Five stars for the optometrist and zero for the frame and lens department. I was nearly blind from having my eyes dilated trying to pick frames. I think the cheapest were $120. That wasn't the issue. The issue I had was being quoted $540 dollars for frames and progressive lenses. WRONG! Then I went with computer distance only because that's what I use most. Now it was $220 with a 1 week wait. I did this and then discovered Costco. Same frames were $60 and the progressive lenses with tinting came to $160, $220 total for everything without insurance. I was feeling robbed so I returned my glasses to LensCrafters. I would see the optometrist again but never get glasses here. read more

I had a fairly good experience with Lenscrafters just recently when I purchased a new set of eyewear with a new prescription. It's been a number of years since I've had my eyes checked so I knew it was probably due time for me to get a new prescription and some new stylin glasses to go along with them. I had my medical insurance setup with flex pay to cover an additional amount so I could expense a few dollars more for a designer pair of eyeglasses and from word of mouth I was told this was the location with the best selection of more premium brand frames. I walked right in without an appointment and started looking around at frames. A gentleman walked up to me asked if I was looking for something particular and I explained to him that it was due time for a new pair of glasses. I knew what I wanted so I explained to the gentleman and he gave me a tray to layout some frames that I would like. I picked out about 8 frames and sat down with him and he went through a series of deductions that made the decision process a lot easier. I got down to the last two which were a pair of Versace's and the other a pair of Prada's and it finally went down to comfort so I chose the Prada eyewear. He took a few pics and utilized this software to make the adjustments on the frames so they would fit the best. He then walked me over to the Optometrist side and setup an appointment for 15 minutes later which gave me enough time to utilize the restroom and get something to drink. I came back and had to wait a few more minutes and finally another person came out and assisted me with my eye check. I have to say I was very impressed with how elaborate the eye check was and the bonus of the whole thing was my eyes have gotten better over the last few years! They walked me back and the guy I last spoke with was with another customer. I waited a few more minutes and he helps me finalize my last parts of this transaction which was the billing. He got it figured out and I paid the final balance off and because my prescription was fairly simple I only waited an hour for them to be made which made my time spent there very effective. Through the point I walked in to the point I picked up my new glasses it was very streamlined to be a very efficient process. Would I use them again? Hell Yeah! I was able to call and quickly get an eye exam. Girls at the front desk were new and they struggled a bit helping some customers but they were friendly. Eye doctor was friendly enough. I had my own frames but I got my lenses made here. I'd say they probably aren't the cheapest but my lenses are great and they were ready in 30 min. I love the selection of frames they have here. I'm giving it four instead of five stars because I don't like the weird sales they have. It doesn't seem right that everyone pays a different price. Alright 3 1/2 stars , why? First off the staff ,each one was friendly helpful and straight forward. There was a delay in getting my specialized lenses for sun glasses. It was not the staffs fault.They were special ordered and they kept me informed of progress and called right away when they were in The prices were high but I chose premium frames and lenses. It's inside the mall but access is easy Via Sears. So here's a rare praise for this large company but it's all do to a great staff. read more

A shockingly horrific experience that in my job would result in the firing of several staff members. Seriously rude, caustic and arrogant behavior starting with the first visit and my first pair of glasses in July of 2012. I walked in and was not greeted.......for 45 minutes in which I had to select my own frames with no guidance, it's called sales for Christ sake. When I asked....Danny, a real delightfully unhelpful and all around JERK, what he thought of the frames his response was. It doesn't mater what I think what do you think.....wow, great job Danny. (please note sarcasm). So they told me glasses would take 10 days......try 15 days. Yes,15 days.....oh and I had to call them. May I mention I even bought warranty in this sale. I now decided to buy sunglasses....well look out. It was déjà vu. Only worse. I ordered the frames and prescription lenses, it took 18 days. And they were the wrong frames when they came in. So I'm told the frames were discontinued and they sold out so they refunded my money. However they also lied, 45 minutes later I called their location at Lloyd Center and they had the frames in stock. I also went to the ray ban website and the frames are still listed. So add liars and lazy to my list of complaints. They could have just transferred the frames. Please, as a customer you deserve better than this experience, sometimes it's just better to pay a little more to get good people. I'm a fair person to a fault with this company, I'm buying the frames at lloyd center and having them put the lenses at Washington square in. To the regional manager of this store, if there is a way you could contact me we should talk. read more

