I recently tried to go the cheap route and bought glasses (prescription sunglasses) online through GlassesUSA. The two prs arrived and I immediately realized that they were the wrong size. I called them, they made the return process easy and that's where the nightmare began. I tried getting the correct size/pair and they told me that they weren't made, only non prescription in that size? Then I asked for a refund (7-10 business days) and it took about 20 days to get my refund. I went to LensCrafters on Rte 18, got EXCELLENT service from start to finish and got both pairs (the size I wanted all along) in just over a wk. This is my second time dealing w a LC location and it was outstanding in every way both times, I'll just go there in the future, it's a no brainer! read more

I went to the store at 6:54PM on Friday, and the store working hours till 7:00PM. I found the employees inside the store but they locked the glass door and I try to knock the door no one pay attention to me. I do not know why they licked the door before the working hour's ended. I had gone to Lens Craters many times over the years for my prescription glasses. Needing new glasses, I went back there with my prescription for progressive lenses. First I was helped to find the perfect frames. The woman who helped me was great: pleasant, honest, educational, and fun. I went back the next week, to pick up the new glasses/lenses. The woman who helped me was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable. However, the section for reading was so tiny that I had to angle my head in an awkward position in order to read. I was told to take them home and try them for a weekend; that my eyes needed time to adjust. I took them home and I came to realize that the reading part of the lens was just too small; that it was hard to even find the place for reading. I had to go back to my ophthalmologist. He told lens crafters to make the reading section a tiny bit higher. I dropped off the new script. I went to back again, the next week, to pick up the glasses. I put the glasses on and looked straight ahead. Everything was blurry. NOW, it seemed that they moved the reading section too high. To make a long story short, I had to go home with these glasses to adjust once more. I discovered that , now, the reading section of the lens was placed so high, that I was looking thru THAT part of the lens for distance. I told the woman helping me, that it almost seemed as if the prescription was turned upside down. I could not see distance now because of lens placement. These glasses cost me over $500( with anti reflection, anti scratch, etc). Suddenly, when it was obvious I would have to return these glasses and start over again, the former very friendly, helpful customer service person, was now annoyed and unpleasant.I asked for advice. She had none. I had to go back to the ophthalmologist to get a new script. Now I'll go to a optician who is not in a large chain like "Lens Crafters". I need to let you know that I've worn progressives for 35 years. I have never had any problem until now. I always pick the new glasses up; put them on and rave about how wonderful my new Prescription progressives are! Who else can I blame other than Lens Crafters? read more

I was very happy with the entire staff at East Brunswick LensCrafters. First, the technician took me from one machine to another to test different aspects of my eye sight. She clearly explained what I needed to do and repeated nicely when I was slightly off. The Optometrist, Dr. Hanlon, was amazing. I made him aware of my family history of glaucoma and macular degeneration and with the test results, he was able to explain my situation and provide recommendations to help me continue to have healthy eyes. After the appointment, the eye glass technicians were very helpful in explaining my options. The lenses seemed a bit expensive, but last time, I purchased from Walmart and the glasses didn't last. There is a 30-day test period and if I don't like the gray tint or the progressive style, they will re-do the lenses for me. read more

I happened to stop by this location since I was in the area for a night. The associates that helped me were very helpful in picking up frames and it was a seamless process. I left being told I was able to pick it up the next day after I received a call. The following day I waited and a call never came and I called around 6 since they were closing to a very rude associate named Cathy who told me they were closed and there was nothing they could do. I explained I did not live in this area and if there was anything that could have been done and she snapped back that they were closed. I thought getting glasses for my four year old was going to be a nightmare. The professionals at Lens Crafters actually made it fun. They were very helpful picking a style that would be comfortable for him. They took pictures of him with different glasses on and let us look at all of them to see which looks best. When they measured his eyes he was a little fidgety and they were very patient with him. When it was all over it took about an hour. We returned two hours later and picked up the glasses. 3 strikes and I want to get out. While having new lenses made, I requested the old ones back, which kicked off my problems. A few days later I needed to swap an old lens one for new one since my new scrip wasn't feeling quite right. I then discovered that they returned to me TWO right eye lenses of the same prescription, one of which was brand new with the shavings still on it. Fail. How this happened I can't comprehend. I was told that in the process of making the lens they messed up and put it in my bin and threw out my old instead. Why they were remaking an old scrip I can't fathom and why they threw out what was clearly old for what was clearly new I cannot either. Anyway, while speaking with Jenna, despite being told 1.5hrs to remake it, it was 2 hours. I made it clear multiple times to her that only the left eye should be changed in the frame. She told me that it's fine, but they have to grind both lenses, since they must be done in a pair, and I thought "what a waste". I called Jenna during my wait to remind her only to change the left eye and she reassured me it would be so, but 2 hours later, I came back to find that they installed BOTH lenses! Another person helping me told me that they will only produce explicitly what a scrip says. Jenna never made that known to me. Fail. Fail. This explicit written permission had to wait since my doc at Pearle Vision was on a break, but despite the faxing, the calls,and the re-asking me what I actually wanted, I wasn't confident they knew what was going on at all. I confronted Jenna about why she didn't tell me that it required a scrip to do what I asked, that she just told me yes. Her response was that she did tell me, but I reminded her that she only told me they would grind both and that she didn't say anything at all when I called to remind her. She said she felt really bad about it which is nice and all, but I was the one had to confront her. She didn't make good on her mess up, she would walk right by me despite knowing how frustrated I was while I waited. When another employee confronted her about the fiasco, her response was, "I screw up all day long." Super professional. So, 2 hours and 45min later they gave me my glasses back, I looked through them for 5 minutes and told them to take the lens out and put my new scrip back in. What should have been a 5 minute lens swap to determine which was better for me wasted 2hrs and 45 of our time due to people who do their job poorly. Fail. Fail. Fail. read more

