Legit Movers was actually pretty legit. If it weren't for them I would not now how I'd carry all my stuff down a flight of stairs including my huge sofa, dining table, other furniture, and my bed. With them I didn't have to worry about anything because they handled everything, they had several guys help me with the move and honestly it was such a relief because I had been so busy from work and I had no idea how I was going to move so quickly. Big shout out to my friend for suggesting to use a moving helping company because I had to move during the week day and all my friends have Monday-Friday jobs and even myself I had to take time off in order to move. More on the company though; they were superior in customer service, physical capable of carrying anything no matter how heavy, big, or weirdly shaped, they will get it done. I'm happy that I went through with their service because it saved me a great deal of time. If you're too occupied to move yourself I recommend using Legit Movers! read more

Not sure that I can wholeheartedly recommend this company. I had service for a full pack and move for a 1 bedroom/1 bath from the South Loop to Logan Square. I had no issues with the pack or the move. The crew that was sent was very personable, diligent, and fairly quick with the pack and move. I think it took about six hours total. No issues with the service there. However, after unpacking, my TV screen was cracked. I submitted a damage claim form as directed by their customer care department. After a few days the responded with a denial of my claim. It was disappointing that they would not accept responsibility for the damage and insinuated that I was the one who damaged the TV, or at the very least, because I did not see the damage before they left (or in their words) "there were no damages reported during the move", that they would not assume responsibility. Looks like I'll be visiting a rage room soon with my broken TV. read more

2nd Time I've used this moving company. My Movers were Erik & Nate, both of them did a really good job. The dispatch lady who called me was also Very polite. I help manage an art gallery and have quite a few paintings that needed special attention. They had no problem double wrapping them and using moving blankets to transfer for them. I requested that they bring tools because taking apart my West Elm bedframe is a real pain. They brought everything that was needed. A lot of the screws are stripped on it because I've had the bed frame for a while and done multiple moves with it but they still were able to disassemble and reassemble it without any issues. The guys work quickly and dealt with some annoying circumstances and still made it work. They had to move their truck during the middle of the move because of a garbage truck that needed to get to the garage. Case in point, they rolled with the punches My 1 bedroom move was from River North to Pilsen ( for way more square footage). Final total was about $500 for my one-bedroom. I have used many companies in the past that have charged lower but often times there was a lot of disorganization and changes in the original plan. Still waiting 8 days later to hear back from customer service about replacing my damaged furniture. It's clear they have no intention of reaching out so I'm going to post this review instead. I could write a novel on why this is one star, but I'll try to sum it up: -Movers arrived 20 minutes late, didn't want to use the reserved elevator & key (he told me a horrific story about an elevator falling with him in it) so I ended up holding the door and helping unload for the entire hour so it wouldn't take twice as long. Thankfully we had everything boxed up and moved into the living area. Not a huge deal but a foreboding start. -Movers asked me how to get to my new apartment, even though I sent instructions a few days before. They told me they couldn't go the quickest route because they brought a massive truck (for a one bedroom apartment!) that wouldn't clear the bridges. When I provided an alternate route, they asked if it had bridges they couldn't clear. Not sure, isn't that your job? -I ended up moving around 70% of my own boxes from my backyard up the stairs and into my apartment. I expected to do a little, but not nearly this much. And THEN I overheard one mover on the phone telling someone at Legit Movers that there were more than two levels of stairs, we didn't reserve the elevator, etc. I live on the second floor, I told them second floor. Just because the staircase has five steps and then turns into five more to reach the next level does not make it multiple levels, sorry. I was the one going up the stairs all day anyway! -Instead of bringing my furniture up the stairs, they passed it up over the side of the railing, scraping much of my furniture. Two items of furniture were broken in the move: a $300 chair and $200 desk. It cost me more money in damage than I paid them to move! I don't even know how they broke the chair leg, it was completely disassembled beforehand. I was assured someone would contact me in 24 hours. They did not. I reached out via email, they told me a couple more days and someone would reach out. They did not. -I ended up moving my work desk (broken during the move) up the stairs (as the guy bearing the weight at the bottom while one mover twice my size watched!) the head mover said it was too wobbly to move. Certainly wasn't that way moving it out of the apartment. I know this for a fact because the movers told us they wouldn't move one entertainment center we owned-- and knew to be a piece of crap--because it was already broken. That was fine, but now you've moved my desk, broken it, left it in my backyard, and now you won't move it up the stairs into my apartment? Gee, thanks. Overall, I picked the cheapest movers of the 3 I contacted and deeply regretted it. If you want to move and break the furniture yourself, just grab a U-Haul. I'm just thankful we moved the valuables and electronics ourselves in the days before the move. read more

