Tucked in an obscure and unforgivingly tiny strip mall on Moorpark at the corner of Whitsett is where this restaurant sits If you blink you may pass it. The parking lot is so tiny it's brutal I suggest parking in the street. The ambiance in this space is beautiful! I love places that wisk you away on a destination vacation once you cross the threshold! I was greeted by a young guy he was super polite and seemed shy or new to working the front. Their menu is overwhelming! They have something for everyone here and an authentic Mexican dining establishment vibe but the menu seems to have more American fare and is catered to Americans that are open to trying vegan for the first time? Details below... I ended up ordering the Spinach empanada Asada Burrito Vampire juice because a girl's gotta goth (it's carrot, beets, and orange) The burrito came out first, but I'm going to start with the empanada. Spinach empanada The bread is like a dinner roll sight sweet soft perfectly baked but fairly bland with a layer of cheese and fresh spinach thrown in. Flavor TBD (to be desired) not seasoned no sauce salsa etc literally just bread, cheese, raw spinach. I'm not sure if this was an off evening, or if this caters more to a flavor adverse audience. I find it odd that this is an item they highlight, but it gets a hard pass from me. I've had better for less at a nearby vegan bakery. The burrito is good the seitan asada takes center stage on this, with a bold flavor tamed with the rice beans veggies and avocado. The Salsa it came with is good smokey and flavorful, mild for me but spot on for spice and limited spice lovers alike. Is it the best vegan burrito? No, not even close but you can't beat the price, you get what you pay for and the portions are significant. It came out quick so this is a great spot for something quick simple and uncomplicated. (parking lot aside) So would I get another burrito in the future? Likely. The person at the front checked on me once but when I was done I waited for like 10 min and then when it felt sufficiently awkward to keep waiting I ended up going to the counter to pay the bill. Some feedback: Print a new menu as I saw the things marked off as priorities change, it would be best to give clarity. First highlight your strengths do you have a speciality item do you make the seitan, beans, vegan cheese in house? This also helps keep the menu full yet helps indecisive people like me become loyal customers. Is the restaurant fully vegan? (I already know the answer is no but didn't until I came in) How does it work now that the restaurant is not fully vegan? Meaning what do I need to consider as a guest/how to order so there's no mistakes AND this will support the staff with consistency. Example: I eat vegan because of dietary issues. On the menu typical meats are listed as is no notes that they are vegan or otherwise. Do you serve regular meat? Is it all vegan meat, is it seitan is it tofu based? As someone who does graphic design and can employ cost saving strategies on said graphic design, updating the menu (instead of just using a sharpie to mark parts out and leave the customer questioning) is doable, reasonable, and will improve business!

I've been looking for a place like this for years! Authentic Mexican food all plant based Super vast menu with awesome specials! I had the tamales and enchiladas and the flavor was bomb! Excited to try more of what they have to offer

I haven't been at this place since a few years already and I had a craving for vegetarian vegan food Also, I had a day off today so I had my lunch there I ordered the lentil soup and an empanada with mushroom and vegan cheese The only reason I gave them a four star is because the lentil soup was very watery about half broth for half lentils The empanada was delicious and filling , smash from where so delicious and tasty It was my first time trying that empanada I will have this again ‼

My friend and I came here for vegan food and we were not disappointed! When we arrived the restaurant was not busy. The waitress came out and told us we could sit where we wanted. The restaurant is small, cute and had pretty Native American and Mexican artwork. I ordered the veggie quesadilla with dairy cheese and guacamole and my friend ordered a quesadilla with vegan cheese and avocado on the side. We also both ordered horchatas. Everything was amazing, but what was especially delicious was the vegan pizza! This pizza was soooo good. I can't remember exactly which pizza we ordered, but it had all the toppings. I know I'll definitely come back.

We have been going here for years!!! Freshly made vegetarian food. Cozy little spot in the corner of a strip mall in Studio City. We love the golden nugget sandwich. The quesadillas and the freshly made juices are really, really good.

The food is amazing really fresh vegan old school large portions fresh juices highly recommended

We got take out so we plated our own meal.

This tiny spot in studio city is cute but we've only gotten take out. We've ordered their tamales two years in a row for Christmas/new years. They are delicious. A tad too oily but love they have vegan tamales and plan to get again soon. So far staff has been very nice. We finally tried their regular dinner menu. We got: Broccoli empanada - eh. Could use more flavor. Spinach empanada - we liked it but it needed more spinach and flavor. Chili burrito- had good flavor and enjoyed the rice and beans that came with it. Wendy special quesadillas- was more like tacos than quesadillas. We didn't enjoy them. What we loved was that the food was fresh and healthy. Not oily. Steamed broccoli rather than oil covered smushed broccoli. The flavors could be better and we'd love more ingredients inside the items. Less fake meats and more sautéed veggies would be delightful. But we'll give dinner another try for sure. There are many more things on the menu to try. And we love that it's healthy and vegetarian and can be made vegan.

