what a magnificent lounge!! stunning interior design paired with exceptional craft cocktails. i popped in for happy hour during the week (m-f 4-6p) 1/2 off house cocktails the menus are gorgeous! i'm a sucker for unique elevated paper menus. the menus have a pearlized finish that makes them feel buttery and give a dreamy vibe. the service was great! no complaints at all. the bartender with red hair, made me a killer paloma ! the best i've had in a long while. this is a great spot for after work drinks, weekend hangs, etc. the inside and out are spacious, but there are intimate pockets. i definitely want to visit again, and see how this space handles larger crowds. if you're on the fence, let this be your push to the other side! bonné santé c. read more

Let me just say I forgot to take pics of the wonderful hidden gem. I grew up in the area many many years ago and I had no idea what to expect. When you walk in the upscale bar sets you back and the bartenders and their expertise making cocktails is amazing. It is a little small inside but their patio area is definitely worth a visit. They are dog friendly and if you wanna catch a game there are plenty of TVs to help you out. This was an unexpected visit so again sorry I didn't get names or pictures. They do check IDs at the door, and it's Ssmall inside with intimate vibes, and plenty of outdoor seating. Great for a date night.. and I really like the furniture and decor. They have an Espresso Martini Drink on TAP and it's VERY GOOD. Service was quick and friendly. I read on their sign that they are doing a Steak Night soon, and I can't wait to see the pricing and how that tastes. Love that it's in my neighborhood, and such a fun place to go to. Stopped in for a drink after work, thankfully not too far away from where I work in downtown. A big win for me was that they have designated parking, I had parked but wasn't sure and then saw Dylan, bartender, and I asked him and he said I was fine in the parking lot next to the bar, and that they also had parking across the street on Enid St. For me that's one thing that's important is to have parking. Midtown with their questionable parking makes me not want to go. Upon entering, the place is a nice, intimate setting, with a handful of seating areas along with bar and outside seating. Recommend bringing a light jacket as it was a bit cold. The menu had a variety of offerings, and noted that all drinks are $12. They are card only, so bring your card or tap to pay and also your ID. Because they are 3 feet from a school and are considered a private club, they comply with TABC regulations to ensure safety and efficiency in their business. From the variety of the drinks, I opted for my signature drink, an Old Fashioned, it definitely had a bite to it. I slowly sipped on it while I lounged in one of the seating areas. My sister tried the Starduster Ranch Water, and she didn't like it, I had a sip of it and it tasted like only way I can describe is like soap. Saw that they also have Mocktails and THC Beverages, I didn't try any of them. We headed out as we were trying to grab dinner and Starduster doesn't currently offer food. I did get to speak with Dylan again outside and he clued me in on a couple of things they are planning to do such as having food trucks and also open the upstairs for additional space. Overall, I know being new (had just opened last week) there are many things being worked on and do hope that things improve here and they add additional seating, it got busy for a bit and seating was standing only. Thankfully I was there early enough and got a nice cozy seating area. I removed a star because both my drink and my sister weren't really anything special, it tasted like they were premade and poured from a tap, I missed seeing each one be made. I did like that there aren't TV's inside, it helps maintain the personal interactions natural and focused. Outside they do have TV's which makes sense for bigger groups. Though the seating is limited inside, likely to maintain it as a cozy and intimate space, outside has a lot of seating AND they are PET FRIENDLY! In cold weather without heating lamps, don't think anyone would really sit out there. Once spring and summer arrive, it will be nice. A few friends and I decided to venture over to Starduster Lounge on Valentine's Day and it was especially crowded. I was a bit surprised to learn that because they're too close to an elementary school, they are technically a private club and ID has to be scanned / a waiver has to be signed. I think they should play this piece up and make it a bit more speakeasy like because right now it just seems like an annoying task you have to complete when trying to order. I ordered a frozen margarita with salt and thought it was OK but did love the little glass with cacti on it that it came in. I also tried my friend's drinks and thought they were good, not great. The bartenders were very helpful and friendly despite being slammed with orders. We ended up sitting at a back table as that's all we could snag (even after waiting awhile). For me, this place COULD be cool under the right circumstances but it isn't a place I'd go out of my way to visit again. I'd recommend this place for a cute date drink if you can get a spot at the bar or if they put heaters on the patio during the winter, it could also be more fun! My wife and I checked out Starduster Lounge prior to a dinner in town on a Saturday evening. Starduster is located in the old Spanish Flower restaurant. It seems smaller than I would have imagined the restaurant being, but maybe much of the old restaurant was patio. There is seating at the wrap around bar where two - three mixologists are slinging the drinks. There is no wait staff, but the bartenders do a great job of handling everyone. We were there at 5 PM and there appeared to be a big crowd of pre-Astros game celebrations going on. Pretty crowded, but again the bartenders made it easy to order and get your drinks. We had 4 cocktails between us - The Freezer Cosmo, The Terralingua Saserac (both served up), the Old Fashioned and the Daisy Verdita. The Daisy Verdita was unique and the star of the show. Its a tequila based drink with a vegetal green