First time ever getting an eye exam and am happy I finally did it. I was nervous getting an eye exam in an eyewear chain, but the exam was thorough and quick. Dr Hanlin expertly teased out different issues (old eye infection, visual migraines, and 45 year-old eyes). I left confident I knew exactly what my eyesight was doing and what I needed. I did not actually buy glasses or contact lenses from here, but I am considering it since I stopped by today and they where so nice and friendly and fixed two pairs of my glasses in under 10 minutes. They are also open on Sundays, which is great because I was originally going to go to Pearle Vision but, when I pulled up, they where closed. My friend Ike always falls asleep with his glasses one and needs them restrung on a weekly basis and always goes here and he's usually out in less than 5 minutes. I am looking for a new eye doctor, and I think I just might go here and update the review once I actually find the time to make an appointment. They did not seem to be too crowded. read more

I came to LensCrafters about 10 minutes before close (I thought they closed later) and was greeted by the receptionist who was super friendly and welcoming and did not seem bothered at all that I came so close to closing. I brought in my grandpas glasses which needed quite a bit of care to be fixed (I didn't even buy the glasses there). Joe Dunn was my optician and was SOO nice and said he would do as much as he could to help grandpa (isn't that so sweet?!) he was working on it for quite a bit while others were waiting and in the end was able to fix it. 10/10 customer service and I'll definitely be coming next time I need glasses. read more

It's a good store. But they quote you only the highest price of items or services without mentioning that there is a perfectly fine way cheaper alternative. For instance, for Bifocal option they quoted $250+ price. Only after I showed that I was shocked and said that I found the price too high, they offered me bifocal option with less than half of this price. The difference between the two options: first with about 35% vs. about 30% width coverage. Minimum for me. Also for the eye exam they push heavily for retina exam with $50 copay, but they didn't mention that dilation option is also available included in the $10 copay. So unfortunately there is a pattern in their options offering. Ask always for cheaper alternatives for any optionals. read more

The optometrist is exactly the kind of guy you want to look at your eyes: a regular guy who actually pays attention to you and clearly has a passion for what he does. I never felt rushed. I docked one star cause they are expensive, even despite this "30% discount" they always seem to be offering for one thing or another. I went in last week to get a new pair of glasses. I walked in and was instantly greeted by Joe. He was great! He helped me pick a perfect pair! It was super busy when I was in there and he was also helping another couple. I loved being able to look on my own but still have his recommendation and opinion. I was in a little bit of a hurry so when I found out my glasses would be ready in an hour I was so excited! I made my way back to the store about 45 minutes later expecting to have to wait but my glasses were ALREADY ready!! I couldn't believe it!! Again Joe helped me adjust my new glasses and really made sure I could see well and made sure they were perfect for me! Moral of the story, I will never go anywhere else for my glasses and I will make sure all my family and friends know where to go! This review is for the doctor's office inside of LensCrafters. If I could rate my experience with Dr. Kruti Patel lower than 1 star, I would give it negative stars. First, let me express that the woman who conducted all of my tests before I saw Dr. Kruti Patel was very nice and helpful--she mentioned that she was from the Freehold location though, not this location. However, Dr. Kruti Patel, on the other hand, had a very unfriendly and rushed demeanor from the start of my appointment with her. She was moving very quickly through the entire appointment. Typically, I'm okay with quick doctor appointments, but she was moving so quickly between the lenses during my eye exam, and made me feel very rushed to pick one that worked best for me. She seemed very agitated when I asked her to go back to a lens to make sure it was better than another one. Also, she did not look at me once while I was explaining my eye history to her. After she gave me my lens prescription, I explained to her that I order my reading glasses online, since I find no reason to spend $400+ on glasses that I use only every now and then. I asked Dr. Kruti Patel if she could give me my pupillary distance measurement, because the website requires a lense prescription along with a pupilary distance measurement when your order the glasses. She refused to give me the measurement. In fact, she very rudely stated that she is "not legally obligated" to give me that information. Not only was that response rude, but also so unexpected from someone who is supposed to be professional and a doctor that helps patients who have questions and are in need of an expert's help. I don't know if there is a law against an Optometrist measuring a patient's pupillary distance and providing him/her with that information, or not, but her response could have been less crass. What I do know is that my insurance and I paid a lot of money for my eye exam, and for Dr. Kruti Patel to make me feel belittled, disrespected, and to not give me all of the information about MY eyes to obtain glasses that work best for me is definitely not okay. I don't know how the rest of the doctors are at this location, but I can tell you to not waste your time, money, or patience seeing Dr. Kruti Patel. read more

Very friendly and professional service! The great service started from the moment I called to make my first appointment, as the representative on the phone was patient with my schedule and also explained my insurance plan (generally) and what to expect with co-pays and the different options I should expect. I missed my turn on rt 18 and I pulled over and called the office, Sharon gave me directions over the phone and was very kind. When I arrived both Joanna (sp.?) and Sharon were both friendly, kind and funny! I was taken for my exam right away, first by Sharon and then immediately by the Dr! I wish I could remember his name, he was fabulous too; funny yet professional and prepared. I could say more, but overall great experience. Prepared, professional and very pleasant staff.
