The experience has always been…read moregreat: eye exams were quick and informative, front desk employees were always helpful and attentive. However this year's annual visit was anything but. It may be due to the change of ownership (I believe it happened either late last year or this year), but my experience with the front desk employee (Sam) was not great. Per usual, the exam was quick, the new doctor was nice and informative, and the other front desk employee (male with glasses) was extremely attentive and helpful. The issue came about a few days after my exam when I decided to use my annual frame allowance for sunglasses (I've had LASIK correction for a few years now). I called the office, Sam answered and I explained what I wanted to do - I've been utilizing this allowance for years. Sam looked up my insurance and asked if it was for prescription glasses. I said, "no, non-prescription". She then quickly told me that I couldn't use my insurance allowance for that purpose. I asked if the insurance had changed in the last year because I've been doing this for years. She said no, it's always been like that and that there's nothing they could do. After letting her know to double check the clauses of the allowance, she checked and noticed that clients with lasik procedures are allowed to use their insurance for sunglasses. She didn't apologize for initially providing me with incorrect information, she just went on and asked what frames I wanted. I told her the model and she noted they don't carry those. I thought I had gotten the same brand from them the year before and said "but I got them last year from you". Quicker than lighting she had already pulled up my prior orders to correct me: no I had not ordered that brand with them! She seemed annoyed that I was even asking. She proceeded to tell me that if I wanted that brand I would have to go elsewhere and referred me to a competitor. She didn't give me options to go online and use a prescription to order them myself, or anything else. I asked for my prescriptions (mine and my husband's) and headed to their competitor. Blessing in disguise - the front desk employee at this new place was a delight, the optician helped us get the sunglasses we needed without much hassle and we proceeded to schedule our 2026 annual eye check with them. This experience may not be representative of the entire practice, but it shows you that customer retention is just about being nice and patient with your clients.

The doctor was amazing and helped make me aware of the miracle that is multi-focal contacts. For a long time I've been unable to have a full range of vision with previous contacts, so this was very welcome information. He took the time to patiently explain how it worked and answered all my questions. I purchased a pair of frames they had from a local area business, Shwood, who has a great selection of natural looking, wood frames. I paid and began my standard two week wait for the glasses. Then things took a turn. I learned that the high index lenses I bought would be indefinitely delayed and they tried to help by suggesting a slightly different product that would even be less expensive. I ended up learning that even those would not be done in time for a very important out of town trip and I began to get very frustrated and voiced my frustration with the staff who called. Even though my frustration showed through, the staff stayed calm and professional, and tried to do what they could to mitigate the impact and explained the delay was due to a wide-spread supply issue. I realized it had something to do with the shipping bottleneck that has been in the news recently (Hormuz) and it really was out of their hands. I could tell they tried everything they could to still meet the initial deadline. It's not how I wanted things to go, and it would have been great if I received my order on time. But that's just how things go sometimes. Upon reflection, the important thing to me was the people you had at your side when things DID go wrong. And I found that they were as professional, courteous and conciliatory as you would want in that situation. They really wanted to do what they could to help. So even though the experience didn't turn out perfect, I feel it was 'the people' who wanted to do what they could in an imperfect situation that makes a place worth your patronage. But, after dropping over 400 dollars on lenses (I brought my own frames to them, but read on about that) and I asked for a box to put my new glasses in, they said "Ten dollars". Really? After all the dough I just spent? It left a bitter taste in my mouth and I probably won't go back because of that petty gesture. Ironically, the frames were purchased FROM THEM two years earlier for a few hundred bucks. Not a good way to end what was a good experience. There are too many other choices in town. Good bye, Blink. Dr. Polsinelli was so thorough and has the nicest personality! Turns out he's married to his partner optometrist, Dr. Miyamoto, who graduated from the same high school I did! Such a small world. His exam and explanations were beyond my expectations. I mean I've been told for years that I had dry eyes, but no one ever said how to treat it other than buy eye drops. Dr. Polsinelli actually gave me a lesson on home remedies and what causes the dry eyes. After talking about my life changes, he also told me he offers free pediatric eye exams to children 6-12 months old. Wow! I just can't say enough about his practice and I look forward to meeting his wife one day!