    Red salsa, green salsa, guacamole

The service was good. We really liked the ambience. The way the place was decorated was very cute. Unfortunately, those are all the good things. I ordered the plate with chile relleno and enchilada. It came with beans and rice. I got a cheese enchilada instead of the beef enchilada that I ordered. The chile relleno tasted like it was just a plain unseasoned bell pepper with cheese inside. The rice was brown rice and it was unflavored, like it was boiled then immediately put on the plate. No flavor whatsoever. The beans were okay. The green salsa tasted like water. The guacamole needed salt and flavor. The red salsa was the best one. It had a smokey flavor. The chips seemed a little stale. All of these negative qualities make me sad, since I found out this is a family-owned business. My favorite vegan/vegetarian Mexican place is Borreguitas in Pomona. It's cheaper than this place and the meat is soooo much better and realistic.

Celebrating Latinx Heritage Month!! As a vegetarian Angeleno who eats a diet consisting of 99% Mexican food- I'm very surprised this is my first time trying Leonor's. So my order got a little messed up (Uber Eats ah!) but it happens. I ordered the chicken taco and carne asada burrito. I reaaally wanted to try the burrito but alas, it wasn't in the bag. There was another taco instead. A review on the items I did receive: -Chicken Taco: Initially I thought this was the mystery taco but based on the description this was it. There was really hardly any "chicken" or flavor, mostly lots of lettuce. And definitely couldn't eat it like a taco. It was more like a salad. -Mystery Taco: I loved this one!! It was just tortilla, "chicken", and veggies/yummy seasoning. I hope I can figure out which menu item this was so I can get it again! Ok- yes I didn't get what I ordered, and the flavor could've been a little better but I am looking forward to trying them again! It's organic, healthy, vegetarian/vegan food with a stacked menu. Til we meet again!

I'll go one by one as I really didn't skimp on any of it..... First off, the brisket was so tender I couldn't even get it on to my plate originally. I had to keep stabbing at it with a fork and it just kept falling into pieces it was magical. The flavor was amazing with the perfect combination of that smokey and fire grilled taste. Didn't even need to use any sauce, but don't sleep on their BBQ sauce it had the perfect flavor of not too acidic and not too sugary. It's hard to stop eating it. I had to follow it up with the brisket quesadillas because.... well because they were staring at me and I had to show them who was boss.... Again, insane flavor combo and pleasantly addicting. Next move I had to throw down on a couple of hot wings to make sure my taste buds were still jumping and ready for the upcoming situation. Just for reference purposes, nice little kick with a bit of smokey flavor. Could've eaten 20 in one sitting but was continuing on my path of BBQ destruction. We now veered over to the baby back ribs .... I think I ate 10 before I realized what was going on. Yet again, the flavor was perfect and the meat was cooked to perfection. It didn't need any sauce, but I was a big fan of loading up on the BBQ sauce for these bad boys..... Next I shifted my fat eyed focus over to the tri-tip. It had that perfect pink center looking like a medium rare meaty super model. I went a different route here and dipped it into this horseradish sauce concoction that I never seen or heard of in my life. I don't know what was in that sauce, but it was phenomenal. I could have literally eaten this stuff by itself, but everyone was looking so I didn't want to make it weird. The tri-tip itself didn't even need any sauce and was super juicy, but that sauce just elevated the taste to another level. Now we decided to go a different location on the farm pay tribute to some smoked chicken. I had to dabble with both the BBQ sauce and the horseradish sauce as my dipping/smothering choices for this tasty bird. Couldn't even tell you how great it was without the sauce, since my mind was already fading trying to fight off my meat sweat coma. Lastly for our protein portion of the evening, I had to top it off with some of that pulled pork. Now this was extremely flavorful and some of the best I've had in quite some time. I did however enjoy lathering it up with that BBQ sauce like some of his fellow plate mates I already devoured. I will give a shout out to the sides, even though I only had a brief taste of each as I was going hard on the proteins. High fives to the potato salad, coleslaw, Mac and cheese, street corn, corn bread, tator tots and collard greens. I may have possibly missed one or 2, but after gorging on disgusting amounts of food, you tend to forget things. Had to make sure to sneak some of those greens in there so my heart didn't give out.... I however did not indulge in the chips and salsa that were there since I didn't want to come off as a pig..... So instead (as I forgot to mention previously), I took the queso and poured it over some pulled pork because that's what needed to happen at that moment.... Boom! For the grand finale, we had this banana pudding dessert that literally put me over the top. If I could openly cuss on this platform, I genuinely would.... It was absolutely orgasmic. That's right, you read that correctly. I don't know what they put in that thing, but to call it amazing would be an understatement. Pretty sure I blacked out at some point while finishing my bowl of dessert. As you can read, I was not a fan of any of the food in any way shape or form.(Sarcasm ...) I look forward to going back, but I will need to wait until I awake from this painful food coma I've been fighting off since the ending of the World Cup match watching USA beat the breaks off of Bosnia with one man down. Much love on the food and I happily dedicate this extra fat fold on my stomach and the 8lb weight gain to AJ's BBQ.

