We recently discovered a new spot and had breakfast at Hugo's Studio City, and it was such a pleasant experience. We found this place through a Google search while specifically looking for a restaurant with a large gluten-free menu -- and Hugo's truly delivered. Almost everything on the menu is gluten-free, from classic French toast to hearty burritos, which is incredibly rare and impressive. There's a great balance between healthy options and more indulgent, gourmet-style dishes. Even the desserts are gluten-free, which was a big plus. The service was excellent from start to finish. From the hostess to our server, everyone was friendly, warm, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. We chose to sit on the patio since the weather was sunny, and it was the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the moment. Inside, there's plenty of seating, though the interior feels a bit dark for my taste. The old-fashioned décor gives the place a nostalgic, almost time-travel feel. Prices are reasonable, and portions are medium-sized. Overall, I highly recommend this spot -- and we'll definitely be back.

I came to Hugo's Restaurant with my vegan parents and kids. I had the Cali Benedict with potatoes and really enjoyed it. My parents ordered the vegan chipotle scramble and vegan French toast and loved both. The kids had chicken strips with fries and butter pasta. Both were kid-approved. Jake was our server and he was great. We liked that he was attentive and gave helpful suggestions. The space is warm and cozy with a relaxed vibe, and parking was easy since they have their own lot (huge plus). The only miss for us was the vegan bacon... quinoa bacon is a big commitment . Everything else was a win and we'd definitely come back. See you soon!

Got the veggie casserole, which was good. But the star of the meal was the vegan Rueben. I'll come back on my own just to eat that. Ambiance was good, service top notch.

Not bad, but also nothing to rave about. Ordered delivery of the vegan blt wrap with fries and vegan mac and cheese. Everything lacked some seasoning. The vegan mac and cheese was also just pasta with unmelted shredded cheese on top which was disappointing. Wouldn't say it's worth the cost or going out of my way to try again.

Another wonderful place I've been to numerous times and hadn't reviewed! I know these things: Never had a bad meal Never had bad service Never had a tummy ache afterwards. Their Happy Hour is fantastic, $5 beers & wine and the HH snacks can literally be considered meals. Very nice size for being so inexpensive. It's a pretty casual setting but great for a cup of tea, something vegetarian even a beer. Always a nice time here.

I came here with a large group of friends and we enjoyed sitting on the patio for hours and hours chatting. It was a weekday so we weren't preventing anybody else from getting a table. The fried pickles were interesting as they were new for me, but everyone else really enjoyed them. I liked the chicken strips and the marinara sauce was a nice refreshing touch to your typical ranch or ketchup, dipping sauce.

Another outstandingly good lunch at Hugo's. The parking lot is almost always full. They take OpenTable reservations. Everything is excellent on the menu with so many V/V+ options your head spins - because you can combine anything with anything here. Light and delicate dressings, over the top salads, my favorite green casserole with cheeze, the desserts are tasty and almost healthy. The various juices and smoothies are definitely healthy. Love their (not) pastrami on rye sandwich! Pasta Mamas are so comforting. Eat everything here and feel the positive energy just overwhelm you about how this place keeps going for decades with the healthiest sustainable food on the planet next to pure raw. It can get a bit noisy so I wouldn't call it intimate but the outer ring patio is a bit more peaceful than the jumping inside seating. And some of the best coffee that better than most specialty shops.

Hugo's, thanks for the service, the kindness, the food elevations, the ambiance and so many years. Located on the cusp of Sherman Oaks, bordering Valley Village and outer Studio City, this Coldwater Canyon adjacent (one of two locations) restaurant resides on Riverside Drive across from the Mariposa Hotel and neighbors Whole Foods, Hugo's Tacos and several local businesses and residences, making it feel like a slice of home. I've been coming to Hugo's - Studio Oaks (Studio City + Sherman Oaks) or rather Sherman Village (Sherman Oaks + Valley Village) on and off for the last ten plus years or so. It's cozy inside charm and outdoor patio (added on during the last five years) have set the mood for some great experiences and meals with many for me including a pretty cool birthday brunch with some choice friends/chosen family. I knew we'd be a group of at least ten or more so I wanted to make a reservation online (they use OpenTable), but for parties larger than four it's best to call in and with some notice (I gave a little over a week). One of my favorite things about Hugo's is how they accommodate a variety of foodie preferences, restrictions and/or allergens. From vegetarian to vegan to gluten free and more, Hugo's is here to serve #ConsciouslyDelicious I recommended the Cinnamon Swirl French Toast to my friend Fabrice, the only other vegan in my party and he loved them! I went with the vegan version of the Chilaquiles (the best I've had at Hugo's to date) and my friend Barrak had the classic version. Among our group it was a brunch smorgasburg of so many things from pancakes to eggy dishes like the Huevos Rancheros, Breakfast scramble and so forth. Beverages followed the same suite with fresh hot coffee, juice, soft drinks, teas, waters and adult beverages.... Mimosas, including bottomless mimosas were had! Having enjoy meals and beverages at all times of day here, for so long - I have to say I'm proud of how they've continued to grow, thrive and improve. Happy Hour specials as well as monthly menu item specials like their breakfast salad, shepherd's pie (can be made vegan and/or gluten free) and baked apple crumble are so many choice things to check out and enjoy. They have private parking in their lot, but it does fill up quite fast for breakfast and brunch on weekends. Street parking is ample, though may be a journey. Well worth it! Easy + super clean restrooms. Free wi-fi. Pup/pet friendly. Family friendly. All welcoming.

