I was told about this pizza for ever and finally decided to try it, we bought 2 small pizzas for $50 and I will tell you it was not good at all, I put a pizza in the oven the other day and it was better. The lady there said the cheese was something special, and they act kinda stuck up like they are the best thing since sliced cheese. I will never eat there again, the pizza was horrible. I eat here with my girlfriend this evening. It was actually really good. But that shouldn't be a surprise as the reviews have been pretty positive. It is a small place only about a half dozen tables. But there was a lot of traffic coming in for carry out orders. There's several different options, meat lovers, and veggie lovers. It looks like the crust is only one kind, which is thin so if you're not into thin crust, this might not be the place for you. The seasoning, the cheese a lot of it is made in house. Now lower your expectations. The provel/mozzarella mix tastes like someone melted plastic over wet cardboard and called it a topping. It doesn't so much sit in your stomach as it does set up camp and wage an angry protest, leaving you queasy for hours. The crust? Oh, it's thin alright, thin like my patience after interacting with the lady behind the counter. She greeted me with the warmth of a DMV employee and the charm of a tollbooth operator. Apparently, ordering a pizza at Leo's is a personal offense to her. I've traveled to over 30 countries, eaten everything from street food in Bangkok to haggis in Scotland, and I've had what the locals call pizza almost everywhere I've been. I can honestly say, nothing has ever made me long for airline peanuts quite like Leo's. Save yourself the trauma and just grab a frozen pizza from the store or some day-old slices from QT. Leo's is a good change of pace as we usually stick to a Sicilian style. Leo's is more cheese heavy over a lighter sauce. Hamburger is the way to go because if you can't make a hamburger pizza taste good then what's the point? But I'm not hating on those that like a heavily topped pie. It's worth a try and we will continue to keep it in our rotation. For those wanting to dine inside, it's a smaller place so if you have a big group you may consider doing carry out. I saw some one write, "If you know - You know!" So true. Grew up eating Leo's - George's in OP KS - then that went away so we made a pilgrimage to the original in North KC! I've had a lot of good pizza in NYC, LA, Miami, Cincinnati and even my college town of Lawrence KS, LEO's if the best in the US! Try the Leo's salad too, it's a must. The restaurant itself only has 7 tables with a small kitchen so it takes time to get your Leo's pies but it's worth the wait. Try the ham/Canadian Bacon or pepperoni mushroom- the perfect combo of a unique sauce and St Louis style provolone, chefda & mozzarella cheese (called provel) absolutely coated over a crispy brown pizza pie crust! His was good, but for my pizza it honestly looked like someone who hasn't seen a women in years, jizzed all over my pizza pie.
