The Centre of Tallahassee (former Tallahassee Mall) is now a culinary (and otherwise) ghost town so it's easy to forget about one of our town's better Asian options, Lemongrass, for outstanding Vietnamese, Thai and sushi. We had a great dinner there last night, starting with excellent spring rolls (filled with ground chicken) and terrific Yum Yum Shrimp (large and crispy with a delicious sauce over a bed of chopped lettuce; similar to Bonefish's Bang Bang Shrimp but better). My Drunken Noodles with Shrimp was the best I've had anywhere, with gigantic soft noodles, lots of veggies and large shrimp, perfectly sauces and seasoned. I'd get this again (and again). My wife didn't love her Clay Pot (layers of brown rice, veggies and shrimp), but it improved with some requested extra sauce. Another plus, they serve Proof Brewery's 850 and Mango Wit on tap -- in a 16 oz glass. Perfect to wash everything down. Also, FYI, Lemongrass serves the best Bahn Mi sandwiches in town (and just $6). read more

I've been to Lemongrass quite a few times. They definitely have the best pho in town. Their pho has a clean but delectable taste that doesn't rely too heavily on aromatics (even though normally I do love strong spices in my pho). There's a multitude of options to pair with the pho broth, including several vegan/vegetarian options. The price for the pho might seem high, but you cannot beat the value - I'm always pleasantly stuffed after eating here! Even when I ordered their pho for takeout, their portions were equally generous. Their vermicelli salad is also delicious. The chicken that accompanied the noodles was cooked to perfection and the fish sauce brought everything on the plate together. The last item I've had here was their chicken curry. It tasted good but the butter flavor dominated the dish too much in my opinion. Overall, I can't recommend Lemongrass enough (especially their pho)! read more

Location I like, the tallahassee MALL. The service is always decent and the servers always polite and timely with the food. Usually the dishes are delish made with fresh ingredients. But recently they've been serving rice that's not as fresh as the rest of the meal. Anyone can tell if rice is stale. I understand not wanting the throw out rice, my wife is Asian, and we don't make a new batch until the previous is eaten. I was looking for a good Thai spot in Tally. I looked at their website for the menu and ordered ahead. Their menu online had my chicken drunken noodle for dinner as $13. However when I picked my food up it was $15. I pointed this out to one of the staff and she apologized but did not correct the price. Hard find it is the middle of shopping plaza. I spent 20 minutes driving around the shopping plaza to find it. Ok food. I got carry out of fried dumplings, Vietnamese Spring Rolls and Pad See Ew noddles. The fried dumplings were way over cooked hardly any filling. The spring rolls are good. The pad see ew very small portion the chicken was extremely hard a not good to the point I picked out. The only plus was these are nice wide noddles unlike any other Thai places I've try in Tallahassee. They other unique is the noddles are rolled that kind of fun. I think for Size of portion of the Pad See Ew is pricey. The Appetizers are well priced and you can try several. The food was hot and well pack for pickup. This is a very local joint for me. I am very grateful for that. I have visited enough, by now, to have a real understanding of the place. Most customers of this Asian fusion joint are Asian. That, American friends, is an endorsement. Nearly all our fellow diners, this rainy night were chatting in non-english. That is a gift in this southern town! Tonight, we opted for Japanese style sushi and Vietnamese style Pho and Bhan mi. The sushi(rice) was perfect, veggies crisp and balanced and tempura shrimp fantastic! My Bhan mi came with a fantastic baguette; crispy crust with a tender center to accompany veg and meat. My Pho had a sublime broth, perfect accompaniment of jalepenos, mung bean sprouts, lime and basil. I chose brisket and meatball. Glad I did. My companion devoured the sushi rolls so fast, we ordered another round of wine , though I still sipped on my saki. If you love Asian food; this is one helluva place to claim! When I came to Lemongrass I had no idea what to order because everything on the menu sounded SO good! I had a really tough time choosing. Finally, I decided on the Panang Curry after a recommendation from the waitress. It exceeded my expectations, I would go back today and eat it again if I could. It was the perfect amount of spicey, creamy and didn't have an overpowering curry flavor. My bowl and plate were completely clean, I don't think I left one grain of rice! There were so many vegetables in it and huge pieces of chicken. It couldn't have been more delicious. I also ordered the egg drop soup and it was one of the best I've ever had. The way the egg was prepared was different from what I'm used to, instead of strands of egg throughout the soup it was one large piece of scrambled egg that I cut into smaller pieces with the spoon. Perfect day for pho! And it's all you can eat Pho Sunday. Chicken or beef or both, your choice. Buffet included with a good selection of