spicy and tart addition, kind of bloody mary like but green. Just very tasty and different. The Freezer Cosmo was also excellent. The only cocktail I might not get again was the old fashioned as I like mine on a big rock instead of rocks. Friendly bartenders, excellent innovative cocktails, and a happening scene. I went here with a few buddies for one stop in a guys night. We all felt like we had been here before... on close inspection the inside layout is very similar to Boheme, another great bar in town. We enjoyed a few cocktails before taking in one or two more spots around the heights. Drinks were good and the umbeyonce had perfect vibes for a neighborhood spot. I wish we had something similar walking distance from my house. Given how new it is the bar was decently busy and felt difficult to order a drink but not terrible. I visited here with my friend who lives in the neighborhood and wanted to go say hi to her new neighbors. Truth be told, I was a little worried that this would be another pretentious crafts cocktail bar full of snooty people pretending to have a good time for their instagram page (like a certain bar near Allen Parkway), but every single staff member I interacted with from the bartenders, manager, and barback were the friendliest people I have met in the industry. Of course it didn't hurt that we were there with big floofball. Speaking of which, they do have a nice outdoor area that is dog friendly. You can come through the front door. They just opened up so I'm not completely sure what the vibe is going to be but I'm guessing it's more casual during the afternoon and weeknights but more loungy on weekend nights? Their cocktail prices are about $12 a drink...actually, not "about", it IS $12 so it's very approachable and they don't take forever trying to put on a show for you so you'll get your drink in a reasonable time. They have beer and wine also which i'm guessing are cheaper. Parking is a bit tricky but you can park on the streets around the bar or at the triangle parking lot. I'm so glad there's a new place in the Heights to grab a cocktail. Starduster gives off Marfa vibes and delivers whether you've been there or not. The decor is pleasantly western retro chic. The drinks focus heavily on tequilas and mezcals, but there's something for everyone if that's not your jam. I've tried several of the cocktails, and I keep my eye out for specials or seasonal drinks, but honestly the frozen margarita here has a chokehold on me most visits. The patio is absolutely charming. There are enough trees to shade, plenty of space, and a couple TV's to watch the Astros on. There is plenty of space for food pop-ups. I've only had El Flaco Norteño for apps there but I'm dying to try his taco plates one of these nights. As for service, every bartender we have interacted with is pleasant and sociable. I'd name names, but then I'd be giving out the entire staff list. My husband and I appreciate coming on slower Sunday afternoons and chatting about video games or football or food with the guys and gals behind the bar. They get slammed easily because the bar area is small, but they take their craft very seriously and want to serve you a drink you'll love. I've learned so much about mezcal (which I thought I hated) from the bartenders here, even finding one I like! That being said, drinks here lean into the Western vibe. Read the menu, know what flavors you like, and if you're not sure and the bartenders aren't slammed, ask what they think!!! There is a separate parking lot with plenty of spaces, but on busy nights there is also street parking. It's Houston, so rain obviously does a number on the surface, so be careful and watch your step, but be thankful for dedicated parking instead of parking in front of some rando's house and walking 7 blocks... Because this bar is located near a school, they MUST scan your ID at each visit. On busy nights they have a door person to do this, but if it's slower then the bartenders will scan your ID before ringing in your drinks. I personally appreciate that they are consistent and serious about this practice. Overall this is a standout new bar in the area. I hope they stick around a long time. read more

Last Sunday we had a get together to celebrate a graduation. We had about 30 guests. We used some of the picnic tables outside and opened a tab at the bar. The whole experience was outstanding. The bartenders were courteous and fast and they remembered who was with our party so the bar tab was correct. The entire process was easy and low stress. I had seen a good review and decided to stop by. The parking was not great, we had to park behind the building..walk through potholes and try to get around the mud to get to the building. Once we got inside, we were not greeted or acknowledged, there was no available seating and the bartenders were stand-off ish. We decided to overlook that and still try to order a drink. There was no space up at the bar to order so we had to walk up behind (what i think) is a fridge or a cooler and try to order there. As i was ordering my drink i got cutoff and the bartender said "i need to scan an Id" ok.. gave him my id. He then asked me to repeat my order... i felt like we were just annoying him and that was enough for me. One of my favorite buildings (formerly one of the cantinas that used to be prominent on N. Main) is reopened as a neighborhood bar. They've left so much alone so it isn't fully gentrified and has a lot of character. It was pretty crowded with only one bartender working for a while so service wasn't zippy, but wasn't bad. They're certainly in the growing pains of opening weeks. The bartender and then the additional one who joined were friendly. I was disappointed that Old Fashioneds were premixed in a jug and just poured into the glass. That sort of lost something from the experience. We tried the "on tap" espresso martinis made with Mezcal instead of Vodka. Interesting, but not very cold. They should go into a shaker before serving for chilling. Overall a good experience that I hope will improve with time. They have a great happy hour M-F (5-7 I think) when all drinks are 1/2 price. I'll be back to check out more drinks soon. read more
