The owners of Clairemont Coffee have just opened up Lemon Grove coffee in Lemon Grove, San Diego. I stopped in and ordered a cortado and a toasted plain bagel with almond butter with a drizzle of organic honey. The cortado resembled more and went down more like a cappuccino with the extra foam on top that eventually affected the espresso as well. The owner offered offered to remake it, but I declined and removed the foam aside. There will be a next time. The bagel and almond butter combinations were good. They addition of the honey was grand. They offer a variety of baked goods as well. The service was very friendly. They use Talitha, a locally woman owned coffee roaster. Coffee, smoothie and bagels were good. Unfortunately the young lady working at 1pm today (11/8/2025) was not. She had no customer service skills. I questioned what flavor bagels they had and she just pointed to a list taped to the counter. Then when I chose a flavor I was told they didn't have that flavor. I absolutely love this coffee shop. I don't have a go-to order because they always seem to have a good mix of seasonal offerings. I haven't tried their snacks yet, but will definitely soon. I've lived in the area for decades, and every business I've seen in this location has struggled. This place is a stand out business in lemon Grove and I have no doubt they will do great! I had a Caprese sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. I had an iced chai latte, which they were happy to remake for me because it had a little too much cinnamon for my taste (exceptional service with a smile). This coffee shop is so cute! It's around the corner from my sister's house and I always pass it but never stop so today I decided to change that. I ordered the Crème Brûlée Latte and a Breakfast sandwich. The latte wasn't very sweet (which isn't a bad thing), but I did add an extra shot of espresso. The sandwich though....to say it was incredible would be an understatement. It was perfect, and the presentation was beautiful as well. The service was also great and the barista was friendly. Had never been to the area of town so was this gambling on a local place being hopefully great... Was not disappointed! It was very comfortable and had strong wi-fi. It was hopping busy with customers coming in Non-Stop but not overly busy to be crowded. Just a comfortable flow so they obviously have a good following of locals. I started out with ordering an acai bowl which was solid and very enjoyable. Later when I got hungry again I had their lemon Grove club sandwich. It was outstanding. Lots of turkey that was thick cut and flavorful extras with very crisp bacon. The sourdough bread was perfectly toasted to give it the right crunch. Totally excellent. First time here today, I've been wanting to check it out as I just recently moved into the neighborhood this year. I will definitely be coming here more often, the atmosphere is very bright and welcoming. Customer service is on point, I can hear the genuine interactions in the background while reading my book. I can tell the employees put a lot of care and thought into their craft. My Vietnamese coffee style latte was a nice reward for myself on my day off and I didn't have to travel too far to get it. Honestly, I go to this place often and by far this is one of my favorite coffee shops in San Diego. The coffees is good and the food is delicious. However if you're looking for good customer service, this isn't the place. Once I come in, I can feel the energy of the staff is standoffish just by looking at them. Turns out what I feel was true. Despite being a local and a frequent regular, they often seem annoyed at me. Rarely greeting and most of the time giving me the cold shoulder. I really love this place, I don't want to stop coming here due to the attitude some of the baristas can have. If the manager sees this, I suggest making your regular customers feel welcomed at least. The environment and atmosphere of your coffee shop reflects also on your customer service too. It's just uncomfortable and irritating. read more
