We live a block away and can always smell amazing BBQ'ing scents whe the smoker is running! Come only on Friday and Saturday to get their boneless, skinless chicken breaat- but another nights to get their pulled pork, brisket, and smoked bologna. For their sides- try "them beans," coleslaw or potato salad. I suggest ordering the mixed dinners- 2 meats, 2 sides, bread and sauce. For a kick, ask for the spicy BBQ sauce!! read more

The whole meat topped potato is huge! Brisket sandwiches are piled high. Teas are delicious Pepsi products. The beans are the best I've had. I always add sauce to my beans, but not here. Rich in flavors! Staff is amazing. Will be back! read more

Absolutely the best I've had in Tulsa. Growing up in Tulsa there were several excellent bbq eateries. Those have died out. Very clean, neat & freshly prepared. Fair portions of deliciously smoked, moist meat. One of tops in Tulsa. Coleslaw & potato salad too sweet for me but that's usually the case for me. "Them beans" has chopped bbq meat/ends which is special. They also have the huge smoked potatoes (& half's) which I haven't had but look great. read more

Managed to find this gem. I am not originally from Tulsa. I got here for college and I was around the are when I was with my family and we decided to go in on a Saturday. And boy!!!! I was not disappointed, even my sister who is not a big fan of BBQ loved it. The waitresses all super nice and helpful. The sweet tea is good. I got a piece of everything and their sauces are good. Especially the res one (spicy) All an all a really good experience and the ambiance is supreme and the music is amazing. Would recommend and try the slap potato. If possible the whole one. Go with someone to share it tho. read more

This review is for the new location at 1529 E 3rd St, NOT the original location at 601 S Sheridan Rd. I have been a fan of Leon's for many years. However, after my experience today at the new place, I can tell you I will NEVER return to that location! When I seated myself they were busy with a big lunch crowd. I had waited nearly 10 minutes and my presence had not been acknowledged and I was not given a menu, even though a server was within 2 feet of me. Then two men entered and were IMMEDIATELY greeted and given menus by the same female server mentioned above. As a single woman I dine alone most of the time, and I have zero tolerance for this sexist attitude. I walked out very angry. It has been quite a while since I have encountered the situation, but there is no excuse for it and it is intolerable. read more

The blocked me on Facebook for making a comment about saying they are a black owned business. Everyone knows they are a black owned business. Why draw attention to that when their food is so good? I mentioned they should continue talking about the high quality of their food is instead of drawing attention to being a black owned business....and I get blocked from being able to comment on any of their posts and my comments were deleted. Very sad to see them take this approach when they could have just messaged me personally or addressed my comments in their FB post. Unfortunately they have lost me as a customer and I was always telling other people to go eat there too. read more

Excellent barbecue at Leon's. Don't go there for the atmosphere, for watching sports or to have a beer (no alcohol). You go strictly for the great barbecue and the quick and friendly service in a diner type setting. Very nice people there and if I'm in Tulsa again, I'll be back. read more

A Little Bit of Everything is a lot of the BEST BBQ. We are driving cross country and found this close the 244 in Tulsa. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is quaint BBQ shop, Leon very nice and BBQ is worth going out of your way for. Thank you for our most memorable meal so far from California. read more

I was getting a tire fixed next door and I asked for recommendations to this place and they said the barbecue was really good. So I ordered a sliced beef sandwich and a side of beans. I I was told that the red bottle on the table was hot barbecue sauce and the yellow bottle on the table was mild barbecue sauce so I picked up the yellow bottle and I had a hard time tasting the sauce so I poured a lot more on my sandwich. And the barbecue sauce is really hot. So I thought the bottles might've been mixed up so I tried the red bottle and it was just as hot. It tasted exactly the same as what was in the yellow bottle. I pointed this out to the waitress and she took the yellow bottle back and then came back out with it and said this is a mild and then someone says that I must have a sensitive tongue, I just got a laugh that off because I love hot sauces but just not hot barbecue sauce so I struggled finishing my sandwich and the beans were OK. In my opinion, sliced brisket should be sliced thin. There's was two thick slices on the bun. I couldn't taste any smoke flavor in the meat. I'll probably give them a second try and sit at a different table. lol read more

Not sure what it is about Oklahoma but bbq restaurants have some odd hours. My first choice was closed today so this popped up on yelp and we decided to order food to go. I went with the baby back rib dinner with chips and beans as a side. I gave the beans and slices of white bread to my coworker. While doing so I was very unpleasantly surprised to find out I paid $16 for THREE damn ribs and a bag of lays bbq chips. Totally overpriced paying about $5 per rib. I'm disappointed and butthurt about the price. 2 stars because the three ribs I did have were pretty good. read more

