottles to my team. The Vendetta room was really fun. As he described it, it was a little more old school in terms of puzzles, meaning not super techy like some other rooms can be. But the challenges were really fun, and in our opinion, pretty challenging! In this room you are in an old 80s store front, fighting the villain action figures to find and save the super hero's and good guys. Each of us kind of found our strengths in puzzle solving and we finished right on the dot, finding all 15 figures. Lots of old music, action figures, baseball cards, books, toys, legos, and laser beams. The magic 8 ball was the death of me, shake it really well!! But anyway, I digress My team had a great time and got to take some fun pictures at the end with 80s props. Chad even asked us if we wanted to take a sneak peek of the Olympus room afterward. It looked super cool and was definitely different than Vendetta, a lot more tech, and we may be back for a future outing to try it out! Definitely recommend this gem for a team bonding experience, or even just a group of friends that want something new and fun to do. Chad also explained the history behind escape rooms a bit, and it was interesting to know that this was the first escape room in anaheim, and one of the first 10 in the US. It made me appreciate it even more knowing we were supporting a small business that's been around for a while. Thank you again for being a great host, Chad! We went with a group of 7 and felt it was a good amount of people given the amount of puzzles to go through. My group really enjoyed the theme and puzzles - definitely one of the harder escape rooms we've done honestly! Puzzles aren't too linear, multiple people can work on different things at the same time which was really nice to have so everyone had something they could do. Theme was on point and all the props/environment were very nice. There were a few things that were falling apart but we ended up telling our GM about it. Our GM was great! I think her name was Katie? She helped us out when we screamed for her and having unlimited hints was a great help. We really liked that the hints were displayed on the screen with the timer rather than having to hear it via speakers. It was SUPER helpful because we could read it at our own pace and also look back at it when we're in a different room. The only downside I'd say is that there was only 1 TV screen in the entire escape room so we did have to run back and forth a few times to re-read the hint. The hint didn't really leave the screen until we were either done with the puzzle or got a new hint, so it was really nice! Overall we had a great experience and barely escaped with like ~5 minutes left! It was a pretty tough one - some puzzles were more straightforward but others were a pretty tough. I did like the concepts of some puzzles and found it unique compared to what I've encountered in other escape rooms. 10/10 recommend! Definitely coming back to try out their other rooms.
