Don't waste your time or money. They want to charge you as much as humanly possible. I've been wearing contacts for over 20 years but somehow was still forced to pay the fee for them to teach me how to put in and take out my contacts. I declined the lesson since I have plenty of experience putting in and taking out my contacts. Doesn't matter you still have to pay for it. I walked in confused and needing help and Kristen lead me the right way! I was so happy that I came here. They have a smaller glasses section that neighbors however the staff is really knowledgeable if you tell them what you are interested in they can help you find them. Once you have chosen glasses, you have to wait 10-14 days for them to come in. They have a good insurance policy for glasses, if you buy the warranty you can have your glasses fixed at any Pearl Vision location in the US (which is a lot). read more

I proceeded to show them the appointment confirmation that I received from them (as a company) and was then told that the appointment booking service is outsourced and that they did not receive it. I've never seen a more unscrupulous (potentially fraudulent) company with horrific customer service. Purchased eyeglasses in January. Pearle is an "in-network" provider of the insurance I have. The clerk (barely out of high school and made me wait 10 minutes while she talked about vacation plans with the other workers) looked up my insurance details and told me "Wow, your insurance covers almost everything. You just have to pay $65." She wrote up the order, her manager reviewed it, I paid $65, have a zero balance invoice and picked up the glasses 2 weeks later. Two months after that, I got a bill for $290. Pearle's Billing dept is horrible and can only say "your insurance denied those charges". After 3 phone calls with the insurance company and Pearle, I was told that Pearle didn't even submit the claim for the extra lens options (ie. they lied to me). The insurance company said that Pearle can put in lenses that aren't covered and charge me what ever they want, but they should ask if I want to go with those or the ones that are covered. Obviously I'd go with the covered ones and I was told the lenses they wrote me up for were covered, even have an invoice to show it. The insurance company even offered a compromise to reimburse Pearle at the covered lens rate even though they put the wrong lenses in. But Pearle was greedy and said no. After talking to Billing and the store manager, I spoke with the regional manager who admitted they put the wrong lenses in but he either wanted the money or gave me the option to bring the 2+ month old glasses back and they'd swap them out for the covered lenses. I agreed and he told me that the store manager would call me to set up the swap (since I can't just walk into the store and hand them my glasses). The store manager never called and after 3 months of not receiving a bill, I assumed they realized their mistake and did the right thing. But then I got another bill. I called the regional manager again in July and left a message which was not returned. 3 more months go by and no bill again until October (9 months after purchase!) when I got a 3rd and final bill threatening collections/interest. Several calls to the regional manager and Billing and the regional manager told me that the glasses are too old to return now so he'd take 50% off. NO WAY! Pearle screwed up in January, March, July and now they're trying to get money from me. They've already admitted their mistake but aren't owning up to it. I just want them to leave me alone! So be warned, apparently this company has no issues with giving you a bill that you pay and then mysteriously sending you another bill months later. Like buying a new car and then 2 months later, you get a bill for a few thousand more. Wonder how many of their customers simply pay it. Sounds like fraud to me! read more

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone the customer service was horrible ripped off by the high prices. I had the first appointment of the day 10am. Yet I was still not seen by the doctor until after 10:30. He was rude and shortin tone especially after I refused to retina test that costs more and not covered by insurance. He moved the viewer so fast that you couldn't even tell what looked better. After the appointment, they tried to tell me if I just wanted new lenses it you be over $275 with insurance. I've been going to Pearl Vision for years. They had a location on Rte 18 and had moved to another location on 18 which unfortunately died as it was 2 stores open in that strip mall. So I went to other eye doctors and got glasses elsewhere at a few other places. 1 was ok but the doctor was very impatient with me, the second, the doctor was nice but needed to replace the glasses multiple time on progressives, he never got it right. So I saw they finally opened another location on 18 by Mid State Mall, they took my VSP insurance. My appointment was 4:30, filled out paperwork, the girl took me into a room for preliminary pictures and took my prescription. The doctor came in and gave me the exam, he was very pleasant. I wasn't nuts about the selection and chose to keep my frames, they complimented them and were very helpful with helping me pick the options. Prices were on par with what I have paid for the last few pairs of glasses. My glasses will be ready in 10 days and I will post my findings when they arrive. Overall though, I was happy with the experience. read more

I rate this place with two stars based upon the front desk staff , not the doctor. The staff is extremely unprofessional, cursing, loud and unpleasant. I felt like I was at a high school party while in the waiting area. They also do not seemed educated about vision care health insurance. I explained to her that my medical insurance is separate from my vision. She still said she needed to make a copy of my medical insurance and when I asked her why, she explained in case the doctor finds a medical problem which is understandable but should be copied only if and when the doctor tells her to. I also heard the two receptionists at the front desk gossiping about me because I asked her why She needed me medical card. Don't waste your time coming here. The staff is a reflection of the practice, I wished doctors would realize that. read more

