How have I been sleeping on this place?? Just got back from an awesome Friday night at Lenox, highly recommend. Food: We were thrilled with everything, including the beef empanada they sent out just because. Mofongo: prawns with mashed plantain and a broth to die for Pollo al Carbon: chicken with the right amount of smokiness and sauce Coco Greens: hands down some of the best greens and potlikker we've ever had Tostones - couldn't stop eating these Red Beans and Rice - perfectly cooked Service: outstanding from the host to our server Marcus to all the staff. It's friendly, comfortable and fun Ambience: Most of the tables turned over during our 6:15pm dinner but we were never rushed and while the restaurant was full, it never felt too crowded or loud. I was extremely excited to try this restaurant with my partner but the food was not good at all. The food is insured by Cuban and Puerto Rican/Nuyurican dishes. I have had my fair share of visits to NY but clearly need to trying the PR food there and also need to prioritize going straight to PR as well. Ive had the food in Cuba and this was nothing close to that so, let move on. We had the Pollo al Carbon, Coco Greens and Hushpuppies. For drinks we had the Rhude Boy and Sandia. The Pollo al Carbon was not good at all. The chicken was smoked (dry) and the sauce underneath it taste like nothing. The veggies and potatoes were good though! The Hushpuppies tasted more like cinnamon and were simply not good. The Coco Greens tasted like kelp and coconut milk. Service was also decent! Our server was kind and friendly despite us returning the first thing that came out, the Hushpuppies. The drinks were made and sat for about 5mins after the bartender made them while our server was stocking silverware. Despite the food being nasty and the drinks taking some time to be served, I appreciated that they included gratuity for the sake of supporting staff. After the pandemic, Caribbean food in Seattle mostly meant Jamaican. Puerto Rican food almost vanished. The Belltown space where Lenox now sits used to house Jerk Shack before they moved to the Central District with a more casual takeout concept. So Lenox is now holding that corner. Lenox is a Newyorican spot out of Harlem. Puerto Rican vibe, bodega energy, Puerto Rican flag up proudly like it should be. Service was great. They let us try their piña colada, and when I asked about pitorro (Puerto Rican moonshine) the bartender brought out a sample of a batch they're working on. Already good, still aging it properly. Food is tapas style. Authentic flavor with a modern spin. The pernil came more like crispy chicharrón chunks rather than the slow roasted island style pork. Different, but tasty. Portions are small if you're trying to build a full meal, so it can get a little pricey. Tostones and alcapurrias were solid. Some seasoning leans slightly Americanized, but still good. Dessert was donut pillows filled with vanilla cream and guava. Ask for extra guava sauce and more cream. If you watched the Super Bowl halftime where Puerto Rico showed up loud and proud, you'll appreciate the vibe here. It's another Caribbean voice in Seattle's food scene. Amazing vibe, amazing food, and amazing service. We're in the neighborhood, so have seen this place absolutely pop off since opening! It's definitely more up there in price but reasonably so- everything is top tier. Had a reason to celebrate so we stopped in- got a rezzy for a Friday night (the time slots definitely filled up, but it looked like there was room at the bar intermittently). Our server was so cheery and kind! We got bubbles on the house on account of celebration which was such a pleasant surprise! Then the food- dude the food. It's tapas style so we got a platos pequenos (app), platos grandes (entree), and platos al last (side) to share. The half chicken, incredibly smokied, seasoned, and blackened. So saucy we ordered rice on the side (a rec by our server) and that was 100% the right move. The alcapurria was maybe our fave- fried plantain with spicy beefy innards, divine. We had dinner here for a bachelorette party! The staff were awesome, so friendly and happy to have us there! There were 10 of us, we ordered 1 of each of the entrees and sides plus a Caesar salad. Grabbed a 7PM reservation for a Friday night pretty easily, but this was before it made Bon Appetit's list of best new restaurants in the US. The restaurant was fairly busy (~70% capacity), but you could definitely still walk- in, especially if you didn't mind sitting at the bar. Overall, I'd say the food is definitely solid and Caribbean fair is quite hard to find in the city, but the pricing is quite high especially for the portion sizes. Not a dish, but their seasonal agua fresca was a home run - refreshing and not too sweet. Lechon (3.75/5): The mustard added a great bit of tang and sharpness to the crunchy, fatty lechon. I just wanted the meat to be a bit more tender. The rice also felt a bit undercooked and bland, but the braised greens were actually delicious. Tostones (4/5): Flavors were great, especially the green mojo sauce was super bright and herby. The tostones themselves were nicely salted, but I wanted them to be a little more crispy on the outside. Ceviche (3.5/5): The ceviche was balanced of sweet and savory, but