Amazing selection, slightly overrated sandwiches. My coworker was really in the mood for something "tasty," and we just happened to walk by Lenny's. Walking in, I was completely overwhelmed by the menu. There were SO many options: hot and cold, roasted meats and cold cuts, sandwich and rolls, the combinations go on and on. I wanted to have something lighter to combat post-Thanksgiving gluttony and opted for a chicken cutlet tonkatsu sandwich with whole wheat bread. One of my coworkers sandwiches for some reason took an abnormal amount of time to prepare. We waited five extra minutes for him to get his roll. When I got back to the office, the presentation was so neat. Everything placed on the sandwich carefully and sliced so cleanly. Unfortunately the sandwich didn't live up to my expectations. I actually loved the tonkatsu sauce which was my biggest concern. However, the bread just didn't hold and for being a $9 sandwich, I expected more and for it to be more filling. It was by no means an awful sandwich, but with so many Flatiron options, I figured it'd be a better use of my time in the future to visit other lunch spots. read more

Nice portions aka large filling sandwiches and that coordinate with the prices they charge. It's by all means not cheap at all, but they're, for the most part worth it. This location is small and can get quite hectic. Expect a wait but nothing outrageous especially at lunch time. It helps to know what you want when you get in there especially during peak times because if you don't you'll likely just annoy everyone else around you causing a very unpleasant experience. Not a fan of this place. Korean owned restaurant, I gave it a chance because of the convenient location. Some of their sandwiches are definitely not the tradition "italian" sandwich like they advertise on their web. I actually watched an employee drop lettuce off the food prep area and put it back in the bin WITH BARE HANDS. That was after I ate their sandwich. One of the best values for lunch I have found. Just look at the meat they piled onto my American hero for $9.25! Cold cuts quality is great, bread is fresh and soft. Consistently good. Love love the Jurassic salad and the Italian deli sandwich. It's not as cheap as other sandwhich delis but the quality is also much better. They know what they do well and keep to a limited menu. We've ordered catering from here and it wasn't as good. But for individual quick pick up it's more than satisfying. read more

As far as chain sandwich shops go, Lenny's is a step way up from Subway yet definitely not Gourmet. Expect lunch fare without the twist. The prices aren't horrible compared with other options in the Flatiron area and if you order ahead the wait time is nil. Or just get delivery and stay put in that office chair. I've had their salads which are on par with Chopped but seem to somehow have an even larger ingredient selection (is that possible?). I can almost never finish a whole salad or a whole sandwich here...thus while you'll probably spend around $10 on lunch...they don't skimp on the bang. The meatloaf sandwich (H5) is also a favorite on a chilly day. Meatloaf, gravy, mozz, grilled onions and lettuce on a hero? The challenge is resisting a post lunch cat nap. Lenny's is my work lunch destination when I really want to treat myself to a delicious, filling sandwich. It's a tad on the pricey side, which is why I don't go here more often, but it's well worth the money. My favorite is the Jimmy T. - chicken cutlet, melted mozzarella, sweet peppers and honey mustard. Mmmmmmmmmm. Warm & tasty. Sometimes I can only eat half of it b/c it's so stuffed, which means I get two days' worth of lunch for the price of one! Their tuna & shells salad and yogurt & fruit parfait are yummy too. Haven't tried the hot foods, but they do look appetizing. Plenty of seating upstairs, but in the summer months, my bf and I like to have a little picnic in Madison Square Park with all of our yummy Lenny's food. Bonus tips: You can order your food ahead of time and have it delivered to you in the park. AND! They have an assortment of Rice to Riches rice pudding cups! Kinda pricey at $3.75 a pop, but I doubt that'll stop some people from getting their fix. read more

