Well worth the trip! Located downtown in 'bricktown' not on North Kelly St as still shows on some sites. I always eat the ribs at Leos and have never been disappointed. Convient parking, good service. Kinda a wierd place at first but grows on you. read more

Great BBQ! I tried a little bit of everything. The meats were juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The potato salad is the best I've ever had. To finish off, I had their delicious cake they serve. The staff which seems inappropriate to say bc they make you feel like you've been coming there for years - absolutely wonderful people! Holy smokes, that's some great BBQ right there! Stopped by on the way to Memphis from California to this beauty and I have 0 regrets. This was absolutely the best ribs and BBQ sauce I've ever had. Their BBQ beans were to die for (and I'm not even into beans). Absolutely amazing. Not the cleanest place in the world, but who the heck cares when you have BBQ like that. The service is absolute GARBAGE. We walked in and nothing was said to us, no hello no nothing. We waited up front where there is a bag banner with the menu because we weren't sure if that's where we were suppose to order or sit down so after about 3 minutes or so of just standing there we seated ourselves and had to wait another 5 minutes or so before someone said anything to us. Then when the lady finally took our order she came back 5 minutes later because she forgot what our order was. With all that being said the food was on point, we got the Leo special (29.99) which was another to feed two adults with food left over came with 3 ribs (they gave us 4) a good amount of brisket, 3 links, and smoked bologna the special comes with 2 sides and we got fried okra and fries (1.99 extra for anything fried). It also came with 2 slices of their "famous" cake. The cake was pretty good while it was still warm (it's served that way) but don't let it sit to long because it gets hard and is not as good. The mild sauce was runny and the hot sauce was HOT according to my husband who loves spicy food. Overall it was a good meal. read more

This place was awesome. Hole-in-the-wall, but so good. Really excellent ribs and simple sides, and our waitress was very nice. She kept apologizing for how long it took but it was maybe 10 minutes? First time at Leo's after hearing good things. Just moved here so looking for good Q. I ordered the pound of brisket at lunch today to take out. The location itself is definitely a dive, in a good way. The staff was wonderful. Quick and very friendly. Since I had never eaten at Leo's before I didn't know which sauce to get so I got one of each, regular and hot. When I got home, I had to dig in. The brisket was good. But not great. There was some smoke flavor but personally I like a little more. There was just a touch of bark, so that was nice. Personally I didnt love either sauce. The regular was a little bland and the hot was a little too something. Still can't put my finger on it. The cake that came with my dinner was very good. a very good experience, especially the staff and service. Although good, I think the food can be better and I will definitely be back for another try. It's hard to judge BBQ in one sitting if it doesn't knock your socks off. Probably a 3.5 but dont have that option. read more

I met my family for Thanksgiving in OKC and they wanted to go to Leo's. The place looks like a shack but that's the appeal. Matter of fact my favorite BBQ joint in the world is Oklahoma Joes in KCMO and it's located in a gas station. When we went in I was a bit put off at the service of the wait staff however during the progression of the dinner I was pleasantly surprised. I got the plate that had brisket, ribs, sausage, bologna, beans and potato salad. I got a Lemonade to drink. Let's just say that the food was good but not outstanding. The Lemonade was very good but I think it was Kool-Aid. The brisket was good but a bit dry and was chopped up. Not the worst but not as good as Rudy's in Austin on 360. The ribs weren't bad, they had good spice to them however they were a bit fatty and not a ton of meat on them. Not as good as the ones I smoke at home. The bologna, ummm not much of a bologna fan so I passed it to other's at the table even though I tasted it. The sausage was pretty good and I'm not a sausage fan. It had a red colored skin and was spicy. The potato salad tasted store bought but the star of the meal was the beans. They were GOOD. Chunks of meat, yummm. For dessert the waitress brought us pound cake with strawberries on it with a slight glaze on it. Very good. All in all it was spectacular but it was good. Would I come here again? A friend and I decided to to Leo's on my last visit. Tried the big sampler. The small sampler should be good for most people! The large is just too much food. I really liked the brisket and the links. The ribs were ok, although my friend loved the ribs and didn't like the brisket. So, I guess it depends on your taste buds. The fried bologna was ok. Me and my wife heard about this place in an Oklahoma guide and had to try it. At first you wouldn't think it would be all that great, but that's the best part of this establishment. It's one of those hidden gems where the food taste amazing. I'm all for supporting black owned businesses but the owner takes his time to converse with all the customers that come in. I had the Leo's special and boy I'll tell you it's well over enough for you to enjoy and then take some home for seconds. As a new resident of OKC, I am constantly looking for good places to eat. After seeing Leo's on The Food Network, I couldn't wait to go try the food. The outside is very small, but I wasn't too concerned with the appearance, just the food/service. Needless to say, I was not impressed by either. The server was friendly, however, the manager on duty had no concept of customer service and was quite rude. The BBQ was ok, but I've had better in my backyard. The strawberry-banana cake was the best thing there. I have to say that as an African-American foodie, I love to supoort black-owned business, but I WILL NOT be returning to Leo's. I think they have gotten a little cocky due to being on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. I'm sure Guy has had a lot better BBQ and was only putting on a good show for the cameras. read more