    Always full!

I went to Hugo's and had one of the BEST dining experiences ever. The food was great, but the service? Next level. Huge shout-out to Eric -- he wasn't even our server, yet my Coke Zero never hit empty once. He kept it full the entire time, lemon perfectly placed, like he had a sixth sense for when I needed a refill. That kind of attention is rare, and honestly, it made my whole meal. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and on top of things, but Eric went above and beyond in a way I'll seriously never forget. Hugo's, you've got a gem on your team. I'll be back -- and I'll be looking for Eric!

First, their cafe de olla is absolutely delicious. This remains one of the only places where I genuinely enjoy ordering cafe de olla. Second, their food is incredible. They serve excellent portions, everything tastes fresh, and the food is just so good. I've had their taquitos and chilaquiles, and both were delicious. The only downside is that every time I've come, there has usually been a bit of a wait, especially because the restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating. The inside is cute, but small, so we usually end up sitting outside. This is where their Monrovia location does have the advantage because it has much more space. Parking can also be tricky. Good luck finding a spot close enough where you don't have to walk far. We usually end up parking in the residential area around the corner. That said, the staff are wonderful and always try to be as accommodating as possible despite how busy they are. Highly recommend this place if you're okay with possibly waiting a bit for seating. The food and cafe de olla are worth it.

My friend and I went into this Cafe De Olla on the 17th of this month at 2pm. She met me there and lives in Burbank. I have been here once, I believe back in 2018. It was pretty solid in every way. We were warmly greeted by Erick--the host, standing by the podium and right away he got us a seat inside. After like 5 minutes, Elsa, our server approached us to take our order. My friend and I both felt like we were being rushed through our meal. Food came out hot and quick. We opted for a few of their dishes. Tacos Mananeros, came with 4 tacos ($18.95), with 4 complimentary sauces. 2 of the sauces were very spicy and Elsa didn't warn us. We also got the Veggie Omelette with tomatoes, onions, spinach, mushrooms, Jack cheese, topped with avocado and a side order of hash browns. They made the hash browns perfectly. Told her nice and crispy on the top and that's what we got. (18.95). We also shared their French Toast topped with Strawberry, Blueberries, and Blackberries. ($16.95) topped with lots of Whipped Cream (which I love) and a side of syrup. We needed to add more syrup to make the French Toast more moist. The French Toast was a bit dry for our liking. Even the people sitting next to us who ordered the same thing were saying the same. On the flip side, the other 2 dishes tasted fresh and delicious. Great portions for the prices. We also got this drink called Powerful from their smoothies section of the menu. It was called Green Smoothie. Ingredients were the following: blueberries, honey, Greek Vanilla yogurt, avocado and Almond milk. It was simply very refreshing and delicious. My friend wanted some sort of Latte, Espresso, Americano, etc..but they didn't have any of those drinks. All they had was regular & decaf coffee. At first, I asked for Cranberry juice, and Jose, said they only had Apple and Orange juice. We found it a bit odd not to have any of those drinks. Going back to our server Elsa, she was a bit aloof and forgetful. I asked for a bowl of fruit, and it never made it to our table. After we were done eating, I asked for two to-go boxes and a bag, she forgot that too. We had to ask the other employees to get them for us. The same with to-go containers for our sauces. She forgot to bring napkins too. Jose, (our busboy), needs a raise and promotion! This young man read all the ingredients on the Taco menu which came with: bacon & egg, chorizo with potato & eggs, machaka/eggs, & nopaitos/eggs. The writing in their menu was very small. Another server by the name of Angel, truly was an angel. Checked on us while Elsa was taking orders over the phone. They have another location in Monrovia, a gender neutral restroom, place was very clean. Inside was small. It had 10 tables and nice couches with cozy, inspirational decor and pillows. Lovely music playing over head with a nice patio seating. Will I return? Yes, but not anytime soon! Also check for their business hours..

