I've been here twice - I really like the atmosphere, it's classy, chill and has some nice music. The wine is great, and they have some really good deals on happy hour. My main complaint is that the oysters were ordered (happy hour on Wednesdays - $1 oysters) were god awful. We ordered a dozen and each ate one and discareded the rest - they were absolutely inedible. The cheese plate, on the other hand, was really delicious and a good value. I'd come back for some wine and cheese when I'm in the neighborhood. I used to live right around the corner from Lelabar. It is one of my favorite wine bars in the city. I like the layout and the oval bar in the middle of the room. It's small, cozy, and intimate. Not the hugest selection of wines, but the wines they do have a great. The bartenders are very helpful and friendly. The small plates, especially the meat and cheese boards are tasty. Great wine bar - most of the seating is in the oval bar seating in the middle, around the bar tenders. The wine list is pretty extensive and while there are few wines by the glass, they will happily open any bottle of wine for you and charge you a by-the-glass price if you order at least two glasses - basically they give you half the bottle and charge you for half the bottle price. Overall, it's a good place to have some conversation over wine, and some charcuterie and/or cheeses. read more

Lelabar is one of my favorite happy hour places in the city. Half price bottles of wine and delicious cheese plates from 5.30-7.30 every day! The atmosphere is always great and the staff are very helpful and friendly, I have no complaints and frequent the wine bar about once a week. Walked past and decided to dine here. There was plenty of seating, but the waiter made us feel guilty for not having a reservation (there were four of us). He sat us nonetheless. The service was pretty prompt, and our food came out fast. However, my issue was the service post our food and drinks. The waiter did not follow up with us. He seemed to be more interested in checking with all the other patrons except us. He did not ask how our meal was or if there was anything else he can get us. We wanted more drinks, but maybe we looked like the type of people (black and Latino) that don't dine there, hence the not asking us if we wanted anything else? Lastly, he left us there with our dirty dishes for the entire time. We were there for about an hour and half. I felt incline to write this review because if you are charging a decent dollar for drinks and food, then the customer service should be on point. Best wine bar I've been to in a long time! You NEED to go to Happy Hour and get the bottle of wine special! Then you NEED to order the meat and cheese platter! This was such a great find in the West Village! My friend and I wanted a casual night out with good wine and Lelabar was the perfect location. It is an intimate setting but you can still feel the good energy from everyone around the oval bar in the center. There was also seating away from the main bar along the wall. It was practically full but never felt crowded. The bartenders were knowledgable and friendly. They recommended a wonderful rosé, my favorite. We didn't order food but we were able to watch the bartenders prepare the cheese boards, etc right in front of us at the bar which was fun. We definitely regret not ordering the watermelon salad because it looked divine. I will most definitely be back. read more

I love Lelabar! I was there a few times and each time I came out happy. The first thing about it for me is the huge bar in the middle; it's like a communal table in a wine bar - it opens the door to many conversations. The bartenders are nice and will take the time to explain about wine and will let you taste several wines until you're happy. Each time I go I drink a different wine and they are great. I love cheese and their cheeses are phenomenal. I also like their small plates; they will not make you feel "heavy full" but will make for a great wine companions and that's what you need. I love the beet Carpaccio, and the truffle polenta is divine. Great place for after work and even if you're by yourself you can feel cozy at Lelabar. read more