If you grew up in LA like I did, this was definitely THE spot...and honestly, it still is. The interior is packed with old school charm: dim lighting, warm red and yellow accents, cozy booths, and a dining room that's instantly recognizable. But don't sleep on the outdoor patio either. It's absolutely beautiful, complete with its own bar and plenty of seating for those perfect evenings out. Casa Vega is famous for its margaritas and classic Mexican American comfort food. It's not outright authentic, but it's nostalgic and hasn't changed for decades. During my last visit, I kept it simple with a cheese enchilada, a perfectly medium rare cooked steak taco, and spicy beans and rice. While each item was simple, it was done perfectly. Definitely get the combination so you can try a little bit of everything. Like I said earlier, For me Casa Vega is all about nostalgia. The familiar flavors, the atmosphere, and those feel good vibes that keep people coming back year after year. It's a staple because we all grew up with it so if you're someone here dining for the first time, keep that in mind. Last pro tip: there is $10 valet parking which honestly saves you from trying to find parking on the main boulevard so I would say just go with it.

Let's start with logistics: parking is valet only unless you manage to find street parking on very busy Ventura Blvd. When we arrived, we stood waiting for a bit without being acknowledged. When the hostess came over, there wasn't even a simple "hello," just "How many?" and "Do you have a reservation?" It's a small detail, but hospitality starts with a greeting. The ambience is undeniably cool -- dark, classic, very old-school LA. It has character. Food-wise, it was inconsistent. The albondigas soup leaned salty -- maybe it had reduced over time, maybe just my taste preference. The fajitas were actually the opposite: pretty bland. On the plus side, they weren't overcooked, which is common at many places. The cuts were large, not overloaded with onions (which I appreciated), but also not much chicken. The guacamole had a slight sour note. Not terrible, but enough to question how fresh it was. Our server, however, was great. Attentive, professional, and the highlight of the experience. The menu font is quite small, which makes it difficult to read in the dim lighting. And the payment terminal comes with a tip percentage already selected -- that always feels a bit uncomfortable. I'm glad I checked it off my list, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return or recommend it strongly. It feels like Casa Vega survives mostly on nostalgia and reputation rather than today's execution.

Burritos El Chavo is an institution, that has rightfully earned its place with their loyal customers, and I, too, am one now. From the moment I walked in and was greeted, I knew it was going to be gooooood. If I see a chile relleno on a menu, my go to order will always be, without fail, a chile relleno burrito with refried beans and add onions and cilantro. I have had many, some great, some so so. When I tell you this was single-handedly THE BEST chile relleno burrito I have ever had, I say that with full chest. What makes it stand out more than others? The sauce and the beans. I don't even want to talk about his wife. Don't know her name and don't really care. She was very unpleasant, unprofessional, rude, mean, and disrespectful. I even told her. I got me a Carne Asada Burrito with shredded beef, onions, beans, tomato sauce, & cilantro. I also got their Horchata that tasted so bad. It was basically water, with a pinch of cinnamon in it. Food overall tasted less than mediocre. Horchata was $4.50, and add Guac. $2.50. Guac tasted bland and was missing the main ingredients in it. Like garlic, lemon juice, and other spices.. Chips was small, but decent. Had to ask for that too.Didn't come with the meal. Ambiance was dull, and boring. There were probably 4 people in there including myself. They don't do delivery nor do catering. However, you can pick up to go orders. I am being generous with the last star. Place was clean, food came out quick, and they had few parking spaces in the back. Not all restaurants have parking these days! No public restroom either. Will not be returning. There are a lot of other delicious restaurants that I would be more than HAPPY to give my business to. I just wasted $22.77, tax included. What a bummer!!
