Side of sausage links were good, sort of your standard diner sausage. The danish basket was a nice touch with a handful of tasty different goodies. And the 4 pancakes that came with the hearty breakfast were such a decent size, they could be a meal on their own! We happened to be in the area and needed a place to grab breakfast. We drove by Lenny's and thought it looked like a promising breakfast spot because the parking lot was full. It could not hurt to try. The menu is HUGE. So many choices. While we perused the menu, our server was quick to bring us coffee and a basket of complimentary danishes and quick breads. I had never been to a restaurant that offered that AND each person got their own basket of goodies! I got one of their Outrageous Omelettes and my husband got the Corned Beef Hash. There was so much food. We barely made a dent in our plates and ended up taking food home. When we are back in the area, we will definitely return to Lenny's! read more

Diners are one of the things I miss most about living in Jersey and Long Island. I love the idea of Lenny's more than the long wait and lack of parking -- tip, shoot for 1:30 or 2 when visiting on weekends. The crowd isn't as bad during their last hour of operation. I've only ordered omelettes, but I finally got a matzo ball soup to go and it was delicious. Service is hit or miss like with every restaurant. Love me some Lenny's. This was my first deli in the Tampa Bay / St. Pete area and it was all that and a bag of chips. First off if you are a Philadelphia Phillies fan this is the place for you. I spoke with one of the waitresses who said the owner are from New Jersey and that the Clearwater Threshers (the Minor League Baseball team of the Florida State League and the Single-A affiliate of the Phillies). I had to go with the classic "The New York" - lox and a toasted sesame seed bagel - with the usual suspects - cream cheese, red onion, tomato and capers. It was divine. But wait there's more! It comes with an assortment of danish type delight bites.(I took them home to nosh). The service was down right what I would want at a deli and the atmosphere had just the right amount of kitsch (and Philly decor to boot!). Other Yelp reviews got us intrigued by Lenny's and we gave it a shot. We weren't disappointed, in fact, as we were leaving we were already planning on when we'll be back! The service we experienced the entire time we were in the restaurant was fabulous. Everyone was very welcoming regardless if they were our server. Lenny's starts you off with an individual bowl of pastries/breads that were delicious and served with homemade cinnamon butter. The mini danish was the perfect size to enjoy a little something without ruining my appetite for my main meal. (We took most of the items home and enjoyed them later.) My husband and I both had specials that didn't disappoint. He had the seafood omelet with a great balance of flavors. His meal came with two sides. He picked the jalapeño bacon based on our server's recommendation. It was crispy with the right amount of heat. For his other side, he got the pumpkin pancakes so I could try them (other Yelp reviewers recommended). The stack was delicious and came with more of the cinnamon butter. I had the Breakfast Wellington. It had a base of potato wedges with chorizo and cheese wrapped in a puff pastry...topped with a fried egg and sausage gravy. The flavor was great and no one item overwhelmed the dish. Let's just say I came nowhere near finishing my meal! OK, I admit I made myself stop eating so I wasn't stuffed. Don't worry, the other half of the Wellington and pancakes didn't go to waste. I enjoyed them for breakfast the next day. Lenny's is the kind of place you go to when you have an appetite or you can bring leftovers home to enjoy later. Okay so when something claims to be the best breakfast in Clearwater, I had to try it. Plus, the pumpkin pancakes were calling my name. Came in around 9 am on a Friday so no waiting, we were seated and waited on quickly. They bring a pastry basket, which has some cinnamon pastries that are okay, and lemon poppyseed bread that for me was the star of the basket. I could've eaten a few more pieces of that one. I ordered the bacon sampler combo with scrambled eggs and upgraded to pumpkin pancakes. The bacon sampler comes with four kinds of bacon. I loved the heat on the jalapeño bacon, though the regular bacon was just so so, and the turkey bacon was blah. The eggs weren't seasoned at allll. However, the pumpkin pancakes redeemed my meal. They had tons of flavor and come with cinnamon butter - yum! Also, the portion is huge with three plate sized pancakes. Would come back just for those and a side of jalapeño bacon. read more

Wanted to take the family somewhere special and I'm so glad we went to Lenny's. We arrived at 9am on a Sunday and were told it would be a 20 minute wait. Five minutes later, they called our name! We were quickly seated and greeted by our server, Krison (sp?). She was extremely patient (we were dining with a 3 and 4 year old) and very attentive. She helped me order food for my husband and sons and even offered suggestions. We all ate so well. My boys had pancakes and bacon, hubby had the corned beef hash and I had the Reuben. And YES, we had the basket of danishes and they were so good! Tons of delicious hot food was served quickly and extremely reasonable at $40! We were really looking forward to our visit. Especially being Pride week in this area. We have a service animal- walked in with love is live all over the outside, so beautiful. We came in because our girls were excited for the a fun energy. When we walked in he said no pets- i shared he was a service animal and he said only seeing eye dogs. The owner discriminated against us and made me feel extremely uncomfortable until my husband intervened. Ruined the entire vibe and my morning. I love a family own business and they've been here for years. They're are doing something right. The staff feels like a nice warm blanket. They are super nice and attentive. Doesn't look like much from the road but the line around the entrance should be a clue that there is GREAT FOOD inside. We went for breakfast on a Sunday and it was busy. In spite of the crowd we were seated quickly, they're organized and move customers efficiently. We sampled latkes, eggs, home fries, biscuits and gravy and other breakfast staples. Everything was hot and delicious. Even the applesauce was special on the potato pancakes. I visited Lenny's for the first time after hearing great things from friends and was eager to finally experience it for myself. Unfortunately, the visit did not live up to the hype. I ordered an omelet with cheese and sausage, which came with a Danish tray and two sides. The waitress assisted me in adjusting my order to include hashbrowns and a waffle substitution. I will say the Danish tray was a nice touch, and the waffle was well-prepared. However, the omelet was a disappointment--it contained only a tiny lump of cheese, no bigger than a marble, and a couple of pieces of sliced sausage links. I even showed the waitress how little cheese was in it. She offered to have someone speak with me but ultimately, she went and confirmed that the kitchen uses 2 ounces of cheese per omelet, suggesting mine must have melted out--meaning there was no real resolution. Beyond the food quality, I noticed bottles of hot sauce for sale featuring the First Felon pictured on the label. While businesses are free to express their views, I personally prefer not to support establishments that align with fringe political movements. Coincidentally, there was an extra $0.50 per egg surcharge at the time which was hilarious to me considering business' support of the Orange Felon. Between the lackluster food, the indifferent service, and the establishment's apparent political leanings, I won't be returning. read more