Slow! These guys like to take their sweet time. Was told "wow you guys did a great job packing, this will be easy" for our recent 2 bed move yet Dan and his 2 man team certainly made it seem real difficult. We had 100% of items boxed and a reserved elevator and it took 3 hours to move 2 beds and matching nightstands and 1 couch into the truck. They also managed to drop 2 pieces of furniture. It didn't help that I paid $141 per hour for a 3 man crew and 1 of the 3 never lifted a thing... insanely slow. Stay away from this company. NOT legit at all! read more

Usually I'm the one that helps people move. This time I'm the one that needs help moving. It was winter time and I didn't want to bother any of my friends moving so I did some searching. I was eventually referred to Legit Movers Chicago by a friend and had no doubt in mind since they have a great track record on Yelp. The day of moving the movers were prompt and on time. Truck parked outside, ready for action. All my furniture was thoroughly wrapped and carefully taken out of the unit. I'm usually really picky with how people move stuff (movers tend to crash and bump into walls with furniture) so I kept an eye on how these guys handled my stuff. These guys didn't make one mistake! My original impression of people who help you move usually do not show as much care and hearing experiences that my friends had encountered through different companies, I wasn't too sure about this. Gahhhhhh I wish I remembered the names of the 3 guys that helped us move a couple of weeks ago. I'm a jerk, I should have wrote them down. I'm a shy person, HA! So right before we needed to move I saw boxes on our floor's hallway, and the unmistakable sound of moving... the taping of boxes. I investigated further and basically invited myself into my neighbors apt (whom I had never met before). Nice guy once he got over the "why is there a strange lady in my apt" befuddlement. I asked him how he liked the movers and he could not say enough nice things about them. He found them on some app and liked the reviews. We hired them and AWESOME! We could not have been happier with them. Really nice, professional, and all around great guys. They were so careful with everything... which is more than I can say for the furniture delivery guys with a new couch who marred the freshly paint walls. Dan, Joseph, and Ray got started promptly at 10am as scheduled, and I mean military prompt! We had a lot of heavy books but they were no problem for these guys, who carried 5 or 6 boxes at once (I had trouble with one!) Everything was stacked neatly into my rented truck and it all arrived 450 miles away safely. They also helped me secure a couple difficult items (I had no idea how to securely pack a taxidermied fish) and recommended a few things to get from the hardware store to make sure everything would be safe. These three movers were also really nice guys with a good sense of humor, and we enjoyed talking to them while they worked their butts off. The only problem I had with the whole process was that the main phone number seemed to be having some issues when I was calling to finalize the setup, sometimes I'd have to call a few times to get through. However, once Dan called me to tell me the team was on their way everything went smoothly. They charge a basic hourly rate with a small fee added on for a few extra supplies they provided. I thought this was very reasonable, as I compared pricing when I picked up some of their suggestions from Home Depot,and they also recommended a few things I should buy on my own. So there were no surprises, unlike a lot of movers who provide an "estimate" that can be hundreds or thousands of dollars from the final bill. read more

