Not only are they personable at Tom Stevens Optical but they sell different types of frames to fit your individual character and face. Craig is always insightful and Isabel never turns down a project to help fix broken frames. I stepped on my frame, and they were mangled but she used her time and patience to mend them back to brand new. Don't forget to stop by and take a look at the frames at an affordable price. I have a small face, my own style, and I am very picky. Craig made it a point take out his special box of frames just for me, where I found some frames that I really grew attached to. And they don't try to make you spend $ on stuff you don't need. In fact, last time I went for a contact lense appointment, even though I have astigmatism in one eye, the Dr suggested I get the same rx for both eyes to save $ and it worked fabulously - my lenses have been great (I think the astigmatism is very slight - and every other Dr I've seen made my get 2 separate RXes). I emailed them today (a Sunday) requesting my RX and I expected a response in a few days. Imagine my surprise when I got a response a few hours later. My concern arose when I requested my pupillary distance (PD), a standard measurement, so I could purchase an inexpensive backup pair of reading glasses online. I already own prescription glasses from this office (both distance and readers), but was simply looking to buy additional low-cost pairs to keep in my car and gym bag. I was told that PD is "specific to each office" and would not be provided. While I understand that practices are not required to measure PD for online purchases, refusing to share an existing or easily obtained measurement felt unnecessary and inconsistent with patient-centered care. It also felt less about policy and more about discouraging outside purchases. I've purchased glasses from this office in the past and fully intended to continue doing so after my next appointment. Unfortunately, this experience has changed my trust in the practice and ultimately led me to seek care elsewhere. I'm sure losing one patient won't significantly impact this practice, but experiences like this are often what quietly influence how people choose where to place their trust. I won't be returning to this office.