My husband and I are always looking for a new bbq place so when this popped up on my yelp search we decided to give it a try. So much love was felt from the moment we walked through the door. We had the sampler plate and it definitely did not disappoint. My favorite was the hot links. We decided to have a pie of buttermilk pie for the ride home... seriously the best pie crust I've very ate. The rest of the pie was quite delicious as well. The bbq is really good. My coworkers and I eat here often for lunch. Their two meat potato is my favorite. I usually get a half order cause it's so filling. The only thing I dread is paying my tab. The women running the register just take forever and it's sometimes frustrating when you gotta get back to work. I recommend paying in cash. All in all, I highly recommend Leon's over any bbq place within 20 miles of this place. read more

What a fabulous little BBQ shack out in the 'burbs of Tulsa! We had just picked up our rental car, and were looking for something to eat on our way back towards the hotel. I was cruising through the Yelp app to see what was nearby, and stumbled across the listing for Leon's Smoke Shack BBQ on Sheridan Avenue. Leon's looks very much like a small roadside diner with it's smoker shack sitting just outside in the parking lot. The scent of delicious smoking meats hits you as soon as you get out of your car. Inside, the place looks like an aluminum-skinned luncheonette with high-topped counter seats, and a few tables and chairs. They have a high shelf over the counter with all sorts of Rte. 66 memorabilia, including classic signs and miniature cars and trucks. The menu is simple, but very delicious. You've got your choice of smoked meat on a sandwich, or on a baked potato, or served as a dinner with sides and white bread. The smoked meat choices are beef brisket, smoked bologna, Hot Links, spare ribs, baby back ribs, pulled pork, and sausage. On the weekends, Leon also has boneless, skinless, smoked chicken breast as well. Your choices for sides include fabulous baked beans, Cole slaw, potato salad, and chips. I ordered the two meat combo, and had smoked bologna and chopped beef brisket with the baked beans and Cole slaw. That, plus a fountain drink was $12, and worth every penny. The folks at Leon's were super friendly, and the food was fantastic. This is a must-stop on our next trip back to Tulsa. read more

Nice clean place with nice people. Nice smooth jazz playing, nice mood. Tender brisket, good flavor. Good sausage, but no BBQ flavor. Very good beans and potato salad. Mixed the regular and hot sauce to make delicious BBQ sauce. The brisket outer spices were salty, but the meat was not. I enjoyed the place and food. Great BBQ place ! Highly recommend ! The bbq sauce is excellent and the meat is great too!!! Waitress's had everything out quickly! Also filled our drinks before they were even halfway gone !! Established in 2014.

It all began with a love for two things. Making people happy and cooking good food. Some years ago I started experimenting with smoking meat as a hobby. And as friends and family tasted my food, they requested more...and more...and more. One mouthwatering bite of brisket led to another, and before I knew it, catering requests poured in. Folks began to serve up heaping portions of praise, and always asked, "When are you going to open a restaurant?" Well, after recently retiring from my full-time job, traveling the world or watching reruns of Judge Judy wasn't exactly how I wanted to spend my free time. So my dream of finally opening my own restaurant has become a reality.

Which is why I'm sad that I'm just now being able to visit Oakhart last year, 4 years after they originally opened. Oakhart BBQ, located just East of Downtown, has carved out a great corner of the market. After being on my radar for a while but with limited hours, I finally walked in on Friday, October 31st around noon. The familiar patrons grazed the area just enough not to be crowded, a medium fill of people. The line wait was about 6mins and the staff were attentive when you got to the front. Though the prices were comparative to similar BBQ eateries of the area, Oakhart presents more like a shack as it's interior & seating options aren't as lush. The menu is handwritten on butcher paper & each employee had a different vibe but same apron. The delivery is al la cart, you get your food as soon as you ask for it & choose a chair. I got the baked beans, smoked brisket & Ribs, a decent variety to test the palate. The meal didn't initially look too appealing so I added salt & pepper to the sides. Each table is equipped with a standard & hot BBQ sauce. Just like in Texas, nothing matters more than the meat itself. I wasn't surprised that both the brisket & ribs were rich, tender & tender with a flavorful outer-char. The sides weren't as appealing, in look or in taste, even after the salt+pepper. The macaroni was wet & flaccid while the best thing about the beans were their temperature. I'll end my nitpicking as the meal was still satisfying. I would have liked to spring for the dessert that was offered but the ticket was already $25.00 (with tip) without a drink. As someone who's lived in Austin, I appreciate that Tulsa can attract, maintain and appreciate differing styles of BBQ. I was happy to see people supporting & being amongst folks who enjoy straightforward cooking. It's good to know that you can experience a bit of Texas in Tulsa which just the right amount that we need.