the fish itself to me was just okay. I just wanted all the flavors to be amped up a bit more. Mofongo (3.75/5): There were only a couple prawns and the chicharron got a bit soggy, resulting in a bit of an odd chewy texture. On our mini stacation we were staying in Belltown. I stumbled upon an article that a Belltown restaurant, Lenox was recently named by Bon Appétit magazine as a top 20 new restaurants in America. I looked into it and was able to somehow get a reservation. Man it was great! Their specialty is Afro-Caribbean food. This picture is of Mofungo and Tostones with Mojo sauce. We also had a great Pollo al Carbon. The bar has their own rum blends, so I had a couple of Rum and Cokes with their rum blend. The rum tasted just like a Puerto Rican rum my good friend from Puerto Rico turned me on to many years ago, Ron del Barrilito. We came for Father's Day brunch and were lucky enough to snag a reservation. We've been missing good Puerto Rican Food since La Isla closed years ago. Lenox matched the food quality with even better vibes. Amazing food anyone can appreciate, even if you've only heard about Malta and Mofongo in "First time in San Juan". Create takes with integrity on the classics. Best of all, the service was warm, fast and friendly. They genuinely seemed so excited to share island food and hospitality! Fancy enough for a hot girl brunch or celebration, down-to-earth enough to take the family on a week night (our 3 kids loved it). My boyfriend urged me to leave a 1 star review, but I felt the service was good and the drink was decent so I'm leaving 2 stars. The hush puppies and acapurria were boring. There was no good flavor profile. The acapurria was oddly sweet, just made it a little off putting. The pork belly in the lechon was good, but it is really hard to mess up pork belly. The issue we had with this dish is it was insanely salty/vinegary. It was covered in this mustard sauce that could be decent if it wasn't so insanely overpowering. Needs to be toned down with something else. The pickled cabbage also made it extra salty. The rice and sauce underneath was good. I thought the collard greens were decent but my boyfriend said he couldn't even eat them. We were surprised that the piña colada was unlike any piña colada we've ever had. They use coconut water rather than coconut milk. I thought it was good, but we were expecting a regular piña colada so it's just not as good as we were expecting. That's more on us though! probably one of the most amazing meals I have ever eaten . Went with five other women. Food was served family style so we were all able to try basically almost everything on the menu. Designer drinks, appetizers, main dishes, and dessert. Every dish - every drink, all fantastic. Chicken, steak, pork, all fantastic the flavors I've never had anything like it. There was not one thing we tried that wasn't over the top Michelin grade! The photos does not do it JUSTICE! I am so terrible at taking photos. No photos can capture the flavor it came with!! We were so blown away by the flavor. The fish was topped with this sweet light pineapple sauce and the green sauce underneath just balanced it so perfectly. It was not spicy like I thought it was going to be. The sweet potato was cooked so perfectly, the caramelized skin on top was perfect. The portion for this was a bit small. The chicken was EVEN better. You can taste the smokiness right off the bat. The crunchy fresh onions mixed with the juicy Smokey chicken was just all the better. No words can describe it we loved it so so much. The inside was beautiful, we went at night, it was dim lights and a lot of people, it is a little noisy in there only because there's so many people talking and having a great time. The menu is not huge but had an abundance of interesting things making it hard to choose. The clarified pina colada was so flavorful, really capturing the true pina colada essence. A vibey Carribean spot with family-style menu. I love the clean but cozy aesthetic they have at the restaurant. It's packed on a Saturday night but we only needed to wait a bit before being seated, plus the super friendly staff gave us free champagne while we're waiting! All the dishes were flavorful and high quality. The Empanada and Lechon were a must for me. Delicious brisket filling in the empanada and the lechon was succulent and surrounded in a bed of dreamy coconuty sauce. Other dishes like the Pollo and Mofongo were good too, really can't go wrong. 5 Stars every single time...constantly blown away by this place. I have to say, Lenox is a MUST TRY in Seattle. This was my second time eating here on a December 2025 date night. Completely different menu than the first time we visited, which was nice but also a bummer bc the items we ordered last time were phenomenal. For drinks we went with their Pablo Cruz No.2 - served in this gorgeous vintage looking glass and dried citrus garnish, very very good. Foodwise, we started with their Alcapurria and Chicory Gem salad - the alcapurria was so frickin good, think of afro-latin version of Taco Time's crispy beef burritos. The salad was flavor packed with pickled red onions, shaved pear, bacon vinaigrette (right?!?), and some crispy bites for a crunch texture. If you arent aware, most of their main plates are family