The take a variety of insurance plans and they actually take the time to do the pre-authorizations in a very timely manner. I recently ordered a supply of contacts a few days ago and it only took them about 30 minutes. The prices was also very reasonable for high power toric lenses. I have not purchased glasses from here but, they have a wide selection and offer a variety of repairs. They also offer weekend and late appointments so it fits any schedule. Doctors are knowledgeable and have great manners. Staff is also extremely knowledgeable and helpful as well. I feel like they actually want to be there which is nice. Its easier if you call ahead and make an appointment as it reduces your wait time. read more

After waiting a week and a half for a simple lens replacement in my existing frames, I called for a third time to check on the progress and was told they came back from the lab with a scratched lens. I was leaving for a trip the next day and needed them so I asked if I could come by to pick up the frames. When I picked them up the old lenses had been put back in which made me wonder if they'd ever been sent out. At any rate, I took them to Lens Crafters in Brunswick Square Mall and had new lenses in under an hour. Needless to say, I found a new place to get glasses, contacts and eye exams. read more

Made a Saturday appointment online with ease, and many options of times to choose from. It was my first time at PV and it was exceptional. Once I filled out paperwork, one of the front desk ladies performed a few of the eye tests. I waited shortly for the optometrist, and he went go over my glasses/contacts history. He proceeded to find the best prescription for me, and respected that I was only in the market for glasses for he visit. Afterwards, I had the opportunity to pick out frames. Their selection was pretty good, although I wish they had a wider selection to choose from. I narrowed it down to 2 pairs, and the woman assisting me with the payment was very patient and gave me different package options. My experience at PV was overall wonderful -- the staff was very kind, thorough, and listened to my needs. read more

Everyone there is very nice, but unfortunately nice doesn't give you the correct prescription.. I actually took my glasses to a new optometrist and they were shocked how Off my glasses were! They gave me glasses for astigmatism (which I don't even have!). When I called and told them I can't see out of my glasses, they first told me it will take a week or so to adjust.... when I called again they told me I waited too long and it was too late. Before I went to a new office, the second time I went back for annual exam they almost had me sign a paper saying they're authorized to charge more even WITH insurance if you have a astigmatism... The staff is #1. Licensed opticians and apprentice opticians trust me they know their stuff. As a student of ophthalmic science myself they didn't try to BS me at all. Straight shooters prices reasonable. The doctors staff was incredible! They were so pleasant, just like the doctor himself. Went there about a week ago, staff was very friendly!! When I went to see the doctor I explained my medical history and what my current issues were. At first he kept questioning my medical conditions and questioning what my doctor prescribed me..also decided to do the entire exam and make me pay for something that was unable to be determined since my makeup was in his way and my eyes were 'dry'. Also told me that my vision has gotten better but I kept explaining I couldn't see and it didn't get better! But he decided to brush my concerns aside and send me on my way. I ended up going to a professional the next day and was told my vision has gotten slightly worse then it was and I do not have dry eyes just ALLERGIES which is what I'm prescribed medication for in the first place. I will never go back there especially to a doctor who doesn't seem to care about patients needs and concerns. A few days later I got an email to write a review which I did and a day or two later I got a very unprofessional response telling me how wrong I was and made me very uncomfortable. read more

If anyone is looking for an eye doctor and a place to get eyeglasses or contacts, I strongly suggest checking out Pearl Vision in East Brunswick! I was able to get both of my kids glasses there and I recently went for an eye exam and ordered my glasses. They're extremely friendly, schedule prompt appointments and keep appointment times, they help you pick the perfect glasses for your face, they measure to make sure the glasses fit perfect and the lenses are absolutely perfect. This is my third time in the store and I have been to many other stores in the past. I was very very happy with my experience and I strongly suggest that if anyone is looking to purchase glasses or contacts, this is the place to go. Customer service could not be any better, it is actually at that high of a scale. You can ask for Cindy the manager, Shannon - the assistant manager or Patrick who actually does the lenses and fixes the frames. They are absolutely amazing with children as well! Warning: Do not go here!! Biggest waste of my time. I scheduled an appointment for 1:30pm. I got there at that time & still wasn't seen at 2:00. I went to the desk at 2:10 and asked when I'm going to be seen, because at this point I have waited 40 minutes. The nicer woman's response was "about another 20 minutes". Annoyed, I said that I have already been waiting this long and at that point it will already be a WHOLE HOUR since my scheduled appointment time. At 2:10 I told the woman I will be going elsewhere and I should have gotten a courtesy call that they were behind - which is fine, I get it, just opened back up. The other nasty woman at the desk said "well, we did call you 3x (which it was only once) to confirm it and you never answered). Okay.. and? I answered once the day before saying I was coming. she was EXTREMELY nasty and unprofessional with her tone of voice. But I have wasted so much time sitting there. They should have scheduled appointments more responsibly. Rude people, unprofessional staff, and waste of time. I recommend no one to go there at all, perhaps a place that will take you on time and not have you waiting to even BE SEEN, and with nicer people. read more

