When I have a poor dining experience, I typically just won't leave a review but this was extreme so I feel compelled to share our experience. We were greeted and seated immediately. Apps came out quickly and were decent. We were off to a good start. Then it came time to order entrees and things went off the rails. We are primarily English speaking. The staff was primarily Spanish speaking. But because we can point and I have good Spanish pronunciation, this should not have been an issue. It's worked every time before. Much confusion ensued about what we'd ordered. My husband received a salad with NO lettuce when in fact he ordered enchiladas. I ordered a chicken dish that came out correct BUT the chicken was clearly cooked some time ago and reheated and either the cheese or crema on top had gone rancid. Nothing like potential food poisoning! Then, at the end of the night, my husband had to argue to get them to remove the no lettuce salad (that we did not order) from the bill. Lempira is located off Eastway Blvd/Tryon. They have their own parking lot with free parking. We were are party of four and were seated immediately. Fernanda was our waitress. Nothing about the restaurant is super special or stood out to me. My opinion changed when the food and drinks came out. The presentation and portion size was impressive along with the food being seasoned to perfection. I definitely would come back here or order on DoorDash. read more

THIEVES! I work around the corner and went in about a month ago to have a drink and light lunch after work. The place was empty, dirty, dark, the waitresses standing around were absolutely gorgeous but their personalities didn't reflect this. I sat at the bar and asked for a tequila and pineapple juice and had two street tacos (no beans, no extras at all). I didn't ask for the price of the drink because you kinda know the ballpark price of one shot and a small can of juice. When I got my check I was appalled! It was $57! The manger wasn't in and I asked the waitress and bartender why it was so high and they charged me $35 for the drink leaving the price of the tacos at $22!!!! I'm not going to argue with a teenager about something she couldn't change and decided to pay and call manager later. Manager was rude and condescending even BEFORE o said I could've bought an entire bottle of tequila and the ingredients for two tacos at that price. Refund wasn't offered nor a discount. And I'm reading reviews that this THIEVERY is standard! YOU ARE CROOKS AND YOU STEAL PEOPLES MONEY RAISING PRICES AND ADDING TIPS TO BILLS WITHOUT INFORMING CUSTOMERS. You should be held accountable and I'm going to do everything I can to see if there is some mind of LEGAL ACTION I can take. It's not the money now, it's the principle. You think you can rob people? Great little restaurant. I wanted to try a locally owned restaurant and the food was great here. It looks to have taken over an old fast food restaurant, but I was surprised the food was presented so nicely and so tasty. I got enchiladas and had enough for left overs. We also tried the bean and cheese pupusa. The blackberry agua fresca was realllly good. There was a bit of a language barrier- pretty sure they typically serve spanish speaking locals, but we didnt have bad service or trouble ordering. Wow! Lempira is amazing and love the authentic and diverse menu options. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner and excited to try out some of the other dishes on our future visits. Must have the fried tamale for an appetizer and a cheese puposa. Also loved the carne Asada mexicana. My husband ordered the chimichanga. He said that it's the best he's ever had. Met one of my students here on this past Thursday evening for her to practice her Spanish. It was the first time visiting for both of us. I am a true believer of not judging a book by its cover, so don't expect it to look like Ruth Chris on the outside. To start this review off properly, I must say, two things that are definite when choosing to eat here... 1) Expect to speak Spanish. 2) The food is Uhmazeballs!!! I had the Tacos Mixtos (shrimp taco, carnitas taco, chorizo taco, steak taco) along with the arroz amarillo & fijoles enteros (had to add as sides because the tacos mixtos doesn't include sides. My client had the tacos de pollo with a side of plátanos maduros (not included). Let me just say, the amount of food you receive for the price is insane!!! Sooooo much food! I literally thing they gave me an entire can of beans on my plate! The food was extremely fresh and at a great temperature. If you frequent LTAM restaurants, then you know the waitstaff pretty much doesn't helicopter over your table, so expect to be left alone before, during, & after you meal. The food was good, thank god...the place felt dirty and disorganized. There were a lot of servers bunched up by the cashier, we got seated next to the bar area thats why we could see the mayhem up close.. our table was uncomfortable, you could only sit on one side, something wrong with it, check it out before starting the day, to make sure clients are comfortable. The management needs to be trained and train the servers to be better waiters, they were kind of nice.. we've been to the other two, and are much much nicer, cleaner and organized. Since my last review, I've continued to eat here and have been extremely impressed. I've tried the baleadas, carne asada, pupusas, and breakfast specials. The food is kind of like Mexican food but with some added ingredients that are more characteristic of Caribbean food. The only problem, and it's a good problem, is that the portions are huge. Some of the negative reviews focus on the poor customer service and the language barrier. However, this is a restaurant whose customers mostly speak Spanish, so the language barrier is not surprising. read more

Sorry to say that I am not as enamored with the place as other reviews. Absolutely no one in the place spoke enough English to communicate - Even when I just pointed at the picture in the menu. The young, - very young, waitress approached my table with a lollipop in her mouth and didn't even attempt to determine what I wanted, including a real live server. We ordered through postmate and the restaurant, lempira, forgot to make our steak burrito order. I called to see if they can do anything about it and the girl say to come and pick up the steak burrito when she knows I ordered delivery. I asked to see if she can refund my money back however she proceeded with suggesting to pick up the food. Also the chicken enchilada was dry and there were only few pieces of chicken served. read more

I've been to Lempira twice now and both times I was completely satisfied. This time I had Baleada #5. Baleada is Honduran and is made up of a flour tortilla with beans, cheese, steak, sour cream and topped with avocado. It was really good! The tortilla was my favorite part because you can't find amazing authentic flour tortillas just anywhere. The price was a plus, in total the dish was about $6. read more

The servers are all friendly, the menu is extensive and has something for everyone, and most importantly the food is always absolutely delicious. Extensive menu. Modern decor. Food presentation was great and the food was delicious and flavorful. Nonetheless, the customer service fails. Our initial sever did not speak/comprehend English. When my friend asked for a Margarita the server repeatedly said "No" without any explanation and we concluded that they do not serve liquor. Due to the language barrier and server's inability to answer our questions about the menu, we received a new server. She arrived with an indifferent attitude and exhibited deplorable customer service skills. We ordered queso and the server returned to tell us that the cook said they had ran out and he wasn't going to make more because it was near closing. My friend ordered a fajita and a taco salad and instead received a fajita like taco salad. Upon my friend's inquiry about her fajita, the server went back and forth with her about the order instead of offering to correct it. When we were leaving, we did not receive a farewell greeting or thank you upon exit although there were three employees standing at the front entrance. the worst restaurant: i asked the waitress if i can use the $25.00 gift certificate from restaurant.com ( before i order the food ) and she said that lempira restaurant will accept it. i will have to spend at least $37.50 or more so i can use it. i proceed to order: beverages, appetizers, two dinners and desert. the food took over 20 minutes to be served. when the waitress came with the ticket she indicated that i can't use the gift certificate. when i talked to the manager and explain to her that the waitress told me that i can use the certificate, her respond was that the gift certificate doesn't look like the right one...can you believe it !!! that's why i asked the waitress before i ordered the food...otherwise i wouldn't order food. because the waitress stupidity and lack of training i had to pay $45.00 without the $25.00 discount. the manager was no profesional at all and have extremely poor customer service skills. it was not my fault that the waitress gave me the wrong information when she told me that i can use the gift certificate. i strongly will not recommend this restaurant !!! the restaurant need to hire new staff: manager and train the waitress so they will not give an extremely and poor service to customers !!! don't waste your time and money in this awfull place !!! read more