WONDERFUL wine bar in the West Village with fantastic service. I had my birthday party here with 25 friends over the weekend it was exaclty what I hoping it'd be. Madeline the manager made the experience (and is the reason we selected Lelabar) she was so warm and welcoming and helpful and extremely attentive the entire night. I live around the corner and have been a few times with my boyfriend. The happy hour menu is amazing. The bartenders are always super friendly and eager to help pick a fun wine to try. This place has a lot to offer. Besides the amazing wine selection, their food is scrumptious. $1 oysters, beds of cheeses and meats, pressed sandwiches and other assorted tapas are perfect pairings for the wines you'll indulge in. While not cheap, the wines are full bodied and the staff is generous in letting you try a host of varieties to find just the right one. While not many are sold by the glass, they do offer to open a bottle if you plan on drinking at least two glasses which never turns out to be a problem. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, very downtown. This was my first time in the wine bar, snuggled in the far West Village. It did have the feel of one of the wine bars down the street from my house, and it felt very cozy and familiar. The set up is an oval bar around the bartenders. They serve beer and all their wines by the glass. In addition they have food, $1 oysters (not sure of the details of the special), and crispy bread with charcuterie/cheese. It looked delicious, but we hit the wine, as we'd already eaten. The prosecco was delicious, and Maha invited me to a pinot rose with delightful bubbles. The place was really affordable, and the ambiance is really nice for a small group or a date. The pours are generous, the tenders are awesome, and we enjoyed our night. I would definitely be back. read more

I love love love Lelabar. I stumbled across it after eating at EN Japanese Brasserie since it's across the street. It's a super cute place with a great wine and cheese selection. It also has a sophisticated yet really low-key atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I also liked the set up of the place--the bar in the center is a large oval and the guests congregate around it, creating a homey, communal feel. Came here on a Friday night at 10ish and it was nicely crowded. I love the layout of this bar... it's a huge oval-shaped bar which takes up the whole place so everyone is sat facing the servers in the middle. It feels communal (a good place to come if you are on your own) yet still can be romantic if you are on a date. The flights for $18 i think (can't remember) of sparkling wines were pretty good deal given you get 3 generous pours of 2 sparkling white and a sparking rose. The meat and cheese are freshly sliced/prepared on the spot in front of you, I need to come back and try them next time! And they do $1 oysters on Wed and Sat only... so next time i'm back here, it would be a Wed or Sat! read more

My husband and I recently stumbled upon Lelabar. This place is awesome. The gorgeous, dark-wood wraparound counter that forms the core of this wine bar encourages communal banter. The wine list is impressive. The sommelier, who curates this list offers a wine flight from the over 150-strong vintage list. Candles and smooth jazz scream set the mood and tone to this place. Small and cozy, but not too tiny, too crowded, nor too reliant on taxidermy décor. Panini sandwiches, cheese-and-charcuterie planks, and exotic chocolates from C&M Chocolatier highlight the small-plates offerings, along with $1.50 oysters on Wednesdays and Sundays. The cutest little wine bar in the neighborhood, hands down. I used to be such a huge fan of Ara, but every time I go in, they never have any of the nosh that's listed on the menu. I start salivating even thinking about those $1 oysters from Lela Bar. Cindy C and I started our girls night out at Lela Bar sipping on happy hour white wines and downing those succulent oysters. We went on a Wednesday night right at 5 PM, there were enough seats for us to sit and there was no wait. We ordered a bottle of white wine from the happy hour menu to pair with our lovely oysters. Seeing the oysters get chucked right in front of you makes the experience so much better. After finishing up the bottle of wine, we decided to order some more food, a salami pressed sandwich. By that time, there all the seats were filled around the center bar. It did take a while for them to make and send us the food, they only had one chef (the guy who chucks oysters and makes all the bar food) working the shift. The salami pressed sandwich was delicious; freshly hot and pressed sandwich with strands of mozzarella separating each slice apart. This was a great accompaniment to the wine and the oysters. I'm not a wine connoisseur or nor do I know that much about it. But the bartenders were super friendly to help us out, I definitely did not get the wine pretentious vibe from them. They really know their wines and were more than willing to advise us. The set up pretty much is a long oval bar with seats around it. My favorite part about lela bar are the wine glasses that are hung upside down from the ceiling.. so chic. I would say it fits approximately 30 people. On a weekend night, it does get a bit busy. I don't think this is the place to go with a big group of people, maybe max 4. I absolutely loved the experience from the decor, the outfits of the bartenders to the food and of course the wine. read more

It's seemingly trying to be very posh yet discrete european--- but I'm not so sure it knows what it's trying to be.