Not knowing the procedure, I was getting trampled! That place gets crowded quick during the lunch hour madness. Ordered the Italian sandwich w/ pastrami. First of all, the sandwich is HUGE. Loaded with meat and filling, and you get two huge halves. All this for $7. Good deal for hungry patrons. Too bad they don't sell by the half sandwich, I would prefer much better. SOLID lunch spot. I adore their online ordering system, especially since I can specify if I want my bread scooped out (which I NEVER would, but still!) or if I want my meat grilled or if I want them to delay their delivery 45 minutes so that I don't miss any part of the Desperate Housewives reruns I may or may not be watching during work. This place is packed to the gills during rush hour, but you can't go wrong with ordering via phone. If you're a frequent patron, they can also store your credit card for future orders. If you order on the phone, be explicit with what you want and make sure they have what you want. Sometimes they'll take liberties if they don't have what you asked for. For example, your man Geoff is very particular about his Cheez Doodlez. I've heard "We have Cheetos...same thing" and wanted to freak out on the phone a couple times - I've even recieved Cheetos in lieu of Cheez Doodlez (which they do carry, but were out of stock of) and wanted to commit murder. I really was impressed by the service and the quality of their food at such a reasonable price! I wish we had Lenny's in San Francisco! I fell in love with the caesar salad at Lenny's and gradually went to the hot foods (salmon, mac and cheese, stuffing and gravy) and then was drawn to their sandwiches. Their salads are incredible. The perfect amount of dressing, chopped up in nice bits for your fork, chopstick or even your fingers! Today, I got a #5 All-Time Favorite - Jimmy T! You're looking at, at least, a ten minute process, during peak hours. Their sandwiches are pretty standard in comparison to similar joints, not including Subway...they don't count. Prices for sandwiches tend to run a bit high and the quality is ok. We've had take-out from them before and have had work parties catered by them...always excellent service. read more

On those days I was really hungry, and I'd missed family meal at the restaurant before I went to school, I'd pop into Lenny's for an overpriced, poorly conceived amalgam of meat and cheese. Then I'd leave and try to eat my sandwich while simultaneously walking back to school and not offending anyone while I untied my shoes and unbottoned my jeans...while still eating said sandwich. I was always upset when I'd finish, because even though I was hungry and I was eating fast; I wasn't satisfied, Maybe its because for the most part, the combinations they come up with don't work and when you design a sandwich yourself it ends up costing you about the same as the GDP of Paraguay. It's a sandwich, it should taste good, shouldn't be too "busy" and if it comes on a roll and I hand you a $10 and get back less than a bucks worth of change, something has gone horribly wrong. read more

Quite an operation here, like a beehive churning out assembly line breakfast & lunch. We stopped in for the former, my friend going for eggs over easy with home fried potatoes and sausage with toast. The eggs were good in a rush, the toast buttered. I ordered the nova bagel (fresh salmon, cream cheese, tomato), but I won't be back for that. If you've ever had a non-boiled, dry bagel that has no chewiness or real flavor, you'll know what you're getting here. Pretty uninspired, especially with legitimate options around the corner. Coffee is basic - perfect if you don't care about what fills your cup. Muffins: avoid. They taste like they should be sold with cellophane wrapped around them (and if you order one toasted with butter... well, see the photo accompanying this review). A so-so experience overall. This place gets traffic, and with so many orders flying about, there is little to distinguish it from an airport snack kiosk at JFK. Good luck in getting something you'll actually be grateful for - you might consider spending an additional $2 and getting something at Eataly across the street. read more

I actually went out for food for the heck of it and "discovered" that I still had very little sense of taste, so the roast beef with bacon (G2) I can say very little about. On the other hand, the first floor layout is a very crowded, very narrow hallway. I'm not swinging the cane around as a decoration, I'm holding myself up with it, and am not sturdily balanced or finely-controlled. IOW, when it's that cramped, I run into people and vice-versa and it's luck as to whether they knock me down outright. There was little/no first floor seating and no apparent elevator. The guys making the salad between the counter are nice.. but the workers behind the registry are the absolute worst and extremely condescending. I wish I still had my receipt to actual say who it was an complain to the manager about her (lunch shift 10/19 around 1:30). She didn't ring up my food correctly and when I tried to ask a question, she kept putting her finger up and was like "just wait a minute". Our store is just outside the delivery area of the 23rd St Flatiron location so I couldn't place the order online without using a 3rd party delivery service.