A friend works nearby in the medical campus and took me here for lunch. Server was very sweet and attentive and the food was quite delicious. Had ribs and brisket plate that came with that famous piece of angel food cake. Upon checking out, they were backed up as only one cashier could settle bills but he was busy prepping lunch orders. It's a small bbq joint but they have plenty of seating in the inside. They smoked the BBQ right there so beware your clothes and hair will smell like it afterwards. We ordered the Leo special's that included a bit of everything and two sides. Seems like they always runs out of something and they were out of the potatoes salad. Despite living in Oklahoma my entire life, I hadn't been to Leo's until after the Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives aired their program about Leo's....and BOY! What we've been missing! It was amazing!! DO NOT skip dessert! That cake was UNBELIEVABLE! Went to Leos just a few days ago, at the suggestion of a co-worker and purchased a slab of ribs, one pound of chopped brisket, potato salad and baked beans. My order was placed to go.. - The ribs were -OK to Good- with some of them being tough & overcooked. Most though, were good and properly cooked. Good Smoke Flavor.. - The chopped Brisket was decently tender but lacked flavor - We didn't care for the House BBQ Sauce and so used our own. Good for Oklahoma City I guess. I didn't try another BBQ place in OKC after trying this one. I thought discretion the better part of valor in my search for great BBQ. I thought the ribs were old. Not juicy and fresh. They were crispy and combined with the sauce a little strange tasting. I know it's not descriptive but I didn't get it. The place smells really great. Great smoke but the ribs just taste a little charred and a little old. I came for dinner so it's possible that you should stick to lunch. I didn't think anything was really all that special including the sides. I don't mind that it's a dive in a boring part of town. Never factored in. I just thought the food prep wasn't great. I did love that they bring you a great piece of cake to end your meal. Friendly folks. Fairly priced. read more

I'll keep it short due to the overwhelming number of positive reviews Leo's already has. Pretty standard pricing for a BBQ place, but the food is amazing. Don't let the building dissuade you, it's aged, a little run-down even, but the food they make in that old kitchen is crazy good. Worst bbq that I have ever had. The brisket was tough and fatty. The flavor was awful. I took one bite and spit it out. My husband said his fries were cold and we paid an extra $1.99 to substitute for them. Well, at least it was expensive. Our total was $32 for a completely disappointing experience. Good god almighty. Ive had a lot of bbq from a lot of places ( GA, AZ, CA, VA, the Carolinas ) but this place had the best pork ribs Ive ever had. I was in Okcity for training and one of the guys in class made it a point to go here after he saw it on the Food Network. We all went one night and it was fabulous. Its a rundown looking shack on the underside of an interstate bridge. Nothing to look at but damn the food was good. They sell meals or bbq by the pound ( dont sell beef ribs ). Greens are available to gaze on while you wait for the food. They usually include 3 or 4 pieces of bread with each plate. I heard that he is willing to ship his food all you have to do is call and ask. I will be investigating that soon. Fabulous place! Cool people and AMAZING bbq. I will be driving 40 when I move west. Leo's a is a taste of home. Yes, the building is small, and parking can be a bit of a circus on busy days, but Leo's is worth it. The brisket is so tender it falls apart when you dig it.
