    Perfection!

Absolutely amazing. Hands down THE best steak in the world! Pecan cobbler is the best dessert I have ever eaten.

This spot had been under my radar for so long and I finally made it there! I felt like I had to strategically plan the visit since I was only interested in their steak night which happens only on Fridays and Saturdays between 530pm and 9pm. The other day Leona General Store is open is on Thursdays, which is fried catfish night from 530pm to 830pm. They've got extremely limited hours, so be sure to plan it all out before making your way there. There are a row of parking spots right in front of the main entrance but plenty of street parking along it's side. The spots fill up very fast and people have lined up since early afternoon. I made it at 330pm, 2 hours before opening time on a Saturday and the line was about forty deep. I'm glad they have chairs for maybe like the first sixty or so in line, that helps a lot! When it opens for the evening, they ask for a single file line to be seated accordingly and you can begin feasting on the complimentary salad and coleslaw. These items are stationed at a few areas inside the restaurant and is help yourself. The greens were very basic and they throw in a few cherry tomatoes but very fresh. The slaw was also fresh and appetizing. To be honest, I went back for seconds. Our server was very nice and explained the menu to us with enthusiasm. Basically, the steak options are simple and they'll cook it to your liking and is served with a dinner roll and mashed potatoes. My group and I all ordered medium rare, but it seemed liked some were a little too well done. The quality of the steak though was A+ and very seasoned and flavorful. The dinner roll was soft and pillowy while mashed potatoes were satisfying. It was a hearty meal everyone ended up enjoying. The night ended with a peach cobbler but they have a few different cobbler options for you to choose. It is a small portion but also very tasty. The vintage feels and the decor inside is pretty unique as this place was originally a general store and next door is the pharmacy. Since it is old school, the servers write down your order on a notepad and its the check that you'll have to bring up front to the register to pay/tip. Good thing is you can tap to pay and tip too. I might just come back again for steak some time! Restooms were clean and specious. There's also a sink right outside the restrooms for those who just want to wash hands.

In all of Texas, Leona's General Store is hands down my favorite steakhouse. It also happens to be perfectly located halfway between Houston and Dallas -- making it the ideal stop on any road trip between the two cities. I've been coming here for a couple of years now, and it never disappoints. The food, the service, and the atmosphere all hit the mark every single time. To start, Leona's serves their famous ribeyes only on Fridays and Saturdays, and trust me -- they're worth planning around. The smallest cut is 10oz, and you can go up by 2oz increments from there. Each steak comes with potatoes, bread, and an unlimited salad bar that has all the classics. Dessert is true southern comfort -- tonight I went with the peach cobbler, and it was the perfect sweet ending. The environment is a warm, country-style vibe -- casual, inviting, and full of friendly faces. It's BYOB, the staff is incredible, and the space is huge with plenty of seating. You'll find a mix of locals and travelers alike, all enjoying a classic Texas experience. If you ever find yourself near Leona, TX, this place is an absolute must-stop. Great food, great people, and a true Texas gem.

10oz Ribeye but could swear it was more.

Food is excellent service & laid back atmosphere. Good humongous steaks & chicken. Make the trip & stop into Leona's General Store- there is a cute little icecream store next door & they serve wine. How eclectic!

Line at 5:05 PM. They open at 5:30.

Decided to get a low key steak for our anniversary instead of going to a top notch high scale restaurant and are we so glad we did!!! We arrived at 5:05 pm and the line was already across the porch and into the spaces where people park. We could hear people talking about come in from Houston, Dallas, College Station... WOW. We made it inside on the first run and as soon as we were seated our sweet waitress come over and asked us 3 questions. 1. What would you like to drink? You can have tea, water, or a canned soft drink. 2. What size steak do you want? We ordered the 10 oz but oh my it was a lot bigger than a 10 oz. 3. How would you like that cooked? Medium rare of course!!! After our waitress leaves, we make our way over to the salad bar. You grab your little bowl and fill it with a premix salad. They have 3 different dressings to pick from. Ranch, Italian, and it looked like French maybe? They have club crackers, so we grabbed a couple along with some butter pats and went to our table. Our steaks arrived about 15 minutes later PERFECTLY cooked with a side of red mashed potatoes with the skins still on and yeast roll. Simplicity at its finest. It was sooooo good. I usually never order a steak when we go out. Let's just say I'm spoiled with my spouses steak cooking skills. Ha ha I am so glad I ordered though. In all reality we could have shared. It was 33$ and DEFINITELY worth every single penny. You don't have to get all dressed up either. It's an old general store converted to a restaurant. Very old school feeling. Every single person that worked there was sweet and personable. We can't wait to go on a Thursday to try their fried catfish!

120z lots of steak Potatoes and awesome bread!

Me and my kiddo were coming back from Buffalo working all day. Then I recalled it was Saturday, which is steak night at Leone General Store. So we decided to stop in. The steak house is open from 1730 to 2100 hrs. We arrived 15 minutes early, and wow was the line long. I observed lots of people with ice chests full of ice cold beer. Why they wait, they hydrated! So If it's your first time bring some cold libations. (Don't drink and Drive). Once the opened the line moved pretty quickly. Inside gave off the ambiance of an old western movie. The restaurant is huge inside with plenty of seating. We sat down they took are order and they refilled my glass of tea immediately. Looks folks they are cooking a lot of steaks for people. It takes a little time for perfection. So we waited for about an hour but the steak was butter folks. If you're from the city and want fast service or NYC or CA ect forget about it. You're in the country now. The people behind me were annoying. The kept complaining about how long it took for the meal to come out. Go to a fast food restaurant! Then they com d about there steak, Good lord. Anyways my steak was spot on, love this country place and will come back again. Remember folks this is not a fast food restaurant! Patience for good food!