They are overpriced and make their own rules especially if you are using your insurance. Instead go to the Iselin location because they are a corporate location. Home of the Bait and Switch. They sent me a coupon specifically for this location as I had gotten glasses here before. It was very straightforward: Buy one, get one free, equal or lesser value, must be same prescription, certain brands excluded. I met all of the criteria, and when all was said and done I was told, "oh no, it's only up to $99.95." The coupon absolutely did not say that. I kept being told, "but it says "certain restrictions may apply!" That is NOT a restriction, that is a complete change of the terms. Frankly, I'm glad it happened, I went elsewhere where I got the exact same frames as I wanted for $59 less, and the lenses, exactly as I had wanted at Pearle, (same quality, thickness and coating) were a full $440 less! That was without any coupons or bogus discounts. I am so done with Pearle! read more

Yeah, Methinks NOT! My wife and I went for new glasses. The eye "Dr." had an answer for everything..."you have dry eyes." So we ordered the glasses. They called me back the next day because they forgot to do a measurement. Told me it would take a week. Eight days later I called to see if they was in. "No they are not! We told you we would call you!" Six days later I called again. They were in. My wife and I went to get them. I asked the guy when they came in? He said yesterday. I asked why they didn't call me, and why did it take two weeks? "Well it's business days that they count." OK. Why did it take 10 business days? Went to pearl vision last week for my appointment and was greeted so nicely By the front desk. I believe the assistant manager named Shannon helped me out. She was very sweet and helpful with the paperwork that I needed to fill out being I am a first time customer. After my Exam with the doctor which I forgot her name she was awesome, very honest and thorough! After my appointment it was time to pick out my glasses and one of the guys that helped me name was Patrick he was funny,very energetic and honest as well with which frames Looked good on me and in my price budget. He took my measurements for my frames and told me he would personally let me know when my frames were in and when they are ready to be picked up which I thought was very nice and he actually delivered a week later and I got the phone call from him personally that my frames were in am ready to be picked up! Over All I had such a positive great experience at pearl Vision in east Brunswick! read more

Very disappointed with the East Brunswick office. I've been a regular patient there for many years when Dr Flanders was there at the old location. I scheduled an appointment for 1:30 today. I decided to arrive early in the event paperwork would need to be filled out. Upon my arrival, before they even asked my name, I was informed that the Dr was running behind schedule. No big deal he's late, I was early, it will work out. But that did not sit well with the staff. No, she said. He's really running late, pointing to an elderly couple sitting on the bench. That's his 12:30 appointment that have not been seen yet and it's now after 1:00. I cancelled my appointment and left. My day was scheduled around this appointment and no one bothered to call me and inform me of the delay. When I asked why no one called, I was told they did not know. Very incompetent customer service. I made an appointment online and received an email confirming my appointment. Two hours before my appointment I received a call from them telling me that I was going to have to wait because they were backed up. I asked if I should come in 15 min or half hour later. They told me no! Your appointment is for 2:00pm and need to be there at that time but be prepared to wait. I agreed being that I was having issues with me eyes. 10 minutes later I received a call from them saying that booking appointments online was unreliable and my appointment was being cancelled. I explained to them that I already spoke to someone that confirmed my appointment, She hung up on me. Then to top it off I got a third call asking if I would be in. Aside from the fact that I waited a long time to get seen by the doctor and talk to a sales associate ...the worst part is Simone- a sales associate there who is really rude and unprofessional and could really learn a thing or two about customer service. Does not seem that this gal was happy with her job...when I said no to all the extra stuff she was trying to sell that was not covered by my insurance, she gave such an attitude. She was looking at the computer the whole time and wasn't making eye contact....Because of this experience, I and my family will not go back there and will not recommend the place to anyone. The only positive experience was when I picked up my glasses after two weeks and Pat who made sure the fit and lenses of my glasses are good gave exceptional customer service. read more

This place is awful.. I had a great experience receiving my glasses but then within about 6 months I had a scratch on one lens and what looks like "fading scratches" on the other lens almost as if the coating was never put on that lens. When I went in to find out what it was and to see if they could fix them the guy who was working said "Sorry nothing we can do for you, it is just BAD LUCK." really!? bad luck.. ? bad luck that they only protected one lens and not the other. I was stupid and was so aggravated I just left and never went back. I unfortunately am still wearing the same glasses as I can't afford new ones yet. I will never return to this place. read more