dishes, salad with ginger dressing two kinds of curry, sesame chicken, beef with broccoli, lomein noodles and sushi. Coconut cake for dessert. The pho is very good with generous portions of meat and noodles. I can only polish up one pho bowl because it was already deliciously filling! When I lived in San Diego I was introduced to Pho & I've been to some pretty good places. It's been a while since I've had Pho & w/ family friend in town we chose Lemongrass - mostly b/c it was nearby. The menu from the website looked good & had some of my favs. The ambiance inside was much nicer than I expected & I remembered another friend saying they enjoyed it a while back. We ordered the summer roll w/ shrimp & ham but since neither of us had ever ham on a summer roll we asked if it could be removed. The menu also mentioned 'herbs' in the summer roll - that's usually mint and/or cilantro. We also each ordered Thai tea & pho w/ eye round. The waitress was nice enough but... I'm not sure if she's new to this restaurant, or waitressing, but there were a few faux pas that occurred with her service that we couldn't help but notice. First, when our summer rolls arrived (there were 2 on the plate w/ a small side of peanut sauce & a squirt of sriracha) she never brought extra plates for us to so we had to hope we didn't spill anything on the table. The rolls were haphazardly put together - normally the 2 pieces of shrimp can be seen side by side under the rice paper on top of the roll & the shrimp are a decent size. My roll the shrimp were stuffed at one end, a bit smaller than normal. Also there appeared to be another meat (think it was a Vietnamese meatball slice) inside. The vermicelli noodles were still warm - that I found interesting b/c I've never had them warm, and it made the rice paper a bit chewy but not unpalatable. However, there was no mint - just lettuce - inside so I'm not sure what 'herbs' they used. That was the most disappointing b/c that's what makes it better. Our Thai tea was good, but we both felt like something was different than Thai teas we've had - I'm not sure if they used sweetened condensed milk, of it was the brand of Assam tea they used - idk. Again, it was good just slightly different. Oh & we had to ask for straws - I can't remember if the waitress had run out of straws or just plain forgot. The Pho was good - the broth was tasty. I had ordered extra cilantro but neither of us was sure which bowl had extra. The plate of basil, lime, jalapeño & sprouts: basil leaves were kinda on the small side, nice juicy lime & decent looking sprouts - I use very little jalapeños. You could tell the slices of meat had just been placed in the hot broth as I could see mine still just a bit pink when the bowl arrived. But... we had to ask for chopsticks. My noodles were clumped in the bottom of my bowl so I'm not sure if they use prepackaged noodles or they cooked them prior to putting our bowls together & they clumped (that happens to me when I making spaghetti at home some times & I leave the noodles out of water too long). I normally take the rest of my soup home but I didn't this time - mostly b/c I had too many leftovers. Overall, it was just meh - guess I'll have to try one of the other places in town. read more

Everytime before I go to AMC cinema, I go ​here to have dinner first, so it is like every two weeks. Perfect location for AMC fans. Food is great, love the fried rice and summer roll here, and the new Korean​ chicken​ wings are​ the best! Awesome sour-chili kimchi flavor, even though my Korean​ friends have no idea what that is lol. I personally love it. The departure of Far East Cuisine left a (pho) king-sized hole in my soul, which Lemongrass has begun to fill one bowl at a time. The pho (with brisket and flank) was a huge portion, complete with all the accoutrements: fresh bean sprouts, jalapeño, etc. Delicious broth, though the flavors seem a bit more subtle than expected. 6/5 The kamikaze roll was nothing spectacular. Good, not great. The layer of sauces atop the roll muddled the flavor and freshness of the fish, rice, and vegetables. This place is amazing!! I recommend the Pho Special, the Vietnamese Spring Rolls, the American Dream Sushi roll and the Saigon chicken wings. We had ours delivered and the portion for the Pho was impressive. I will be eating the left overs today. And the broth, meat, and toppings are sooooo delicious and fresh. I have been coming here regularly for years after they moved from their old location in Carriage Gate. Have to admit, I order the same choices off their menu. For one thing, I know for sure what I'm getting, and it's become a comfortable habit, and since Lemongrass is so close to my house, it's fast and easy to pick up. The Pork Bahn Mi is my go to, instead of a Hamburger, and the Meatball Pho is my comfort Chicken Noodle Soup. My other favorites are the Thai Spicy Beef Salad, Coconut Soup and Vegetable Spring Rolls. The Vietnamese Rice with Pork and an Egg is also consistently good. The service and ambiance here is fine, and even though I order out almost every week or so, I like meeting my girlfriends here for lunch, and have introduced quite a few of them to Lemongrass and Vietnamese cuisine. I was always a big fan of Far East Cuisine - and Lemongrass (the same folks, in a more upscale setting) continues to be TLH's best Viet cuisine. Bò kho (Beef Stew) has been "my thing" for a while now and the Beef Stew here is sublime. Go Google Bò kho for yourself - check out some of the vids / recipes. Just know that the Beef Stew here is addictively good. I wish I could manage to order something other than the Bò kho when I come here - but I'm not there yet. (In fact, I haven't ordered the Pho yet - I'm pretty sure it's still every bit as good as it was at Far East Cuisine...). I would love to see Larb on the menu - but if it's there, it's under an anglicized name (maybe the spicy beef salad? - but the pineapples don't line up - so I don't know...). I also wish that tripe and tendon were Pho options - but unless they're under the "special" Pho, they're not. I understand most gringos aren't going to jump up and down for either - but they're delectable options. Sunday features a buffet. Personally, I'm not big on "AYCE Pho" because I figure that a dinner-sized portion of Pho is "AYCE" for me anyway! - There are other items on the buffet though. The buffet WAS the solid option for several of the kids when we have come. So... if a modest buffet line is your thing, then yes - come on Sundays. But - back to the Bò kho (Beef Stew)... It is SOOOO Good. Let me go on and on about it for a spell... 1. All five flavor profiles end up in your mouth. That's right - this is a quintuple flavor-bomb featuring Sweet, Salty, Sour, Bitter AND Umami. 2. Whenever the first Vietnamese place in Tallahassee opens up for breakfast (hint, hint) as well as lunch/dinner, sign me up for ordering Bò kho for breakfast. After all, "back in the old country", Bò kho is breakfast food anyway - although increasingly, Vietnamese have it throughout the day. 3. You can order it here with either rice, noodles OR baguette. Go with the baguette. Think about it... 4. The Bò kho is SOOOO Good. We came to check this new place out for dinner on the Friday of the soft opening. It was mostly empty and we were immediately greeted and seated. We just just drank water, but looked at the drink menu. I think they only have bottle beers, a white wine and a red wine, and of course saki. They had a big selection of boba teas that were tempting. We started off with an order of spring rolls. They came out at nearly the same time as the entrees, but they tasted good. My husband ordered the drunken noodles. They would not win a beauty pageant, but tasted okay. I ordered the massaman curry. My first bite had a hair on it. I still ate my dish. Don't judge me. I liked the flavor of the curry, I just wish it had more sauce. Overall, we felt like the food would be a strong option for satisfying Thai/Vietnamese takeout. I never knew this place existed until a friend mentioned it to me, shoutout to Reagan! It's kind of hidden behind a plaza in an area with a cobblestone road, and if Trevor wasn't driving we probably would've gotten lost trying to find it. I think that the atmosphere in here is great for a dinner date. I was really intrigued by the drink menu, especially the Thailand Tea which is like a long island iced tea but with a creamy thai tea. They currently have a buy one get one half off for cocktails and draft beers for the time being, but the BOGO only applies to drinks in the same category. The thailand tea was very tasty, but I could tell it was the server's first time making it because it was on the strong side (not that I'm complaining). Trevor is a huge fan of Vietnamese sausages (the perfect balance between sweet and savory), so when he saw that the Vietnamese Fried Rice had them he knew what he wanted. He thought that the fried rice was pretty standard. I had the Special Pho, which had the classic meats like meatball, flank, and brisket. If you're looking for really authentic pho with things like tripe, this is not the place. However, the serving here is absolutely massive and the soup was nice. I thought that the bean sprouts and herbs served with the pho looked a bit wilted, but it was nothing major and they still were a very good addition to the meal. I didn't think that the broth was very flavorful, but I mixed hoisin sauce and sriracha in and it was tasty like that. I think that Lemongrass was the best Vietnamese that I've had in town so far, but I've had better. Maybe 3 stars for the food, but the unique drink options bump this place up to a 4 for me. The drinks weren't very big and they were expensive. We noticed that for a Friday night, hardly anyone was there. The menu looked very expensive for what you would. Prices are reasonable and the selection is great much like it was at Far East. I had the Penang Coconut Curry and it was excellent. My wife had the Thai Sweet and Sour Stir Fry with chicken. She was also a big fan. Good portion sizes. We also had the shrimp and ham Summer Roll and it was fresh and very tasty with the peanut sauce. The service was also great, thanks to Jacob. If I have any concern at all, it is the location and how well the Centre of Tallahassee navigates the future. If they can stick it out and grow, good things will happen. If the traffic I saw tonight was any indication of where it's going, I am worried. Lemongrass was my go to spot