Lei Low is always a blast. Although I'm sometimes confused by the setup, the bartenders are always extremely pleasant and happy to answer any questions. I have been there twice in a space of a month. I've never been to Hawaii but I'm certain that it has a feel of it. Be sure to Uber because parking is pretty difficult. I have tried only two drinks on their menu. The first one was a blended drink ''missionary's downfall.' I had seen the bartender make it with fresh fruit and inquired about it. It was a blended drink and although it was good, I wanted something that had less texture. The second drink knocked it out of the park for me. LAST RITES. Don't think about it. This is the cutest little Tiki Bar hidden in a strip mall. I loved my experience at Lei Low. Don't miss this spot. The drinks were delicious! I started with a Port Light - nicely balanced and not too sweet. I finished with a bartender's choice mocktail. I told her I liked the funky syrups of Tiki drinks and she delivered. It came in the cutest shark mug dripping with "blood." I really appreciated the bartender making me an off-menu mocktail and making it fun. The mocktail revolution is so needed and appreciated. I came during December and it was decorated for the holidays. I loved their collection of beach Santas! Really cute decor. They have happy hour deals each day. This place seems to have a cult following and people love it. It really wasn't for me and I guess I just didn't get it. The smell was just horrible. Chlorine or some intense cleaning products were extremely overused. I didn't get why you wait in line to order drinks. It's a small place that could have servers. So you order and then wait outside to be called in to sit at bar seats? I wish we'd stayed outside. The menu was weird. I just got one of the more basic rum drinks. Lei Low is such a great tiki bar. It's a mix of neighborhood bar and a transport to paradise. Located next to a convenience store, looks like an unoccupied space, don't blink or you'll miss it. Once inside, you're immediately greeted with traditional tiki decor and bartenders ready make your perfect tiki drink. The vibe is fun and the music is great. It's very busy on weekend nights, traffic is directed to the back patio to wait anywhere from 30-40 minutes. Drinks can be ordered and taken to the patio. The drinks are fun, there is something for everyone. Tiki drinks are served in tiki mugs. My favorite is Barefoot in the Sand- it's delicious if you love banana. This place is a hidden Gem! My friend recommended it and I was not disappointed. The beers were ok and they didn't have any crown or gin that i liked so minus a few points for that but the vibes and atmosphere were on point! And they even had a table full of concha's (pan dulce or sweet bread) that was complimentary! There was also a DJ there that was playing like Spanish reggae music which was great. This place is great for a date but not if you want to talk much because it was very loud. I felt that the music could have been turned down a bit. Over all though it was a cool spot with great decor! I went for my bday and had a good time with my bestie The only thing is, the bar is located in an area that doesn't have good parking. There's probably only 5 - 10 or so parking spots for the bar. My fiancé is literally obsessed with their piña coladas and swears they are the best he has ever had. I had a safety drink my first time here- a ranch water- and it is the best ranch water I have ever had! I ventured out of my comfort zone and went with a Mai Tai the next time and now I have my obsession drink for when I return. When we arrived, there was small wait thanks to fire code. After a group came out, we were allowed to go in -- it was packed. We ordered some drinks and stood until some seating opened. After 15 minutes or so, a corner of the bar opened where we ended up parking. We ordered a oogo booga (I think) as well as another drink that was on fire. I also ordered the rum barrel. All of the drinks were a mix of art and deliciousness. The ooga booga experience was pretty cool as the whole bar started shouting oogo booga as it was delivered. Pretty funny and cool. My only gripe about the place is also part of its charm. It is a small place. That also means very limited convenient parking. If you're looking for a great tiki bar, stop by this place! read more

I literally stumbled across this place by accident, we were going to the smoke shop next-door when we noticed a little bar right next-door. My friend and I decided to give it a try, and we really weren't expecting much when we walked in. To our surprise, the interior of the bar was Hawaiian theme and very well decorated, nothing like we would've expected given the exterior. I forget what we ordered, but it was creamy and delicious and the sweetness was not overbearing or overwhelming, it was just the right amount of everything. We made our way outside, as we wanted to smoke. The outdoor seating area was divine. They had a fountain going, bamboo in the back with awesome signs and seating that look like airdropped cargo. I came here for drinks on a Thursday night. It is such a great hidden gem. One of my friends who is a Houston local knew about it and said any hour there is happy hour if you wear a Hawaiian shirt, which is an amazing deal. Over the course of the night, we tried the Missionary's Downfall, Lions Tail, and the Mystery Bowl, but we all decided that the Blue Hawaiians were our favorites. The cocktails are quite fancy compared to your typical tropical tiki bar drink. FYI, if you don't look closely enough, you might miss the bar from outside! It had been several years since I visited Lei Low and I was long overdue. This tiki bar is located in a nondescript part of The Heights in a nondescript shopping center shared with a gas station and smoke shop. There are only four or five parking spots or so which means you'll probably have to find street parking. When you arrive, it looks like crap from the outside. To the point where you wonder if you're at the right spot. Hold on, it's worth it. Once you walk in, you feel like you've been transported to Hawaii. Tropical decor adorns the walls. There are dim lights. Several spots along the bar and some booths. They don't have waiters so you go up to the bar and they call your name when your cocktail is ready. They don't have food here minus two snack options but they know why you're here: for the tropical cocktails. There are probably 30 or so cocktails to choose from with a lot of them being rum options. These are craft cocktails so it will take a little bit but the bartenders work hard. On my most recent visit, I came by on a Thursday night and the bar was almost full. It's not a large bar so I'm sure it can get a little hectic on a Friday or Saturday night. They have happy hour from 4-6 and special discounts Monday-Wednesday. All three of my cocktails were interesting. Some were too sweet for my taste but I appreciated the creativity. They have your classic mai tai and blue hurricane but the tropical cocktails extend well beyond that. They also have drinks that you can share with two, three, or four people. These are pretty wild. My friend and I shared the one for two and it was served in a clam with a banana sculpted to resemble a dolphin smoking a cigar. There were also little toy mermaids in our drink...incredible. The bartenders recognize us every time we go as we're frequent costumers and we know each other very well now!