I was completely amazed with the positive, personable, and happy employees at LensCrafters at Washington Square (right next to Sears)! Though they were unusually VERY busy, (my husband says, "it's because everyone wants to see the [Easter] eggs!") the staff was not stressed out and rude like many other places would be, nor did they brush you off when you attempt to make conversation. I was able to schedule my contact lenses fitting 1 hr and 45 minutes before the appointment time (thankfully) and was a new patient. The scheduling of the appointment was quick and easy. They were able to verify my insurance within that time on a Saturday! Dr. Malensky was AMAZING! She was so nice, funny, personable, and she seemed like she was one of my good friends. In fact, the whole staff made it feel like that. Almost like I was family. What's even MORE amazing is that they had my EXACT contact prescription! This is a HUGE feat because I have Astigmatism and NO ONE EVER has my EXACT contact prescription. I used to be given something close to my prescription, but a little blurrier; and I'd have to wait until my order of contacts came in to the office. I still have to wait for my order of contacts, but I don't have to wear my glasses or the not-quite-right contacts! I'll be a returning patient! read more

Completely shocked! I have never been so disappointed with someone's customers service. My mother went because her one of her lenses got scratched and she had purchased a warrantee. Took two weeks for them to come in. She went to pick them up and left the store while in the car she noticed that her lenses did not fit in the frame all the way. We went back into the store and when we walked in we were greeted and when my mom showed the lady what was wrong she looked at us and said were these your lenses already? Her tone of voice was so rude and made us feel as if it were our fault. We said yes we had purchased them here last year and made a warrantee claim her attitude was terrible she took the glasses and walked back to another person and started whispering then someone else came back and asked us to take a seat. When they returned they said they were going to take them in the back and fix them. We got them back and they looked much better. After about two hours we noticed the gap was back...again. She went back the next day and as she was telling me she had to put up a fight to have them even look at them again. My mom is not one to speak up if there is something wrong and she was so upset. She had said to the manager "would these be acceptable to you if these were your glasses" she said nothing and took the glasses and waked away. When she got them back they said thats all they can do and rushed her out the door... Again they were ok for a few hours and now they have a gap again. My mom is completely frustrated and upset she does not want to go back and has tried to call the corporate office because of these issues. I have never personally so offended by a company and we never plan to do business at here again. I wish i could give half a star. I had a very terrible customer service experience. The 1 star is for my first visit. They back-ordered me Frames which took a month to come in. They called me twice to pick up frame and luckily they left a voicemail for me and i spoke to one other person. 2 day later i went to pick up my frames. The girl I met asked for my name and she went to the back room. She came back out and asked for my name again and checked on the computer and went back room again. Then an older lady came out to me to ask my name again, then i pointed to her computer and said its right there..Then a guy came out and said, why are you here to pick up a frames you already picked up..so i asked him, if i picked it up, why would you call me 2days before and left me a voice mail. he made me play him my voicemail, then he went back and came back with my frames and wanted to know why i ordered a replacement frames. I asked him why its any business of his. I paid for it..so i owe you no explanation. he refused to give me my glasses until i gave him a reason. then he proceeded to saying he wants to call the the guy who left me a voicemail to confirm. After spending 1hour here with all this nonesense, he had the nerves to say "have a good day" I spent almost $500 in this store for this frames. My girlfriend was with me at the time and she saw first hand how "blacks" get treated at a retail store (she is white) I will never step foot in this place again, and i already discouraged my coworkers from going here who were shopping for places to go.. Very disappointed. They used to be good. Did not fill optometrists RX properly and tried to upsell me when I returned them. Maybe other locations are better and I realize that they are in the business of selling but. ... Poor poor customer service. My family went and had horrible service. My brother needed his glasses fixed and they refused to help. They said the problem with his lenses was self inflicted (he must have used a chemical on them they said) which is totally false. They also didn't have one of the replacement parts in the store and refused to order it for them. Needless to say we took our business elsewhere. read more

