This was some of the best bbq I've ever had. I would pay just to come in for the smell. The service was great and the staff is so friendly. There's only 6-7 tables (plus the whole bar) but if it's busy, just wait. It's worth it.

A small "hole on the wall " bbq hut in midtown Tulsa is a great place for good basic Barbecue. Leave the expectation for frills and flair at home. This is a genuine barbecue shack with about 8 small tables and a dinner style bar to sit at. I had hoped to find some good barbecue here and I was not disappointed. The family owned provides good, friendly service. The flavors are classic barbecue and texture is soft and moist stopping just short of mushy. Soft and sweet describes the flavors of the meat, beans and potato salad. The only thing on display here is a practiced mastery of the art smoking meat consistently. Bring your own mayo if you want a sandwich with mayo. I would definitely come back for good basic barbecue.

Leon's is across the street from the Church Studio. It has a decent amount of parking around the building. You walk into the wonder smell of bbq. We were seated quickly and our waitress was great with answering questions. I ordered the rib plus 1 meat (sliced brisket) with baked beans and potato salad. The ribs were excellent, juicy and tasty. The bbq sauce was really good as well. I wasn't a fan of the baked beans, it had a Smokey flavor I didn't enjoy. The potato salad was good. You will leaving full and happy.

We decided to eat here because of the great reviews and it is right across the street from The Church Studio. We got there around 12:30 and they were not busy at all. Avey was our waitress. We decided to go with "try all the meats" option for $33. Avey did tell us that they did not have any bologna and running low on ribs. This was some of the best bbq we have ever had. Chicken, pork, two types of sausage, chopped brisket, and ribs were brought out. The mild sauce was very good but we requested the spicy sauce and it had a lot of heat to it. It did come with basic white bread. She did bring dill pickles, jalapeños and chopped green onions also. Non of the meat was dry, not overly seasoned and just really great bbq. The inside was clean but the men's room did not have any soap in the soap dispenser. Plenty of parking.

I come here for the slap bbq potatoes. They have excellent service the only downside is that the restaurant is very narrow and customers waiting to pay bottle neck at the entrance with those waiting to be seated.

Support local small businesses! Best BBQ in town! If I do say so myself, probably why only open Thursday thru Saturday!!! Get in when ya can!!! Most tender brisket and ribs!!! Love a creamy Mayo based potato salad and them sweet baked beans!! Yass I want to try the other meats but I can't quit on the brisket!!! A nice spicy bbq sauce with the kick!!! Homemade desserts by Ms Helen, save room!!!! Nice cold ac with bartop seating for solos like myself or couple tables for groups. This is a small dine in so come early or order to go! They get packed quick and stay busy!!! Mr. Franks is the best server and keeps the cups full and everything ya need. Love quality and friendly customer service!!! These are good people here with fantastic food!!! Give it a try!!!!

Stopped by the new location for the first time on Saturday. Had a great experience. The food was delicious and the portions were amazing. We had the absolute best service from Ayanna (hopefully that's close). We will definitely be back.

The restaurant was very cool, the service was outstanding and the BBQ was outstanding. Possibly the best I've had. I highly recommend if you like BBQ give Leon's Smoke Shack BBQ a try, you will not be disappointed.

Mixed Rib Dinner with spare ribs and sausage. "Them Beans" for both my sides because they're sooo good!
    Stephanie C.

This place is fantastic! Get "Them Beans" for your side (or both sides, like I did). The spare ribs are so tender, they slide right off the bone. The sausage is fatty enough to be juicy, but not greasy. Their sauces are delicious and the "hot" is actually HOT. And the folks running the place are so friendly, it makes it a joy to eat there.

Visited Leon's on while visiting Route 66. What a find! The brisket and ribs were very tender. They had homemade desserts. My husband had banana pudding. For lunch I had a slap potato! Wow! Great service

It's always good news when Tulsa gets a new Barbeque restaurant. In fact, it's a privilege to have…read moreso many good, authentic and/or homegrown eateries in our area. Which is why I'm sad that I'm just now being able to visit Oakhart last year, 4 years after they originally opened. Oakhart BBQ, located just East of Downtown, has carved out a great corner of the market. After being on my radar for a while but with limited hours, I finally walked in on Friday, October 31st around noon. The familiar patrons grazed the area just enough not to be crowded, a medium fill of people. The line wait was about 6mins and the staff were attentive when you got to the front. Though the prices were comparative to similar BBQ eateries of the area, Oakhart presents more like a shack as it's interior & seating options aren't as lush. The menu is handwritten on butcher paper & each employee had a different vibe but same apron. The delivery is al la cart, you get your food as soon as you ask for it & choose a chair. I got the baked beans, smoked brisket & Ribs, a decent variety to test the palate. The meal didn't initially look too appealing so I added salt & pepper to the sides. Each table is equipped with a standard & hot BBQ sauce. Just like in Texas, nothing matters more than the meat itself. I wasn't surprised that both the brisket & ribs were rich, tender & tender with a flavorful outer-char. The sides weren't as appealing, in look or in taste, even after the salt+pepper. The macaroni was wet & flaccid while the best thing about the beans were their temperature. I'll end my nitpicking as the meal was still satisfying. I would have liked to spring for the dessert that was offered but the ticket was already $25.00 (with tip) without a drink. As someone who's lived in Austin, I appreciate that Tulsa can attract, maintain and appreciate differing styles of BBQ. I was happy to see people supporting & being amongst folks who enjoy straightforward cooking. It's good to know that you can experience a bit of Texas in Tulsa which just the right amount that we need.

I really liked the horseradish coleslaw. I'm not a big fan of collard greens but I still tried them and actually thought they were pretty good. For our mains, two of us had the brisket and one had ribs. Both were super good. There were 4 different sauces. I recommend trying them all. I wanted to try the sausage but they were sold out. I guess you need to get there earlier than an hour before they closed. We finished with a couple desserts. The banana pudding was probably the best I've had. Their seasonal cobbler was blueberry and very tasty! I was hoping for peach. Maybe next time. Yes there will definitely be a next time. It was a lot of food so we had plenty left over that ate for lunch the next day. The atmosphere is super friendly and really clean. Like most barbecue places I've been to there is no table service. You order and pay at the counter. Then depending on how busy they are they will bring your food to your table or have you pick up at the counter. For me the cherry on top is their pay it forward meal. For $15 you can buy a meal for someone in need. They hand you a receipt that you pin to a board. Then when someone needs a meal they can go in and grab one off the board. They offer them their lunch special. While I was there I saw a very grateful individual come in and get a meal. The staff were super nice and treated them just like any other customer. Great food! Great service! Great value! Do yourself a favor and try this place!

The brisket was tender and easy to chew. The ribs were perhaps the second weakest part of the meal. That said I have eaten worse in most places in Tulsa. They were tender but in my opinion could have been better. The chicken was the weakest part of the meal. It was a bit dry but tolerable. The potato salad was creamy soft with just a slight hint of vinegar you expect to taste in potato salad in a perfect balance of flavors and textures. We ordered the Mac and cheese was very cheesy and included a cheese pull with a slight funk in the aftertaste that makes it very different dish from the standard offering at other places.