This was my first time hiring movers and I've heard plenty of horror stories from friends. I then decided to go with Legit because their Yelp reviews seemed great and they seemed to offer the best price in town . I called to schedule my move and was placed on hold to a Kygo remix of an Ed Sheeran song - I said to myself "Hmm seems legit." The customer service representative was very helpful and took down all the details to help make sure my move went as smoothly as possible. On the day of the move, the driver, Eric, called me when he was 45 minutes away which was super helpful. He and his partner, Nate, were very methodical in their process of moving things down, trying to be the most efficient with each trip they took down the elevator. They carefully wrapped up all of my larger furniture and listened to my requests with other special items that I wanted wrapped up. How can you run a professional moving company and be unable to provide estimated times for arrival or move times? They simply declined my morning move request because of the 2 hour elevator constraint which is a Chicago standard for any high-rise building move and which I informed I had flexibility to move as needed. Sunny and Dennis just left our place, and I have to say I was extremely impressed by the entire moving experience. Sunny and Dennis arrived right on time, came fully prepared for any unforeseen moving obstacles (they brought tons of tape, blankets, extra boxes, etc), and were extremely friendly and professional. Although this move in particular was quite the poor experience, legit movers definitely rebounded with their customer service. It makes all the difference to have a company that actually takes time to reach out to unsatisfied customers and not only remedy the situation, but explain why their service was not consistent with my experience. I used Legit Movers for a move on October 25th of this year and they were great. Denis and his team were fast, efficient and personable. The move involved two locations, my husband and I were moving from our separate residences into one. One in Chicago, the other in Evanston and the final destination in Des Plaines. The guys wasted no time - they arrived on time and were done moving items from my husband's place in an hour and a half and once they arrived in Evanston they had my items on the truck in two hours - it took a little longer for me because of three flights of stairs. I highly recommend Legit Movers - after reading reviews for other moving companies there is no other company I would use. Sunny and Max just left our move and I was so thrilled with their work that I had to write my review right away before I forgot! First - they were super easy to communicate with via e-mail. Prompt, quick responses and I appreciate being able to talk to them without having to be on the phone all day. Second - they confirmed my appointment once via e-mail two days before my move and then again the day before by calling me. Third - Sunny and Max showed up early (does that ever happen?!) and called ahead to let us know that they would be coming earlier than expected. Fourth - the guys were friendly, polite, and did the job in the time we were quoted. They helped move our one-bedroom apartment into storage and were really helpful with getting everything into the small Public Storage unit. [Edited review] I am leaving the original review below so you can appreciate the response I received after from Legit's customer service, but they more than amply reimbursed me for the damaged items, and I could tell that their customer service team was honestly upset that this had happened. Throughout the claims process their responses were fast and courteous, and I get the feeling that they use situations like these to improve their processes, as other reviews on Yelp are largely positive. The reason I am keeping this at 4 stars is that these issues happened at all in the first place, and secondly because they got my address wrong on the reimbursement check, which caused me to have to spend several fun days communicating with USPS over the phone to try and find out where the hell it was. [Original review] After comparing pretty much every mover in the Chicagoland area here on Yelp I decided to go with Legit and here's what I got: - In the apartment I was moving out of, they broke an air freshener that was in the hallway. Understandable I guess, but they never told us about it, and instead they just moved the broken air freshener (shattered in pieces) in front of my neighbor's door. I noticed on the way out and threw it out myself, as an adult would. - They left my old apartment a good 45 minutes before I did, but got to the new place more than a half hour after me. They were on the clock but admitted that they stopped to "get something to drink". Hmm. - In my new place, they left my filing cabinet on its side. I found this weird as obviously this would cause the contents of the filing cabinet to fall out, but after they left I learned why: they'd broken the back corner of the filing cabinet, and one of the wheels was no longer attached (see a pattern from the air freshener before?) - When they were done at my new place they told me to come downstairs to check the truck one last time. I followed them down in a separate elevator, but when I got outside they were gone. They didn't call to let me know they were immediately bouncing. Subsequently I found that they did not remove two items: panels for the back of my dresser (which they did bring back later the next night), and also an electrical cable that I need to connect power to my wife's vanity. Her vanity is a very nice, custom-built vanity that we have moved ourselves several times (including internationally) without incident, but now due to the missing cable, we cannot use the vanity until I have an electrician come and redo the wiring. They did finish early and I appreciate paying less, I suppose. I wish I'd spent more and had people who didn't break my stuff, break things in the common area of my old place, and admit when they made mistakes. read more

This time I called Legit Movers and from the first call I knew I had the right company. Easy to schedule, confirmed the day prior and on move day Roman, Hector and Adrian showed up on time, ready to work and properly tooled. I was really impressed with the movers at Legit. They helped us move out of our childhood home with ease today. The guys were very professional, fast and efficient. They helped wrapped our furniture and were extremely careful with the fragile objects during the move. All we had to do was pack up everything and they did all the work. For a 4 bedroom house, they moved us out in about 7 hours. I highly recommend Legit Movers. The movers and customer service are great and you will get your money's worth. I would NOT recommend this moving company. My quote ended up being over $100 more. On the day of the move, one of the movers received a phone call literally every 10-15 minutes. No Joke! In my mind I'm thinking are you on a job or busy answering phone calls? In the end I feel like this added extra time to my move. I hired an extra mover to make the move go faster, but as you can read it was longer and really didn't make a difference. A wood table I had that needed to be dis-assembled and re-assembled apparently kept on draining the only drill they had on hand. Again, un-prepared. My table is still wobbly and have to fix it.