for pho but not anymore. I had ordered my pho with eye round and brisket and it came out to be eye-round and vegetables. There had been a miscommunication on what type of toppings I wanted in my pho but I was okay with it. What rubbed me the wrong way was when they had sent the bowl back, they gave me the SAME bowl just without the vegetables. A family member recommended we try this restaurant as we are from out of town. After eating the meal, I was beginning to wonder if perhaps we had gotten the name of the restaurant wrong. I think they may be struggling with getting enough employees. There was an employment sign at the hostess stand which was unmanned. It appeared that there were just two servers for the entire restaurant, no bartender, and no hostess. We waited longer than usual for someone to notice us standing at the hostess stand. After being seated we watched a family come in and leave because no one came to greet and seat them. Someone else came to sit at the bar (there's a cocktail menu so it seems like they want people to come to the bar to sit), but again no one came to take the customer's order, so she left as well. I felt bad for the servers who seemed to be racing around being several positions at once - hostess, server, busser, bartender... The servers, when they were able to visit out table, were friendly. Not sure if there was a manager there. The menu is definitely trying to appeal to many tastes of Asian cuisine - Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. In my opinion two of the dishes we ordered - cashew chicken and beef with broccoli were mediocre at best, bordering on bad tasting. The two Chinese dishes had more of a Thai seasoning flavor. I make cashew chicken at home and this was the most unusual preparation of it I have ever seen. My daughter, who loves cashew chicken, ate one or two bites and then just ate the cashews out of it so as to not completely waste her meal, but I know it was a struggle with the odd flavor of the sauce. The red curry was good and tasted similar to a red curry dish we enjoy from a Thai restaurant at home. We had an order a spring rolls which were fine as well, but not memorable. I'm wondering if this restaurant is trying to appeal to too many palates and should focus on perhaps just one or two, perhaps Thai and Vietnamese. No one wanted to take any leftovers. Went there a month ago for my chosen "favorite place" for my birthday meal. Wanted to introduce my family to the restaurant as they had never been. Horrible service - horrible food, horrible atmosphere. I was shocked and embarrassed. One member of my party asked about the pineapple fried rice and was told not to get it because it was salty. We ordered appetizers which arrived after the meal. None of our meals were served together, I was done with mine before my brother's even arrived. I ordered my usual curry and asked for a side of the chili oil - it was put in the curry instead and yet the curry was still bland. The bread was not even close to fresh, and others in my party said the food was "fine, but not great." I don't understand how it could be this bad after I had several great lunches here. I was told by a friend that dinner service wasn't great and now I believe it. I complained through their website and never received a response - this bad experience was enough for me to not come back - even for my usual lunch. We were pretty amused by one thing - our waiter kept asking us if we wanted to-go cups for our water, enough times for it to become an inside joke for us. I'm sorry to say that between the food, the service, and the lack of response from management has made this restaurant on my "no-go" list. Let me first preface this review by saying I've never actually dined here. I've always picked-up or gotten delivery. Now that that's over with, let it be know that I'm a pretty loyal customer of Lemongrass. They probably don't know it because Bite Squad's always there on my behalf, haha. Their Thai coconut soup is probably in my top 5 soups of all-time and I'm honestly not a big soup fan (because I'm a big baby when it comes to hot liquids). When my parents were in town, my dad had a craving for pho and I, naturally, had Lemongrass delivered. He loved it and tried his best to finish it all, but who doesn't love leftovers? Their pad Thai is fantastic and every roll I've ever had was enjoyable. My boyfriend and I probably order from here at least two times a month. (We work a lot, don't judge us. Lol.) Extremely small portion for the pork chop with rice. Only 4oz of meat total on 1 tiny pork chop. It has no flavor and is extremely dry and tough. The curry we got we decent but it did not come with basil as described on the menu. We had to ask for it and received a tiny amount. The mochi was $8 for 3 pieces and tastes like it came from H Mart. Stick with their pho and don't get anything complicated here. They are very cheap with ingredients. read more

I love this restaurant. There are some amazing deals at lunch! But dinner is the sweet spot. The phô is perfect. The bûn flavors and textures always delight. If you've never had it, please do- you will not be disappointed. The chicken is perfectly flavored, the dressing has that sweet tang that is particular to bûn.