We started off with a bit of a drive (2 hrs) but it was scenic and country--my favorite kind of trip! We went on a Saturday and arrived about an hour and a half before opening, which put us 4th and 5th in line. We knew they didn't serve alcohol, but were pleasantly surprised to learn that you can bring your own. There's also a little country store attached where they sell beer and wine, which was a nice bonus. We came for the famous ribeyes, but they also offered pork ribeyes and chicken. The standard ribeye was 10 oz (around $32), and you can add extra ounces for about $2 each if you're extra hungry. The ribeye was flavorful and generous, and it came with unlimited salad, mashed potatoes, and bread. For dessert, we tried both the pecan cobbler and blackberry cobbler--both were warm, sweet, and absolutely hit the spot. From the outside, the restaurant looks small, but once inside we were surprised by how spacious it actually was. Even though the line behind us stretched long, it moved quickly and the crowd thinned out much faster than expected. Overall, it was a fun experience with hearty food, friendly atmosphere, and well worth the drive!

Best steak in Texas! Grilled over open flames with a homemade spice rub you can't beat. If you order a 16oz it's more like a 20oz and cooked to perfection every time. Fridays are less crowded than Saturdays you may have to show up early and get in line. BYOB

We heard positive comments about Leona General Store during our Houston visit, so we decided to check it out. It was better than expected in every aspect. This exceptionally charming place feels strikingly like a small Texas town. The warm, welcoming and unpretentious atmosphere will make you feel right at home immediately. The incredibly juicy ribeye steak was exceptionally outstanding and that's why we came. The ribeye was flawlessly cooked to perfection. The meat was remarkably tender, richly juicy and perfectly seasoned. The flavor was simple. As a premium steak should be, it was luxuriously wealthy. The service was superb. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Their unobtrusiveness was guaranteed by the perfection of several details. Their dedication to customers is easy to see and their clear pride in their work is also apparent. I highly recommend stopping at Leona General Store if you're traveling on I-45. The detour was well worth it; it's a real gem. The steak was exquisitely delicious and I intend to return for more in the near future.

One of the best steaks ever, better than most premium chop houses, just without the sides . Served with good mashed potatoes and mediocre salad. My sister had the pork ribeye which was incredibly tender and delicious. Well worth the wait, we bought some beer from the store next door. Arrived about 530pm on Saturday , waited about 1.5 hours

We drove for almost 2 hours to Leona General Store after seeing Mike Chen's video. It was a fun trip. They served fried catfish on Thursday 5:30pm-8:30pm and steak on friday/ saturday 5:30pm-9pm. We got there 1hour before closing so we only had to wait for 15min. My steak was cooked to perfection. Beautiful char on the outside while still being juicy an tender. The seasoning was simple yet effective, bringing out the natural flavors of the meat without overpowering it. The atmosphere was casual and laid-back, with the vibe of a small-town gem. The staff was friendly and attentive. Leon General Store may not be your typical steakhouse, but it's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

The line can get long, but it's always worth the wait!

My man's favorite place to get a steak, as he is happy to share with anyone he meets-anywhere, anytime! If you came for the salad, go home! This is steak all the way. To quote our waitress, Emily, "We start at a 10 oz ribeye and go as big as you want." The effort to get here - navigating the limited hours (Thurs, Fri, Sat evenings only) and isolated location (smack dab in the middle of nowhere!) and the sparse menu - steak and chicken) could make you wonder if its worth it. Ask any of those doningbwith us and the answer will be a resounding Yes!

I got the 14OZ Ribeye with the red potato mashers and a roll.

The store feels like walking into a family reunion with all the homemade goods that grandma brings and wine with relatives. Overall, the store felt warm. Cooper Farms had samples of their fruit wine, jams, and salsa out for those who were intrigued by the interesting flavors, like the peach salsa. My friend tried out the white peach wine and said the wine went down smoothly and had a delicious taste that could be dangerous if you are not counting how many glasses you are having. We ended up buying 3 bottles of wine ($22 but buy 2 or more get them for $20 each), a peach ice cream, and a peach milkshake for the road. Cooper Farms had stands of baked goods like pumpkin pie, pecan pie, peach cobbler, and so much more. The store opens up to multiple tables of snacks when you walk in and a jam/ salsa wall on your right. Food Review: Peach Ice Cream (5/5) I would recommend this to anyone who walks through the doors. I was expecting a sorbet peach but was surprised to taste cinnamon and a nutty flavor in my ice cream. The small portion was enough to keep me full for the rest of our roadtrip back to Houston. Peach Milkshake (5/5) The peach milkshake are for the drivers who can't active scoop and eat ice cream. The milkshake was just a blended version of the ice cream. It was a perfect to-go drink if you wanted to try their ice cream but need to focus on the road. Overall, I would love to come back here with family and have them try the ice cream. Next time, I would like to try out their baked goods. 10/10 would recommend!

When picking out the fried pie, staff was really nice and helped me picked a pie and she recommended that I microwave the pie to make it a little warm, but it is ready to eat as is. She says she leaves it in her fridge and eats a piece day by day for up to a week! I like eating something a little sweet everyday so I'm going to take her up on that advice for sure cause I know I can't eat that whole pie in one sitting.