style and at least enough for two people, if not more. We went with their Pollo al Carbon. Half a chicken, beatifully smoked, served with potatoes, and this absolutely insane pan sauce. I truly cannot say enough good things about this dish. Potatoes were perfectly seasoned and had a crispy outside and pillowy soft inside. The chicken pan sauce was uncomonly good, i was basically drinking it stratight at the end. Also, were the hell are they smoking these half chickens? Restaurant does not smell like BBQ or smoke at all, some afro-latin voodoo magic i swear. Also, our server was top notch. Lenox has a fantastic reputation as the best new Afro-Caribbean restaurants in Seattle and it is not hard to see why. We loved our dinner so much that we ended up going back a few weeks later! To start, their Clarified Pina Colada is nothing like I've ever had before. Perfectly balance pineapple and coconut flavors and so refreshing! This is not the heavy, super sweet pina colada that you get by a pool. It is special. The Pastelillos and Alcapurria are delicious appetizers. Our group shared them and loved them. We enjoyed many entrees but our favorite was the Pescado en Verde. The fish is cooked perfectly, it melts in your mouth, and the sauce is outrageously good. When I saw "pineapple fish sauce caramel" in the description, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the sauce truly makes the dish. The servers are all very kind and make great suggestions. Was excited to try this newer place in Belltown after hearing so much about it! I love the NYC/Caribbean theme! The food was so good and the service was excellent. The chairs were a bit odd because they kind of lean back, which is comfy but not when you are eating so you have to sit up straight ‍ My dining partner and I started with some cocktails. I had a citrusy one which was really good, made with rum. For starters we shared the corn salad and the alcapurria, plantain fritter with beef. These two were definitely the stars of the meal! Then we also had the Ropa vieja, which left a little to be desired. It could have used more sauce I think, as it seemed a bit on the dry side but not bad. Then we also had the mofongo with shrimp. I made a reservation 2 days before. We were seated immediately when we arrived. Our server recommended getting one appetizer, one main and one salad for 2 people. We thought that was the right amount of food as the portion sizes are decent. We ordered the mofongo, tres hermanas and ropa viejo. We did not have to wait too long for our food. Everything was flavorful without being too spicy. The salad tasted fresh. We were too full to order a dessert, so can't comment on that. I had a great experience at Lenox. I tried empanada, pollo al carbon, lechon, ceviche, tres hermanas, and tostones. Everything was delicious! The empanada with shredded beef and creamy queso was outstanding. Tres hermanas offered a unique twist on salad with tasty vegetables and dressing. The fresh fish in the ceviche, combined with passionfruit salsa and avocado puree, made it a refreshing appetizer. The grilled chicken in pollo al carbon was juicy, but I wish it was served warm and had more flavor in the meat. The lechon is great with a nice crispy layer of skin and tender meat, especially the creamy mustard green is so tasty. Let me first start off by saying that I am so thankful that there was two reservations left on Valentine's Day or else my girlfriends and I would've missed how phenomenal our experience was at Lenox. A few of my girlfriends and I had a dinner reservation at Lenox and we were greeted with warmth. The ambiance was beautiful! The playlist in the background was great to where you could still hear the music, but not too loud and you could still hear your conversations. We loved the menus and how you can tell that Lenox really represents family as there were images of the chef's family on the menus. I ordered the Pollo al Carbon, and it was delicious. Honestly I wanted to lick the plate and I have been dreaming of this meal ever since. They recommend ordering to where you can share your meals together which is what my friends and I did. My girlfriends had the Lechon and Pepper Steak. Great portions and the coco greens that were served with the Lechon was truly a *chef kiss*. We followed up with desert and shared Tres Leches and Bunnuelos, both were so good but Bunnuelos was my favorite. As far as drinks go, we all agreed that the Rosa Bonita and D.T.M.F. were our favorites! My girlfriend's and I are planning another reservation soon and we can't wait. Great place - been meaning to visit and finally got a push to go when Bon Appetit featured them in their 2025 best restaurant list. The flavors are tamer than I'd expected, and for the price it's pretty decent. But I appreciate that they're offering food that you won't easily find elsewhere in Seattle as far as I know. I was really excited to dine here because when you walk in the vibes are amazing as well as the ambience, but the food was very much subpar. I understand what they're trying to do and it looks good on paper, but it wasn't good on my plate. Even the alcoholic beverages were disappointing. I think the chef should redo the menu and have a taste test with unbiased people who know about West Indian food.