These days, that the price of an entree. We shared our appetizers: my friend had the individual portion of the uptown mac and cheese and I had the grilled mushroom. The mac and cheese is to die for! So creamy and very rich, with aged cheddar and gruyere cheeses, pieces of chicken, peas, and asparagus sprinkled throughout. A definite diet buster, but worth it! The grilled mushroom was no slouch either. Consisting of oyster and king trumpet mushrooms, the dish had a nice "meaty" taste, ironic since it's a vegetarian dish that is cooked in a plant based butter. You don't miss the lack of meat at all. For entrees, my friend got the poke bowl, which I did not tasted so can't attest to it, but my friend said it was good. I had the spicy pasta, which was amazing. The campanelle pasta was cooked perfectly, holding the savory, slightly spicy corn-based cream sauce in all its luscious folds. Along with roasted poblano peppers, sautéed mushrooms, marinated artichokes, and tomatoes, the ingredients all worked so well together to make a truly yummy dish. We also shared our desserts: My friend got a scoop of the vanilla fleu de sal ice cream while I opted for a scoop of the dark chocolate. Both were good, but I liked the dark chocolate as it had actual pieces of dark chocolate. Our server Kayla was amazing. So friendly and on it! She constantly checked in on us, and made sure our drink glasses were never empty. Today is just the first day of dineLA, so plenty of more opportunities to go back and try some of the other options offered!

It had been a while since I'd been to Granville. I don't remember loving it the last time, but I…read morerecently went back for a quick dinner and the drinks, food, and service were all great. They have a really fun cocktail menu with plenty of options for different tastes and preferences. For dinner, we had the Thai Ginger with mango, soba noodles, slaw, avocado, peanuts, candied ginger, tomato, and Thai sesame dressing, and the Angel Hair with artichoke, basil, fennel, tomato, garlic, parmesan, and white wine clam sauce. Both were delicious. Our server was attentive and funny and checked on us regularly without being annoyingly attentive, which is always the perfect balance. It was a little loud, but we were there right in the middle of the dinner rush, so that was to be expected. Really good experience all around. I definitely won't wait so long before going back again.

We stopped by during brunch one day because I was craving breakfast and we must have came just the…read moreright time because there was not a lot of people, but shortly after we were seated people started coming in and they had to wait a bit for a table. We sat inside and I ordered a simple brunch with just 2 strips of bacon, 2 over medium eggs and waffles. The server asked me if I wanted a full size waffle or half size and as I was watching the other people order I noticed people were not hesitating to order the full size option and I thought dang, they are not gonna finish that, so I opted for the half serving which was 2 pretty good sized waffles. Once I took my 1st bite, I suddenly regretted only ordering the half size option. I instantly knew right then and there why people ordered the full size. A waffle is a waffle right guys? Wrong... not this waffle. This waffle will make you feel love inside that you didn't know existed. As we were walking inside the restaurant I actually was picking a fight with my husband for no apparent reason... possibly because I was hungry but after I took my first bite, I forgot about the argument haha. I told him he needs to bring me here ALL THE TIME. I am yet to come back a 2nd time and I already anticipate loving it the 2nd time. We drove by one day hoping to have a 2nd try here and it was really busy so we didn't make the stop. I look forward to coming back and the next time around I will not hesitate to order a full size waffle order. The staff was really nice, our server was this young lady who was waiting on all the tables inside and some outside was on top of it. She was really pleasant and the gentlemen in the back were also nice. The restaurant was clean when we visited and the service was really quick. We parked down the street, the walk wasn't too bad, we didn't know where to park but I read some of the other reviews and I guess there's a parking in the back somewhere. If you live nearby and you haven't visited, do yourself a favor and try them out. If you travel from far away like me and you're looking for a breakfast or brunch spot with delicious waffles, this is the spot.

Shortly after, she walked in and we both had breakfast together. I have been to this lovely, well kept and maintained establishment at least 7 times in the past. 2nd time reviewing this place. We ordered a Veggie Omelette that came with: spinach, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, & asparagus. For cheese we opted for Swiss cheese free of charge. ($18.99), got a side order of fruit ($5.99), an order of English Muffin(toasted) ($2.99), and a large Orange Juice for ($5.49). Total came out to be $30.70 including tax, minus his tip. Both guys Nathan and Benny were very helpful, attentive and nice. Food was very hot, DELICIOUS and prices were affordable for their portions. Nathan didn't charge me for the OJ, because he forgot to bring me my whipped cream that came with a side of half Waffle, that actually looked more like a full Waffle. We both stayed with water. They have pretty extensive menu options from breakfast, salads, wraps, and sandwiches. All types of beverages. Hot and cold. Business of operation is consistent, which I LOVE!! Gender neutral restroom, a nice patio on both sides of the restaurant, and about 8 to 10 spots of parking spaces behind the restaurant. Restroom was also clean and fully stocked with all the essentials. Nice artwork on the walls. You can also find street or meter parking. They have 2 or 3 other locations. They did a little touch up here and there that was very noticeable. This is a great breakfast/lunch spot to indulge yourself. I wanted to eat more, but one can only eat so much. Ambiance was very nice, chill, clean, and had overhead music playing inside the restaurant.. They have to-go orders, delivery, but no catering. 10/10. Will definitely return next time I am craving any one of their menu options. Thank you Nathan, Benny, management & Waffles!!