So let me start off by saying I am picky. Annoyingly so. I walked in to the store the first time, and was immediately greeted and helped by a woman named DIANA who explained the whole process to me (my first pair of glasses), and let me pick out some frames. I ended up picking out a pair and putting it on hold. Diana followed up by calling me and clarifying a few things, she is absolutely wonderful. My boyfriend ended up not liking them so much and I figured he is the one looking at me all day so I came back again with him, no luck. I went back today and was delighted to see Diana working again! She smiled when she saw me, remembered my name (even last name for my prescription-IMPRESSIVE!), and took such great care of me. We went through about 6 or 7 different pairs one by one and took pictures to compare(my pickyness at its full potential), and picked the perfect pair! She was so patient, and kind with great advice actually! My next pair of glasses I know exactly where I am shopping and who I am looking for! I am so impressed!! I purchased glasses for my son here. The glasses were fine, but when he lost a lens they refused to replace the one lens. As my insurance only pays for hardware once every two years that came to a $190 fix. I'm taking my business somewhere else. read more

Went to LensCrafters on Monday, January 19th to have my glasses adjusted. I have had my glasses adjusted at this location with great success. In this instance the optician took my eyeglasses to the back and a few minutes later another gentleman claiming to be the lab manager returned with my titanium frames broken. He claimed that he just picked them up and they broke, which I find to be incredulous. He also said they were cheap frames. I found his testimony to be extremely unreliable. The frames are titanium and cost over $400. I would have believed him if he had been honest and stated that either he or the optician broke them while attempting to make the necessary adjustments. It appears that he did not want LensCrafters to be held liable for their error. I would not recommend this LensCrafters location due to their unethical behavior. read more

Do not visit this location! As a former customer who has now moved across the country I have found them to be extremely unhelpful unless you are going to be a returning customer. When I needed them to provide me information on my previous visit the person I spoke with Stephanie informed me that she had no record of my having been a patient and only when I pressed her repeatedly to check into my last exam did she find my last visit. She was very rude when asked to provide me with an email copy of my prescription and insisted that my prescription was expired although it was not yet expired. She also caused my initial online order of contacts from contactsdirect.com to be cancelled and I was only able to have this approved when I provided the hard copy proof that my prescription was still valid. When speaking with Stephanie on the phone she was very unprofessional and spoke to me in a rude and condescending tone. I would not recommend anyone purchase contacts or glasses from this location. read more

I had an excellent experience all the way around with this Lenscrafters and Dr. Meghan Malensky. Timely, super friendly, professional, down-to-earth, and just a joy to talk to. My exam was thorough and, I felt, comprehensive, and the doctor was very approachable in terms of me asking her questions, etc... Also, I bought a box of contacts from them on my way out the door before remembering that I had some new insurance benefits kicking in within a couple weeks. So, I took the box back and they happily gave me a full refund. A great experience and highly recommended. read more

From what I can tell, the selection is good and the prices are fair. However, the service is where this store falters. I have visited this location twice in the last few months in an effort to quickly buy some prescription sunglasses for an upcoming vacation, and both times haven't received any service. The first time, I was not greeted at all. Several associates walked right past me and didn't say "hi" let alone give me the assistance I needed. I figured that could have been a fluke. The second time, an associate said hello but didn't ask if I needed help. She proceeded to help two other customers who came in after me, so I left. I marched up to Sears Optical that same evening where the service was excellent and the prices are even a little cheaper. Maybe you have to be more pushy to get help at LensCrafters, but I'm not willing to beg before I spend a few hundred bucks. Save your time- go elsewhere. read more

The people at this Lenscrafters were almost to a fault polite and professional. I actually had to take advantage of their 90 day guarantee because the doctor got the prescription wrong (they made an error in transcribing the prescription). Even through that, they without fuss or hassle made new lenses to the new prescription, and had them to me in an hour. The guy who helped me out (I think Daniel) was very knowledgeable about frames and helped me pick out one I actually like (he wanted me to try the 60s scientist ones but they were too "bold" for me, I thought, and we found a happy medium). And Tesa put up with my corny jokes and blabbering about my cat (I fed myself caffeine and that was a Very Bad Idea - no salesperson was safe at that mall that day.) It's a little pricey, even with insurance, but considering they had to remake the lens I'd say I got my money's worth. In summary, nice people, good service, and they take care of you even if they weren't the ones who messed up. I'd go back. read more
